This is my second time back to the new "Barn" while I'm visiting home and have really enjoyed both experiences. The owner, who you may meet at the entry, has turned this into a warm and welcoming small town restaurant with an upscale menu. Lots of options to fit any pallet too. Our go to restaurant, we love this place! Food is always amazing, great drinks and service is exceptional. They have a rotating seasonal menu which keeps things fresh and interesting. We ordered takeout Nashville Chicken sandwich and Fried Chicken Sammie. The Nashville sandwich was not good. The coating was dark brown and too thick and flavorless. The Fried Chicken Sammie was a little better per my husband. The Onion rings were hard as rocks and they used red onion for some reason flavorless. We will try the hamburgers with the remainder of our gift certificate.... We will see how that goes. read more

The place was crowded but first come first serve in the bar area. We sat and enjoyed a drink while we shared a table with others. Their food looked so delicious we decided to order. The beer selection was good and the Bees Knees cocktail was delish. The bartender was on her game servicing the entire bar area plus the bar. She was impressive! The restaurant is under a new owner that was very social and welcoming. The only problem was an added tip on our bill after we had left and we had given the bar tender a generous cash tip. The restaurant owner answered our email that same evening and rectified the matter stating it was "accidental." We will return but know to pay attention to the tab! read more

The Barn reopened 3-4 weeks ago after the former "Mountain Barn" had closed. The place was packed for a Thursday night. There are many seating options - there is a large dining room with a bar, and a smaller front bar with high top tables. There is also upstairs seating where you could enjoy a drink and play pool. The food menu, although somewhat limited, had something for everyone. All meals that passed by looked amazing - I saw burgers and chicken sandwiches that looked HUGE! I opted with a salad with steak and a side of onion rings for a little indulgence. Good drink options as well. The vibe of the restaurant was great - happy employees, relaxed patrons. This will be a great spot in the summer to enjoy the patio & outdoor views, and a great spot in the winter for those who ski at Wachusett Mountain. I'll be back! read more

I was excited to visit the new "Barn" We were greeted with a smile and our server Nadia was wonderful. We started off with a Caesar salad. We noticed the leaves were brown most of the edges different than any Caesar salad I've ever had. We question the server and she brought it to the chef who told her that it was raised in Iron soil and that was the reason for the brown leaves. Really? I've never heard of this before. Good this, salad was discounted. Needless to say I didn't feel too comfortable eating it. See my picture in this post for reference. Next was our entrée. I ordered chicken Gyro with truffle fries. The truffle fries very different than any that I've had in the past. They were served hot which is wonderful, however the flavor like the truffle taste. Moving on, the Gyro was OK. Nothing special. I had to ask for more Taziki sauce. There was very little served. I wanted to say a lot of good things about this place. I was very excited. However, my bubble was busted. read more

They say third time is a charm, I was really hoping it would be. Went to listen to some music there and sadly trying to get a drink was nearly impossible. Two bartenders on the bar, one girl with tattoos who was so darn miserable and doesn't make eye contact, this allows her to purposely skip over patrons she doesn't want to wait on. The other one was a guy who seemed completely frazzled and clueless. First drink order took over 15 min and the second one even longer. I couldn't even get their attention to pay my bill and would have just estimated the total and handed them cash, but the prices aren't listed on the folded drink list. Not sure if they need extra bar help or if they just need additional training on how to treat a customer. read more

I regrettably have no pictures, but The Barn is fantastic. We got the peach panzanella salad to share. I couldn't believe my bf 1) suggested it 2) ate almost more than half - he's not a salad guy. We do think it was nectarines but tomato/tomahto I guess. Our waitress was fantastic in her suggestions and stopped me from almost stupidly ordering the special spring scallops that had hazelnut in the sauce. I got the braised short rib and my bf got the steak and mash - both were absolutely delicious. Drinks were also different and well balanced. I got a coconut mojito that was to die for, he got a rum mint daiquiri that was also very good. I finished my dinner with an espresso martini and my bf was GOING to finish his with a woodford old fashioned. I am INCREDIBLY GLAD - because this would have definitely lost them a point - that the bartender and our waitress warned us that it would be $21!!! Good on them because that is utterly ridiculous and would have left us with a bad taste in our mouths. Overall I would absolutely recommend The Barn and I love that they have a seasonal menu so there's always something new to try! We will be back :) read more

Awesome restaurant- food and drinks are fantastic and fresh, service is always solid. The ambiance is cozy and warm. From a food and drink standpoint, definitely a 5 star place. From an experience standpoint, the fact that they don't take reservations makes them a 4. Given their location in the middle of nowhere and how busy they usually are on weekend nights, you're put in the position of either waiting forever for a table or trekking back out to go somewhere else in the area. If they had a reservation system this would 100% be our go-to place, but we often end up opting for somewhere else on date nights simply because we are usually in a time crunch and can't guarantee a table. Note to management: you're running an amazing restaurant! Please consider open table or similar to help make it easy for those of us who want to plan our dinners there. read more

