I was a little disappointed in my cannoli roll. It would have been better described as a whipped cream cake roll. The half cannoli on top was also filled with whipped cream. It was also expensive for what it was. I also ordered a prepackaged slutty brownie, it was good, not great, but definitely better than the cake roll. My rating is specifically for my birthday cake but I really have never had anything I didn't like from this place. My boyfriend surprised me with a Biscoff flavored cake from here. He said the staff was very accommodating for him and suggested this flavor, as the one he originally wanted is not made anymore. I have never had this cake flavor but wow was it great!! The cake was well-sized, beautifully decorated, and absolutely delicious. Even the buttercream had flavor versus just being straight sugar-tasting. I really recommend this place for a birthday cake!! Some of the best macarons I've had! The earl grey flavored one was spot on and not super sweet which I enjoyed the most. The matcha flavored one had a vanilla base from the taste of it causing it to be a little on the sweeter side, but still delicious. The peanut butter and jelly brownie captured all the right components with the gooey inside and crisp outside, and was baked with very rich chocolate. I was at Salt City Market/Bar for trivia on Monday night and needed a sweet treat. These desserts were perfect! The service was quick and very attentive. While in Vietnam, Duyen Nguyen's mom operated a successful bakery for more than 20 years. By eighth grade, she enrolled Nguyen in baking courses but that lasted only a few months. Though she might not have been interested in baking at the time, she still loved frequenting the many cafes of Ho Chi Minh City and indulging in their drinks and desserts. While working at Roji Tea Lounge years ago, Nguyen started baking for the first time. She wanted her American friends to taste popular sweets commonly available at tea bars throughout Asia. She researched recipes and baked cookies, cakes, and cupcakes. Due to the popularity of her sweets at Roji, Nguyen was encouraged to expand their dessert and drink menus. She decided to follow in her mother's footsteps and opened Cake Bar when Salt City Market opened in 2020. I've gotten dessert at Cake Bar several times and it's always delicious. I've had several flavors, from Biscoff to Oreo to Peach Almond, and have never had a flavor I didn't enjoy. The cake is well made, sturdy, and the slices are large. Their drinks are delicious too. I'm grateful I don't live in the apartments above the Salt City Market, because if I did I think I'd gain about 20 lbs a month treating myself to Cake Bar. "You just had a cupcake yesterday," I'd tell myself, before promptly heading downstairs and buying another. Was psyched to try the rose, but unfortunately they were out. Luckily, they had other scrumptious options. I went with a strawberry cheesecake instead. Man, was that frosting creamy. Seriously, like biting into a cloud. The cake was sweet but not overwhelmingly so, with a little bit of jam in the middle. Really lovely. I also got a s'mores for the next day, and it came with a little mini s'mores garnish on top. I would advise to eat the cupcakes same day, as they get a little dry overnight. Not a huge deal, just something to keep in mind. We tossed out the cookie, tiramisu, and Creme Brûlée. The sandwich was not good. The egg in a basket was mediocre. Definitely the food and sweets were a let down. The boba teas were not bad at all, but definitely not as good as other local competition. The coffee tasted good. It was the highlight... BUT, the cups were not able to handle the overly hot coffee and my cup practically exploded all over my vehicle. I was standing in front of the cake case for what seemed like an eternity trying to figure out what to order, I definitely zoned out staring at the beautiful confections. Allowed myself one cake and a drink. It felt like a boba kind of day so I ordered an iced original boba tea and boba cake to go. The woman behind the counter put a bunch of pearls on the cake parfait cup prior to packing it up. Everything was so tasty! I've never had boba cake before but I can assure you that as long as Cake Bar offers it, it won't be the last time. So light, not overly sweet and delicate yet filled with boba flavor, combined with boba pearls...it didn't feel sinful. The owner's cousin makes the macaroons with the love in her heart and there are also many cakes, pastries, boba tea, fruit tea, tea, and large orders. This was my 3rd time visiting and I can say each time has been an absolute pleasure. To celebrate the salt city market's 1 year anniversary they are running daily specials for the entire week. My daughters are big boba lovers so I decided to treat them to the $3 special at cake bar which was a white chocolate boba drink. The drink can be served hot or cold but my daughter's wanted theirs cold. I took a little sip and wished I would've gotten one for myself too lol. I opted for a slice of the tiramisu cake which was also delicious. My traveling lover and I were instantly drawn to the glass display cases of this quaint little dessert bar nestled within the Salt City Marketplace. The sheer color and variety of the desserts make it almost impossible to quickly choose a favorite as there are so many options that appear mouth-watering. This would not be a one-and-done experience. For our first taste, we tried the Biscotti cake and a Taro cupcake. Though we planned to have the desserts later that evening after dinner, my traveling lover opened the box as soon as we reached our hotel room. The cupcake was first, and tasted as good as it looked. The frosting was amazing, the filling moist, and the overall flavor delicious. It felt like it was gone in seconds. With the cupcake being just a tease, we went straight for the cake. Layer by layer, and flavor by flavor, the cake also did not disappoint, even as the presentation made for lofty expectations. The frosting was again amazing, each layer had a distinct flavor all its own, and the crust was absolutely out of this world. The best part was that even though we had pounded down two rich desserts, because of the quality of the ingredients, we did not feel bloated or overwhelmed. Given the positive experience, and our close proximity to the shop, we popped in a second time to try some of the flavors we were eyeing during the first go around. This time we decided on the strawberry shortcake cupcake and the mango cheesecake. The result was just as satisfying the second time around. The cupcake was a great appetizer to whet the appetite, leading into the phenomenal mango cheesecake. The cheesecake was so good that we did not let a single morsel or crumb go to waste. It's probably a good thing that this was a vacation only experience, as it would not be a stretch to say we could eat there every day. That would be quite the assault on our waistlines. I must have come on an off day, or too late to see the best choices. I love cake, but to me there were only strange flavors and textures here. I think that you might have to like fruity cakes with whipped cream to appreciate this shop. The cupcakes were small vanilla ones with heaps of candy-corn colored frosting. The only chocolate was in cookies that looked like the ones sold in gas-stations (M&M, Reeses cup). The tiramisu cups looked nice but small. The girl was busy making teas and didn't seem too happy.
