Local dive bar , very small and musty. I have been here a handful of times . Bar is always full. Definitely could use some renovation. The food is cheap and good . The service is overall fast. You can see your food being cooked in the bar area. I never mind coming here for a quick bite with good company for a quick drink and meal. But it's always a quick stop. Today I had a bacon cheeseburger , cooked medium rare with a side of bbq sauce and a Patron & cranberry with a splash of sprite. I do enjoy their popcorn machine that I can make myself a pre-meal bowl of . No hate , but just could be better . I will be back again. I don't recommend to non locals read more

My parents live down the street and I never knew this place even existed. We came here for drinks last night and the place was packed. The server was nice but it was a struggle to order food. Needless to say, we each had a drink and left as we couldn't get the servers attention to get food. The menu is American fare and I'd like to return to check out some time. I was told the drinks were strong but they didn't seem strong to me at all. Perhaps weaker than I'm used to compared to most places. Once I'm able to try the food and bar service I'll have a better idea about this place. Based on last night, it was eh. read more

Gross local dive bar that overserves regulars. Place is damp and mildew smell. Sticky dirty carpet. The place is small and is usually regulars crowding the bar. The food is not edible. Bennie's was recommended by a friend so my wife and I decided to give it a try. We are generally sit at the bar and was glad that there were two open seats available and a good view to the kitchen/food prep area. Understanding that Bennies is what some would call a dive bar which is pretty much accurate, good selection of Chardonnay, limited beers on tap but seemed fresh and cold. Now on to the food, I ordered the Bennies Bacon Cheeseburger which comes with a bag of chips and pickle (which I never got). The burger was overcooked, dry and tasteless even though I asked for slightly pink, the bun was not fresh and had to ask for ketchup and mustard to give it some moisture and flavor. The chips were spot on! My wife ordered a hotdog and side of potato salad which she enjoyed, hard to mess up a hotdog right?!? Since our seat had a good view to the cook and grilling area I was not comfortable seeing the cook handle food without gloves or a head covering as he had very long hair. Bartender was generally attentive and polite so no issue with the service aspect. Food plus 1 wine and 3 beers came to roughly $50 so value would be there just wished the burger was better. Many better options so guess I won't become a Bennies regular! read more

Good but tiny portions. No desserts. So when the waitress says anything else i guess she means do you want another meal? The chicken kebob was one kebob, 2 cubes of chicken. Good place to eat if you aren't hungry. read more

Grilled Wings The place isn't much to look at from the outside being in an older strip mall. Not that much to look at when you get inside either - after all it is a neighborhood bar that serves food. There is a line of booths on the right when you walk in. On the other side of the divider is a bar with TVs featuring sports and Keno. The menu is basic comfort food. Prices are reasonable. This was my second visit and my son's first. We ordered up two of the burger specials - large juicy patty hanging over the bun, topped with thick cut bacon and blue cheese. Lettuce, tomato and onion was served on the side. It was accompanied by a small bag of chips and a pickle spear. I also ordered the soup of the day - Italian Wedding. Quiet hole in the wall local bar and grill. Its a nice little place to go for some inexpensive delicious eats. Its been here far longer then most of the up and coming so decor is not a top priority. You come here because the grilled wings are some of the best. They have great burgers and the prices are super reasonable. You can grab a beer and make friends with the regulars. Everyone that works there is friendly. We come here when we are looking to grab a quick bite and maybe stick around for a beer or two. They make popcorn so can grab a bowl of that. Another honorable mention is their clam chowder and their lobster roll- try those! read more

Love Bennies! The grilled wings are delish, the vinaigrette is tasty, they'll serve you bunless burgers like no big deal and the staff is friendly. It's a little divey but has everything else going for it. I especially like Bennie's cause they're the first place to give us a discount when we order a burger without the bun (we're low-carb'n it). read more

