Stopped by Bistro 1926 at Drumlins on a rainy day and found it to be a welcoming spot with a great atmosphere. We arrived before 5pm and it was quiet and peaceful, offering beautiful views of the golf course. By 7pm it was a packed house. Get there early. Tried the Southwest Chicken Salad, which was fresh and flavorful, and paired it with a seltzer. The food was solid, and the service was just as good & our waitress was attentive and friendly, making the experience even better. What a perfect spot! We loved it here as the staff was amazing and the food was delicious! Every bite was so flavorful and yummy! Unless you are going for an early lunch, we would definitely recommend a reservation, but we got lucky with a quiet lunch. Located on a golf course but it's open to the public. One Star is Too Generous - Worst Dining Experience of My Life I had the absolute misfortune of dining at Drumlin's Bistro 1926 in Syracuse this past Sunday, and I genuinely cannot remember a worse restaurant experience. We arrived for our reservation at 1:15 PM. The hostess who seemed more confused than welcoming, stood around awkwardly until 1:30, and even then, weren't seated until 1:45. After finally sitting down and finally ordering, we waited another 90 minutes before our appetizers arrived--at 3:15 PM. By then, we were starving and already frustrated. Unfortunately, things only went downhill from there. Our meals showed up lukewarm at best, and some dishes were outright cold. The food was bland, poorly prepared, and absolutely not worth the wait. To top it all off, when we voiced our concerns, the manager offered a sarcastic and dismissive apology as if we were the problem. It was insulting and unprofessional. This was, without exaggeration, the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Between the absurd wait times, the inedible food, and the staff's lack of concern, I will never return--and I'll be warning others to stay far away. read more

Hubby and I went on a little date night and checked out this quaint little place that's connected to Drumlin's Club House. Made reservations ahead of time so we were seated as soon as we got there. Atmosphere and lighting were both really nice. SU was playing that night so of course the game was visible at any angle! Our waitress was very pleasant and greeted us shortly after we sat down. Wine and beer list had a decent amount of options which was nice. Hubby went with the Moscow mule and myself with a glass of Riesling. Both were great. For starters hubby ordered the New England clam chowder and I got the French onion soup. Being a complete food snob, finding a decent French onion has been pretty tough... but I can honestly say that I was VERY pleasantly surprised! Apps took a little while to come out (which was a small downside), but once they did mannnn were they worth it! French onion was ON POINT! Broth was super dark, which definitely matched its depth of flavor. Onions were perfectly cooked and the two crostinis had a slight toast in the top with a super soft-broth soaked bottom! And to top it off, pun intended, The Gruyère cheese was perfectly melted and oozing over the sides! Hubby's clam chowder was super yummy as well! Soup base wasn't overly thick, but the creaminess did not lack and the flavor was great! Definitely recommend both! For our main courses, Hubby went with the evening special of pan seared scallops over a bed of creamy risotto and blistered tomatoes and I opted for the pastrami reuben and steak fries. Hubby's dish was great! Scallops were perfectly cooked, risotto was uber creamy and the tomatoes added a really nice touch. Very enjoyable. Mine on the other hand, was a smidge disappointing. The house made pastrami had more of a plain brisket feel to it. Not to say that the tenderness wasn't great, because it was, but it didn't have the flavor that I was hoping for with a traditional pastrami. The pickled red cabbage in combo with the thousand island also made it a little too sweet for me. Was it a bad sandwich? No... but would I order it again? Probably not... and would it deter me from coming back and trying something else on the menu? Absolutely not! Overall, I'd say that our first trip to Bistro 1926 was a pretty good one! Very impressed with their brunch! I love the riffs they take on classics. Their breakfast burger it awesome! The homemade hasbrowns are a must. I tried many of the cocktails on their list and they were all well crafted. I hosted a large group here for brunch and everyone was raving about the cinnamon rolls. Prices are super fair too! My only critique is that they could definitely up their coffee game. That said, I definitely recommend checking this place out. read more

The place looked nice n clean with small bar behind the seating area. I was seated right away by the hostess who it turns out was also my waitress . The menu wasn't that extensive but it had some good choices on it. No over easy or sunny side u p eggs but they did have eggs Benedict on the menu. I ordered a croissant with bacon egg and cheese and a coffee with cream only. The waitress was nice enough. It looked like she was pretty busy. I ordered one cup of coffee and found it impossible to get her attention for a second cup. She seemed overworked w too many tables although I saw two other wait staff, they were only waiting on two other booths. There were waitstaff bringing orders out of the kitchen to some her tables. When I finally got her attention and asked for another cup and ask her if it would be much longer on the food because it had already been a good hour she explained the kitchen was backed up and it shouldn't be too much longer. She said she would get me another cup of coffee . She was also clearing off tables with no other customers waiting n still no coffee. Our food finally came. She never came back to see how everything was still no coffee! I was almost finished n she finally stopped to ask if there would be anything else ? I reminded her I never received my second cup. Or the n asked for the syrup I requested when I ordered. She apologized and brought me a cup of coffee and syrup. I'm not sure but it seemed she was overwhelmed n inexperienced. There were no other customers waiting to be seated so It seemed she could've brought a second cup coffee during that long wait for my food or checked to see if any thing else was needed or how my food was. Anyway, I packed up my leftover hash browns n syrup. I enjoyed a 2nd cup of coffee, which by the way was very good . My sandwich was good too. The bacon egg n cheese croissant was good and came with a nice garnish of buttered lettuce with a light vinaigrette dressing on it which I didn't expect, The hash browns were shaped like triangles n pretty good. After having my first dinner here I can happily say there are a few things I'd come back for. Starting with the porcini pasta dish I had as my entree. If you love mushrooms you'll love this dish. The portion was enough for two meals - it made a great lunch the next day! The other item I'd come back for are their wings. It was a beautiful day today and I wanted to have lunch outside and they have that here. It's on the golf course so it's pleasant outside with round outdoor metal tables. We went inside and were told to sit anywhere outside we wanted. The bartender took our order and he was very friendly. They have a small menu but that's ok because I would rather they have less and do it well. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger medium rare and my friend the chicken riggies (they serve them mild, medium or hot). I was very happy they let me substitute salad for the fries. The burger was cooked perfectly and tasty, the salad was big and used mixed baby greens with cherry tomatoes, red onion and shredded carrots. My friend liked her riggies and she said it had alot of chicken. A waiter came around and filled our water carafe (love this because I drink a lot of water). It was a very relaxing lunch and I recommend to try it if your in the area. read more

