We order the small salad it was amazing, it was enough for a party of four! My dad and his wife ordered the Hawaiian, it looked amazing! My wife ordered pepperoni with garlic and basil, I will add picture of hers! I order basic pepperoni! Let me say this it was worth the wait plus more!!! This pizza jumps into my top 5 ever! Sauce cheese and crisp are amazing! I didn't think it would live up to the hype but it surpassed it! As for the restaurant itself it looks like an artist dream! We were in a hurry after a UF event, stopped in for slices to go. Ordered ahead (bacon slice, mushroom slice). Fast friendly service on phone and at pickup. Bacon slice - lots of freshly cooked bacon; mushroom slice had tons of diced fresh mushrooms. Dough was fluffy, with good chew / pull. Cheese even, tasty. Sauce - excellent with a slight spicy kick. Great experience at Satchel's! Stopped for lunch while passing through town on a chilly Saturday, and we could smell the warm pizza flavors wafting out as we approached! Good amount of seating both inside and outside- all super electric, including a van you can eat in! We opted for inside which was cozy. We started with the homemade soda flight, for $7 which included 7 different small glasses. Personal family favorites were the gingerale, rootbeer and grape soda- all delicious. Next, ordered custom slices - each slice is about two regular slices. The cheese and veggie options were popular and extremely tasty! One slice (the mama, 4 toppings $7) was perfect for me while others ordered 2 slices. Sauce was delicious but had a little spice kick to it so just a heads up for kids or others who might not expect that. Staff was super friendly and helpful. For dessert options, they offer an old school view finder - we were too stuffed but enjoyed flipping through it - so cute and clever! I went there for lunch and I've been there before this place is consistently one of the best pizza places around it's a little bit strange in the decor I would say more hippies which I really love old school bus outside van in the parking lot converted to a dining area hanging stained glass pictures just a really neat place but the star of this place is truly the food and the employees. Lived up to the hype! Great lunch special--$10 slice & salad. The salad is soooo good...not something I would have thought I liked because the mix of ingredients but it was really tangy, a little sweet, crunchy. The service was great too. I can finally say after living here for over 20 years, I finally made it to Satchel's. The location just isn't convenient for me so it finally took a special trip. The place is really cool and lived up to all the vibes I had been told about. However, we did sit outside at one of the concrete picnic type tables and my back and butt regretted that later as they are obviously hard and no back rest. Service was good and friendly. The pizza was good, but not amazing. I have heard people rave about Satchel's for years, so I may have had too high expectations. Really good sauce, toppings seemed fresh, but could have used a little more cheese. The crust was good and crisp, however the toppings and sauce could have been spread to the edge more as there was at least 2 inches of crust along the edges. (As evidenced by some of the pictures posted by others.) Overall a decent pizza joint and cool place to visit, but ultimately not convenient for me. read more

Okay, don't judge, but it took me a year of living in Gainesville to finally stop in at Satchels. I'd been craving great pizza for some time and boy did Satchels not disappoint! Got their lunch special (slice and salad) and added another slice onto that. Oh my, the first bite took me back to my favorite (long closed) pizza place from my childhood in South Florida. The slight sweetness of the tomato sauce, the not thick crust that was nice and crispy in the bottom...serious flashbacks! And the salad was incredible as well! Skipped dessert this time around, but their dessert menu presentation...on an old ViewMaster...hahaha, such a great way to show you their desserts. Service is superb and the ambiance is fun and incredibly unique, with all the stained glass and different lamps at each table and more throughout. Overall, don't skip Satchels on any visit to Gainesville, so much fun character and wonderful food. Parking can be a bit challenging as it is a tight lot, but be patient...you will leave incredibly happy! read more

This is a "not to be missed" place in Gainesville. It's worth a visit even if it's just to see the funky and ever so creative decor. Be sure to tour the full place before you leave, as there are lots of interesting things to see toward the back and the sides. Now for the food - I had a pretty amazing gluten sensitive pizza. It's actually called Millet and Flax Pizza and it tastes so much better than it might sound. The "Tiny" was not so tiny. The menu is very clear that this is "gluten sensitive" and has traces of gluten. So - Celiacs beware. The crust was thin and tasty, the sauce was great, and the cheese was good quality. It's hard to find good gluten sensitive pizza and this one was particularly good. The Satchel Salad was filled with delicious things and the Calzone was generous in size and tasty. It was nice to get an outside table and the service was excellent. I look forward to returning and will save my appetite when I do. read more

Local pizza spot is well known within the Gainesville community and the surrounding area. The decore of the entire restaurant and bar are full of license plates , paintings for starters then there are the outside tables inside a van and then there is a plane also. Their pizza is amazing , and it can get quite busy here, and their salads !! Wow!! A small salad fed both of us several times. They have their own craft sodas as well. I have been visiting Satchel's many times throughout my time in Gainesville and took my boyfriend's family here while they were visiting on 7/2/26. The deep dish pizza was fantastic but we suspect that the salad left our whole family with GI upset for the past two weeks, matching the recent cyclosporiasis outbreaks. This was the only time we ate together as a group and can only draw the conclusion that it came from the salad. Haven't had Satchel's Pizza in awhile. We moved and Satchels in a bit of a drive. Started coming back recently for take-out because I was in the area. The atmosphere is still cool and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We've been enjoying the steak and cheese calzone. It's so simple but so perfectly executed with quality ingredients. It's packed with ribeye and for 17.00 it's two meals and a snack with is a great bargain. I finally tried the deep dish pizza. I was blown away. How can pizza be so heavy and dense yet fluffy and crispy? The crust is such and explosion of crunchy crispy goodness. I've heard people saying Satchels is expensive and it ain't cheap however good quality costs money and I heard Satchel pays his employees a proper wage. read more

