I will never order a cake from this establishment again. When I called I specifically asked if their carrot cake was thick, moist and if it contained raisins and nuts; I was told it was a traditional carrot cake that contained all of these elements. I would have given you the $40 I paid for my cake if you could find a single nut, raisin or even carrot in this cake! As someone who sells cupcakes for extra income I know a good cake when I see one and taste one, I also can tell what is homemade and what comes from a box. Needless to say I was highly disappointed when I cut into the cake on my birthday to find what appeared to be a boxed spice cake, with a plain boxed WHITE cake for the top layer. Not to mention the cream cheese frosting was the WORST frosting I had ever tasted. I'm not sure what they did but they definitely screwed up the frosting. Have you ever seen a birthday cake decorated with traditional flowers and more modern polka dots? Me either! This could be my fault though, when asked how I wanted it decorated I replied "like a fun birthday cake." Maybe I should have given more direction? I have no complaint about the quality of their cupcakes which used to cost about 1.50 each. However, I just stopped by for a half dozen and, to my surprise, I was charged $17.28 or $2.88 each. That is quite a jump...almost 100 percent. I was told their accountant told them to do it. I hope he tells them what to do with their empty building when they close down. Unfortunately, our experience with Gingersnap was anything but great. We went here to order our wedding cake, and initially were treated quite well, until there was an issue with our cake topper. We had given them the cake topper over a week in advance so that she could make sure it fit on the cake. Two days before the wedding I received a phone call telling me that the cake topper would not fit and what was I going to do about it. Confused, we had asked her to just bake a larger cake and that we would pay the difference, she refused. Luckily, my husband is handy and was able to fix it so it would fit, but if he had not we would not have had a cake topper for our wedding. In addition to this setback, we paid extra for fresh fruit in our cake and instead were given canned globs of strawberries in one layer and nothing in the next. We also received quite a few harassing phone calls on our honeymoon from the baker requesting her cupcake tower back, even though when we went to return it before we left for our honeymoon no one was there, we told her she would have to wait as we were not going to make our family members drive over an hour to return it to her and again were met with sarcasm and rudeness. While the cupcakes were decorated beautifully, many were inedible as their sole ingredients were extract and food coloring.If you like to pay $500 for unnecessary stress then I would go to these bakers. read more
