Very overpriced food for TINY portion sizes. If your looking to spend $17 on a single piece of rock hard toast with a thin layer of burrata half an avocado and a few pieces of pickled onion/radish - this is the place for you. The short rib hash was incredibly salty and almost inedible - $19 for a singular egg and i think ten roasted potatoes in total. Everyday breakfast was - two fried eggs, 7 maybe 8 pieces of roasted potatoes, and two pieces of bacon for $15. That. Is. Insane. No matter how fresh/ locally sourced/ organic the ingredients are the prices are outrageous for the portions AND quality/taste of the food. Need to rework the menu prices or get a new chef if you want to keep your prices at this level. Service is also slow and inattentive - skip this place there are many other great breakfast spots close by and you wont leave them hungry. read more

Our plan was to dine in but they were full. The menu is reduced on the weekends, so we didn't get to try what we wanted being our 1st time there.. The food was good but they charge an "automatic gratuity" for take out. I was told it was for the cooks to get paid. This should be the restaurants responsibility and built into the pricing. Gratuity should be ask not automatically charged, especially for take out. So i basically got charged for seating and food not being available. Please look out for this they will not even mention this and just take your money. I will always tip for a good experience and service but getting my money taken without permission is not what hospitality is about. It takes stones to open a restaurant during this lockdown. Well, SK is hitting homeruns with their carry out menu. I decided to try their Chicken and Biscuit sandwich. Crispy buttermilk fried chicken with creamy pimiento cheese and crunchy pickled red onions on a ranch biscuit (their description). This was not tiny. A HUGE biscuit with perfectly fried chicken. The condiments were just enough and did not overpower the sandwich. This was served with a bag of local sourced kettle chips. I ran into my neighbor who was picking up her smoked chicken Caesar salad, which she swears by. All in all I was pleased with the sandwich. Well worth the $13 I paid. This place was great! We tried the family fried chicken Friday meal and it was delicious. The friend chicken had a few extra ingredients to it to give it a little bit more flavor, YUM. The owner Danielle was extremely kind with me in the phone and was very accommodating to me. We also got a surprise scone topped with Strawberry icing for just moving into the area, SUPER SWEET OF HER! I like places that go the extra mile and this place surely did. The chicken, potatoes and broccoli and cauliflower was to die for! Also all the ingredients were locally sourced and that means a ton to me and my family! I dined here for the first time about 2 hours ago(had brunch)--I LOVE this place! I arrived at about 1:45 on a Sunday afternoon; the place was packed to the rafters but I got seated in a minute or 2 outside! The menu/food is amazing! I started out with the Ossetra Caviar(the beignets that accompanied them were incredibly fresh, warm/pillowy soft, and went great with the caviar)! Then I had the Short Rib Hash with a sunny side up egg--that was incredibly delicious too--so hearty and flavorful! For drinks I had their champagne special cocktail, 2 pots of Earl Grey Tea, and this fantastic Rose Cardamom Latte which had in it, macadamia milk and espresso! The service was awesome too; my server Stephanie was super-friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and efficient! I also loved how the restaurant's awesomely friendly, engaging and personable GM, Amie, checked in on little ol' me to ensure everything was all right! (Awwww!) It's always nice to find an "out of the box" dining experience- Scratchboard Kitchen in no exception to this. As I walked to the back of the restaurant I passed the kitchen and couldn't help but slow down a few paces to take everything in. Scones, Tarts, and other baked goods lined the counter between myself and the handful of chefs/bakers/helpers working meticulously in the kitchen. After being seated I needed more than just a few minutes to go through the menu and even longer to make a decision. Everything had its own fresh twist so no matter you're selection it will be something new, fresh, and (almost guaranteed) delicious. For example, a chicken biscuit sandwich doesn't sound anything too out of the ordinary. But from the buttery made-from-scratch biscuits to the cheesy pimiento spread - it exceeded my expectations and then some. I can go on about the few other dishes I tried but they will all read the same... Moral of the story - Scratchboard Kitchen is a must-try and I hope it stays open for a long time. I was so excited to eat here, what a disappointment. I ordered the home made biscuit egg sandwich after the server recommended it. My friend ordered the grilled cheese. The egg sandwich was presented with nothing else on the plate. Just sandwich. No garnish, nothing . The "homemade biscuit" was hard, stale like. My friend took off all the crusts on her sandwich. We also had 2 ice teas. The total was $42. Not including tip. The meal was edible. I can't recommend nor will I return. read more

