Hired Seattle Fireplace off of Yelp because of favorable reviews. My experience with this company was very different than most of the reviews posted so I'm highlighting the experience I had replacing a blower fan: 1) replaced current fireplace blower fan with considerably lower CFM model. The fan barely blows hot air out of my fireplace. 2) When serviceman put fireplace back together, he did not connect correctly the gas/air mix and my entire home smells like a gas station when turning on the fireplace. 3) He cleaned the glass with a solution that when the fireplace is turned on, it burned the glass jet black and covered the outside of my home with black soot 3 stories up and no way to clean. 4) The gentleman who installed the new blower fan was extremely slow and completely too old to still be working in this field. I felt sorry for him trying to screw everything back into place and after he finished the bid job, he actually charged me more because the job took longer than the bid, nice touch Seattle Fireplace. 5) Scheduling them to come back out I was told it would be several months. Seattle Fireplace's estimate (and actual bill) was 1/2 what the other place quoted. ... can't recall the other place's name but they were referred by the original builder. Anyhow I decided to use yelp and get a comparison quote assuming I would just go with the place the builder recommended. I'm so glad I did my own research! Seattle Fireplace offered a sooner appointment date by a few weeks and a lower cost! The technician, Enes, arrived on time and was very courteous and efficient. If I could give ZERO stars, I would. We have been trying to get any information from this company specifically Daryll since December regarding the replacement of our fireplace glass door. EXTREMELY vague in their answers "when" he replies to email. Over the course of 3 weeks, no return calls after leaving several VM's, no return emails over the course of 2 weeks. TERRIBLE customer service, finally we gave up and have reached out to another company that actually answers their phone. If they are busy fine, just let me know and give me a timeline. I am surprised by the 5-star reviews here because their customer care is horrible. I cannot recommend them and have told our previous property management company about our new fireplace contact so they can drop Seattle Fireplace from their vendor list. He had all of the parts with him, and tried the least expensive alternative first which I appreciated. While most of the reviews I saw on Yelp about Seattle Fireplace were about repairs to existing fireplaces, they also do installations of new inserts. I reached out to their office and they had their installer, Dave, give me a call. He came by the house to take measurements within a couple days, answered questions, and provided a quote on a recommended model. Over the next couple days I went back and forth on some different options and Dave was happy to respond with updated quotes via email. I compared their pricing to 2 other local companies and they were very similar. We placed our deposit and were told the install would take place in about 4 weeks. Sure enough, 4 weeks later Dave emailed me to schedule coming by that Sunday. The crew was polite, cleaned up, and were able to efficiently solve a couple unexpected items with the installation. We are very happy with the service and quality of the work. The fireplace looks amazing and Seattle Fireplace will provide the future servicing or needed repairs. I bought a condo on Alki back in June and had my gas fireplace serviced in August because it stopped working. They came out, got the fireplace working, cleaned it, all good. It recently stopped working again, same problem... I think I sounded pretty impatient and upset in my voicemail and email to Seattle Fireplace, but they called back promptly and set up a time for the servicer to come back oout on Friday to see what the deal is. I've worked in customer service for many years. Most people are pretty unreasonable and rude to small businesses. I apologize if I sounded that way but I promise, it was unrelated to the service they have provided and will provide still. They "fixed" my fireplace pilot last year. Infact replaced it which for the first few months I was happy about. But a few months after my fireplace started fogging up. I called them this year for an appointment and they didn't care to follow up. It turns out the pilot was installed incorrectly and has damaged by glass due to flaming impingement. They installed the pilot in a way that it was burning the glass all this while. No care for after sales service and no sense of ownership. Now I have a glass that needs to be replaced and still need a new pilot. DO yourself a favor and hire folks from Puget Sound Energy Directly unless you want to have bigger problems than ones you had. read more

