Scruffy Murphys - Lobster Roll $19.99. Best in Worcester - Irish Pub Near Me - Worcester, Massachusetts

Really pains me to leave this. I live close by and have eaten here, as well as ordered food to go, dozens of times. The service has gotten complacent; and today, was especially rude. No one cares about a long story, but I ordered one thing, received another thing, and then when I asked about it, I was told it was definitely me that was wrong. I never raised my voice, never used any language. In fact, I was taken aback at the level of attitude given how I approached the problem. I ended up getting my money back for that item, but not without new attitude and zero apology or admittance of any wrong doing. I just don't understand why I was treated so poorly over something so easily solvable. Can't go back - and I'm sure no one cares, but at least I got to "tell" the story. read more

Wanting to give this place a try we stopped in one day, mid afternoon. Decor was bright and crisp! we chose seats at the bar. Server was slow to acknowledge us, but finally came over and took our drink order. we asked for menus. The place was not busy...maybe 6 patrons....a few at the bar. We ordered burger and the flat bread special;. Prices were reasonable...burger was tiny..it was "lost" in the bun. .flat bread was disappointing...barely warm, little cheese, and squiggles of a dressing that just tasted off. server was less than attentive, seeming bored to be there. We had to try hard to get her attention to order another drink. She did, after we ordered, wipe down the bar area in front of us.. but left the previous patrons dirty glass sitting there...the whole time we were there. While the atmosphere was comfortable...I doubt we'll make an effort to return. read more

FOS was very good, service was timely and attentive, and the atmosphere was very friendly

I got a Caesar salad and it was really yummy! Granted it isn't very hard to make, but the lettuce was fresh and crunchy and the croutons weren't stale! The servers seem to be doing their best with what they've been given. Everyone was wearing masks, which, regardless or your belief, is mandated and therefore a good thing! Give them a try :) read more

Was at Scruffys last night. Long wait for a table but that was to be expected. Once we were seated we sat for quite a while without receiving a menu or asked for a drink. I finally asked one of the waitresses who was our waitress and she said we all are. RUDE . Attitude adjustment needed. My husband got the prime rib and wanted it cook Medium . It was cooked well and was dry. No one every came back to the table to inquire if our food was any good. So needless to say we were very disappointed and will not be back. Also there was no breakdown of our bill so we did not know how much we paid for anything. And the prime rib was very thin ,never seen it served that way. We stopped on the way home to get a burger, just to get full. read more

I absolutely love this place the service the bartenders they're all excellent. The food is incredible. Every time I recommend the chicken margarita wrap with sweet potato fries. They also have any kind of beer that you want on tap all good choices. read more

Food always good , service and speed not as dependable , but when in ask after 45 minutes where our dinner is i do not need gruff responses from the wait staff read more

Great place. Good food, huge bar and cold beer. Lots of TV's and good atmosphere. Clearly doing something right. Daily specials that make you want to go every night. Nice job! read more

iI really hope this gets to Steve's manager because after reading another post and his behavior towards customers (his attitude, throwing customer and son out of the restaurant, pulling a chair away from them) that something is done with him. He is definitely rude and arrogant because I've experienced this myself. This is not how you treat people working in a restaurant no matter how your day is going. It actually is a relief when I go there and he's not there. No one should ever have to feel that way going to a place to eat and relax. If you don't like your job just leave. I'm usually not one to complain but this behavior has to stop. read more

Stopped here on a whim on the way to Worcester airport. Wasn't expecting much but the 3 of us were pleasantly surprised. Wanted something lite so I ordered the side salad for $5. Very generous portion for that price. Very fresh. Husband ordered a Cuban sandwich which was equally generously proportioned to the point where he ended up boxing up the other half; something he rarely does. Daughter got an excellent Cobb salad and we had a couple of beers. Great service too! We definitely hope to go back if in the area again! read more

Wonderful food, decent prices. Great waitstaff ...specials are great as one can tell by the line....have to go early

Food is very good. Yesterday at noon time I called to place an order. I continued to call for an hour. No answer. I then drove by at 1:00 and they were open. I called again no answer. Bad business. I f you are unable to take orders because you are busy, put that message on your answering machine and switch it back when you can take orders. read more