Good spot for dinner, not a high end place but they know how to cook. We started with the squash hummus which I initially thought wouldn't be good because it contained a large mound of craisins....the craisins blended amazingly well with the sharpness of the feta and the fresh flavor of that hummus. My GF had the white bean chicken chili which I ended up sharing and it was absolutely delicious. It was perfect in every respect. We decided to split two entrees so that we could try more of the menu. The cod was one of the best cod dishes I've ever had, the fish was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. The ginger carrot purée was the perfect accompaniment. The squash coconut curry was well made we just weren't feeling it, it needed some citrus or spiciness to liven it up. Stephanie was our waitress (although truthfully I just adored everyone!) and she took excellent care of us. Killer seasonal menu -- butternut and Boursin arancini, maple gochujang tenders, and a lovely, perfectly rare seared tuna with a ginger aioli. Still need to come back for the s'mores pie but the pumpkin vanilla cheesecake was the perfect end to the meal -- I love a graham cracker crust. They have an outstanding bar program, and the specials -- The Barn Sour, Cherry Cobbler, and Crystal Ball were all immaculate. Stoked to come back for their burger!! We chose The Barn to celebrate our 41st wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. From the wonderful hostess to the friendly waitstaff this place is top notch. So many choices we wanted to try on the menu. We settled on the calamari to start. Perfectly cooked along side some spicy banana peppers, the two dipping sauces were a nice compliment to the delicately fried calamari. The Barn does seasonal menus and uses locally grown food for the farm to table experience. As this is tomato season, their specials were tomato based. I opted for the fish stew. (see picture). This was an explosion of taste from the sweet tomatoes, briny fish, and hearty potatoes eggplant and onions. My husband chose the Bolognese and he said it was spectacular. Of course when celebrating you have to have dessert and the orange olive oil cake was a show stopper (see other picture). The hostess was so kind and brought us over 2 complimentary flutes of champagne to go along with our sweet endings. We had a great time. But The Barn isn't just for fancy occasions. They have a great burger and hand held selection if you want to come for a more casual meal. Highly recommend. We will be back! read more

Our first visit to The Barn. Greeted by friendly staff and promptly seated. We arrived early and there were only two of us. Nice offering of specialty cocktails. The menu had lots of nice options such as burgers, salads, grain bowls and entrees. Our server was friendly and attentive. I enjoyed my Chicken Milanese with delicious mushrooms ravioli. I grew up around here, and after recently moving back after living in Los Angeles for 8 years, I noticed all the restaurants around here serve a variation of the same mush American food. This place is anything BUT that. The drinks are top notch, same with the apps and food. I highly recommend the green tea gimlet, braised short rib, beets and burrata, and the PEI mussels. Everything is fresh and local, service was amazing, and for the quality, this place is affordable. The place does fill up quick for dinner, so practicing a little patience will go a long way. It's so worth it, plus there's a bar you can wait in. I really hope this place survives! read more

We really enjoyed our dinner experience last night. We had a party of 11, and everyone was happy with their meals. Our waitress was delightful. She recommended the short rib poutine and it was delicious. We tried both burgers and they were also great. We had an old fashion and the spicy margarita, both were fabulous. The restaurant has a cute updated decor and it is a relaxing place for gathering. We enjoyed the view, but the sun was setting and a bit blinding through the shade for a short period. We had a $50.00 Gift card , had $8.56 change left on it, we gave it to a couple at the table across from us on our way out,Because we will not be back. My wife and children went on a Sunday at 8 after seeing they were open until 9. They turned us away and said the kitchen closes at 7:45. After looking, their website states that they are open until 9 but seating in the dining room stops at 7:30. It's pretty misleading to be open until 9 but stop seating people at 7:30. read more

i love the improvements and new style of the barn. it still has the homey warm feel that i remember from when i was a kid, but updated and chic. the owners are always around and involved, making sure this are top notch. the new menu is really amazing, seasonally inspired and always fresh! that goes for the drinks as well. the cocktails are delish and the craft beers offer something for everyone! 100% recommend you give it a go read more

Ok first time here since the remake. A lot of upgrades I noticed but pretty much the same set up Saturday night I live in town so I called to see if there was a wait I was told yes but could sit at the bar so off I went around 5 :15 I arrived and was greeted by a nice gentleman showed me the way to the bar I sat and ordered pretty quickly just a Diet Coke the Korean sticky wings for and app and the steak and mashed. 45 minutes later just the Diet Coke came my way. It was fairly busy so. ... about an hour later my wings come. They were ok I got boneless they were sorta dry after eating them I sat another 15 minutes and asked for my order to go. It was loud and above me there was some people in the loft. I just didn't feel like eating under them that's me. So about 10/12 minutes later my bag arrived I payed and went home. The steak was very fatty the mashed were really good as were the carrots I'll try again when I have more time All in all not bad I rarely give bad reviews nor do I give 5 stars unless I'm blown away. I wasn't at this establishment. This is the only place in town so they will do great either way. This day and age the cost of dining out. Everything should be top notch. read more

My family went to the barn on 7/11/24 we had a 40 minute wait not that bad but when we stood at the bar waiting for service the bar tender sat and take to so patron for 10 minutes and the bar was packed she finally came over and waited on us after getting drinks we sat on the patio it was nice we got seated then it took another 10 minute to get a waitress to our table we placed our app order and our dinner order we also had a dinner to go we ordered at the same time the app came out 15 minutes later we had the Korean wings they were good after the app we didn't see our waitress for a long time it took at least 45 minutes to get our meal my wife ordered a salad with shrimp they didn't have any dressing on it the croutons were flavor less and seamed to be old my burger had no flavor and the bun was very dry my daughter had the scallops she said they were very good when it came time to leave we asked the waitress for our to go order and she forgot to put it in we were told it would be 15 more minutes then 5 minutes later she came over to our table nd said it would be 25 more minutes so need less to say we had them take the to go order off the bill I don't think we will ever go back sub par food and bad service read more

Our dining experience was incredible - the menu is somewhat limited but the variety of offerings is sure to please everyone. Was very excited to try... there was no greeting from host, very odd. We waited 30 minutes for a waitress to come take drink orders and then Another 20 minutes until the drinks actually came. When we were able to finally place our food orders, it took forever to finally come. The food came back and was very disappointing. The Menu is misleading- food was way over salted, not cooked properly. Waitress never came to check on table, and professionalism was sub par (waitress + owner). Wish it was a different experience- hopefully they can work on the timing/ food experience. read more