This was a fun way to start the weekend! Family was in town for the weekend and we decided to come to Satchel's on Friday night. I loved the vibe and the pizza was good! They serve a pan pizza and NY style pizzas. You can customize the toppings. We ordered a pan pizza for four adults and two NY cheese slices for the kids. The pan pizza was the perfect size and the crust was cooked well! The dough was okay and a bit airy for pizza. The NY pizza was okay. Not the best I had but not the worst I had. For a starter we ordered the satch salad and it was great! It was a big portion and hit the spot! We did not order dessert but it looked yummy! Overall: This is one of the local spots that you need to go to if you're ever in Gainesville. They have great eclectic decor with great pizza. Ambience: There is parking outside but the main can be a little tight. There is an additional parking lot just a few feet down that is less tight to park and back out of than the main area. There are plenty of places to sit. To sit in the "van," you have to see the hostess and check availability. They have a bar area that is opening seating and has little knick knacks like a mini-lite brite and other toys for kids who grew up in the 90s. I like sitting in the bar area when watching Gator games or if there is live music. You can also sit outside surrounded by plants and check out a cool airplane. They added a playground of sorts for kids. Over the years, the back area has been made kid friendly. Inside the main sitting area has such a modge podge of decor. You could play eye-spy and every table has a different "top." Food: The pizza is great and why most people come to Satchel's, but do not sleep on the salad! And the portion sizes are pretty decent! I would honestly just come to eat their salad. They have local beers and some crafts sodas. To see the dessert menu, they bring out a ViewMaster (another 90s kid toy). Service: Is pretty good! I went to the bar/to go order side of the restaurant. I did order a slice of pepperoni pizza and did get their salad. I enjoyed their pizza it was thin, crispy, and the right temperature. We're in town to visit family and they all wanted to go to Satchel's. This is a really cool spot to grab some pizza. It's very eclectic, for lack of a better word. They have a gift shop in the back with all these old school board games, harmonicas and stuff I remember from when I was a kid. Remember those peg boards, "Light Bright"? Yea. They have those for sale. As for the food, it was decent. The Satchels Salad was really good with their special dressing. The pizza is hand tossed and has a crispy undercarriage and crispy crust. If you're a cheese person you definitely want to order extra cheese because that as well as the other toppings are minimal. I like toppings and this didn't fit the bill in that category. The service also left something to be desired. We would have to say excuse me, excuse me, excuse me to get our waitress to stop and get refills or anything else we needed. I do recommend it for the experience of it but I'm sure you could find better pizza somewhere in Gainesville and you could definitely find better service. read more

We got the soda flight which seem to vary day by day since they make it themselves. They could have been more carbonated. We also got the Major pizza and added hot honey. It was very tasty and a typical college pizza. The environment is really what you're paying for. The place is super cool and can keep you exploring for hours. OMG Satchel's. In a world of minimalism and farmhouse chic, Satchel's is an exercise in brilliant maximalism and I am here for it. I found this pizza place online, while looking for a restaurant near UF. We have some dietary restrictions in my house, and this checked a lot of boxes. I wanted to sit outside in the fun garden/patio, but it was still a little warm, so we opted for the dining room. Satchel's makes all their own soft drinks, so I asked for their version of a diet cola. The server asked me if had tried it before, and if she could bring me a sample first. I'm glad she did. It was good, but I preferred an unsweet tea as the flavor was just a bit too strong in comparison. We went back and forth on the menu until I advised my husband to order a pizza customized to his needs and we could take the rest home. He went for a pesto base with feta and some veggies. I wanted to try their regular pizza, so I ordered a slice of cheese with their house salad to split. Honestly, next time, I wouldn't share. It was delicious with all sorts of "stuff" and a yummy vinaigrette. That being said, the small did easily serve the both of us with some extra, so great value. Service was great. Vibe was immaculate. What a fun spot! I've been here twice and still feel like I'm missing things that I should look at! Upon entry, you see the van parked in the front yard, and as you pass it - the doors are open and people are sitting inside eating pizza. It's super cool! But, that means your eyes are up and not looking down at the entry sidewalk - it's paved in Pennie's and occasional keys - another fun find! We had the Satch salad and added feta and ham. Food was delivered promptly and three of us split the salad with some leftover. It's huge and their dressing isn't overwhelming - the perfect amount. If you love it like me, you can buy it afterwards. This time we ordered a deep dish with mushrooms, artichokes and extra cheese - I love me some cheesy za! It was heavenly - and again, the three of us split it and had 3 slices leftover! Two were so full after 1 piece that they split the other. I'm not saying who ate two whole pieces...Leslie. ;-D If you are here, the visit isn't complete without going to the back bldg and seeing all the fun things they sell.
