The space required some creativity to figure out the best way to make it work and Art did a great job explaining his ideas to us and how much everything would cost. He did such a good job that we asked if he could quote on doing another section of our yard before he finished the driveway. We were able to do both areas for less that what either of the other landscaping/masonry companies quoted us for just the driveway. Art also did a good job managing our expectations on timing and continued to answer questions after the job was done. Art recently put in a new driveway for us and he and his team did a fantastic job. I got quotes from 3 different contractors before beginning the project and Art came in significantly lower than the other two companies (both of whom are much larger). I also liked that Art was in my neighborhood. He did such a great job that we were able to have him also cement a part of the sidewalk in front of our house - and the the two projects together were still less than the quotes from the other companies! Art kept me informed every step of the way. He explained the different types of concretes that could be used and checked with me several times to make sure that he understood what we were looking for. The driveway ended up being more complicated than expected and Art had to build a small retaining wall. I was nervous at first but it looks so good it now feels as if it's always been that way. Even though the project was a bit more complex than originally thought Art didn't try to upsell me or to change the terms of our agreement. Art and his team also did a great job cleaning up after the project was completed, and explaining what we needed to do to maintain the new driveway. Overall, the quality and professionalism of Tarantino Masonry would make me recommend them to any of my friends or family. read more

Art did an amazing job! I needed some soil and old concrete pads removed and new concrete poured around my house for a full patio and 2 sidewalks. Art did a walkthrough and gave me a fair price estimate. He figured out how to get some machines into tight spaces and did the demo, hauling, leveling, compacting, and rebar-ing all with one assistant over 3 days. He also set a drainage pipe and drain in place that helped move rainwater around the house to stop the foundation erosion I was dealing with. He brought in a crew to pour and set the concrete the next morning and they were done before noon! Everything looks amazing and still functions great. The erosion control and rainwater flow-directing could not be better and I am so grateful for his hard work and expertise. Half my driveway was badly cracked and walkway had rotted wooden spacers that had to be removed and filled. December 2020, Art gave me a quote and NEVER tried to get me to redo entire driveway which I didn't want to do. He wasn't the cheapest but I knew I wanted him to do the job right off. We set a time and he and his helper Cisco started the job and prepped the area. I watched most of the time which was to me an HGTV dream to see in person all the details that go into such a project. Art and Cisco were very thorough and detail oriented which I loved. Enjoyed getting to know them as well and conversing as they did the work. Of course the job turned out great and I was extremely pleased to finally have a safe driveway and walkway to walk on. Art was great to work with and did an amazing job. Even the city engineer said it was one of the best pours he's ever seen. Art is friendly, knowledgeable, and forthcoming with all info. He is very aware and abiding by city codes. He also worked well with the city engineer. Made the whole process very easy and smooth. From demo to finish, the work took 5 days and looks great. Not to mention that It's easier and safer entering and exiting my driveway. Fun fact - The original curb and sidewalk was stamped with "Tarantino". Apparently Art's uncle poured the original curb and sidewalk ~55 years ago! These guys know what they are doing. read more

I could not be more pleased with the job that Art did building a new concrete block wall in my backyard. First, he demolished and removed an 80 year old concrete wall that was cracking and crumbling. Then, he did a did a great job rebuilding the wall, with new footing and a drainage system. It was tricky to work in a space restricted by a long row of ficus trees, but Art handled it well. I liked that he did most of the work himself, and he took great care in doing every step methodically and correctly. His assistant, Francisco, was wonderful, too. They were professional, considerate, courteous, and communicative. They cleaned up at the end of each day, and did a big clean up at the end of the job. Very pleased that I hired Art Tarantino of Tarantino Masonry to dig up the old pebble paving in front of my garage that was cracking and looking really awful and replace it with new concrete. Amazingly, he was able to do the job in just 2 days (another company told me it would take at least 4 days). He dug up the concrete on a Saturday and came back to pour the concrete on Monday. The new concrete looks great! Art is also really nice. He helped me secure a broken piece of brick trim on my garage and nail down a board on my back deck that came loose while he was working at my house. He also came back several weeks after the job to help me adjust my metal gate so it would open and close more easily since his workers has disassembled it in order to get the equipment into the backyard and may not have reassembled it properly. We found Art Tarantino on Craigslist, and I'm glad we did. We wanted a patio poured, and while it wasn't the biggest concrete job, it was important to us to get it done on a budget, and have it look nice. He gave us a fair estimate, and worked with us on what we wanted as opposed to doing what he wanted. We found Art on Craig's List, needed pavers installed in the back patio, and a retaining wall built. His quote was considerably lower than the 1st quote we received, so we anticipated a few issues, perhaps he'd be late, or his work not up to standard. The 1st day RCP arrived at 6:30 am to deliver the pavers, that's when the driver mentioned regular weekly deliveries for Art, and how Art is an absolute professional, always on time and an absolute well trained skilled masonry. I hired Art Tarantino to do some major concrete work at my house. He replaced 10 stairs in the backyard, added a 15 foot circle patio, walkways to connect to the pool area. He also did an area 12 by 20 behind the garage, with a sidewalk around the garage to the front. I also had him widen the driveway by 7 feet, and tie that into the sidewalk. Art and his crew did a fantastic job. It was clean throughout the project, and the final project was very clean and exactly what I had hope for. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Art again. Tarantino Masonry completed a number of large and small projects in our front yard which are very important to the curb appeal of our home. These included a large step-stone capped retaining wall, a smaller seat wall and several travertine stone pathways. What distinguished Art Tarantino during the estimate process, was his willingness to spend the extra time to evaluate why the existing fairly new hardscape features were failing and recommend suggested fixes and options for the rebuild. High marks for thoughtfulness and sharing his experience and knowledge. From start to finish, Art was onsite all day everyday directing and working along side his small crew leaving no question as to the quality and integrity of the work.
