I tried the chocolate chip easter cookie and the sprinkles added a little crunch that was super delightful in this cookie. The owner was very nice and they also have finger lakes coffee here which is the perfect pairing with your cookie. The cookies are $3.50 a piece, pretty normal for syracuse bakeries. They're not massive thick cookies, but they're a solid size. Great place to grab a little treat while you're in armory square or right after visiting the MOST.

That proved so popular that owner Carrie Fanizzi had to move to bigger quarters at Northern Lights Mall in 2010. Two years later, due to a variety of economic and personal issues, Fanizzi closed up, then briefly had a retail outlet at Niko's Restaurant in downtown's Hanover Square, and then settled in for a long run exclusively selling cakes wholesale to restaurants. At the end of 2021, Fanizzi finally got back into the retail business. Big Mama's opened its own shop for the first time in almost a decade at 6598 Thompson Road near Carrier Circle in DeWitt. That's the former Pronto Joey's building near Joey's Restaurant. The wife and I had had Big Mama's cheesecake when it was being sold as individual slices out of other establishments and always enjoyed it. Once we saw they had their own spot, we knew we had to hit the up as well. We've had several different flavors from them and they're all great. They have the usual stuff you'd expect to see, but some different off the wall flavors you won't find anywhere else, like creamscicle. The space is small for customers, you just walk in right to a counter and order from the flavors they have. The employees are always very friendly, and slices are priced comparably to other places. I'd definitely recommend going and picking you up a slice. Or several slices.

I stopped by Kevi's Treats today in celebration of their 3rd anniversary…read more It was such a beautiful site to witness! Kevi's Treats is a soul food take out eatery that serves delicious, and I do mean delicious entrées and desserts. This eatery does offer a few countertop stools to relax in while you're waiting for your food to be prepared. Everything is made fresh, so if you're in a rush, I would definitely recommend calling in your order ahead of time. However, it's definitely worth the wait. On this particular occasion, I ordered their "school lunch" special, which is slow roasted turkey breast & gravy served over mashed potatoes, this platter comes with seasoned corn and a dinner roll. This meal was so nostalgic as it truly reminded me of my favorite school lunch. Not only was it nostalgic, but it was also delicious! I also ordered their honey garlic shrimp platter for my spouse, which comes with 2 sides. I opted for green beans and mac & cheese. He had zero complaints! I would like to mention that Kevi's platters are HUGE! This is one of the very few eateries that gives you this much bang for your buck. Two people can easily feed off one platter or one platter can cover 2 meals. However, you slice it. It's definitely worth the $20. When you visit, I would like to encourage you to try their desserts. They are some of the best and most unique desserts you'll ever try.

It pains me to write this review as Wendy, the business owner, seems like such a nice woman…read more Unfortunately the cake that she made for my wedding was awful - it was the sore thumb in an otherwise remarkable day. The cake itself was dry, the icing was sloppy, and the whole thing was crooked - all to the tune of over $300. When Wendy delivered the cake she mentioned that it had "shifted" in transit, but I was having my hair done at the time, so I was unable to get a look at it before she left - not that seeing it then why'd have fixed anything. Later she was tagged in a wedding photo of the cake the clearly showed the tilt, and when people pointed it out, she dismissed it as an optical illusion. She claimed that it only "looked" crooked because of mirrors flanking the cake, though she had earlier admitted to me that it had shifted. She then untagged her business from the photo so that it would not appear in her photos. I've never addressed the issue with her as I just assume not deal with the "optical illusion" defense that would only make me more bitter over the whole thing. However, I would always recommend that people go elsewhere for their cakes. In this case, I truthfully believe I would have been better served with grocery store cupcakes on a tiered display.
