This was the best experience I have ever had with a contractor in 28 years of owning my home! Tarantino Masonry did our front patio and it came out spectacular. It is a flagstone patio in which he poured a concrete slab, let it set, then came back and set large pieces of flagstone on top in mortar while considering and making the drainage perfect. Not an easy task and needed an absolute professional and forward and smart thinker about the end project. Art Tarantino saw it all immediately and delivered in spades. I did get several other bids, he was the high end of the other bids, and had a longer wait time, but we are so glad we waited and went with him. His bid was true and we paid the exact estimate (no massive up charge at the end due to....you know the game). Can't recommend Tarantino Masonry enough, it's worth the wait! read more

This is a delayed review for Tarantino Masonry. The owner is professional and provides excellent work at a reasonable price. He does the work himself . He cares about detail and finished our job on time. He gave good recommendations. We had brickwork added to our column and as a decoration around our garage to match. I would absolutely hire him again . read more

Tarantino Masonry did a fantastic job creating a new driveway for us and his quote was lower than any of the other "big name" companies that we called. The space required some creativity to figure out the best way to make it work and Art did a great job explaining his ideas to us and how much everything would cost. He did such a good job that we asked if he could quote on doing another section of our yard before he finished the driveway. We were able to do both areas for less that what either of the other landscaping/masonry companies quoted us for just the driveway. Art also did a good job managing our expectations on timing and continued to answer questions after the job was done. I would definitely recommend Tarantino Masonry to any homeowner in the San Diego area. read more

Art recently put in a new driveway for us and he and his team did a fantastic job. I got quotes from 3 different contractors before beginning the project and Art came in significantly lower than the other two companies (both of whom are much larger). I also liked that Art was in my neighborhood. He did such a great job that we were able to have him also cement a part of the sidewalk in front of our house - and the the two projects together were still less than the quotes from the other companies! Art kept me informed every step of the way. He explained the different types of concretes that could be used and checked with me several times to make sure that he understood what we were looking for. The driveway ended up being more complicated than expected and Art had to build a small retaining wall. I was nervous at first but it looks so good it now feels as if it's always been that way. Even though the project was a bit more complex than originally thought Art didn't try to upsell me or to change the terms of our agreement. Art and his team also did a great job cleaning up after the project was completed, and explaining what we needed to do to maintain the new driveway. Overall, the quality and professionalism of Tarantino Masonry would make me recommend them to any of my friends or family. read more

Art did an amazing job! I needed some soil and old concrete pads removed and new concrete poured around my house for a full patio and 2 sidewalks. Art did a walkthrough and gave me a fair price estimate. He figured out how to get some machines into tight spaces and did the demo, hauling, leveling, compacting, and rebar-ing all with one assistant over 3 days. He also set a drainage pipe and drain in place that helped move rainwater around the house to stop the foundation erosion I was dealing with. He brought in a crew to pour and set the concrete the next morning and they were done before noon! Everything looks amazing and still functions great. The erosion control and rainwater flow-directing could not be better and I am so grateful for his hard work and expertise. I recommend him to everyone who inquires and I'll definitely give him a call with my next project (a driveway re-pave). Thanks Art! read more

Art and his small crew just finished 3 separate jobs at my home testing their expertise in 3 areas, retaining walls, pavers and a driveway expansion of about 800 sq ft. concrete.....perfection, perfection and more perfection!!!! Art has an eye for the finished product I have rarely seen, meticulous in every facet, always on time, always in communication and most certainly honest integrity caring about the product he provides from beginning to end. I simply cannot be happier that I found "Art the Artist" and his crew for the projects at my home. I will post pics of the 3 jobs for anyone's pleasure, this guy knows his stuff!!!! Kyle read more

Art and his team are just wrapping up the second job they have done for us. The first was a great experience so we asked him to bid on the second project (much larger than the first) and it looks AMAZING! His entire team is professional, efficient, and kept things on schedule for us. Art can handle complex and creative designs, so if you have a backyard or hardscaping idea you want to see come to life, ask Art Tarantino. You will not be disappointed! read more

Half my driveway was badly cracked and walkway had rotted wooden spacers that had to be removed and filled. December 2020, Art gave me a quote and NEVER tried to get me to redo entire driveway which I didn't want to do. He wasn't the cheapest but I knew I wanted him to do the job right off. We set a time and he and his helper Cisco started the job and prepped the area. I watched most of the time which was to me an HGTV dream to see in person all the details that go into such a project. Art and Cisco were very thorough and detail oriented which I loved. Enjoyed getting to know them as well and conversing as they did the work. Of course the job turned out great and I was extremely pleased to finally have a safe driveway and walkway to walk on. Great pair of guys, honest, know their business and I'd highly recommend them to anyone. read more

