This is the coolest college restaurant! If you have kids, this is the place to go! They have many play areas and climbing aparattuses! They also have the best pizza I've ever had. Typically, the crust is the worst part, but here it's the best! It's basically a giant garlic bread. Everything was so delicious and this place is so eclectic it will keep your eyes busy for hours!

Okay, don't judge, but it took me a year of living in Gainesville to finally stop in at Satchels. I'd been craving great pizza for some time and boy did Satchels not disappoint! Got their lunch special (slice and salad) and added another slice onto that. Oh my, the first bite took me back to my favorite (long closed) pizza place from my childhood in South Florida. The slight sweetness of the tomato sauce, the not thick crust that was nice and crispy in the bottom...serious flashbacks! And the salad was incredible as well! Skipped dessert this time around, but their dessert menu presentation...on an old ViewMaster...hahaha, such a great way to show you their desserts. Service is superb and the ambiance is fun and incredibly unique, with all the stained glass and different lamps at each table and more throughout. Overall, don't skip Satchels on any visit to Gainesville, so much fun character and wonderful food. Parking can be a bit challenging as it is a tight lot, but be patient...you will leave incredibly happy!

Had a quick stop at satchels today for a pizza. A very funky restaurant with fun decor, a decommissioned jeep out front that doubles as a dining table, and homemade craft sodas. We got a large pepperoni and ricotta pizza. The crust was crisp and buttery and the pizza itself was fantastic. Great service and friendly staff. Highly recommend if you're in the area looking for a fun pizza joint.

Such a cute gem! The place is a collection of forgotten items and moments from your past, but put together in a beautifully artistic way. Cute lamps at tables. Various designs resined into tables. Incredible art on the walls, I think from local artists. House made cane sugar sodas. Their house salad is delicious! I got the lunch deal which was salad and a slice, best deal I've seen in a long time. Service was good, staff is hard working and friendly. They even sell plants!? I just love what they're doing here and wish I lived closer so I could come back all the time.

I actually asked for Satchel's Pizza for my birthday! A few friends took me out and we finally got to sit up near the airplane. You can look up the history of any airplane by searching the call number on the side of it. We did! Even though the plane no longer flies, the info was on the net. It also had installation photos, before they built the deck around it! Pretty cool!

I had the best vegan pizza tonight from Satchel's. I ordered the millet and flax pizza with vegan cheese with lot of veggie toppings. The crust was perfect, I heated in my toaster oven which gave some crunch. I also ordered a large satch salad which is super fresh and was enough for at least 4 people. It was super busy being that it was Saturday night but my order was ready at the promised time. Will definitely order again.

Hands down one of the absolute coolest places we have been to eat. You can eat in a van for goodness sakes. So many areas for the kids to play including a plane! There are so many incredible spaces. The pizza was absolutely delicious. The service was good. She was attentive and got us anything we needed. Absolutely sit outside if possible!

As a New Yorker, I am very picky about my pizza but this slice was divine! I got artichokes, sundried tomatoes, and bacon on it. The bacon was so Smokey and delicious. I ordered another slice to go! The salad was also one of the better salads I e had in a long time. I'm definitely coming back! The staff was great and the atmosphere is fun and artsy.

Definitely worth a visit if you're on the Eastside of Town. All ambiance, with "okay" pizza. The service is good and there's a wide selections of toppings, as well as beers. PRO TIP: good for a family out or a large group.

This is the star of the lunch it is a salad and has a little bit of everything feta cheese on top apples and it's just works well together

I went there for lunch and I've been there before this place is consistently one of the best pizza places around it's a little bit strange in the decor I would say more hippies which I really love old school bus outside van in the parking lot converted to a dining area hanging stained glass pictures just a really neat place but the star of this place is truly the food and the employees. I had the lunch special one slice of pizza with a salad for $10 the server's name was Elena and all I can say was she is amazing so pleasant quick didn't miss a Beat totally on top of things they work the wait staff as a team so the other people were always jumping into clear tables or refill or what ever was needed this is a real Jewel and should not be missed.

