    fire mac and cheese

Really tasty food and yummy specials. I keep going back here for their fire mac and cheese because it is so delicious. Tucked inside Salt City Market it has a nice storefront. Service is quick and friendly. I find the pricing to be very reasonable for the portions you get. I also tried their chili special and it was different than anything I have ever had and very tasty. I definitely recommend them.

Inside Salt City which I love for the variety of options for meals, desserts, drinks, and cocktails, by the rear entrance the crew greets with happy smiling faces and quickly takes the orders only a few minutes to delivery. We like to sit in the front enjoying the rare Syracuse sun and people watch at the corner of S Salina and W Onondaga Sts. The chicken was very flavorful although a bit dry on the sandwich and very dry in the meal according to my lunch pal. The hash browns are well seasoned although a tad salty and difficult to fork as they are small. My friends yams she said were as delicious as they looked and I would guess right on because she did not offer to share. Cornbread looked light and fluffy although that was saved for dinner leftovers. The Mac and cheese was bright yellow and ok is what I was told. I would return to try the ribs another time.

Great food, great customer service, love their ribs, yams, Mac and cheese and very reasonable prices! So good!

Fried Chicken, Mac and Cheese, Utica Greens, and Cornbread

I had the fried chicken with mac and cheese and their version of Utica greens. Everything was cooked well and the portion sizes were good. The meal came with corn bread which was also very good. The people working were extremely friendly and courteous. Pricing was very reasonable. I will definitely try this place again next time I am in the area.

Two separate meals on two separate days. The Mac n cheese and yams are to die for. The cornbread is pretty good but seems to depend on the day. The meat however? The fried chicken was bone dry, and the ribs were the most tasteless thing I've ever had despite supposedly having an Apple jam on top? So sad that the mains are always disappointing but the sides are so good.

Friendly service but the food was just okay. The owner mentioned that the ribs are what he is known for they were just okay. The Mac & cheese as well as the cornbread but again nothing too special. The yams were the best and very good!

I won a contest to get food from Soulutions Catering. The food was incredible! I am very fussy about ribs and these were delicious. They fell off the bone and had tons of flavor. This was my 1st time trying catfish. It was so good. Very crispy and light. The greens and cornbread were amazing. Fire mac was too spicy for me, but my son devoured it. I can't wait for Soulitions to fully open so I can try more of their menu and get some more of those ribs!

Pretty solid food, portions are big enough to fill you up cause they give you bigger sides but the protein portions could be bigger. Recommend you try for yourself. 4 stars cause its a lil pricey, $17 for 3 ribs, 2 sides and cornbread(drink not included).

Unfortunately gotta give them a 2 on this one. Went on a Friday to try their Fried Catfish sandwich. The fish tasted like it was cooked in the water out the stream it was plucked out of unfortunately. The mac was fine, but cold. Oh and to echo what's happened with others, they also missed my ticket and put it on the completed orders pile by accident- so I had to wait an extra 10 minutes. I don't care about this part really, but it does seem to be a bit of a trend.

The whole plate was so good! The ribs were super tinder, a bit greasy but still tasty as ever. The mustard rub was stood alone in flavor but the bbq sauce was just as good. Yams with the candied pecans and the mac n cheese was everything. Everything was bomb and I can't wait to come again.

Fried Chicken, Fire Mac, Not Your Utica Greens, Cornbread Muffin and drink- all for around $15....worth it!

Stopped at SOULutions on a recent Friday afternoon. The market was packed with folks finishing their lunches. After visiting Miss Prissy's on several previous occasions, I decided to give SOULutions a try- was very glad I did. Woman behind the counter tried to sway me towards their Friday special of fried catfish, but I had other ideas. I picked the MUSTARD AND BERBERE SPICED FRIED CHICKEN -described as: "Juicy boneless chicken breast marinated in mustard and spices, breaded and deep fried." It was all that and more. Spices were on point and the chicken was tender and juicy. Had two sides to go with and I settled on the NOT YOUR UTICA GREENS- described as "Collard greens simmered with smoked turkey, tri colored peppers, onions, sun dried tomatoes and topped with parmesan cheese." These were some of the best greens I have had- complete with an interesting & satisfying blend of flavors. FIRE MAC - described as "Cavatappi pasta, habaneros, with cheddar, Monterey jack, Colby and mozzarella cheeses topped with fire sauce, crispy chicken skin and green onions." Loved their version as it had just the right amount of creaminess and heat. Was very pleased with my visit to SOULutions and would definitely return here the next time I stop into the Market.