Art was great to work with and did an amazing job. Even the city engineer said it was one of the best pours he's ever seen. Art is friendly, knowledgeable, and forthcoming with all info. He is very aware and abiding by city codes. He also worked well with the city engineer. Made the whole process very easy and smooth. From demo to finish, the work took 5 days and looks great. Not to mention that It's easier and safer entering and exiting my driveway. Fun fact - The original curb and sidewalk was stamped with "Tarantino". Apparently Art's uncle poured the original curb and sidewalk ~55 years ago! These guys know what they are doing. read more

I recently had my driveway expanded which included taking down a retaining wall, removing a large tree, and making a new wall farther back. Tarantino Masonry did an outstanding job with everything. The price was reasonable, but most importantly they show up early, work hard, and did the job exactly how I hoped. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. read more

LOVED our experience with Art and his crew-mate. They did great work, finished on time, and answered all my questions. They built a retaining wall for us and we couldn't be happier. The fence company even asked for his card when they came to do the fence because they saw his work and wanted to be able to contact him for future projects. Art was laid-back but professional and helpful. Would definitely recommend him for a similar project if you're looking for a great mason. read more

I could not be more pleased with the job that Art did building a new concrete block wall in my backyard. First, he demolished and removed an 80 year old concrete wall that was cracking and crumbling. Then, he did a did a great job rebuilding the wall, with new footing and a drainage system. It was tricky to work in a space restricted by a long row of ficus trees, but Art handled it well. I liked that he did most of the work himself, and he took great care in doing every step methodically and correctly. His assistant, Francisco, was wonderful, too. They were professional, considerate, courteous, and communicative. They cleaned up at the end of each day, and did a big clean up at the end of the job. I would definitely recommend Tarantino Masonry without any hesitation. read more

Very pleased that I hired Art Tarantino of Tarantino Masonry to dig up the old pebble paving in front of my garage that was cracking and looking really awful and replace it with new concrete. Amazingly, he was able to do the job in just 2 days (another company told me it would take at least 4 days). He dug up the concrete on a Saturday and came back to pour the concrete on Monday. The new concrete looks great! Art is also really nice. He helped me secure a broken piece of brick trim on my garage and nail down a board on my back deck that came loose while he was working at my house. He also came back several weeks after the job to help me adjust my metal gate so it would open and close more easily since his workers has disassembled it in order to get the equipment into the backyard and may not have reassembled it properly. Thank you, Tarantino Masonry, for a great job! read more

I have been involved in real estate improvements for 35 years - and I can't remember a better contractor to work with than Art. He did a meticulous, detailed job for me involving pavers, footings, tile, cobblestone walls, flagstone wall caps and concrete curbs. I found him on Yelp - later confirmed by a recommendation from a builder I know. Art is hands on. He is not in a hurry. Rather, he works methodically to get the job done right the first time. read more

I had a great experience with Tarantino Masonry. Communicating the project and timeline with Art was easy and fluid. The work was completed early, looks great and he cleaned up after the project which I found is a rarity when having contractors work at your home. I would definitely recommend Art for any future projects. read more

Art installed curbs and walkways at our house. He did a really professional job and I am very happy with the finished product. When you hire him, you get him. He was there the entire job to make sure everything was done properly. The bid was very reasonable and he did not go over. I would hire him again in a minute when we need additional work in the future. read more

Art did a fantastic job in my backyard last year , apologies for just getting round to posting this review. Art did the work in the time he said it would take , very professional and was very pleased with the quality of the work and cost , will be using again if I need more concrete done! read more

EXCELLENT JOB!!! Art and his Team did a phenomenal job with an extremely tough boundary wall situation. It was an unbelievable legal battle for a boundary wall between properties and in an extremely close area. Once Tarantino's was chosen by all and agreed to take this tough job on, Art was able to handle it in a very timely, a truly skilled manner. And, with a very small but professional, great, hard-working Team. Can't thank them all enough! We would absolutely recommend Tarantino's !! read more

We needed a bunch of work done in the back yard--two walls needed to be extended, plus a stone walk ways and a patio. Based on the reviews here on Yelp, I asked Art for a quote and he did not disappoint. He responded quickly, arrived on time, and was direct about what would work and what I might want to reconsider. The quote was fair, and so we agreed on a start date. Art and his crew were here bright and early, did a good job, and finished exactly when he predicted for exactly the price quoted. Art knows his stuff. Every day, they tidied up before they left, and when the job was done, they cleaned up. Other than the work done, there is no indication anyone has been in my yard. Art is top notch, and we've already started discussing the nightmare that is my front yard. read more