Revised opinion to 5/5! Again, satchel's is quirky and unique which is already such a draw but on this visit, the complaints I had last time were completely resolved. I got the meatball instead of the sausage this time and it was delicious. Additionally, the crust was not as rock-like as last time, still able to maintain its structure but crispy instead of crunchy. I'm so glad the crust is edible because the garlic flavor was delicious and I'm glad I didn't have to skip it this time. Also I've gotten to try several different toppings, none of which disappoint. Additionally, got the chance to attend their Wednesday night trivia (2nd and 4th Wed of the month at 7 PM) which is always a fun time. Satchel's truly is a Gainesville gem

I've been coming to Satchel's since... honestly, maybe 2014? I tried to dig through my camera roll for some old food pics but all I found were goofy shots in the van and the attached ones here. The food is always a hit -- the pizza is a classic, the Satch salad is a must, and I always rave about their cannolis. What's also cool is that their plates and silverware are all different, which just adds to the charm. There's even a little store with fun goodies and knick-knacks to browse through while you wait or after your meal. Every time I come home, Satchel's is a non-negotiable stop. Can't wait to go back & next time I'm definitely snapping pics of the food too!

The locals seem to really like this place. We come here often when we visit our family. They have delicious pizzas and good lunch deals. The service is nice and friendly. This place is unique and fun, decorated with window glass and artsy things. They have games and random fun things for kids to play. Highly recommend this place

FINALLY returned to this gem in the 4th Ave Food Park! I came here over a year ago and absolutely…read moreloved it. I am personally a big fan of Detroit style pizza and thought they did a pretty good job. While they aren't owned or affiliated with Satchel's anymore, the eatery still offers that same unique vibe of Satchel's. Ordering is simple, just order inside and they will call your name out when it is ready over an intercom. Everything is made fresh to order, so be prepared to wait at least 15 minutes for your pizza. It is served directly out of the oven and is very hot and fresh! They offer some specialty pizzas, but they have so many topping options it is super easy to curate your own pizza too. The pizzas are a nice size, about an 8x10 pan size. A good personal pizza size, but could easily be shared too. Along with pizzas, they offer salad, waffles, some desserts, and brews. This go around, I customized my own pie. I went with pepperoni (they use the cup pepperonis!), black olives, mushrooms, and basil. These toppings balanced out perfectly and there were ample amounts of each. The pizza was covered in toppings, with a nice sauce to cheese ratio. I love the cup pepperonis and find they hold a lot more flavor, bringing more to the pizza overall. The saltiness of the olives and the fresh mushrooms accompanied the pizza perfectly. The edges were nice and crisp, the sauce flavorful, and the cheese was divine. It wasn't soggy by any means either, which I GREATLY appreciate. This pizza was phenomenal, while it wasn't the most authentic Detroit style, it was certainly close enough! I also got a salad, which was underwhelming to say the least. It was supposed to come with "homemade croutons", but lacked them completely. Definitely not worth the $8.50...wouldn't recommend the salad. While the pizza is a little more expensive, especially considering they only offer takeout, the quality is present. And I do think the serving size is bigger, so I say it's worth it! Overall, I was super pleased with my experience and was more than happy I finally returned. The pizza was just as good as I remembered. Everything is made fresh to order and the service is great as well. I would for sure check this place out, especially if you are in the mood for some good pizza! Can't wait to return and try more.

I often went to SquareHouse Pizza thinking it would be like when they first opened, but it makes…read moresense after they separated from Satchels it would never be the same. I have come time and time again disappointed with the pizza size and the time it took to make it. Size: Pizza used to come in the size of their box! As you can see in my picture, that is no longer the case. It is no longer an actual square like its namesake but a rectangle. It reminds me of "all squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares." And while it makes me chuckle to think how SquareHouse should know that. I am still disappointed in paying for that much of a pizza when I could get a larger one to share with friends at the same price point elsewhere. Service: Now I understand they can get busy but one time I waited 25 minutes with only one person ahead of me for my food -- a before anyone says anything. I ordered their waffles. Another time, they never called my name. They have a speaker but don't use it. It is a food park with tables everywhere. If you don't use the speaker system and know folks sit further than you can scream, then I think they should give a beeper. Ambience: It's at the food park which is great as long as it's not raining bc spaces to sit under covered areas are limited. And bc it was previously partnered with Satchels it has the same vibe. Overall, go once if you haven't but just be ready for disappointment Update since writing to address the comments of the business owner: 1) When I say first opened, I meant when it was called SatchSquared. 2) Size of the pizza: You're right I looked at pictures and updated. They aren't squares but from one years ago. They definitely filled the box more. 3) I sincerely don't appreciate being told about waiting or orders ahead and phone calls. I have come here more than 20 times and my experiences are always the same. I've come at opening, during high traffic times, and etc. And I am not someone to review after one instance of a place, I like to give them chances. I have lived in Gainesville for 17 years, and I'm very well aware of being polite to residents. I have definitely sat in the tables in the covered area close to the pick up window and have had to ask if my food was ready bc my name was not called and just to find out it was ready. I gave a suggestion about using beepers like the other places. I'm sorry my review caused some upset feeling but I stand by it. Service is not great. If you wanted to discuss via email then you could've politely said that. I won't be returning. Thanks!

