I hired KIC to renovate my home after it had been flooded. There were nothing but problems throughout the entire renovation and it was clear to me that the people working in my house were not experienced contractors at all, but just laborers. They had two people painting in my house and the walls were supposed to be flat finish. One guy was painting flat, the other guy was painting satin. Needless to say, I spent months trying to fix all of the mistakes myself. Upon bringing this up to Jason he told me that he got another big job up at Disneyland. They were not going to be able to come back and fix my house for another six months, which was totally unacceptable, since there were so many items they still needed to fix. There was little oversight on the entire job by any kind of supervision. Fast forward, four years, the caulking around my toilet that they installed upstairs in my bathroom was coming apart. After fully removing it, I realized that the toilet was loose and shifting all over the place and rocking. I had a real plumber out, looking at another issue and I had him look at the toilet. The wrong flange was used, they had put two wax rings in when there is only supposed to be one and the toilet was never anchored to the floor. Awful job! The new Plumber cut out some more floor tile around the drain pipe, put the new correct flange in, put one wax ring, drilled four holes into the tile floor and anchored and secured the toilet and trunk correctly. This company uses very inexperienced people that work for them and try to pass them off as plumbers and contractors and that is not what they are. They are just laborers and they are learning as they go often not doing things to code. I would not recommend this company at all. It just cost me over $1,200 to fix their poor craftsmanship on the toilet install. Stay away!!! read more

We worked with KIC (through AAA) for over two months on our water damaged bathrooms and bedroom. The first part of the project was the mitigation of damage. We worked with Aja and she was amazing and the reason for the only star. She was a complete professional, managed the process like a rockstar, and took care of us from beginning to end of mitigation. Props to her. The second part of the project was the restoration and upgrades. We worked with the owner Jason. In hindsight, big talker (especially about himself like another poster said) but low-quality business. They outsource all their work to other companies so who knows who's actually working on your project. During our job walk-through, instead of Jason guiding us and letting us know our options and what things to consider, apparently my wife and I were to become some bathroom remodel experts and let Jason know what we wanted and how we wanted it done. The entire time he was texting on his phone and I question if he was fully paying attention. We ended up missing out on some desirable upgrades because we simply didn't even know it was an option. We bought a brand new tub and right after install, we came to the house and saw nails, debree, and other items littered all in our tub ready to create some nice scratches. Even the tile guy who we were meeting mentioned how unprofessional it was and helped us clean it out. Also, they ended up choosing their own shower finishes, even though we were aligned that we were to buy and provide the finishings ourselves. We ended up having to go with his choices because the plumbing was already done. Same with color of the wall paint as he ended up picking his own colors even outside of our direction. Lastly, the toilet was not reset flush on the ground. Because of this, the caulking started to separate and when getting on/off the toilet, the toilet would "rock" with a loud thump. I contacted KIC to fix their poor quality job and at first Jason ignored me. Once I got AAA involved, he sent a plumber over. But surprise surprise, Jason doesn't want to cover his poor quality job and now I'm wrestling back and forth with AAA on the $500 bill to make my toilet sit flat like it should have in the first place. This crew was recommended by our insurance company to repair & restore water & mold damage to our master bath and a garage wall. Everything looked okay at first except the rebuild vanity's paint started chipping just a few weeks after they left (aside from the whole unit being built at least 1-2" taller than it originally was; it's a noticeable difference.) My workbench in the garage was poorly reconstructed and within a few months began to break because they didn't reinstall the center support legs underneath! My husband called KIC this morning based on the numerous 5-star Yelp reviews. Even though this wasn't an emergency, estimator Chris Marshall was at the house in about 3 hours. He was honest and to the point, advised that our problems were so minor that they do not require the type of services they provide. We can do it ourselves and/or hire a handyman. The classic construction nightmare is right here folks. After hearing that a job would be around $4000., my husband gave KIC the go ahead to do a simple and small job. We suspected a leak under the kitchen sink. Only after KIC ripped the cabinet apart, pulled off drywall and moved the dishwasher into the living room did Joe, the manager, tell us that it would cost really around $8-9000. We squawked and told Joe we felt we had gotten the old bait and switch. He replied that he would "think about it" when we asked if the cost could be lowered. Next day, not only was the cost not lowered but Joe told us that they were no longer interested in the job. Never came back and left our condo. In shambles. Writing