Palm tree roots had taken over the underground pipes along one side of our property, causing flooding and pooling every time it rained. Not exactly the water feature we had in mind! The solution was no small undertaking. It required cutting through concrete along the entire side of our property, locating and bypassing the compromised pipes, installing new drainage pipes and drains, connecting everything to the curb, and finally, pouring and finishing new concrete to seamlessly match our existing hardscape. SK Concrete handled it masterfully! Their crew arrived on time, was courteous and professional, communicated clearly throughout the project, and worked diligently to ensure every detail was done right. The finished concrete work is exceptional, blending beautifully with what was already there. SK Concrete came highly recommended by our son, and now we understand why! It is a flagstone patio in which he poured a concrete slab, let it set, then came back and set large pieces of flagstone on top in mortar while considering and making the drainage perfect. Not an easy task and needed an absolute professional and forward and smart thinker about the end project. Art Tarantino saw it all immediately and delivered in spades. I did get several other bids, he was the high end of the other bids, and had a longer wait time, but we are so glad we waited and went with him. I was given an excellent variety of bricks/blocks to choose for the wall, and the one I chose was competently installed. I was pleased to note the block I chose would be sourced from RCP in Chula Vista, where I have been a regular customer. The two workers agreed to relocate the existing pavers for my reuse as part of the original job. I really appreciated that. Although I was in no hurry, the job was completed quite expeditiously with the exception of the iron gate, the installation of which was subcontracted (and reviewed separately). He also measured the existing bricks on another tree box in my yard so that he could find bricks to match. On both days of the project, Luis and his coworker showed up on time and did excellent, careful work. I love how they cut the brick into little triangles to make the corners look good. The tree box looks amazing and is a big upgrade from what I had before. The price was exactly as quoted, and Luis gave me a receipt showing the material costs. They also built a flat bad for the air conditioner and were easy to coordinate around with the AC vendor for disconnect/reconnect. Filiberto was friendly to work with and provided a reasonable quote for the work. He gave an itemized quote so we were able to decide what portions of our goal we could achieve with the funding we had available. The final cost exactly matched the quote I received. The team showed up on-time. They were very friendly and required no supervision. The project was cleaned up perfectly when complete. We requested a quote on November 13, began the project on December 10 and did a final walk through on December 30. That was probably a week extended due to delays (with my AC vendor) in moving the AC so the concrete could be poured and the Christmas holiday. I could not be more ecstatic with the final product.