Bennie's is a great low-key restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious meal/drink and most likely make a new local friend who will tell you entertaining stories. Bennie's is one of those places that you go back to because the atmosphere is always inviting and welcoming. The food is prepared fresh and is made-to-order which is often hard to find in a small place like this. The menu changes fairly often and there are plenty of healthy options for those of you looking for a lighter meal (I highly recommend the steak tip salad). The daily specials list is long and you can always find your homestyle favorites on it which never disappoint. The staff is excellent. The bartenders and waitresses get to know their customers which is clear as you watch them engage in conversation with almost everyone that walks in the door. (The hugs are free.) They are attentive and always have a good recommendation if you aren't sure exactly what you are in the mood for. The 'icing on the cake' with Bennie's is the cost. You can safely enjoy a few drinks and a great meal without worrying about the steep cost that is usually associated with a night out. Bennie's is equipped with several TV's for the sports fans out there, and you can be assured that there are always some good tunes on to enjoy while playing a few games of Keno. I recommend Bennie's to everyone, young and old. There aren't many places like this around anymore, so stop in and check it out! read more

We love Bennies. It is admittedly an older crowd but that is nice for a local haunt when you are no longer 25! The food is fresh, homemade and a great value!! No frills but friendly, well priced and comfortable for a visit any time. Yes popcorn is hot fresh and free and you can play Keno. Fun spot! read more

Don't let the appearance intimidate you. The people are friendly and they make one hell of a lobster roll. (Yes, get the lobster roll!) The roast beef is also great. They have all your standard pub fare, but the aforementioned meals are my go tos. Prices are excellent! It is a bit of a dive, a little dark and dreary, but the friendly people make up for it. It is a solid four as far as secret dive gem, but calling it a "cafe" is a bit of a stretch. read more

**Edit** Had a lovely talk with the owner from Bennie's today. I am editing my review to reflect my experience that I had up until the unfortunate event. Apparently he was told different information as to what happened than what actually transpired, which doesn't surprise me & was the reason that I had written the review in the first place. He seems like a caring owner & I am glad that we were able to connect. We will try Bennie's again. I will again get the shrimp, because that was wonderful & they do pour a nice cocktail. (just don't charge me for more than I consume, ha ha) Well, living in the Burncoat area the last 10 years, this was my first trip here. We had tried before but the parking lot was packed. I have family that has worked there, friends that have worked there and family that frequents. Started out okayish. We (4) sat at a table and were waited on about 7 min after we sat down. By Leslie. That wasn't an issue, it's 745 on a Saturday night. We ordered drinks and all was well. Ordered dinner. I had spinach salad with shrimp & my shrimp were awesome. Salad, normal. Great for the price. My fiancé had a steak and cheese sandwich. He had wished it came with fries because it wasn't a ton of food but for the price, again, totally good. Our friends ordered seafood chowder and steak tips over Caesar salad. The chowder was gush worthy, steak was tough. We each had 3 drinks and ate some more popcorn as we waited til our keno games were over. Then we waited and waited for our bill. When we got it, it was so wrong. Now to the fun part. I saw the bill and it was a lot more than I thought it should be. $140. Our meals were about $35 combined. We each had 3 drinks. 6 mixed and 6 beers. So I looked on the tab (they don't have a POS system) and she has tick marks next to each of our drinks. Next to mine she had 4, my fiancé, 4 - our friends, 6 and 5. We each had 3. So we asked her about it and I told her that we only had 3 drinks each and she immediately became argumentative. She said no we definitely had more than 3. Ironic cause she wasn't around much. Our friend was drinking corona lights and she charged him for 6, twice as many. So she snapped at him and said, you are the are only one drinking this I am checking the GARBAGE. 5 minutes later she comes over and puts 3 bottles of corona light FROM THE GARBAGE on the table. And she's like, see? She charged him for 6 and there were only 4 accounted for (including the one he had in his hand) so it proved that the entire day only 4 Corona Lights were sold - yet she charged just him for 6. We said we weren't paying for items we did not consume and asked to speak to the manager. Guess who was acting manager? So she apparently called the owner. Walked passed us all dramatically on the phone with them. Dropped a new bill on the table for $101. Told us that the owner told us to pay and get out and we were never allowed back. Fine, we told her. She yelled back from another table that they have video of it so they will know our faces and I said, good so you will know how many drinks we had. She yelled back, yeah we will. I have NEVER been spoken to at a restaurant like that. We are locals. We frequent the Draughthouse and Finders & I will NEVER give this establishment my money again. It's unfortunate because I thought their menu was decent and I like keno. Leslie missed out on a $22 tip and Bennie's is missing out on weekly trips by 4 grown adults that she spoke to like children. Worst thing, the table she was yelling at us from at the end had customers of one of my friends. Who knows what that fall out would be. If the owner did tell us we can never come back, he doesn't have to worry about that. I stay faithful to neighborhood spots that treat us well. I hope to God there is a video so they can see we were right. Like I said, I have friends that have worked there & was told that this was not the first time that this has happened with bills. If you don't want to turn away faithful customers, get a POS system. Also, perhaps teach your servers that they should not yell at patrons, humiliate them and place things from the trash on tables. read more

