Chicken Parmigiana, Bacon Bianca 12"Greek Salad - Full
Austin R.

Everything was absolutely delicious. The Greek salad was very fresh and the chicken. Parm was so good that I ate it faster than my girlfriend can finish her second slice of pizza (which she said was also delicious) definitely new favorite Italian/Mediterranean spot

My wife and I stopped in for lunch. They have one door for takeout and another for the sit-down part. The decor was nice and clean. The pictures on the walls confused us because they were about reading and math. They also had books to read for the kids. Once we realized Scuola means School in Italian that made sense. Also we were expecting typical Italian options. This is more of a Mediterranean menu with many Greek choices to compliment the Italian choices. We started with a side of meatballs (SHHH! not on the menu). They were very good and would order again. We then got a large Lil Sicily. Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, Ricotta Cheese, Oregano and Basil. Loved the crust. A large was too large for two so next time we will get a regular. But looking forward to leftovers. While the name says school its a definite date night location for us in the near future. We look forward to tasting some Greek when we we do.

It had been a while since we ate here, so needed to do an updated review.Their menu has grown immensely since the last time we ate here. It's good to see that the place is getting still a lot of business. Friendly staff check in on us several times making sure we had everything. The music playing gave it that mediterranean feel. Food came out hot, the flaming cheese, which I forgot to take a photo of was good as I remembered it. I decided to try the meatball sub, which was a new item on the menu very tasty.

1- Parking and surroundings, I always look for the parking areas of the place, you do want to know in advance if parking is available and if it feels safe. Located close to the Northwood area, this is North West Gainesville, and parking is available. 2- The ambiance and decoration is very nice, offering a vintage, quiet and relaxed place for dinning. 3- Location- I was attracted to this place by the pizza sign on the outside and living in Gainesville for more than 19 years, and less than 4 miles away, I thought I would give it a try. 4- As soon as I saw the menu, I changed my mind and tried one of the the Mediterranean dishes. The Santorini Chicken, with garlic broccolini. The Santorini Chicken is seasoned and charbroiled, served with a tomatoes and fresh Mozzarella, accompanied by a bed of rice pilaf. Cooked perfectly as the name implies (charbroiled), the broccolini maybe a little bit too soaked in the oil and garlic, but nonetheless I liked it. The rice pilaf was so tasteful, which I enjoyed it very much. I am very satisfied with the taste and quality of the food. I will return. The experience is more than what I was hoping. I'm hoping for more restaurants in Gainesville like this. 5- Service was awesome, the server would check up on us, every now and then. 6- Overall this will be one of my places to visit more often, affordable, quiet, delicious mediterranean dishes, in my make believe ratings from 1 to 10, it an 8.5 for me.

Someone's gyro & raw fries

I've been a customer at Scuola since they opened. They've always been slow for take-out, but always had my order right. Over the last few months, that's been on a decline. Tonight, I ordered the same thing I've ordered for 2+ years, a bacon burger and the chicken pita. I failed to check it at the restaurant, I did do that every time until about a year ago when I just went on blind faith. I got home tonight with my take-out to find a gyro with my burger, so I called the restaurant. I was met with oh, ok, you can come back next time and get what you ordered. I insisted that no, I want a credit for the wrong order, I don't mind paying for the burger I ordered but I can't eat lamb, so this means no dinner for me. Not only that, the onion rings with the burger and the fries with the gyro are raw...it was just raw onion & breading, not enjoyable at all. I don't know what has changed but I sure miss the Scuola I loved. Pic attached of the gyro I can't eat even though I tried. Please step up Scuola!!

We spent a Saturday in Gainesville, FL and for dinner we stopped by Scuola Pizza. "Scuola" is Greek for school or institution. The restaurant has a neat classroom motif. They even have an old middle-school clock with the bars over the face of it. Scuola Pizza offers a menu of signature pizza pies, classic Italian and Greek dishes. For the app, we got the calamari. But these weren't your little frozen squid rings. These were huge squid bracelets. They were tender, crispy, and delicious. Paired with a slightly spicy marinara and it was perfect. For the main, we got the large prosciutto pizza. A beautiful crust topped with sauce, basil, fresh mozzarella, Roma tomatoes, and an amount of prosciutto that bordered on illegal. The pie overall, was delicious, but, and I can't believe I'm about to say this, it had too much prosciutto. Prosciutto, in its natural state, is a smooth, slightly salty snack. A staple charcuterie board item. Cooked prosciutto intensifies that saltiness and is still delicious, but in smaller doses. A whole pizza filled with cooked prosciutto? Delicious in some bites, overly salty in others. A lighter touch on the prosciutto would definitely be appreciated. Aaand I said prosciutto waaay too much. The overall meal and restaurant were great and I would definitely visit again and try the Greek side of the menu.

Fantastic pizza, cooked to perfection, and bursting with flavor. The garlic broccolini is to die for! Service is great and the atmosphere is such a neat theme!

a beautiful cheese pull, how can you resist this!?

