I've eaten here a few times but today I tried their cookies for the first time. They're a decent size, very soft with quality ingredients. They're also reasonably priced. The s'mores cookie is definitely for a chocolate lover. You do get chunks of marshmallow, but they are sporadic. The oatmeal raisin is one of my favorite cookies. Gluten-free rolls available! DiBella's Subs is located in close proximity to the Corporate Plaza (Independence business district) and local hotel cluster (3 minute drive). There is plenty of parking in the plaza. My company used to frequently order catering from this location. And so, I decided to try something familiar while in the area. This was my first time at their physical location. Deli Feel: The deli has NYC deli feel - subway tiles and vintage deli art. Think a nice Italian elevated deli. It doesn't seem that there is A/C at this location or at least it's not running at its capacity. There were ceiling fans operating but on a hot summer day it was toasty. The restaurant offers tables and booths. I observed that most guests found themselves comfortable in booths. Around 1 PM on a weekday there was a steady crowd dining in and ordering takeout. Ordering: Your order is placed and picked up at the back counter. Signage is a bit disorienting. Think Penn Station type layout. You can also pre-order online. My order was ready quickly. I observed that other guests had to wait awhile. Orders were not called in the numerical order. If you have a large or complex order or are pressed for time, I recommend exploring online ordering. Menu: DiBella's menu is straightforward - subs, mini meals (5" small sub + side + drink), salads, drinks, sides and sweets. They conveniently highlight seasonal menu and top sellers on their menu. Best seller subs are Godfather, Turkey, and Cheesesteaks. DiBella's Subs are known for their old-fashioned submarines. They have in-house bakery, bake their own bread. They also market Grandma DiBella's cookies. While placing an order online or in person, you can choose your bread, cheese, and topping options. Gluten free menu items are available for all subs. My Order: I ordered 10" DiBella's BLT on sesame bread with American cheese for $11.39. The bread was very fresh and impressed me. The ingredients weren't notable - bacon was burned and clearly lower grade, cheese and veggies were just okay. I wouldn't say that the sandwich was heavy on fillings. The sub was fine, definitely not the best BLT in my lifetime. Customer Service: Customer service was condescending. The employee at checkout made visible unpleasant faces at customers. Questions were not well received from all customers during my visit. Questions were mainly order and menu related. Once it was my turn, I did not know where to look for bread and cheese options as a first timer. The menu was pointed out to me in a very impudent manner. It was really disappointing to witness interactions between customers and employees. Upon exit, I observed another employee returning to work looking very displeased. Hopefully bad service is not part of everyday culture. Catering: My company used to order catering from DiBella's. Orders were always efficient and right. Everyone considered the subs just alright. Bread wasn't as fresh as I've experienced at their location. Overall, it's a fine spot for a casual lunch if you're in the area. Good for catering if you want to treat your staff to something simple. I'm a huge fan of this place for lunch when I'm in the area... I highly recommend downloading the app and using that to order because they also throw a ton of coupons and free stuff on the app. The staff is incredibly friendly and fast. The subs are always great and so is the service... I don't really eat in the dining room area at all so I can't say much about that but I can say that it is always clean in the dining area and restrooms. read more