this review on behalf of my mother, however the service and professionalism are astounding. My mom heard about them through a family friend to have the mold in our vents checked out and taken out. They were very thorough with the inspection and made sure that everything from the billing to the fixing of the dry wall (after tearing out our A/C to get to the vents) were complete and to our satisfaction. I really appreciated how they informed us of the fumes during what I believe was the dry wall (the chemicals involved) and instructed us ahead of time to be out during certain times of the day. This was great because I leave my dog at home when I go to work, and imagine if I had just left her there! During the whole process, his workers worked diligently all throughout! Of course, Jason has other clients so he cannot always be there to supervise. However, it is apparent that he has trained his employees well enough that they can do the job without his constant supervision. Since I work night shifts, I would be at home to see them at work. Most places, the workers need constant supervision. This is a true reflection of the quality of the training his employees receive, therefore I am impresssed! Good company, I don't have anything to compare it to, but the work that was done was exactly what was asked. Jason Widmer was the man who helped redo my closet. They took out and replaced the whole closet that was damaged by mold. He was very friendly, and respectful of my space. He did not just walk right into my room like the other people did, instead he knocked and asked permission to be in my space. He was nice and started conversation since I was in the room (not making things awkward) and was respectful when I had to do my work and needed to be quiet. He did the job he was called to do and made sure it was up to my satisfaction before he left. He also helped move the heavy things back into my closet that the last people moved out. From what I hear he also replaced the sink(?) in my roommates room. I called in KIC to help me clean up the water damage and mold from a pipe leak between my two bathrooms. They were fantastic to work with, always on time, took care of the asbestos insulation we had, used Infrared Thermo Lamps to have the dry out completed in less than a day and after the reconstruction left my bathroom in better condition than before the leak. No matter what the commercials say, you aren't in good hands, they aren't a good neighbor, they are not on your side, & they aren't there to help you. You need an unbiased & TIMELY company to contact for your needs. Good thing you already called them like I told you to, huh? Why am I saying this? Long ago (July 4th) in a bathroom far, far away (my master suite), we had a series of failures under the toilet. Luckily, we caught it in time & shut the water off. Determined not to have a horrible holiday, we went about our business & tried to enjoy the weekend. Fast forward to Monday & I was here on Yelp trying to find reviews & I came across KIC. I didn't know it at the time, but those reviews helped save me from disaster. Hopefully I'm paying it forward with you - the person reading my review right now. The person who already called KIC, right? Mark from KIC came out quickly & boy it's a good thing. We were already 3 days in to what we didn't realize was a serious issue. He did 2 EXTREMELY important things. First, he educated me. He took the time to explain what the likely process was & played the part of the neutral 3rd party. He imparted his wisdom & experience & helped me make good choices throughout the process. Second, he took the time to do a full inspection & report. Why was this so important? Because Mark was able to go on the record that there was no mold in my house. Again you ask - why was that so important? Because it doesn't take mold long to grow & it was the following week before an adjuster came out to look at my house. By that time there WAS mold. I bet you're thinking to yourself, "This isn't really blowing me away. This guy was adamant about me calling these KIC guys. I'm just not getting it." Well, if I hadn't had pictures & moisture tests & Mark's report, my insurance company would have used the presence of mold to DENY MY CLAIM. They would have said that my unique failure was really a long standing issue & is not covered by insurance. Yes, they would have. How do I know? They TRIED to at first. Until I busted out Mark's report, that is. I FIRMLY believe without Mark's education & inspection, I would have had to paid for everything by myself. That ALONE is reason enough for me to recommend KIC to you. But wait, there's more. Jason & his crew came out & did a bang up job remediating the mold & moisture & hazmat damage to my house. They did the initial work, & came back every day till their equipment finished. If you have mold - make sure you look at it. Then let Jason use his chemicals & look again in 6 hours. You WILL NOT BELIEVE it. It was GONE. The next day it looked like we just opened the ceiling below for no reason. You really have to see it to believe it. Jason is like The Mold Whisperer. I'm thinking Mark Wahlberg instead of Robert Redman though for the movie. Maybe Jason Statham. I digress. For the rebuild of my bathroom, we said screw it let's make some changes. KIC worked with us & kept a separate tab for us to delineate our remodeling from the insurance money & made that easy as pie for us. They brought in their subs & our bathroom looks AMAZING. These guys had an expert for everything. Soon we had a brand new looking bathroom with beautiful tile throughout instead of the carpet/linoleum