A little hard to find if you don't know what you're looking for. Looks like part of an auto repair shop if you drive by too quickly. But the interior is cute with seating for about 20. It's close to Township 5 so I ate there before seeing a movie at the Marcus theater. As is typical for a place like this a lot of takeout businesses. Staff is super friendly. The cinnamon roll was good but the breakfast sandwich (on an everything sourdough roll) and the patty melt (smashburger, next time I'm going to ask if I can get a double patty for a better burger to bread ratio) were both fantastic, in large part to the fantastic bread.

I have been meaning to get here for a while as it is one of my colleagues favorite places. Since I was in the area to shop at Costco anyway, I decided to stop by to grab breakfast sandwiches to go. Their online ordering system was very easy. They are always posting yummy specials on their facebook page. I have heard about their homemade biscuits, so I decided to get my breakfast sandwich on that. It was very flaky and bigger than I expected! The sausage also tasted homemade and the chipotle mayo was chefs kiss! while the restaurant is small, it is super cute and the staff is very friendly. I definitely want to get back soon and try their homemade cinnamon buns.

I stopped in The Mixing Bowl for some after school treats for my children. I decided to grabbed breakfast for myself. I chose their breakfast burrito and my choice of protein was sausage. Something like this is never my first choice for breakfast(not a huge breakfast person lol) but the burrito was delicious, nice crisp to the tortilla, the filling was plentiful. I was full after eating half the burrito. I also picked up a half moon cookie, death by chocolate cupcake, espresso cupcake, funfetti cupcake(not pictured because my littlest got to it). This is not our first time here, it's one of our favorite places. Below I'll highlight some other items l've tried. My go to sandwich is The Fenix: crispy pork belly, lettuce tomato onions, cheddar, chipotle mayo on house ciabatta bread. Simple yet flavorful. Tomato Bacon Jam Burger: I wanted to try something new other than my go to sandwich. Unfortunately this wasn't a favorite. This is just my preference but it was too salty for my liking. I was hoping for a balance of salty and sweet. I make my bacon jam a bit sweet. But I will try their other burger options out. Both sandwich and burger were a great size for the price. Their baked goods are always a hit with our family. We ordered a bunny cake for Easter and it was perfect for our occasion. Service is always great.

Take all my money! This place is such a gem! Everything I've tried here has been absolutely fresh and delicious. I love the cold brew coffee and all of the sweet and savory treats. The employees here are SO nice also, which makes me want to throw even more money at them! The sticky and cinnamon buns are divine and I buy one every time I come. Breakfast sandwiches are fresh and hot, and they have yummy spread options like maple mayo. I always get mine on a fresh baked biscuit. They had fresh baked breads like sourdough and jalapeño cheddar focaccia, and baked goods like cookies, scones, cupcakes, trifles, eclairs, and biscotti. They have rotating specials that sound amazing like tomato, spinach and mozzarella quiche (had to grab a slice.) Lots of options, super fresh, super friendly, strong coffee, I'll definitely be back!!

The place is not all that cute, but my sandwich was fantastic!! I got the MJ (grilled chicken, fig jam, bacon, fresh mozzarella, and apple on a ciabatta roll.) Had a nice watermelon iced tea with it and a slice of cheesecake that was good, but seemed to be a day old. Everything looked great on the menu and all the different desserts. I absolutely know I will come back to try some more things.

Kaehla Gardner has been baking professionally for eight years, most recently at Crazy Daisies in Onondaga Hill. She and her husband, Jon, rented the space that had previously been home to the popular Second Chance Diner. They spent a few months renovating the cozy kitchen and dining room and opened the Mixing Bowl as a bakery/café. She focuses on the baking and the front counter while Jon works the grill. Wife and I recently stopped in looking for an early lunch after a Costco trip. We'd been here before when it was the Second Chance Diner, so we knew right where it was. It's a small place, but has a decent sized parking lot and a couple booths/tables if you want to have your food there. It's been nicely redecorated inside, with all their deserts laid out behind a class case. Both Kaehla and her husband were both very nice to us, helping us through the menu and what they had to offer. My wife ordered a Cuban sandwich special and I ordered the chicken caprese sandwich. Our food took about 15 minutes or so to come out. We split half of each sandwich for each of us to try. We liked both, but bother agreed the Cuban was better. The chicken on the caprese seemed like it could've used a little more seasoning, or more balsamic to punch up the flavor. We ordered 2 deserts on the way out, a strawberry cream cheese roll and a whoopie pie. Both were good, but both were on the dry side and on the verge of too sweet for us. Pricing was comparable to other similar establishments. While nothing was bad, we didn't find anything that really blew us away food wise. Owners were extremely nice people though so we'd recommend everyone go there and give it a try.