This was only my second time trying this regional chain restaurant. I read on an online article that DiBella's was rated as having one of the best meatball sandwiches so I gave it a try. I ordered the 10" on a freshly baked sesame seed roll and was pretty much blown away with the flavor and quality of the sandwich. The meatballs were legit, meat was hot and tender well flavored and smothered in marinara sauce. I added provolone, grilled peppers and onions for the full effect and was surprised I ate the entire sandwich along with the side of marinara that they also gave me. This definitely should have been 2 meals if I were a light weight. The news also impressed with the NY subway tiles and pictures of historical delis on the walls. DiBella Cheesesteak sub. What a way to enjoy lunch. The sub was every bit as tasty as it looks. I got it loaded with the peppers and onions and mushrooms. With Provolone cheese all piled onto the Everything bread. The bread was soft and delicious. The meat was tender and amazing. The veggies were not mushy. They tasted great. OH WOWWW!!!! I have been on a sandwich/sub WAVEE for the past few months. I am LOVINGGG sandwiches. I was having a bad day, my friend stopped by to grab me a turkey sub with all the goods on it** cute right ?! ** . When she took it out of her bag I was so confused. The sub was BIGGER THAN MY ARM! Sad sad service. Tried to call our order in Friday about 7 or 8 pm. It rang and rang. So we went on line. We had a coupon, at the end we thought it would give us the coupon total it gave us the $24 regular total. So we went to pick up the food since we never used a coupon here online before figuring the new total would beat the register. NO they said they we're having problems with the coupon and we would have to pay full price and use the coupon another time! Not fair at all. How hard would it have been to show good customer service and void out the sale and refund it and erring the new sale with the coupon. Decided to introduce my son to DiBella's subs. He never tried them but is a big fan of a chicken Philly. Told him to look over the menu and see if there was anything he wanted to try. I went in here for lunch this afternoon. I'll try to be as objective as possible about this place, but long story short, I wasn't thrilled. I feel like people around here are complacent with the status quo and it's sadly the reason so many mediocre places stay in business. When my order was ready and the buzzer went off, I went back to the counter. No one stopped to ask why I was there for a few minutes despite my asking for someone a few times. The lady passive-aggressively then showed that the order number displayed on the tiny SIDE of the disk-shaped buzzer matched my sub. Sorry I didn't look on the side of the buzzer. I'm sorry I distracted you from your complex restaurant operations, lady. I start eating. It's very oversauced. I eat like a civilized person, but the old and tired ingredients still poured out from the bottom of it with each bite I took, resulting in a mountain of mush that I still overpaid for. That's how I'd describe everything here - old and tired. I was left with mostly bread that tasted somewhat like a soft pretzel and somewhat like what I imagine cardboard would taste like. My colleague didn't have more than three bites of his wilted salad, whose dressing came manufactured in packets instead of being made there. Food? Bad Service? Somehow worse. Happy that was my last time there. Naf Naf is around the corner and makes me full and feel good after - how I want my hunger to be satiated, rather than having my appetite destroyed by "Old Fashioned" subs. read more

I was in Independence to meet some recruiters, so I figured I'd stop in for lunch after hearing my buddy tell me how good their sammiches are. The line was pretty long, but it seemed to move fairly quickly. The lady who took my order was very nice and was efficient. I had a small Godfather on multigrain. The bread was hearty and fresh. Lots of meat in the sammich and plenty of seasoning for a zesty flavor! It was delicious and filling. I'm glad I didn't get a larger one or I would've been on a food coma. Decided to try this place for the first time since I had a coupon. It was very disappointing!! We ordered two large subs, the godfather and the old fashioned. We asked for lettuce, tomato and onion. I'm not exaggerating when I say there was literally only 6 shreds of lettuce on my entire sub and the tomato's were basically non existent. I don't even think they remembered the onions because I didn't taste them and didn't see them but maybe they were microscopic considering the lack of the other vegetables. The bread didn't seem fresh. It was a little hard on the top. But with so little toppings it seemed like way too much bread for what was on it. We also got sides of the macaroni salad and potato salad. It tasted like the premade stuff you get in the store. I could have gotten a big tub of it from giant Eagle for what we paid for the two little helpings we got there. I don't plan on going back. read more

Staff is unprofessional. The manager does not do her job right. She gives specific people a day off and she lets them disrespect the other co-workers. The workers don't listen and they bring the social life into the workplace. The co-manager has a temper. I went in there one time in february and she brought her boyfriend there (he also works there) to fight another worker. I don't know what is going on but someone needs to fire the manager and the co-manager because I will not be a returning customer until they are fired. Not a lot to say really. This is a large sub chain serving menu driven sub sandwiches on a roll. The meat quality is pretty good actually, better than Subway by any measure. The bread is always fresh and has a great mouth feel. The staff at this location is outstanding really. They are always friendly; quick to help you decide and even add in suggestions for sauces and toppings ideal for the sandwich you selected. The only thing preventing 5 stars here is.. well it is a sub shop. It is not one that stands out with 'OMG' sandwiches but it is darn good. read more
