Cody, aka Tom Holland, aka young George Clooney, was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The food is always good at Scruffy Murphy's. Great specials, great prices and yummy food. On my recent visit, it was Cody that made me and my boyfriend's stay so wonderful. First, I don't like to have to ask for ANYTHING. I don't want to ask for menus, I don't want to ask for another drink, I don't want to ask for extra napkins, I don't want to have to ask for a box, my tab or anything. I don't like to ask because servers have acted like they were annoyed in the past. Cory EXCEEDED my expectations for this. It's like he has a sixth sense. I had a couple questions about the sauces for the chicken tenders and he immediately offered to bring two sauces. Thank you. We love the golden bbq (I think that is the name). He also brought buffalo sauce, ranch and blue cheese. We mixed and matched for every bite we had. We had the chicken parm special for dinner. He finished his (NEVER happens unless it's too good to stop). I took mine home and it was just as good the next day. The garlic bread was very garlicky flavored. Yes, some restaurants serve bread with a dash of garlic powder and call it garlic bread. I think the tomato sauce is home made. It was nice and thick with flavor. I don't like a watery sauce. We also played KENO and won $58215222 and I'm sure it's because of Cody. OK, we didn't win KENO but always have fun playing. Thank you, Cody, for a great experience! Stopped by Scruffy Murphy's Worcester after landing at Worcester airport, & I was excited to try their $21.99 lobster roll. We began with mozzarella sticks, which were a great value. I paired my lobster roll with sweet potato fries, while he opted for the $16.99 fried captain platter. Based on the other Yelp reviews, it looks like people either love or hate this place. I'm giving it 5 stars and have been here 3-4 times. Atmosphere... it's divey, in a good way! This is where the locals go and it feels like the Worcester version of Cheers. There are always people of all ages here. It's relaxed, not too loud. Tonight there was a great 90s music playlist on. There are bar seats, booths, high tops. Plenty of TVs if you want to watch sports. I have never had issues with staff or service. My waitress tonight smiled plenty and the food came out quickly even though the restaurant was full. She did everything right, was attentive and polite. My son ordered the NY Strip steak. The thing was huge and would have likely cost $40 elsewhere. Here? $18. I got the lettuce wraps which are technically an appetizer but the portion is big enough for a meal. Myself and two other people went to scruffy Murphy's tonight we ordered three appetizers, a boneless buffalo wing ,cheese pizza sticks, and spinach artichoke dip, two salad salads, two burgers and a fish and chips. The boneless buffalo wings were average. Nothing wrong with those. The pizza breadsticks were good. However, things took a turn with the spinach and artichoke dip. All three people at the table, tried one chip with dip on it, and the artichoke dip was clearly sour and gone bad when brought up to management we were told too much was eaten they couldn't do anything about it. Salad salads were both good. Pretty hard to go wrong there. Fish and chip was average. Then we get to the burgers both burgers were ordered, medium rare and came out well done nobody made any complaints about him just ate them. However, when the bill came, they expected me to pay for an appetizer that was clearly expired. No manager ever came over the poor kid waiting the table had to deal with it. This is the place. We have been too many times before, but will not be going back. I would not recommend this place. read more

I've loved this place from their opening. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I especially enjoy their burgers, and the roast turkey dinner is awesome. I must say I absolutely love the fish and chips, the prime rib special is one of the best in town. The atmosphere is sort of modern pub style. Tall tables near the bar, comfortable booths, and tables over by the walls can be pushed together to accommodate most any sized party. We went for the first time today for lunch and it was great! I got fried fish and swapped out the fries for asparagus (up charge of $3), no big deal and it was delicious. Husband got Chicken Broccoli Alfredo and enjoyed that, too! Service was quick and friendly. We'll be coming back! read more

Food: I got the chicken Cobb salad, which was pretty plentiful. The vegetables were fresh and crunchy however, the chicken kinda looks like those grilled chicken strips that you get in the frozen section. It's edible but kind of cold and kind of fake tasty. It's also pretty inexpensive to eat here as they have their $9.99 deal going on on Mondays. Service: our server made sure we got everything, would have appreciated a bit more attentiveness, but still fine. Food and service was good and would only return for those reasons. This is a standard American sports bar with nothing resembling or anything near to 'Irish'. Just because a place serves and you personally drink Guinness, Smithwicks (don't say the W), Jameson, or Murphy's doesn't make you or any place Irish. Also, adding Irish to a menu item doesn't make it Irish either. FYI: Shepherds look after sheep... so to call something Shepherds Pie when made with beef is completely wrong - 'Cottage Pie' is made with Beef and Shepherds Pie with Lamb, but wouldn't expect Americans to know this but certainly would for a supposed Irish owner. Lastly, please don't ever call yourself "Irish" and especially "Irish-American", because it sounds dumb to those from across the pond. Same story. Just not friendly! Would it kill these girls to smile, check on your meal and come ask if you want a 2nd beer? I can't imagine how long you have to wait for a beer if the place is busy. Scruffy Murphy's for the win! We came on a Wednesday with my family and it was a great ambiance. Live music and you cannot beat the food prices. My tuna melt was delicious and my parents shared their Wednesday special of fajitas for $12.99. There was so much food that it was more than enough for both of them. The smash and burger was a favorite for my boyfriend as well. This is a very good option if you are looking for some bar food and a fun night. Our waiter was great and attentive. So let's have a rant Earlier this evening I go to meet up my son at Scruffy Muphy's Worcester I sit down at the bar The very polite bartender asks me if I had another person coming. I said yes. He asks if I want 2 menus I said definitely my son is on his way The said bartender brings out 2 set ups and two menus and I order a drink Five minutes go by and my son attempts to sit down in his seat with the menu and setups next to me Suddenly the other Bartender/Manager Steve comes up and tells my son that he can not sit there that the seat is reserved (said son is 25) I then politely said that I was saving that seat for my son.....hence the menus and set ups on the bar Said manager Steve then goes into a tirade about how he is not sitting there and that he doesn't care that the said chair was already set up for a guest My son then suggests that he grab a chair from another table and then the so said Manager Steve then physically pulls the chair that my son is sitting in away from him BTW this is all on their video At this point I try to explain that I have been becoming to said restaurant for 5 years and that I have been a loyal customer Then the Manger/Beer pourerfor life tells me that we haven't been open for 5 years Hmmm 2024 minus 2019 equals 5 I then attempted to apologize to the beer pourer for getting upset. My family has enjoyed going to this restaurant perhaps three or four times the food is not anything fabulous but decent and reasonable pricing in the server is usually super friendly however we went there on Tuesday for their all you can eat tacos it was one of the worst meals I have ever had out there were so many issues with our dining experience The most frustrating part is I have been trying to get a hold of the manager of the restaurant to let him know of his restaurant and I'm most unpleasant experience we had on Tuesday however even finding this managers phone number anywhere is difficult I've had to call four times finally I got a person to speak with me However she said there's no manager here he may be in on Friday I was about to hang up didn't tell me his name was not helpful at all so not happy at all ... If I'm not able to get the manager on the phone tomorrow I will give more details and specifics as to why it was awful and will never go back there again Unless of course this MIA manager speaks with me and is apologetic and reimburse us for food that should not have been served to us completely unacceptable...And subpar across-the-board who's ever cooking and managing that place needs to resign resolve read more