I'll probably give it another try but not my favorite. The menu has too many meat products and the selection was small (although the appetizers go on forever). The prices are too high. Even with the change in decor and updates of the place I can still see "Friendly's." The tv's are large and throughout. The bar is large. The most frustrating thing about any restaurant is not accurately listing all ingredients in a meal. I have objection to saying "hold the..." but if it's not listed I can't say that and now I'm forced to pick through my meal. The buffalo chicken salad was bountiful and hot the spot at the moment but was nothing extraordinary. Service was polite and responsive. read more

Great place.. Terrific menu from Apps to Entrees.. Talented bar staff.. Friendly wait staff.. Parking can be a little tough, depending on time of day, and to complicate things, the property is monitored by a "security" company that has been known to TOW vehicles for poor parking.. (ie: not parking "within" the painted lines) so be very aware of tire placement upon landing!! Scruffys does NOT own the property.. Security is not "theirs".. They have LOTS of tv's and Keno too! I highly recommend, just be very aware of your parking job. read more

I ordered the haddock plate and a seafood plate and requested to substitute the mashed for another veggie with the haddock. They charged me $3 and added more carrots (the other veggie) . . . and no lemon for the fish. If you are going to charge me extra for a second veggie at least tell me it's an extra charge. That I can't substitue. Not worth the price of two dinners for $32.00. read more

The food here is AMAZING!! From wraps to lettuce wraps!! Everyone was also so friendly inside and you get your money's worth for sure !!!

Nice variety. Great fish and chips. Good service.friendly staff. Definitely would eat here again

Happy the first time I want the last two times I tried it. The food has declined. Frozen side dishes, over refrigerated, cream, sauces, and other food . I understand being busy,I just expect the food to be edible not just part of it. Especially that it's not very cheap to eat out nowadays. The service was great and probably the reason people would definitely return.. read more

I hope people are understanding about the difficulty restaurants are having staffing issues. This will effect wait times, ticket times etc. be patient and understanding. I have been in this business for 40 years and have always received excellent service and food quality. Lobster Roll the very best I've ever had and ribs outstanding. What a great neighborhood place to have! One recommendation... you should post a sign at takeout pick up car parking spaces to alert drivers to turn of vehicles as the exhaust does not do the patio diners any favors. read more

Scruffy's has been on my list of places to check out for a while now. I can honestly say this was the first and will be the last visit there. The only thing that was good about the visit was the drinks. My boyfriend got a sandwich- the french fries that came with it tasted freezer burned and were rock hard. I got the ribeye, which was very bland and the boxed mashed potatoes did nothing for the meal. Our server was extremely slow even though the restaurant was not busy. Another staff member must've felt bad for us sitting around and waiting for more drinks because they finally came over to help us out. Definitely a one and done experience. read more

the best thing about this place is their parking. other than that both the food and service are horrible.

The food here, particularly the onion rings, is amazingly delicious!! Good selection of craft beers. Atmosphere is lacking a little, but it could've just been the night I was there. Definitely will be back! read more

I went in with my boyfriend and we waited 5 minutes for someone to seat us or acknowledge us then left when that didn't happen.

I've been here a lot with family. Not the worst experience I have had but Service is not the same.I don't think "Seat yourself" is the best idea since some of the tables haven't been cleaned and the wait staff don't acknowledge you for 10-15 min. Although my waiter was nice, he didn't check in on us and we had to grab his attention multiple times. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and the pulled pork was rancid. Waited another 10 minutes to grab his attention and let them know. He was very pleasant about it after I showed him the color and smell. I was able to order the New England clam chowder which was delicious. Drinks were okay. Had to correct the check because they charged us for the Cuban.. read more

We've given this a place a few tries, so it's not just a one time thing. We had apps the first time, the chicken ranch egg rolls and the beef sliders, both were great. We've tried wraps, can;t remember which ones, but good also. We went in for dinner, had prime rib and seafood casserole. The prime rib was great, but the sides were lacking, looked like frozen mashed potatoes and baby carrots that come in the plastic bags, no flavor at all. We got the egg rolls again, and they were terrible, no bacon, no flavor and presentation was lacking. The drink prices, beer and spiked seltzer is high, $6 for a seltzer! (they sell the same one for $4.50 at Quinns) They need a better chef, and for the amount of servers/bartenders, it's not the fastest. The restaurant itself is great, they did a great job with the remodel, open airy and very clean. We've had a couple bartenders that were good, especially one named Ryanne (spelling?) We'll go back, but they need to get the food up to par, I know it's still new, willing to try again, but will wait a bit! read more

One of the bartenders isn't covering his nose with a mask. Dine here at your own risk.

