Restaurant in the lobby of the collegian hotel made it convenient to get dinner after a long day. There is also a bar. The bartender/waitress was a rockstar. She was the only one serving and bartending to a very full restaurant on a Saturday night. When we walked in, we sat at a table making it four tables in total, with two of the tables having big parties and the bar almost completely full. The food was very good as well. The outside is nice but o do feel some areas need an upgrade like some cushions on the couches in some areas. I had the avocado toast it was healthy and the fruit was very good. Salt Restaurant resides inside the Collegian Hotel. Their inhouse restaurant. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner fare. Decent hours. But a bit confusing when you want to come and use it. I decided after my walk around of the area I wanted to get food but not have to go anywhere. With the hotel given me money to use towards food I decided I would get something from here. Less traveling around for me. I showed up to the location and waited at the host stand. Because it told me to wait here to be seated. I stood there for about five minutes and was about to head to the bar to see if I needed someone to show me to a seat. At the same time the bartender asked me if I wanted a seat. She suggested the bar, but I preferred a table. My initial thought was to eat inside and enjoy myself. The bartender appeared to be the only person working that night. Which was odd, the whole restaurant, including bar, manned by one person. When she approached my table she brought a menu and filled my water cup. She went back to tend at the bar. Before she came back to take my order there appeared to be a mayoral debate for Syracuse coming on television. Then the place started to fill up as people that were in attendance for an event came into the restaurant area to watch the debate on all the televisions. And lo and behold one of the mayoral candidates were in attendance. They started cheering and continued to cheer as the debate went on. When the bartender did come back, I had my order ready but asked if I could get it to go as I didn't want to be there for this and I had no interest about the mayor race in a city I was just visiting. Honestly, they kept getting louder as well. I ended up ordering their Fried Haddock Tacos and asked if they had sides. She informed me that this didn't come with any sides, which I could tell by reading the menu, but I wanted a side of fries. She said she could do that and put my order in. I had to wait a bit, even though I was the only person ordering food. Finally came, handed over my hotel voucher and headed to my room. The fries, were kind of laughable. Instead of anything that resembled fries, they looked more like breakfast potatoes or wedges. But these were basically the best thing I had from here. The fried haddock tacos were just not tasty, kind of bland. They come with pico de gallo, shredded lettuce, and lime creama. There was no taste to this at all, not even an hint of salt on the fried fish. Also, the fried fish pieces were just a little too big for the tortillas they used as the soft shell. For not really having to pay for the food, I probably shouldn't complain. However, it just felt like this was thrown together rather quickly and without any care. read more

Attended a paint and sip event here and have never been to this restaurant before. It was empty on a Monday night but staff (chef/bar tender) were friendly and quick! Seasonal cocktails were amazing, a must try. Best Amaretto Sour I've had! Blackened chicken tacos were flavorful and chicken was delicious! Very filling. We took a couple from Ohio here for a reunion dinner on a Tuesday night. The place was virtually empty, with only a few people at the bar, and one other young couple at a table near the bar. The last time we were here it felt like fine dining. This time, it felt more like a typical hotel restaurant, with the muted and rather dull decor, too bright lighting and lack of atmosphere. The remodel took all of the class and replaced i with a bland emptiness. Yet... our server was excellent, and the food exceeded expectations. The beef dinner was outstanding, and the salmon and mahi-mahi (they were out of grouper) were perfectly cooked and well plated. Wine was on par and the cocktails and beer were adequate. Plus, the prices were extremely reasonable. One other positive was that we could converse and catch up with each other quite easily, since there was literally no noise from other diners. I hope the restaurant succeeds, but with so few diners, I'm not sure that they will. read more

Beer recommendations: None It's just a clean hotel bar. Service was nice but very slow. So slow we left to walk down the street since there are plenty of better options. Turned out to be a wise move, multiple people we knew felt ill after eating food there. "Pub" burgers looked undercooked and quite sloppy. Drinks were heavy but made with poor quality mixers. This restaurant is inside of the Collegian hotel in downtown. The place is cozy with kind of an open floor plan adjacent to the lobby of the hotel. The food was a little pricey but they have happy hour offerings to make up for it. The food we did order came out looking chef-level! I was super impressed by the foods that came to our table. The French onion soup and the creme brulee were super! The entrees were on point. The service was a little awkward and lax, but she was nice enough. read more

They are among only 2 other restaurants in the area, who know how to make authentic "Egg Benedict" without overcooking it. I almost always order it from them on Saturdays. Many other breakfast placed just always overcook it. read more

It was ok at best. We came on a Sunday brunch morning. There were plenty of tables "open" but unbussed. The server was completely swamped, but we didn't understand why as there were only 3 tables there: the two of us, a big family table and a couple. There were just dishes piled everywhere, anywhere there was an open table. The food was also super lackluster, tasted like sad room service, cuz thats probably what it was. We got wings, soup and tacos to share and everything was cold and we literally sat outside the kitchen. The wings were dry and tasted like microvable frozen wings. I'm here on business and looking for somewhere to eat. This popped up but not any reviews so I thought I'd take a chance. It is located in the Scholar hotel. The restaurant and bar is super clean and modern. I sat at the bar and had a double Tito's for $11. I had the special, the shrimp seviche for an appetizer and the 14oz hand cut New York strip with mashed potatoes, roasted broccolini, and 2 grilled shrimp. I'm not sure why this place isn't advertised more. Bottomless mimosas for $13 each! They have a nice indoor and outdoor set up as well. The brunch menu isn't very extensive, but my French toast was pretty good. I really enjoyed my friend's salmon Benedict. Honestly when I walked in here I wasn't expecting to have the brunch that I had. when I sat down I was a bit hesitant with the food selection and the general ambience of the restaurant. However the customer service, specifically Tammy, is incredible and the experience was elevated as soon as she became a part of our day. The food is above average and good prices, however the customer service is incredible, and don't forget bottomless mimosas for everyone!!!!!!!!! I had the best French onion bread bowl ever from here. The bread was delicious, the soup and cheese was perfectly blended in my opinion. I think about it often lol. Went for a Saturday lunch, limited menu and not very interesting. The restaurant is a bit loud, could use some sound insulation.

I had brunch here and everything about the restaurant was mediocre. It had a bad ambiance, the tables weren't set. It's menu was extremely basic, without any original breakfast lunch fusion dishes. It took us about 30 minutes to get our check even though the place was empty. I was disappointed in my experience here especially because it's such a great location, but nothing is done to make it memorable. read more

This is a hidden gem! Had the brunch burger cooked to perfection with a sunny side up egg and the BEST homemade fries I have ever had! Husband had the fish sandwich and it was delicious! The fried fish was delicately fried and tasted light and crispy. We started with the nachos and there were so good we were getting full by the time our food arrived. They tossed the tomatoes in what tasted like cilantro and fresh lime juice. It was amazing! We will definitely be back!!! read more

When walking into the hotel the staff at the desk are very friends and helpful. I love when walking in somewhere and the first thing you see is someone smiling at you, makes you feel welcomed. Best dinner I've had in Syracuse in quite some time. I got take out, and even in the Styrofoam containers the salads were arranged artistically. The entrées were seasoned perfectly, the sides were perfectly paired, and the desserts simply divine. We will definitely return for both take out and dine in when it's safe to do so. read more