Stopped in for a light dinner. This was this was the first time eating since the installation of the new management. Was very happy and had a wonderful meal. They were busy but attentive. Service was solid. My salad was perfect: fresh and tasty. I even splurged for dessert - an excellent slice of carrot cake that tasted as good as it looked; presentation was A+, just a work of visual art! Very happy, satisfied and content. When I asked for a double shot of my vodka, the bill came with a $2.00 "rocks" charge. The manager couldn't take the time to listen to my question and gave me a nonsensical answer. While our food was OK, the attitude of the mgr was unacceptable. Beware of this rocks charge. We won't return. read more

Great setting, delicious food, good service. We had shrimp scampi and salads, and everything was fresh and beautifully presented. Cocktails were excellent. Whether you like patio dining or indoor dining, this is a great option on the east side of Syracuse/DeWitt. Happy hour is from 3-6 weekdays. Newly reopened, they are still working out the kinks. For example, we noticed a few price discrepancies between amount on the menu and what got put on the check, but quickly resolved. Fun fact. Syracuse University owns this restaurant and the golf club. Yup. One star. And it may sound petty to some but it's based on principle. And it's hard for me to do to a business but as I told the manager; who admitted it is a common complaint, I'd amend this review and make it 5 start one if they openly, on their webpage, announced their error, apologized and promised to never do it again. As part of my $168.00 meal recently, was 2 top shelf scotches, (on the rocks) the bill itemized everything, including 2 $2 dollar charges, for "cubes" (ice) I did speak to the manager to tell him the meals were great and so was the service, but I won't be back. The manager, also the pro-shop manager, was quite nice, and tried to explain "cubes" really meant an added fee associated with the extra half oz associated with "on the rocks" pours. He acknowledged it literally says "cubes" and manager above him is who chose to do things this way. The restaurant and the golf course are owned by Syracuse University, so of course there are redundant levels of management; and likely the wrong people making decisions about scamming gouge jobs like this. I'm not buying the "on the rocks pour". This subtle scam job happens everywhere, and it's usually attached to items purchased by people that appreciate the better things in life (top shelf drinks) not it happens everywhere. ie: high line cars, dealership service repairs, healthcare, homes, clothing, even internet streaming services. You see, during these unprecedented times of outrageous times of inflation, it's the perfect time to sneak in some gouging. And many times the people that aren't seeking the economy, bargain brand, will overlook it, or just accept it as part of inflation. It's not. It's very calculated and deliberate. And someone at the decision making level of SU chose to gouge. I never asked to have the charge removed. I paid, as everyone should. Tipped well. And will never be back, as long as they have this mentality. I'd rather spend $268 at a place that has better scruples. I know my decision (and review) probably won't matter much to their bottom line profits, or their busy times, with regulars. But it should. If behavior like this is not called out and dissolved, it will spread as normal practices elsewhere. Think of your garbage service that tried a fuel surcharge when gas became expensive. They got away with it and when prices went to all time lows, it didn't go away. Think about your cel phone company that got away with added surcharges that takes their legal department to explain. I could go on. But hey, it's a small charge that's not worth mentioning! These practices make a lot of creative scamming gougers a lot of money. Rant over. I hope they change their ways, but I won't hold my breath. I have a better chance asking anybody that reads this, and goes (you may not even get a drink "on the rocks" (and I have no doubts your meal will be great), but ask them about their "cubes charge" policy decisions. Mention me by name. If everyone asks. It just might shame them into an honest business. With all patrons. Especially the ones that don't mind spending a little extra for the good stuff. THOSE people shouldn't be scammed for it. read more

The food is very good but the service on a busy night is disappointing. There are not enough servers to handle the diners. One night, we waited an hour to finally get served and get our meals. Upon entering, we were dismayed by how extraordinarily loud it was. There was a musician playing and only noticed him by sight as it was so loud you could not hear him playing. Luckily, it was a nice night, so we ate outside. However, note that the eating area is right by the pool, so was relieved it hadn't opened yet. The food was reasonably good, but not outstanding. Went here for lunch during the day. The restaurant is newly renovated and looked nice. The food was really good. I had the steak flatbread with caramelized onions for an appetizer. The steak was really tender and nicely cooked. Next was the Cuban sandwich which was also fantastic. I thought the prices were fair for the quality of food you are getting. read more
