So I have to say, this pizza is A1. But there is a problem - they either cook the pizza on or leave it on these black, plastic pizza rounds and so a plastic/chemical taste seeps into the crust. It may have been a fluke for us but both pizzas tasted and smelt like this weird plastic/chemical. We smelt the plastic round the pizza was on and matched it. I don't know how or what but it took over the flavor of the pizza. I will say this place has nailed the crust (no flop or grease), sauce to cheese ratio and created a really great pizza! We may give it another try and talk to a manager about this taste on the crust issue. Otherwise it's a lovely, clean establishment with great wait staff. read more

Decided to try their food truck. I got a Pita wrap ($10ish)- seasoned chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, ranch, and special sauce (soooo good) on a pita. My friends got a "12 margherita pizza ($15ish) and mozzarella sticks ($9). The wait for our food was 15-20 mins. I'd stay away from the mozz sticks. I honestly think Sonic's are better. This review would be 3 star, but the Venezia pizza with the Alfredo sauce hit the other star home for me. That particular pizza was a 10. I also tried the Margherita, nothing special, rating it a 7, my son got a Scoula special and it was loaded with meat, he rated it an 8. So overall, not bad, but just okay pizza. I was hoping for better crust, maybe brushed with butter. Gainesville just lacks when it comes to Italian and pizza. I would love to see this restaurant try more unique pizzas like the Venezia! We had a dine-in, early dinner experience here about a week ago which was excellent. Had fresh-baked bread, lovely salads with variety of home-made dressings, and mozzarella sticks with outstanding marinara for appetizers. The Margarita pizza was "to-die-for", and the lasagna was exquisite. Also had the chicken carbonara, which was delicious, but definitely a different style than I've previously had. Oh yes-- and the Baklava cheesecake was insanely good. Service was outstanding and absolutely LOVED the very unique and original "school-house" themed decor to go with the Scuola name. Enjoyed the preponderance of books to look at too. They seemed to be taking all necessary Covid precautions as well, in terms of wearing masks and spacing customers out. So great to finally have a really terrific Italian restaurant (with a few Greek dishes too) in the area. Thumbs up! read more

Best pizza! We order from Scuola all the time. Their gluten free crust is the best in Gainesville. Love everything we have tried. Quality toppings, takeout is always fresh and ready on time. The employees are always so kind. Great food and wonderful customer service - what's not to love! Also, we had family in town and ordered Scuola and they loved it too. Honestly, this is one of the best pizza places in Gainesville. The pizza is delicious and flavorful with amazing sauces. The crust is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Some of my favorites have been the Brooklyn (those caramelized onions!), the prosciutto one (they give you sooo much), and the bbq chicken. They also have amazing pasta. I had not gotten around to trying this place because I thought it was just another pizza joint. Man, was I wrong! Now I regret not going sooner. It is a small, very comfortable, family-run restaurant. Nice decor, friendly staff, and a wonderful, Greek inspired menu, in addition to great pizza. There are new pasta dishes added to the menu. I was already having a difficult time deciding which one to try. My dinner was excellent, the service was also excellent. The prices are very reasonable. Ordered the Herbed Chicken kababs, which were generous, juicy and tender. The side I chose was a beet salad, which I wouldn't normally go for, was both pretty and tasty. FINALLY! Some good quality food in Gainesville! The food is such great quality and everything was soo fresh! I got chicken wings, gyro pita, and pepperoni pizza. The wings were soo fresh and crispy. The pizza was average but it was pepperoni so next time we will try their speciality, however it was still a good pizza. And after hearing the owners moved here from Greece and opened this place then I just had to try their Gyro and it was AMAZING!!! All the ingredients were soo fresh and high quality. The seating the decor and the ambience is very well kept and clean, inviting. The people and servers are nice. The appetizers are tasty (sweet potato fries are delicious and crunchy) - reasonably priced as well. Unfortunately, we ordered the Mezalina (eggplant) pizza and it was very bland. Of note, we switched mozz to ricotta cheese. Crust crispy, but Barely any sauce or cheese on the actual pizza, the eggplant was cooked but extremely watery - pizza just tasted like cardboard. Definitely edible pizza, but not a special gourmet pizza. Very dissatisfied. Would not go there again to eat pizza. read more

I've eaten here for several business meetings and my clients were very impressed with the quality of the food and the great service. I love the gyro's and the desserts to only mention a few. The scene here is surrounded by various kinds of books for you to read. Thus the name Scuola which means school in Greek. I guess as I'm not Greek but every meal I've had here has been great. What a delightful restaurant. Situated in a small strip mall you would never expect to find this high quality food. We sat outside and Bryan attended to our every need. He was knowledgeable about the meals and had great suggestions. We had a house and Greek salad. Both were not only fresh but well balanced in ingredients. The tzatziki was excellent-very close to what I find in Corfu. The lasagne had a typical Greek red sauce on it and the flavor was divine. My pizza was cooked in a stone oven. Thin crust and bursting with flavor. This is a must to add to your list of places to eat. Salad, drink, entree, bread and dessert came to 20 with leftovers for 2 more meals. We love pizza and typically go out once a week for pizza. We were excited to try this new Gainesville pizzeria. The environment was very pleasant and our server was a delight. We simply ordered a 12" pizza with pepporini and sausage. We asked for it to be well done - crispy and maybe a little burnt around the edges. . The pizza was very flavorful and there was plenty of cheese. But the center of the crust was doughy and the toppings were very scant. We have never seen such small pepperoni - it was about 1" across and not much sausage either. We know they are new and just getting things going. Maybe there is a pepperoni shortage??? We are willing to try them again because it wasn't a bad experience, just a bit disappointing. They could also beef up their beer and wine offerings to make it a more pleasant dining experience. read more

My husband met the owner delivering 20+ pizzas at the Florida-Tennessee football game and suggested we try his restaurant. I love the decor of posters including handwriting, grammar, multiplication chart , and interesting books displayed. The Greek salad was excellent. On Sunday I phoned in an ordered for pizza for pickup. When I got there the ordered had not been submitted. A gentleman I assume was the owner or the manager came out and apologized for what had happened and said there would be no charge. They brought it out to my car when it was ready.