Been meaning to get here for a while and finally made it. I went around opening on the weekday and there were a few other folks popping in and out, but not busy. The owners seemed super friendly. I went with a build your own breakfast sandwich, on a brioche bun. The bread was super soft and the egg was fried. It was tasty, though my breakfast sandwich tastes tend to skew towards scrambled or runny yolks on croissants so don't know that it would be my first choice, but it was still tasty. The star of the show was the cinnamon bun which was served still warm, which seems to be the norm. There's buzz about these babies for a reason. Perfect fluffiness and pull-apartness, the ideal amount of frosting, and of course, perfectly warm and comforting on a winter morning (or any morning.) Definitely make sure to get here early enough to get one of these beauties fresh out of the oven! PS-- This place has perfect natural lighting for food photos. :D

The Mixing Bowl has the best baked goods in CNY! Lemon Bar. If you like lemon, you will love this dessert. This is the absolute best lemon curd I've ever had. Lemon Blueberry Cake. This is my favorite dessert that they have. The cake is moist and the flavors are incredible. It appears heavy but is actually very light. So good! Blueberry Scone. Simple, flaky, and delicious. It's great with your morning coffee. Cinnamon Roll. Better than any other I've had. The frosting is not overly sweet and compliments the roll perfectly. Chocolate Chip Cookie. I love a good cookie. It's amazing how many places can't do a basic chocolate chip cookie well. This one lands in my top 3 easily! Cute little place and the staff/owners are amazing!

The service here was fantastic, they were so kind and even though it was busy they were very attentive! The food here was also delicious so many options and baked goods were soooo good! I highly recommend their peanut butter cookies!!

I try to stop here whenever I'm in the area. I just love the vibe and the owners. I went for lunch last Saturday with my sister. I had the patty melt which was delicious!! A cup of coffee and we split a cinnamon bun. The pecan sticky bun was fresh and amazing!!! I'm always happy when I have lunch here. My sister enjoyed her lunch also which was a grilled cheese on sourdough bread.

A bakery and breakfast/lunch shop with some seating indoors. I did the BYO breakfast sandwich. Prob the only place around here you can get pork belly on a breakfast sandwich. It was very good. My only note is that I wish the pork belly was a bit more tender and less fried. Regardless, I would get it again. The lemon bar was delish, tangy with a thick, buttery crust. Cinnamon roll was also amazing after being heated in microwave for 20 sec. Not dry at all. The raspberry swirled brownie initially had me hemming and hawing but as the flavors developed more I enjoyed it. Also, very moist and almost a creamy texture. Staff are friendly!

Walking through the restaurant was nice as the space was very large and the decor indoor was cozy and whimsical. Our server was nice throughout the meal. However, I did get a water glass that had marks on it that looked like someone just drank out of it and a crumb on the rim. I asked them if they could get me a clean cup and they ended up bringing the same one as the same mark and crumb were still there. For food, our table ordered a few items to share. We got: -CAULIFLOWER WINGS: The chutney/salsa on top of the fried cauliflower was nice and gave the item a little sour kick. However, the cauliflower itself was not cooked fully so not as soft as I wanted it to be. -SYRACUSE POUTINE: The appearance of the poutine was not the best. However, the gravy it came with was very flavorful and tasty. The potatoes themselves were not fried and were in wedge form but went well with the gravy. The small globs of melted cheese on top were a nice complement. -CAJUN SLIDERS: The slider compliments/sauce went well together but the sliders themselves had grill marks on it which gave a bitter bite to those parts of the slider. Additionally, the fried shrimp inside of the slider still had the tail on and so it was a bit of a surprise to bite into a full tail while eating a slider. All in all, a cute spot to see people but food had some hit or miss components.

While it is located in a 1800s-era building, the "saltbox" in its name actually refers to its method of curing more than 15 varieties of bacon, one of the specialties of the establishment at 6152 Barclay Road in Sodus, the former home to the Heluva Good! Country Store. The deli/restaurant is a dream fulfilled for the husband-and-wife team of James and Sara Wheaton. The pair enjoyed spending time together in the kitchen and started cooking for large events such as her sister's wedding. With supporters encouraging them to take their cuisine to the next level, they hunted for a place to house a restaurant for more than a year. Finally, the building off Route 104 struck a chord. The eatery serves as both deli and restaurant. Cured and smoked meats, such as bacon, smoked turkey, pastrami and pork loin, can be ordered on their own from the counter. Bacon comes in 15 flavors including apple bourbon, garlic, maple and horseradish. My wife and I recently stopped into the Saltbox on a whim while in the area, after passing the sign for them many times in between trips to Rochester. Small building, and there were already a couple customers there at right around noon on a Saturday. You order at the counter, then sit at one of the 6-8 tables they have in the nicely renovated building, and they bring you your food. They have daily specials, and this days were burnt ends. We both ordered sandwiches - my wife ordered the "On Top of Old Smokey", a sandwich with smoked cheesy meatballs on a sub roll, with a spicy tomato sauce and provolone, served with chips, and I went with the Steakhouse Sandwich, a sandwich filled with brisket, bacon, spicy pickles, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion on a roll, and I swapped out the chips for a side of bacon mac and cheese for an upcharge. We also got a 1/4 lb of the burnt ends to try. The dining area filled up quickly, but our food was brought pretty quickly. We really enjoyed our sandwiches, especially the meatballs which had a great flavor. The mac and cheese was bland, but I have yet to find good mac and cheese at a restaurant in CNY. But the star were the burnt ends - absolutely bursting with flavor, straight up meat candy. Wife and I could've made a meal just outta those. The price is comparable to other BBQ places. The service was fine - employees weren't exactly enthused to be there. No one was rude or anything, but we almost got the feeling we were being bothersome to them, but could've been an off day. We would definitely go back to try other stuff, or just for them burnt ends.