Look no further; Art is the man. He gave me a free estimate, a written proposal, and a perfect new driveway, each item completed with impressive promptness and attention to detail. Professional, personable, hard-working crew, reasonable price, beautiful work. Highly recommend. read more

After getting bids from 4 concrete contractors for a driveway at my home, I selected Art Tarantino based on a very competitive bid, personal skills and the fact that the owner does most of the work himself. I wasn't disappointed with my selection. Art and one other worker did all of the preparation themselves. When it was time to pour the concrete, Art brought in a 3-man crew of finishers. They were prompt, worked hard, cleaned up and did a great job! My driveway looks great and the water drains perfectly! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Art Tarantino Masonry! read more

We found Art Tarantino on Craigslist, and I'm glad we did. We wanted a patio poured, and while it wasn't the biggest concrete job, it was important to us to get it done on a budget, and have it look nice. He gave us a fair estimate, and worked with us on what we wanted as opposed to doing what he wanted. Some of our other estimates we got were triple what Art did the job for, and he did it quickly, and professionally. His crew is comprised of nice, stand up guys that were polite, and respected our schedule (nap time for the kids). I would HIGHLY recommend Tarantino Masonry to anyone needing any sort of masonry work. Actually, I already have recommended him to a number of friends and family. read more

Art is great! Fast, reliable, does what he says and competitive prices! He did slab in my backyard, and cement around half in ground pool with drainage. Will be using him on future driveway. I would recommend to friends and family. read more

While we did not end up hiring Art for the job (turned out we had a family friend the does concrete) his quote was extremely competitive and reasonable. Art himself was professional, knowledgeable, and confident in his plans for the work. A lot of people scratch their heads and search for ideas of how they would need to do the work, but Art knew exactly what his plan was like he's been doing this work for over 30 years ( because he has). I would absolutely recommend giving Art a call. read more

Art built a wall for me approximately 60 feet long 6 feet high on a sloped grade at the rear of my property. The end result is pure Art. He is a super nice guy very easy going and has an excellent crew of guys working with him. Completed the job on budget on time and the craftsmanship is of high quality. He is a master mason!! I'm going to hire him to do a rear yard patio and I highly recommend him to all looking for high quality craftsmanship at a competitive price. Art Tarantino and his crew are the best. read more

We found Art on Craig's List, needed pavers installed in the back patio, and a retaining wall built. His quote was considerably lower than the 1st quote we received, so we anticipated a few issues, perhaps he'd be late, or his work not up to standard. The 1st day RCP arrived at 6:30 am to deliver the pavers, that's when the driver mentioned regular weekly deliveries for Art, and how Art is an absolute professional, always on time and an absolute well trained skilled masonry. (The driver's comments help to reassure our feelings about him as a contractor) Sure enough, 15 minutes later Art arrived, on time and ready to work! Everyday his crew arrived early, and not only did they do a perfect job, flawless to be more precise, but he and his crew we absolute professionals. We couldn't be happier, not only was his price the lowest, but his work was unconditionally impeccable, and entirely spot-on. Not only would we recommend Art, but we now consider him our go-to guy for any masonry jobs in the future. He earned our business for life. Paul read more

I hired Art Tarantino to do some major concrete work at my house. He replaced 10 stairs in the backyard, added a 15 foot circle patio, walkways to connect to the pool area. He also did an area 12 by 20 behind the garage, with a sidewalk around the garage to the front. I also had him widen the driveway by 7 feet, and tie that into the sidewalk. Art and his crew did a fantastic job. It was clean throughout the project, and the final project was very clean and exactly what I had hope for. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Art again. Great job, thank you! read more

We recently had Tarantino Masonry install drains in our backyard and concrete on our side yard from the back of the house to the sidewalk. Art and his crew did a beautiful job and we are very happy with the finished project. Art was easy to deal with and always quick to reply whenever we had questions. When the project was finished every thing was cleaned up and cleared out. We have additional plans for our yard and Art will be the one we call. I would highly recommend Tarantino Masonry. read more

If you're looking for a good mason, look no further! I finally found a contractor in San Diego that is punctual, professional, courteous, cleans up after himself, completes the scope of work he's been hired to do and follows through with all his promises. I've had dozens of contractors on my property in the past 2 years covering several different trades and Art has been the best so far. His pricing is very fair and his work and skill set is top notch. We hired Art to install 150 SF of stone veneer on our house. He and his crew showed up on time every day, kept us informed as the project progressed, and provided us with options I hadn't even thought about. He is very meticulous and takes pride in his work. A+ job well done! read more
