Stopped by Scratch during lunch on a Friday and there were busy!! A couple of tables were empty, but there were still dirty plates and utensils left by the last people who sat there. I waited about 5 minutes for a table and while I was waiting for a table to be cleared off, I can tell that if they had a 3rd server on the floor, everyone would have been a little more satisfied. Aside from that, our food tasted good and very from scratch. One pointer would be not to wear nice clothing to this establishment because your clothing will smell like the kitchen afterwards. I believe the ventilation in kitchen was not the best and because it is an open kitchen, the smells of the restaurant traveled from the back of the kitchen to the dining area. One pet peeve of mine is smelling like food when I walk out of a restaurant and that is exactly what happened. read more

First off don't go by the pictures you see in determining that's what you want to order. They do specials and it may not be on the menus that day. As in my case, I was looking for pulled pork Mac n cheese and i missed by a week. To hungry to go anywhere else at the time I went with the chicken tacos. At first glance they looked a little dry but to my surprise they were not. Flour tortilla stuffed to capacity with chicken, cheese and pico! There was a greenish white sauce on top that was bursting with flavor that actually made the taco. I topped that off with some cayenne sauce and the rest was history. I asked for fries instead of tortilla chips and that was a great idea. Fresh cut fries cooked just how I like them. Crispy on the outside with delicious potato goodness on the inside. Service was great. Chef/owner greeted me and recommended the tacos. Brought my food and made sure I was good. Super pleasant server checked on me multiple times without being intrusive or pushy. The service here is quite slow, so if you're starving and want something fast, you probably should go to some fast food joint because you definitely can't rush beauty on a plate. They only had 2 servers on the floor while the place began to fill up. People sure do love this place because it got pretty busy at 8am on a Saturday morning. I was kind of disappointed with the service because our server kept ignoring me when I asked for hot sauce. I asked her 3 times but she either kept "forgetting" or "didn't hear me" even though she looked at me dead in the eyes and nodded. Another reason why customer service was a bit upsetting was because she served everyone else their food while one of my family members had to wait an extra 15 minutes before she was given her food. It would be nice if everyone's plate was served at the same time or at least within minutes of each other. Some items on their menu are amazing and others need some more seasoning. I had the country fried steak and added a side of eggs. This meal was outstanding!! The country fried steak was a little different than what I'm used to but the seasoning was perfect in every bite. The potatoes were different as well with a crispy outside and a deliciously moist center. The cornbread that was served with this meal was very bland and dry. It was very difficult for me to eat this because I felt like each bite sucked up all my saliva, which made it very difficult to swallow. The pudding French toast was delicious! It goes very well with the French press coffee. They went crazy with the blueberry toppings, but I'm definitely not mad. Everything about this dish was packed with flavor! The pulled pork burrito was impressively huge! I was hoping that this item was going to be my go to on the menu next time I come here, but it was completely bland. We asked for picante sauce, but unfortunately they didn't have it. Picante sauce taste amazing with any type of breakfast burrito so I was disappointed when they didn't have it. The french press coffee was definitely a nice touch. Even though the coffee smelled amazing, the coffee beans inside there wasn't above average. While on a work trip to Cleveland I decided to grab something better than the hotel breakfast. I saw some great reviews of Scratch and gave it a try. This location is so cute, but small. Clearly a favorite as there was a consistent wait for a table. I would say total the can seat approx 25 people at a time. I walked in and asked for a seat but the wait would be too long. I decided to order to go. Lucky me about 5 min later they had a cancellation and I was able to enjoy this massive and delicious burrito fresh. The server was super nice and accommodating. But back to this burrito....the pork shoulder on the inside was fresh, moist and well seasoned. The potatoes had a nice crispness to them , and the cheese sauce was so good I wanted more with some chips. I was only to eat half of this mammoth in my one sitting. All the other good I saw looked so good. The prices are very reasonable especially for the amount of food you get. If I'm back in the area I will be stopping here again. Foodie without being pretentious, it's way more interesting (and delicious) than your typical diner fare. And the portions are huge, so you get some bang for your buck. I went to cut it with my fork and leaned over to my friend and said "these biscuits seem dense, I can barely cut through them" and low and behold, there was a surprise sausage patty hiding out between the biscuits! The peppery, savory gravy is some of the best I've ever had. our wait may have been a little less than a half hour but man was it worth it! the young man helping us let us take a menu during our wait so by the time we sat down in this cute, quaint restaurant, we were ready to order! we saw that their portions were pretty big from previous pictures posted here, but also from walking by other tables. my boyfriend and i decided to split things (because i knew i wouldn't eat everything by myself, and we knew we were gonna come back to eat our way through the menu). by the time we ordered, it took maybe 10-15 minutes for our food to come out. it was hot and fresh and you can tell that they did not let it sit at all! i really liked that. the first thing we tried was the french toast and we were both pleasantly surprised! the bread pudding flavor with the blueberry compote on top, plus (what i assume to be) their homemade whipped cream!? i got hints of vanilla bean, sweet and slightly tart blueberries popped with every bite. the pork belly was the perfect crispy, salty, savory follow-up to some of the best french toast i've ever had. the compassion burrito is STUFFED with pulled pork, crispy potatoes, and fluffy scrambled eggs then topped with velvety queso and a deliciously flavorful salsa. i cannot say enough good things about this burrito. the potatoes maintained their crispy exterior even with the queso and salsa. the eggs were a pillowy texture switch from the crunch of the potato and the chew of the pulled pork. and that pulled pork?! oh my goodness!! it's savory, has a hint of salt, and is full of flavor! every later of this burrito was carefully crafted to deliver a delicious, very filling breakfast! also, with every order of a burrito, the restaurant donates a dollar to children living in poverty (hints the name). this is the best charity i've ever participated in lol! so good!! everything about this place has my boyfriend and i wanting to make it a weekend spot for the both of us. the service was fast, friendly and attentive. the food was some of my favorite of all the breakfast spots i've been to. we will definitely be back to eat our way through this menu! 10/10! read more