Today was my first time in the Salt City Market and I picked SOULutions for lunch. I had the chicken sandwich. It snd the home fries were good. Although I think the sandwich could have been spicier. I'd definitely eat here again.

Eminem's ex-wife got tired of being pistol-whipped and listening to hubby rap about killing her and…read moreher daughter, so she finally did what she should have done, and got the hell out of there. She relocated to Syracuse, NY and opened a Fried Dough stand at the market. She looks a little different though. She has a new husband and her daughter helps her out and they're really, super friendly. Anyone would think she had nothing to do with Eminem and that the daughter wasn't actually Hailie. But we know better. It's her. What to get: Fried Dough for $2 What else: I think my Dad's gone crazy I had the lemonade too, which was $1.50 and just okay. But let's focus on the star attraction. This is some of the best Fried Dough I've ever had. If you're up in Da Cuse and you want some Dough, this is the place to go. It's absolutely delicious and it's enormous! Basically for $2 they give you a huge long stick of dough (way bigger than even the biggest thingy, since you asked), and it's piping hot, greasy, juicy, fresh, delicious, and absolutely covered in cane sugar. I adore it. I'm not the biggest fan of some fried doughs, but this one is right up there with the best of them. It's made in a lot of places in WNY and CNY but I don't think anyone in this region makes it as well as Kim does. I'm so glad she left Eminem and opened up this place. And it's great that, at $2, you don't need a lot of Dough to get the Dough. So in the words of Homer Simpson: Dough!

Located in the Salt City Market. It's very rare that I can find a full meal at a stall in a food…read moremarket for my child with multiple, food allergies. I saw that Miss Prissy's offers a half roasted chicken so I inquired about it (I believe it was called grannie's plate). The lady working at the counter was so kind and patient. She read over my daughter's allergy card thoroughly and knew what was in the dishes. Grannie's plate came with two sides. I was surprised that the candied yams and green beans didn't contain dairy or ham (there's turkey in the green beans). Chicken was juicy and just fell off the bone. Candied yams and green beans were well seasoned, like a big hug in food form. It was also a ton of food for the price. I did see several things were sold out. We came at 1 pm on a Sunday so I'd imagine you'd want to come sooner to avoid sold out food.

So far I have yet to go to Salt City Market and not have a great meal. I've still only scratched…read morethe surface, but we finally got a chance to go try another one. Based on the reviews, it looks like their menu must change often. We pretty much cleared the whole thing with our order, and I'd be excited to reroll on the next one. We got the haddock meal, the rosemary chicken meal, and an order of the wings, along with all the sides included. Mac & Cheese, Collard Greens, Yams. I thought the meal sounded pretty plain when I looked over the order, but we were just excited to eat a well-cooked meal we didn't have to make ourselves. The rosemary chicken ended up being my favorite part. So melt in your mouth tender, while the skin was snappy and crisp. The haddock was pretty much standard issue, same breading and texture you'd expect from a fish fry anywhere you go. We got three squeeze packets of tartar sauce we weren't expecting to like, but it was fine. The fish wasn't really a memorable part of the meal, but always a welcome addition. The wings were golden brown, the exact texture you want in great quality breaded wings. They were very flavorful, with a sweet and tangy sauce. The sauce is buttery, which helps it carry the flavor, but also turns into sludge if it gets cold. I wish they came with a dipping sauce - I think even a good ranch would have brought them home. I'm doing my best not to just say "melt in your mouth" a thousand times in this review, but it came up a lot while we ate this meal. The chicken, the mac and cheese, the freaking yams. My first impression of the mac and cheese was that pasta should never be this soft, especially in something that is baked. Then I tried it, and it's perfect. Super soft while retaining the pasta texture, but with a blast of creamy cheese in every bite. The yams -- again, my language is falling short so I'm just going to say it. The yams melt straight in your mouth in the best way possible. I hope they are always on the menu. These are kind of express restaurants at Salt City, so I get why their menu is so small. Going through the photos and reviews online make me sad I didn't come here sooner, but also excited to return later and see what else they have. With the quality of this meal, I have very high expectations for whatever they do next.