I've been here twice. We had breakfast at Scratchboard on a recent Saturday. We shared the funfetti scone, and for meals ordered the breakfast sandwich, quinoa grain bowl, and chicken sandwich. The biscuits are impressive as was the vanilla latte. The breakfast sandwich concept is great but there's no seasoning in the eggs. It's surprising coming from a place and chef with the pedigree this one has. The bacon was soggy. Just not well put together. Others liked their dishes but didn't rave. The second time I went back solo for a take out vanilla latte which came to $5.60. I paid with a $10 bill and the hostess went to get change. She came back with $4 and said she didn't have change and asked if that was okay. On the spot, I said yes but as I left and thought about it, that should have been handled better. I could have declined to take it but she should have offered me a $5 or asked for another form of payment. Why would they choose to short the customer if they can't make change? It's only 40 cents but that's not the point. I doubt I'll visit there again. It's too expensive to go out and not get something you can't make at home plus have mediocre service. read more

But nope... we finally ordered carry out, but was not impressed. the biscuit with egg & bacon was tough (not at all melt in your mouth biscuit that I had hoped), the "egg" was a disc of rubbery egg-like substance. Sorry, but maybe I missed that in the description. The kids Mac & cheese with butternut squash was mushy and lacked any squash that I could see or taste. Salty and nothing special. The Grain Bowl was good. But nothing worth going back for. I will try them again, because I want them to succeed. But will rethink what I order. read more

Was there with a noon reservation on Wednesday, August 9. My financial advisor and I were having a lunch meeting. At 12:30 the manager/hostess came over and asked us to order because she had a 45 minute wait for tables. There were 2 tables open in our front room and the back room was almost empty. Granted, the patio was full but we saw no one waiting for a table. Her tone was rude and she asked again how long until we were going to order? I said 5 minutes and she walked away. We ordered and it took 25 minutes to get a bowl of yogurt with fruit and a chicken sandwich. The chicken on my sandwich was smaller than a chicken tender and the biscuit it was on was dry and twice the size of the chicken. I was super disappointed and had eaten here 3 times before. We LOVE going to Scratchboard Kitchen for breakfast and have been since Passero moved down the street and Scratchboard moved in. Their food is a great way to start the day! I love that the menu here is constantly changing with the seasons; I swear every time we come here there's something new to try that makes the breakfast experience fresh and exciting. Regardless of what it's flavored to be, the scone and the pop tart are a must when we visit. These are great to share between two people unless you're sweet obsessed, then you'll probably want your own. For our main plate, we really enjoy the biscuit sandwich (your traditional breakfast sandwich), the lox on toast, and the fried chicken biscuit sandwich. I visited Scratchboard for the first time, and had a wonderful experience! The food was fantastic, the drinks were even better, and the atmosphere was cool, too. My mom and I used their reservation option on their website, which was very easy, and they are very accommodating to vegetarians! They had beyond sausage to substitute onto the breakfast sandwich, but it was so small we completely missed it and let our waitress know. Before they delivered another sausage, we found it hidden in the sandwich, but the second sausage actually made it the correct proportion of sausage to sandwich, so it all worked out. The biscuit in the sandwich was definitely the standout. The truffle grilled cheese was delicious, and the brûlée grapefruit was interesting! The potatoes were pretty good, too. The drinks I had, the champagne smash and drunken earl were both delicious! And my mom was pleasantly surprised with just how good the rose cardamom latte was- the cardamom was very present and was the perfect temperature. We will make sure to stop by again sometime! But maybe not too often, since our wallets aren't quite that deep, lol. read more

They have the BEST baked goods and are constantly changing the flavors to keep us coming back for more! My dad is gluten intolerant and they have AMAZING GF options (& the best GF biscuits he's ever had). I've gone back at least once a week and can say I am officially ~obsessed~!! I'm a small woman and do not eat a lot, but these portions are incredibly chintzy. My husbands chicken sandwich came on a small biscuit. Took my friends here to celebrate their engagement. Our avocado and lox toast entrees were just okay, nothing special other than presentation, that would warrant a $17 price for each entree. While the toast slices were heaping with lox and avocado, the toasts were so "tough" that we required steak knives instead of butter knives. And the egg served on the side with the avocado toast was somewhat cold. We enjoyed our unsweetened iced teas but all in all the $48 total price was way over-priced, even for locally sourced food. I've eaten at other farm-to-table restaurants and looked forward to returning...not feeling this way about Scratchboard. The staff and al fresco dining were the highlights of our lunch. When I asked about ordering a breakfast sandwich she stated "as I just told you; you can only order pickup per what's on the online menu. You cannot place the order over the phone." Love this place for brunch! I've been twice and loved the food and service both times. I started with the rose cardamom latte (equally beautiful and delightful) and the scone of the day. Their pastries are not to be skipped!! Today it was a blueberry scone with cinnamon mascarpone topping and it was huge -- plenty to split between the 4 of us. Last time we got the pastry board so we split all 3 with my sister and her husband... each one was drool-worthy. For our meals, I got the truffle toast and my husband got the short rib hash -- both so delicious. My sister loved her biscuit sandwich too. They have lots of options for various diets and allergies. We came with my infant daughter and they kindly brought us a carrier for her car seat. We really appreciate the responsive, warm service. We love this place! read more