I have been a regular for over a year and the food and drinks are not consistent and if there is an issue the attitude is oh well sounds like not my problem. They are not willing to fix their error and have no problem charging the customer for something that they didn't eat or drink because it was too foul to consume. read more

Glad a place like this has opened up in Tatnuck. Walked in initially hoping to just get a beer but felt pressured to be seated. A little awkward as I was assuming it would be like Funky's where you can just stand and have a beer. Came back for lunch and had the fish n chips. Fish was good not great but fries were bogus. Alas, a classic Irish menu and a clean and friendly facility. Cheers. read more

Where do I begin? The food is uninspired pub grub, the drinks are so so, wait staff is good but, bar staff snobby and definitely caters to regulars. Don't understand why this place is so popular. Can only imagine that Worcester's unrefined palate can't tell the difference between a good and bad restaurant. Have been here several times and don't understand what the fuss is about.. read more

First time i went was 2 weeks after opening and it was okay my beer was flat as can be and our chicken bacon ranch appetizer was nasty, the chicken was like blended and soggy and it was just horrible. Then our food came out and its cold and BLAND there was no flavor at all, i felt i had to add so much salt and pepper and malt vinegar to give it some taste. Went back a second time tonight to give the place the benefit of the doubt that sure they just opened ill give it another go.. but this time my food was worse. My potatoes were stone cold, my "fresh" vegetables were way under cooked and frozen basically... and guess what ... my drink was still flat. The woman next to us said the person who sat in the seats before us also said her food was cold everything was cold .... my mother got a soda and that was even flat, so she gave it back to bartender who them tried the soda and AGREED it was flat... but he never took it off the bill I most likely will NOT be returning to this restaurant.. i had such high hopes for it too... read more

I just walked in for lunch. Not very busy. I sat at the bar. Two bartenders. No one would look at me or acknowledge me. All you had to say was Hi and I will be right with you. I guess I'm revolting looking. I just wanted a little lunch. I waited 10 minutes. They served other people. I just walked out. No thank you. read more

While the food here is typically great, I definitely won't be returning. I visited Scruffy Murphy's with my family on a not busy Sunday afternoon. After taking our drink order, we waited about 15 minutes for drinks. After taking our food order, our waitress was MIA for OVER a half hour. No check ins, no refills, no update on our food. When we spoke to the manager and asked for the check, our food was rushed out. We were not offered an apology or any explanation. The food was subpar and the second round of drinks were incorrect and and brought out to us as we were leaving. The situation was not handled appropriately by management and I am extremely disappointed in their customer service. read more

This place may look good on the outside but beware on the inside. Awful service !! the waitress could not even remember a simple drink order and had to come back to ask what I had ordered. After dinner was served, as a previous waitress I know you are supposed to ask if everything Is ok well that never happened. They are too busy on their phones and talking amongst each other. I'm not sure who the manager is at this facility but that person should be replaced. And for the record I had to choose one star in order to post this review! read more

Absolutely disgusting. Potatoes were instant, steak had a burnt flavor, food came out cold. sent it back and came back still disgusting. The waitresses had b@#$% faces and were the rudest I have ever talked to. Took my waitress over fifteen minutes to check on us after food came out. Another waitress asked if we wanted another drink. Our waitress came over and I sent the plate back. Not re-done, came back out with an additional plop of instant potatoes slightly warm with a cup of butter. Our waitress didnt check on us again for fifteen minutes. Then a different waitress came over after I tasted the terrible meal. I explain to her how gross everything was, she proceeded to give me a dirty look, took my plate and was a jerk. That same jerk of a waitress, continued to pass our table giving us looks to kill and was an a#@. Never again and I would suggest no one else eat there. So disappointed that this was an Irish pub and even the mashed potatoes sucked. Hospitality was rated zero from staff. The wachusett beer was the only thing good. Scruffy Murphys needs a new cook and wait staff. Worst meal ever. read more

Repeat customer until now. I paid 200 dollars and more every weekend until now. Absolutely terrible customer service, manager threatened us, waitress told us to order to go meals later then proceeded to say the kitchen was now closed. Clueless waitstaff as well as disrespectful manager that was sitting down in some sections with other customers without his mask on. I thought the customer was always right but in this place the customer is wrong and the covid inviting staff believes they are always right. Food is below average and you feel disrespected when you walk in. Overall I would never recommend this place to anyone, horrible atmosphere, incredibly rude management, and terrible communication. 0 stars. read more
