I totally want these legs!!! So Wizard of Oz!

Great time, as always, at Slymans on our trips to Cleveland or Akron we always make time for a sammie. Usually we get the original corned beef sandwich each. Sadly we had a vigorous schedule so we shared one. They gifted us an extra pickle! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sat at the bar which was bustling![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a lively chat with our bartender about Italy. The to-go young lady was hustling! We only wish there was Slymans in Tampa! But I'd probably gain some weight, hehe If you love corned beef, this beats out that deli in NYC, which I won't name because some people are devoted fans of them. I always like the peirogi appetizer also, but we were in a hurry. As it was, the kitchen was just CRANKIN' out orders! Slymans? Never change, PULEEEEEEZZZZ!!!!

Slyman's has been a place we go to every time we're in town. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a variety of seating for small and large parties.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I enjoyed my fish and fries. The fish with lemon and tartar sauce were wonderful. I was disappointed to see that my coleslaw was inside a condiment container. My husband liked his light corn beef sandwich but I will say for the $16 price you shouldn't have to pay extra for the cheese, thousand island dressing, rye bread and toasted features that are a staple to this dish. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place used to be packed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The positive side Amanda was a great waitress that tended to all the tables here. She needs a raise! I know it's not a lot of people anymore but she was working it with a smile on her face doing her best to take care of all of us.

Mediocre at best. So disappointed in my Reuben sandwich. Today we had a group gathered for a special occasion luncheon. The chat among us was: "We should have gone to Simon's down the street for Reuben's". We won't be returning. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bland, overpriced and woman's bathroom was out of soap.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Friendly service even through the craziness of St Patrick's Day. LOVE their corn beef and now they have gluten free bread!! Not a fan of drinking wine out of a plastic glass but I suspect dishwasher was busy. Of course we'll be back.

    Little pickle that included.

This place is nothing like the one downtown. Honestly, they're giving the original location a bad look. I ordered a sandwich to go and it was so small. Me and my 10 year old son were going to split it - we didn't - because he was still hungry. Trust me, he doesn't eat that much. This location large corned beef sandwich looked like it was from the kid menu! Pretty much deceiving. Not happy. After paying $31 to DoorDash , never again. Ruining the downtown locations reputation. Don't bother. Go downtown this location sucks.

OH 02-2024 Slyman's Tavern in Independence near Cleveland Ohio, Tony and I had dinner. It is located in shopping center near our hotel. We were greeted and seated immediately. The waitress and hostess were both extremely nice. Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. We were escorted into the second room. Tony and I looked over the menu while she took our drink order of Halk cut Iced Tea with Lemon and PBR in a can. We went with the original Slyman's Corned Beef Light (which means baseball Size vrs regular which is softball size) with kraft, grilled onions and toasted bread! Awesome!!! I also ordered for us to share an order of pierogies and potato pancakes...oh everything was delicious and we shared it all!! The horseradish was fresh! Everything was delicious absolutely highly recommend and would eat here again!!! I wish I lived near by to eat here more often!!! The sides of applesauce was just large enough to tease me!!!

Stopped in to Slyman's on a friend's recommendation while taking a quick daytrip to Cleveland. We didn't realize the original location closed at 2:30pm but thankfully we checked before driving over and then were able to locate the Tavern location which was basically equidistant from where we already were. For our table of two adults and two toddlers we got a pastrami reuben, a corned beef dry, and then fried pickles to share. Everything tasted great and was freshly prepared. The dipping sauce for the pickles had a nice zip to it and the bark on the pastrami had a nice peppering. Our server was friendly and the waits for food were very reasonable. All-in-all a great experience and well worth stopping in for!

Knats on the bathroom wall :(

This place was mediocre. The service and people were great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience included knats, otherwise it would have been a great sports bar atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food: We ordered mushrooms, classic corned beef, fish sandwich, and potatoe pancakes. The corned beef was served cold, then was offered to put it in the microwave. The potatoe pancakes were bland, the most flavor came from the sour cream. On the other hand, the fish sandwich was really good and cooked well. The mushrooms were really good, but was a very small portion. The drinks: I had a peach sangria, which was delicious! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place clearly has a knat problem, which I found to be strange, in the middle of winter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My husband killed two while we were eating. Lo and behold, I go to the ladies room and spotted at least five of them. This was very disheartening. I don't live in the area, however, I definitely would not recommend.

I met a friend for breakfast this morning, and everything from start to finish was spot on. I ordered the Sweet Jalapeño Sandwich: an English muffin piled with jam, bacon, an egg cooked over medium, and cheddar, served with home fries. It was the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and just a little kick. My friend stuck with her usual: the Banana & Bourbon Caramel Bread Pudding French Toast, topped with fresh bananas and their homemade bourbon caramel sauce, plus a side of pork belly. It looked incredible and, according to her, tasted just as good as it always does. We arrived just a few minutes after they opened at 8:00 and were seated right away. The service was friendly, attentive, and very prompt without feeling rushed. Scratch has such a great casual, local diner feel, but with a menu that's anything but ordinary. The portions are generous, the flavors are unique, and the quality is consistently excellent. Definitely a go-to spot for breakfast or brunch...you really can't go wrong here.

The dish has plenty of chorizo, cheese, and a spicy crema sauce. The sauce was not too spicey. It packed a flavor punch and set the dish apart from others I had. The first course was complimentary breads with olive tapenade. The breads were so rustic and delicious. The olive tapenade was a great dipping sauce. For appetizer, I got fried calamari. It was a modern Italian twist. The fried calamari was so tender. It had light breading. It was fried together with olives, sun dried tomatoes, sliced shiitake mushrooms and some basils. It was so good that I kept eating it. For entrees, I got the bone-in CAB ribeye. It was cooked medium rare. The steak was juicy, tender and had a little bite to it. The asparagus was great in the dish. However, I was not too keen on crispy potatoes with Gorgonzola cheese. The cheese kinda made the potatoes a bit salty. I didn't enjoyed it at all. The beef short rib was another entree I tried as well. It was tender but the flavor was not deep and complex. Overall, the restaurant did a good job with the food. I would come back if I am ever in the area.

I don't drink anymore, so seeing a non alcoholic drink section was nice to see. I was made aware that the base of the Aplos was very herbal and tart. The first one brought to me was very tart. Very, very tart. I was not a fan, my dad was going to drink it, our waitress: Deja noticed and offered to have it remade. I accepted, the bartender came out to drop it off and explained how she changed it up. She stood by me and waited until I tried it. A bit much, it was better. The tartness was only at the end for a brief moment. They didn't have a specific gluten free menu, but Deja did tell us what was naturally gluten free and/or could be modified. A lot of the food is made in house. A lot of it looked appealing, but they had gluten free noodles that were not made in house. So I went with a trusted filet mignon cooked medium. The demi glace was an excellent touch. The potatoes were pretty good. The broccolini wasn't what I was hoping for. My parents dishes were much larger. Leftovers were had and enjoyed on a second day. I would maybe try the short ribs next time we would go. The building is very rustic and decorative. The bathroom is upstairs; an elevator is present is needed. A very interesting place. Staff and kitchen very accommodating. The prices are high for the amount you're given. Would love some in house pasta that is gluten free with an in house sauce. I was there primarily for the company. Not my favorite spot. I would be willing to go again.