Seattle Fireplace was responsive - called back the same day of the Yelp inquiry - even though they were closed. They went over potential costs for just a service call and then if any repairs needed to happen. Prior to the appointment, they called to confirm as well. Enes just left my house. This was a first-class experience. I have a 60" linear gas fireplace and the flames were off on the left side. The fireplace has been a headache with installation issues, so having this go wrong really had me stressed. I called them up and made an appointment. Our fireplace has been on the fritz coming into the cold season, so I called to make an appointment-- it was a couple of weeks out, which I was expecting considering the time of year, but I really appreciated the receptionist trying her best to see if there was any way to wiggle me in any earlier. I was given a two-hour window, and my serviceman showed up promptly near the start of it. He took off his shoes before entering, which was lovely of him! He got right to work (laying out towels over the carpet, which I also appreciated), and 20 minutes later, my fireplace is up and running beautifully. After reading all the reviews on Yelp, Google, and Angie's list about how wonderful the service at Seattle Fireplace was, I was so happy to get an appointment to get my gas fireplace serviced. The unit worked when we bought the house but wouldn't turn on by the time we moved in. The service person who showed up (I don't like to call out names on social) took the fireplace apart, fiddled with the remote starter, called back to the home office and (as far as I could tell) complained about the unit for a bit. He then put the unit back together and proceeded to tell me that it was unserviceable. No explanation of why, what the problem likely was, or what my options were (I mean, come on dude, at least try to sell me a new gas insert if you can't fix mine!). He then picked up his stuff and just left. I found him to be rude, impersonal and totally unhelpful. If I had a choice, I would not call this company again. read more

Enes got to work and pulled a spider egg sac out of the pilot. He then centered the insert in the opening (it had been installed off center by the original installer). I didn't call ahead to get an estimate (my bad) so I didn't even really know how much this was going to cost but I wanted to go with Ron because of his great Yelp reviews and the fact that gas fireplaces is what he does. I figured a specialist is better than a jack of all trades for a job like this. He arrived about a half hour after his two-hour window but he did call me half an hour before that window closed to let me know he was running late but would be on his way. He brought an assistant with him, took off his shoes (huge bonus points), and got to work. His assistant cleaned the glass for me and Ron figured out what was up with my non functioning fireplace. The pilot light wasn't working because it'd just been out for a long time. The switch to turn on the fireplace was also going bad (he had gadgets to diagnose stuff) so he went to his truck and got that fixed. Total damage $174. He takes check or credit card. Doing some Googling now and it seems that $100 to $180 is typical for gas fireplace repair but he changed out my switch too so I guess that's a fair price. It's 6pm and he had 3 more jobs to go so he's a busy guy for sure but he was in and out of here in less than 20 minutes and now I have a fireplace that works and that's what we needed. Nice guy who was patient with my dog freaking out too (I'm sure that was the last thing he needed at the end of a long day that was going to get longer). read more

My gas fireplace switch stopped working a while back but we were able to start the fire by going under the fireplace where the wires and pilot controls were and flip a manual switch on - quite a hassle. Anyway, we have friends coming in from out of town this weekend and they will be staying in our condo without us. The fireplace is the center piece of our condo. I needed to find someone quickly to repair it. I found Ron's company and read the Yelp reviews - quite impressive...but will he be consistent? I thought I'd give him a call. In a nutshell? He exceeds expectations. He had planned to take the day off but heard my story and said he'd be at my place first thing in the morning. He was on time and not only did he fix the electrical switch, he cleaned the glass (our fireplace is 3-sided), he pulled the logs, fixed the pilot light, which was operating at about 20%, swept the burners, added ember "stuff" and fixed one of the frames that was bent. I recently used this service in February 2013, after finding great reviews of his service and knowledge. Ron has 20 years experience in the natural gas industry and more recently 8 years doing this Gas Fireplace service. His company is now doing business as Seattle Fireplace LLC. His flat rates are $149 for servicing and cleaning a fireplace, with an additional $75 for an additional fireplace. He worked on two natural gas fireplace inserts that were originally installed in 1996. Beyond this fee, he just charged for parts as needed. Ron is very competent and knowledgeable about gas products, since he has had an extensive career with this product. He is also respectful of your home, as mentioned with his trademark shoe removal and efficient Miele portable hepa vacuum to avoid any chimney dirt landing on your furniture. He ended up cleaning one insert and showing me in detail all the existing options on usage. Features that i was unaware of for many years. Then he ended up replacing non working parts on another insert and I approved preventative replacement of other parts due to the age of the unit. Finally, I authorized the installation of a thermostatically controlled remote control. This resulted in a complete rebuild of the fireplace insert. He provided options and recommendations, but left the decisions to me. The end result were two fireplace inserts sending out warmth and a beautiful fire with polished glass fronts framed with shiny metal trim looking as good as their original installation 18 years ago. I also should mention, that the original store where I purchased the inserts, had recommended replacing one insert due to a lack of original parts. This would have exceed the repair price by more than 2.5 times. Not a very favorable option. I would recommend the work of Ron and a reliable independent small business who demands a happy customer. His workmanship guarantees a continuation of business in the future. read more

On day of service, Enes the technician was punctual, courteous & clean! He left his shoes outside, laid out large towels around the fireplace, vacuumed cleaned outside & inside, wiped the glass spotless, tested the pilot & the switch.