the builders put in. I mean really?!?!? Who puts CARPET in a bathroom by a shower & bath tub? You're asking for mold. Especially with a 4 year old taking baths like we have. No more worries about that. Were there problems? Some MINOR things that weren't quite perfect for us right off. Anyone who tells you everything on a project as big as ours was perfect right away is a liar. I expected there to be way more items. Anyone who has worked with a contractor or any sort of expensive process will tell you the measure of a good contractor is how they handle something you don't like. The MINOR issues we had, we told Jason & the KIC guys were on it & made it right IMMEDIATELY with NO HASSLE & NO ARGUMENT. They just fixed it until we were happy. THAT is what makes them a great team. That is why you already called them. You did call them right? I bet if you didn't you're feeling kinda silly right now. I sure hope you didn't call your insurance agent first. :) In all seriousness, the KIC guys were awesome. The only issues we had were with subs & the KIC guys know & act like it doesn't matter since it's their name on the bill. Love these guys! Couldn't find better guys than Mark and Jason and the staff. Our property manager hired them due to tenant complaints of mold. We had to do a major mold remediation of our property and these guys did an amazing job. Near Perfect. For a project like ours, KIC did an outstanding job for us. I found KIC on Yelp and their high rating saved me a lot of time up front. The response to our water damage (we had been on vacation), was swift and professional. The swarm of uniformed men came in and began the remediation process without hesitation. Watch out, they are fast and before you know it, you are being taken care of by Pro's. I had wished I'd taken a little more time to get a feel for the insurance/restoration process. At no time did KIC misrepresent themselves. In the end, they were correct on all phases. Everything they said they were going to do, they did. We used KIC Restoration to do a complete renovation of our just purchased 2 bedroom/2 bath condo. From Chris's bid to completion of the job we have no complaints with this company. Now be aware, we did the entire condo, kitchen, flooring and baths. These guys are thorough and professional. When during the demo some old kitchen cabinets we wanted to be saved to use in our garage were accidentally destroyed, they quickly replaced them with nicer ones at no charge. We were kept informed of the schedule by Kevin, site supervisor. Kevin was always personable, quick to provide answers to our questions and to respond to any call or text! All the subs who did tile, cabinets, paint and flooring were very good and very meticulous. KIC also remediated a small amount of mold found during the inspection. Best referral I have ever received! A friend of mine in Poway, Ca had a flood and some mold issues and ended up hiring KIC and had a great experience. That friend referred them to me, knowing that we had been dealing with a plumbing issue for years. I have been through 5 different plumbers to solve the issue, to no avail. After being frustrated about this for so long, I simply gave up. Then one day a friend referred me to KIC. I had them come out to check it out. They told me what was happening and what needed to be done to fix the issue. They came back with the right parts and were able to solve the years' long leak issue- without having to remove the tile in the shower. KIC is not your average company. He also helped us design and install and computer nook and wine bar with storage. They put down hardwood floors, installed windows and a sliding glass door. I have used KIC for about 4 years now and they are TOP notch. I use them for my carpet cleaning primarily. The staff is friendly, they do a GREAT job, their shampoo is free of harsh chemicals and my carpets always look fantastic afterwards. Also the customer service at KIC is great. I once consulted Jason about a serious black mold issue I had in a condo I was renting a few years back. Although I was not able to use KIC to remedy the situation (property managers at my condo used a different company whom they were contracted with); Jason was kind enough to give me free advice on how to handle the situation, what I should be on the lookout for during repairs and even checked in with me afterwards to make sure everything was cool. Mine was asbestos and the general contractor on our 3 week old remodel had to halt all progress with asbestos threatening to go airborne. Mark came out at 3:00 the same day I called and walked the job, produced a quote and made the whole process fairly painless. They started a few days later and made the problem go away in 2 days without a hitch. They took something like 130 bags of bad stuff off my property. It isn't cheap, but it had to be done and they knocked it out like true professionals. Jason ran the job with precision and has a great work ethic. You cannot go wrong hiring this company. Their price was the best of the three bids we received and besides the price, we are so pleased we chose them. KIC started work immediately and the entire project, remidation to rebuild was done in a week and a half (half a kitchen with new cabinet boxes on the lower). KIC Restoration is a true class act! Our kitchen/ family room flooded. I called in KIC after another restoration company brought out a couple of fans and some towels and told us we were fine. I had a sneaking suspicion that wasn't the case. I was right. We had 40 gallons of dirty dishwasher water flood the kitchen/ family room and it needed to be treated properly.