After reading several reviews, I decided to make a stop here for a nice warm slice. I went in on a Tuesday afternoon, so it was nice and quiet. The host at the front was very warm and welcoming and gave me the rundown and recommendations of Scuola. I wanted something light/non meat option so I opted in for a classic pizza, the margherita. And you can't go wrong with that! The host/waiter was super attentive to my needs and once the pizza arrived, I was in heaven. First off, the 12'' pie is perfect for you and a friend, however since I was by myself, so I decided to be greedy. The pizza came out pipping hot from the oven and the cheese...that was the highlight for me. The cheese with the basil on top was picture perfect - like a stereotypical pizza commercial. The crust was very light and flaky and it didn't make me feel bloated like most pizza places. The sauce tasted very homemade and has the good amount of Italian herbs added in. Let me get back to the cheese because the cheese pull that came from this pizza, expanded for at least a mile long....ok I'm exaggerating but you needed to stand up for this cheese pull it end. I was shocked! From the friendly service to the fresh ingredients - I will definitely be back to revisit this place with a friend or solo to try out more food options!

May have been better if we hadn't gotten takeout, so I don't want to put the restaurant down too much. I really prefer to eat in for a full experience. This pizza place came highly recommended, and everyone wanted to swim, so the consensus was takeout. I have lots of pictures, as we had a large group of people eating. We were told that the gyro pizza was fantastic, so we ordered 3. Again, large group. We were also told to order medium instead of large so they would cook better. Our order was very expensive and pretty good. I would probably eat there again. I ordered a medium with ham, onion and fresh mozzarella (a must). I tried the Greek pizza, Greek salad and the gyro meat was delicious. The pasta was definitely al dente, but both the Cajun and regular sauce tasted, well, uneventful. Just not much flavor. I definitely would not order any of their pastas again. My son got the caperese salad with gyro meat and it may have shifted in transport, but was extremely lackluster. I actually thought they forgot to put the salad in because it didn't look like a salad at all. This seems like a bad review, but my food was good, give it a try and eat in. Overall, I would go back and eat at the restaurant, so I give it a thumbs up. I'd want the gyro Greek salad and the pizza I ordered again.

Salmon - Greek style with wild rice, asparagus and a side of garlic broccolini. So delicious!

I hate to leave bad reviews, but I think want to be honest. I came to The Spot recently for lunch…read moreand was not happy with my experience. Located in midtown, this appears to a fast casual place that caters towards college students. They serve "Greek" street food, salads, quesadillas, burgers, and more. The food is relatively inexpensive. Service is fine, actually the people working there are friendly. Food is made to order and comes out quickly. There is some seating available inside (it's limited) but there are plenty of tables in the hall. I ordered the Street Chicken Souvlaki which included grilled chicken with tomato, onion, fries inside a pita, topped with ketchup and mustard. This was a very large portion. The pita was good, but pretty much fell apart the second I picked it up. While I liked the chicken, it was over seasoned and I didn't care for the "sauced" quality of it. I'm not sure if they marinated it or tossed it in some sauce, but it was too much. The fries were decent, but not super crispy. I felt that they were not necessarily and a little over-the-top. The tomato was fresh and but the red onion slices were very thick. The mustard and ketchup didn't work with the seasonings on the chicken. The dish was just all over the place and I couldn't even finish half of it before I started feeling sick. I ordered a side of onion rings as well. This was a large order and the size was great. But these onion rings were over-battered and were fresh, but not crispy at all. I bit into one and ended up pulling out the whole onion rings. Not good. Overall, I was very disappointed with my experience. The food was so heavy and overly salted I couldn't even eat half of it. I ended up giving it to a homeless person on the way out. The food left my stomach in shambles the rest of the day. Service is fine. But the food is not desirable. It is safe to say I will not be returning, which is unfortunate.

Sounds pricey but my wife and I spit it and still had some leftovers. Also, this might seem a bit off topic but this place has some of the best fries. Great seasoning. The sweet potato soup had a puréed, baby‑food texture, but the flavor itself was surprisingly rich and comforting. The star for me was the Tunisian casse‑croûte. The flavors were incredible; the albacore was tender and seasoned just right, the salata mechouia added this smoky, roasted pepper depth, and the pickled egg brought the perfect tangy brightness. The arugula gave it a fresh, peppery lift, and the harissa aioli tied everything together with a warm, subtle heat. The fries on top added the best crunchy contrast. Every bite was layered, bold, and so satisfying.

I was reminiscing about a sandwich I got and decided to order some lunch from here . I ordered a California turkey croissant but subbed for gluten free Kaiser roll. I also ordered the Greek salad. The prices and portions can't be beat. I got it for delivery from DoorDash and the ingredients and bread were so fresh. I was a little hesitant because when I order sandwiches or wraps from other places for delivery they arrive soggy but I was pleasantly surprised because everything was intact. I'm picky with deli meat since I just can't stand some after taste of certain deli meats but I don't know how to explain it the turkey and cheese tasted "clean" . You were able to taste every topping on the sandwich separately and together it just came together perfectly. It was a hefty portion too looking like a real life healthy krabby patty. I can't wait to have it for dinner and hoping I get the chance to come in and try other items on their menu.