I ordered take out today from Piesanos as I was craving pizza and it is located near my apartment…read more I've been here a couple times for dinner and have always had a decent meal. Piesanos serves Italian cuisine, specializing in pizza. I would recommend their pizza over anything else on the menu, as I have found it leaves me the most satisfied! If you dine in, you should definitely indulge in the complimentary Piesanos rolls. The service is usually pretty good here as well. I tried to order online using their website, but it kept declining my card. I tried both manually typing in the card information and using Apple Pay and neither worked. However, when I ordered through DoorDash, my card worked, and my meal actually ended up being cheaper! My order took about 20 minutes and pickup was super easy. They weren't busy at all when I ordered, but it was earlier in the day. For my pizza, I went with the 12" Pizza Antico. This pizza includes fresh mozzarella, mini cup & char pepperoni & fresh basil. I ordered it on a regular crust instead of the ultra thin it usually comes on. I've had this pizza before and really enjoyed it. This time didn't disappoint either! The robust sauce has a lot of flavor and there is ample amounts of it across the pie. The mozzarella was dispersed evenly and paired perfectly with the tomato sauce. The cup & char pepperonis are divine and are simply the best pepperonis on any pizza. The pizza was covered in them and the edges the pepperonis had a nice crispy, crunch. There was also plenty of basil and Italian herbs/spices which amplified the savory flavors. The pizza was very fresh and hit the spot. I will say, this is a pizza you want to eat quicker as it will get soggy. There was a lot of sauce, could have been less, and it makes the thin base of the pizza get soggier faster. The mozzarella also contributes to this as the slabs of mozzarella weigh the thin base down too. This is why I would recommend ordering a regular crust as opposed to the ultra thin. I will also note I ordered regular crust and but the pizza I received still had a very thin crust. Overall, I think Piesanos is a good establishment! They offered plenty of options to suite anyone's Italian cravings. I really enjoy their pizza from time to time and would recommend ordering any of their pies. For the best pizza experience, eat in and don't get takeout. The service is good and efficient. The location is prime as they are pretty much the only Italian place in midtown. Look forward to my next visit!

Our appetizer and drink orders taken, we set to decide whether to try the Greek offerings or the Italian! Both looked delicious and the reviews I read previously really set my mouth watering for pizza AND the souvlaki! Unfortunately, my husband got his good old standby, Chicken Parmesan. We both tried different medium pizzas and we ordered Calamari Fritta (but asked for the peppers to not be included) as our appetizer. Have you ever had super fresh REAL calamari? Sliced fresh and hand breaded and then served to you? I had one other time in Tarpon Springs, and this was just as incredibly dished up for us! Marinara sauce and a spicy sweet sauce like a Mae Ploy was also served with them and two nice lemon slices. Stupendous! Our drinks? Perfectly done-- considering our excellent waiter, AJ, didn't know what an Arnold Palmer even was! What a surprising, talented young man! My souvlaki! Absolutely to die for! Wowza! The side I got was the garlic broccolini and YUMMMMM! My husband's chicken parm was so good that he devoured it BEFORE I could even snap a picture! I got the Lil' Sicily that has pepperoni, sausage, ricotta, basil and oregano. The hubby chose the Scoula pie that has pepperoni, Italian sausage, ground beef, mushrooms, onions and green peppers. Both were out of this WORLD! Needless to say, I think we just found our newest favorite spot for dinner. So many Greek dishes to keep me happy and plenty of Italian ones to keep the husband happy too! Don't know why we hadn't stopped in before now to try this place!!
