This is by far the most LAZY, DISORGANIZED, and INCOMPETENT vendor I have dealt with in decades. They make it completely obvious that they only care about profiting off of your loss. Here is exactly what you can expect if you hire them: 1) Property Damage & Lazy Workmanship: Instead of using proper containment adhesives/pins to set up their abatement barriers, they lazily used cheap DUCT tape! When the tape was removed, it completely destroyed the texture on my ceiling (pictures attached). I asked them multiple times for a credit to fix the damage they caused, and they didn't even bother to reply. 2) Shady Billing & Potential Double-Dipping: Their office is incredibly lazy and ignored emails from my insurance adjuster (CAN YOU IMAGINE??). Insurance actually sent them check payments, which PW Stephens didn't even bother to cash. Instead, they came after me to pay out of my own pocket, leaving me completely confused and thinking my insurance didn't cover the work. I suspect they were trying to get double-paid, but I luckily caught them after following up directly with my insurance company. 3) Zero Customer Service or Flexibility: There was a portion of the job that I knew wasn't covered by insurance, so I asked for a cash discount. While every other vendor involved in this project generously offered a cash discount, PW Stephens didn't offer A SINGLE CENT! They just completely ignored the request. 4) Total Administrative Chaos: Their office is a messy, disorganized disaster. They are the first vendor I have ever seen who doesn't put JOB NUMBERS on their estimates (CAN YOU IMAGINE??). It makes an absolute mess out of the paperwork and makes tracking anything impossible. I am actively notifying my mitigation company about all of these issues so they stop recommending this circus to future clients. Save yourself the headache, the administrative nightmare, and the property damage-- go with literally ANYONE else!

We recently moved in and just gotten our asbestos results and wanted to get to abatement ASAP…read more We had Marc who was extremely thorough and helped us understand the process. He was also very accessible as we were able to call and text him if we had any questions. There was an error on our invoice and he corrected it quickly. The abatement team came quickly and were able to remove drywall from our master bedroom, hallway, popcorn ceiling for 2 rooms, and guest bathroom. We were able to add on removal of old cabinets and a fan to ensure there was no asbestos left. Overall they did it very efficiently and safely which I appreciated. The one con I have to mention was when they removed the ceilings fan they misplaced some of the attachments needed to hook the ceiling fan up. We didn't move anything so when we went to assemble it the piece was missing and we needed to buy extra. A lot of the closets and screws they detached were also not organized so it's been difficult assembling our stuff again. They did the job fast and well but I would recommend they organize items they detached better. We still have a few spots to remove asbestos but would consider them again.

After my review, I paid for more tests…read morethrough a certified testing company, which found hazardous levels of asbestos left behind in every room that Watkins worked, ranging from 160% to more than 11,000% above the hazardous limit. (See images) I also contracted a second licensed abatement company to clean up the asbestos Watkins left behind and safely dispose of the carpets/contaminated furniture. Here are some side-by-side comparisons of how the two companies approached asbestos containment. In Sept 2022, I submitted a claim against Watkins through the CA State Licensing Board, which was passed on to an investigator who then escalated the claim to arbitration through the CA State Licensing Board. The arbitration took place in May 2023, and the arbitrator ruled that Watkins must reimburse me for all the damages they caused, which totaled more than $20,000. Watkins paid this in July 2023, and I've finally been able to pay for the last of the work needed to move back into my home.
