Their lattes are always so rich and tasty. I tried their French toast and cookie dough bites yesterday as well. The French toast was tasty and made on cinnamon swirl brioche. It was a bit tougher than I would have preferred, maybe due to the brioche or maybe was left on too long. It was still good overall. I also would have preferred softened butter on the side. Trying to spread refrigerated butter is not ideal. The dough bites were also good, but they were either a bit over-baked or a bit dry due to the lack of egg I'm presuming. read more

So many choices to choose from that I couldn't pick just one sweet treat... so purchased 5. Starting with the two croissants, the buttery croissant was light and flaky and full of flavor. Darn good size too. The strawberry croissant was similar in texture with a nice addition of strawberry flavor powder on top and jam the middle. Delish. You know these were freshly made for this day. Who doesn't love cinnamon buns? These are really good. The pastry, cinnamon, and frosting all come together for a nice sweet pastry treat. I did not eat the whole lemon blueberry donut (but I did take a bite) and I did like what I tasted. I'm not huge on lemon but I love the blueberry mix. The pecan rye scone was very good. You scone fans will enjoy the pecan flavor overtones. I my favorite was the zucchini muffin. Bite after bite was just fantastic. It's been a while (too long) since I've been here. I came a few weekends ago in the morning. The cafe was busy and buzzing, yet the staff was super patient as I made my choices (not an easy option!) I picked up a vegan donut and french toast to bring to my friend. She didn't eat it in front of me but I'm sure she enjoyed it. Both looked excellent and it was tough not to try it myself! The first time I tried one of Sweet Praxis' turnovers it made me stop in my tracks and leave a pastry crime scene in my wake because of how flakey the puff pastry was. The turnover soooo good and absolutely packed with flavor! Both the veggie and meat versions I've tried have been killer and they're my go-to choice. Aside from savory things Sweet Praxis carries plenty of, well, sweets! They always look beautiful. I was recently dazzled by the appearance of a citrus meringue tart. The nice thing about the bakery is they always have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options, and there are gluten-free and dairy-free indicators too. Drink options all come with the choice of whole milk or oat milk. I'm a big fan of their matcha latte. You have the option to eat in or take away- there are a decent number of tables in the cafe, though I would say the vibe is more take-n-go. This place is truly excellent. I came up to Syracuse to sample a few of the dessert places I never got the chance to try, and this place was one of them. And certainly the best of them all by far, which exceeded the hype I got from my friends. Many dessert places load up on the sugar in a way that masks flavor, but The Sweet Praxis is different. In everything I tried, I could tell there is care put in to balance the sweetness, flavor, and texture of all of their desserts. I truly enjoyed every bite. The chocolate tart had a perfect crispy crunch with a touch of saltiness to the crust and a rich but flavorful chocolate mousse filling. The hibiscus donut was delightfully fluffy and airy with a delicious hibiscus frosting that was just right, not overly sweet, and very flavorful in contrast to the donuts own doughy flavor. The macaroons had that perfect delicate crunch with a very smooth cream (and they were wonderfully presented). It was an experience, despite being takeout in my car. This shop is very specific in categorizing their vegan and gluten free options, which I appreciate. They also just make items that are vegan and gluten free rather than creating a "GF version" of another item, which I think is great for inclusiveness (though perhaps also means the top items might be out of stock when you get there!). To me, this shows that these options, to them, are not merely an afterthought, but are a given as part of their menu creation. I can say with confidence that this is now THE dessert spot for me in Syracuse (though they also have savory items as well, too!). Wow. I love this place. The people are swell (one of the staffers and I were wearing the same mask!) and the space is cool but honestly, the food is so good I cannot say no. Drive 73 miles to start the day with special-blend Recess coffee latte plus fancy avocado toast (tartine) and a stuffed French toast treat. Ended the day with a chocolate boo-tiful cream puff. I got the vegan box as the flavors of macarons and cookies sounded delicious. It was expensive but I didn't care because it was a special occasion. However we were extremely disappointed in this box. Everything inside (minus lemon lavender cookies) were hard as rock/stale, some even inedible. The lemon lavender cookies were tasty but bland. I thought maybe this is due to the desserts being vegan? The Frenchest Toat was very similar to the almond croissant; they used the same almond paste and silvered almonds, yum! I was not a fan of the apple cider doughnut, it had no apple flavor and just tasted like cinnamon and sugar. In fact there was so much undussolved sugar the texture was crunchy. I have been wanting to come here for the longest time. This place lived up to the hype I'd been building up to in my head and from Instagram. The person who took my order behind the array of delectable treats/counter was helpful, patient, and kind. Which I surely apprenticed, because I'm the kind of person who sometimes mulls over my order for too long. I also asked her what she liked, and she didn't guide me wrong. Walking into The Sweet Praxis was like walking into a fairyland with pastels and modern lighting and high windows where you could smugly smile at onlookers whilst holding your lavender macaron. I love Glazed and Confused, but tbh Glazed and Confused donuts are more for the average joe, they're donuts everyone would like, whereas The Sweet Praxis donuts are innovative and creatively daring and fresh and more Los Angelos inspired. Not for everyone, but certainly a twist. I appreciate them. I especially loved the Oreo-like cookies. They were grand and thick, and if you've ever been to Bouchon bakery in NYC, then you might be familiar with them as they mimic the TKO. They're like a bite of hot chocolate. The cookie part is rich and ever so crumbly and you kind of just want to nibble; the dark chocolate cocoa really hits you as it caves into your teeth--a little gritty from the granulated sugar, but really a worthy cookie. Another treat: the lavender trail mix cookie. I will be the first to oppose trail mix, which I think is boring and unappetizing. I pick out the M&Ms regarding the rest as squirrel food. But these cookies were yummy. You have to like lavender, which I of course adore. I was going to save some of this for my trail mix loving mom, but I selfishly finished off the cookie. There was the most beautiful shortbread cookie with edible flowers impressed on the top. It looked like the princess/fairy food of my eight year old dreams. I also indulged in some quiche. It was jalapeño, bacon, scallion, bell-pepper and it was magnificent: creamy, cheesy, flavorful, even the crust was golden brown and flaky. It almost tasted like the sous-vide egg bites from Starbucks. Same consistency, where the egg becomes tender and luscious. I bought three macarons for my niece as it was her bday. The blueberry cream cheese, lavender, and chocolate. When I brought them to her, we (her, my other niece, and I) sampled each. Although I enjoyed them, and thought they were perfectly executed, my nieces preferred vanilla. Whatever. So come here and feel like you're in LA because the Sweet Praxis is just a wonderland of special treats, homemade syrups for their Recess coffee, lemonades, bagels, scones, croissants, salads, and hipster, trendy, and tasty products. read more

Never have my politics and my stomach aligned so well! Praxis has gender neutral, family friendly restrooms (huzzah for moms and babies), vegan options, and a compost specific container. I hate it when a spot gives you industrial compostable cups or utensils, but the only option to stick them is the trash. Not so at Sweet Praxis. Staff is friendly and attentive. There was a long line when I was there and they facilitated each transaction efficiently. I got the Golden Oat latte (on point), matcha and chocolate macaroons, and shortbread. All were phenomenal. For a bakery, nothing was overly sweet. You can tell their pastry chef has been well trained. So so so good! read more