This is my favorite bar within walking distance of where I live. The bartenders are friendly and attentive. I appreciate that they have Downeast Cider. Prices are excellent. It's food that I could make in my own kitchen if I wasn't so lazy. My fellow customers are way less hipster than those at my usual haunts. There are a bunch of TVs at the bar if you're into watching sports. The bathroom situation is magnificent. read more

I used to come here frequently with my dad growing up to get the London broil. It couldn't be beat. That said, the ragged waitstaff is no longer friendly or caring. Food is mostly microwaved, only reason for the second star is the Friday lobster rolls, but I probably won't be back for it. Last time I was there I ordered the clam chowder. After watching our waitress open the sealed plastic bag from the fridge, put it in a bowl, and microwave it, it came out ice cold. We sent it back twice, twice it came back cold, so we gave up and left. read more

Came here tonight and sat there for about ten minutes, Assuming we were last minute we wanted to ask what time the kitchen was open until. After being ignored we decided to leave. What an awkward experience ha I am leaving two stars because we didn't even get to try the food but honestly the stained wrinkly Saturday night special didn't look to kickin anyway. I have been coming here for several years. The food and service were always on par for the pricing. Recently when we were getting ready to leave we requested the bill from Leslie. I usually know about what it should be. It was higher than I expected. I asked about it and it turns out I was charged for 4 drinks instead of 2. I thought no big deal, everyone makes mistakes. All of a sudden it was like I was in the twilight zone. She was yelling at me like I was 3 telling me the bill was correct. I paid it and left, it was not worth an embarrassing scene for 10 bucks. We know a lot of the people who are regulars there and we were mortified at how we were treated in front of them. We considered ourselves regulars, 2-3 times a week. I talked to a few people and was told this was not the first time this waitress has padded a bill, presumably to get a tip on the larger amount. We no longer go there, there are so many good places in the neighborhood that actually appreciate your business. Very sad read more

Ate at Bennies for the first (and last) time yesterday. Service (especially) and food were just awful. Waitress was unattentive and had a bad attitude. Asked her for advise on the specials. Her response was a stark "order what you like". Ordered a ham diner. It came and the ham was loaded with fat. Called her over and advised her of it. She seemed upset but did offer to replace it (probably house policy because I'm sure it's not a rare occurrence that meals here get sent back). She came back and just about threw the chicken pot pie at me and that's the last I saw or heard from her during the meal. Chicken pot pie was almost as bad as the ham. Waited about 10 minutes after I finished and she came and delivered the bill. Left the money for the bill and tip. Before I walked 5 steps to the door she came swooping over like a vulcher and grabbed the money like she was destitute. End of the sad story. read more
