The difference between a chef and a cook is schooling. The cooks here could be chefs if they just had a little school behind him because they know exactly how to make amazing food! Admittedly I am a french fries now and I'm very picky on my fries and they did them perfectly. The prices are great it's kid approved everybody finish their meal and it was just a wonderful experience! Service was fantastic.

I eat here as often as can. The only place out of a few that you can eat under $10. The food is awesome!

Fast service great prices and the food is awesome. Check out the picture I posted. Every other restaurant price is well over $12 for a simple breakfast combo Shay's is still reasonable.

The breakfast was great! Many options to choose from and the portions are good for 2 people! The food is prepared fresh and service is fast. This place has a crowd so you have to be patient when donning in. Overall I would come back whenever I visit Cleveland. ( forgot to take pics of the food, we were hungry lol)

I was going to Annie B. & Earls, but they were either closed or have closed down due to the pandemic. I probably should have called first. Anywho, we decided to go to Shay's which was next door. It looks like it has been around for a minute... One thing that I don't like about businesses who's been around for a while, is they don't upgrade. Customers should not be sitting in cracked chairs and scarred tables. Like REINVESTMENT in your business. This is the main reason for a 3 raring. Also, staff was complaining about one another where I can hear and I didn't care for that behavior. I ordered Steak, 3 Eggs, Grits and English muffin. It was all good. No complaints. I like the diversity of staff and all kinds of folks came through. I probably won't return for the reasons listed above, but you'll get your money worth.

My fiance and I were in Cleveland for the Browns game and woke up early Sunday. Most places near us were either closed or too fancy, and then we found Shay's. This is your typical little breakfast joint. The service here was great! The woman who served our table was extremely kind and efficient. She was talking to her other guests by name so you can tell she knows her regulars. She made sure we were good to go throughout our meal and really boosted the atmosphere. The food could use a little salt and pepper but it's also nice that it's not overly seasoned so you can season it yourself to your liking. We were able to sit immediately and the food came out so fast. We both very much enjoyed our breakfast and time here and will be returning when we need a breakfast spot in Cleveland! The only thing is it could be a little cleaner. We sat near the window and the blinds were pretty dirty. So a deep cleaning couldn't hurt. BUT the booth, seats, forks, cups, and plates were clean and I don't eat off the blinds so whatever. Definitely recommend this place for many reasons! We're looking forward to returning.

Both were delicious! The biscuit was perfectly buttery, and it was covered in a rich, flavorful mushroom gravy and came with scrambled eggs. It was filling but somehow not too heavy. I licked my plate clean. The pancake was also wonderful. It was topped with a thin layer of rhubarb jam that brought a nice tartness along with a dollop of sorghum butter and whipped cream, and served with Ohio maple syrup on the side. I could have easily had a whole stack of the pancakes. The staff was friendly, and though the place was busy, the service was efficient. Excited to come here again! We started with the Cheddar & Chive Biscuit served with butter and seasonal jam--and honestly, it was the perfect start to the meal. It featured local peaches, bacon, whipped blue cheese, pickled onion, arugula, and basil, all layered on a thick, perfectly toasted slice of bread. Absolute perfection. My husband went with the Gravy & Biscuit, which came with local mushroom gravy, kale, soft scrambled eggs, and house-made sausage crumbles. We shared the loco moski, paprikash sandwich, and a side of bacon wrapped tots (good option if you just want 2 and not the full appetizer). While the bacon wrapped tots are famous from Food Network's Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, I actually liked the loco moski and paprikash sandwich more. The loco moski is a fun combination between a loco moco but with pierogi, and I like that the peppered gravy wasn't too rich. The paprikash sandwich was also a great combo of chicken, sausage, peppers, cheese, paprikash, on lightly crispy bread. Parking available as free street parking--though you may have to circle to find parking since it's near the Christmas House. Staff were nice and efficient. The place does feel a little tight in terms of space with less lighting, but there's still plenty of seating and what matters to me more is good food. Overall, great place to try local food. Would get the loco moski and paprikash sandwich again.

I wanted to try the pierogi and the Polish boy and the KRAUT and having an extensive beer menu doesn't hurt either. Friendly neighborhood watering hole literally on the corner and basically across the street from the a Christmas story house allowing you to eat within eye sight of the leg lamp. I wanted basically everything from the menu that came vegan (spoiler alert there are tons and tons of things) but gastric space comes at a premium on vacation so we settled on the fried cheese. I was very excited to see the Polish boy (and vegan option no less) I didn't have much of a choice. GF ordered the vegan pierogi platter with vegan kielbasa on a bed of kraut. Firstly the fried cheese was head and shoulders above any mozz sticks or anything of the sort that I have had in memory. The breading is seasoned and crispy and heaven on earth. The cheese is PIPING. Like you will burn yourself if you, like me, have no patience. The accompanying tomato sauce is also steaming. So good. The Polish boy was also in a league of its own. Love that they have a vegan version. What a combo. Probably one of Cleveland's most important community contributions. We ordered the latkes to go and they were orgasmic. What a special place.

We were totally fine with that, went and grabbed a coffee from a local shop, and then returned to the restaurant. Food was great and the server was so kind! The reason for the 3-star review is because the hostess was very rude. She completely shattered an easy 5-star review. We had nine people in the family, and one was golfing. We intended to put in a takeout order for him but due to the 45-minute wait, he ended up finishing before we were even seated. We invited him to come along and then we were called to be sat. We ordered his meal for him prior to him arriving and this was still a major problem for the hostess. She basically threatened to move us back outside and told us we were "holding the table" even though we would have never done that. Instead of giving me the opportunity to explain to her we would have done takeout anyways had he not arrived(but he did because again, it was a 45 minute wait), she just continued to talk over me. It made all of us very uncomfortable and the first 10 minutes we felt very on edge and unwelcomed. She then did the same thing to our ninth person when they walked in the restaurant 5 minutes after. He had no idea what had already occurred and was also caught off guard. Most of us worked in this industry in the past, and we thought we were doing the right thing by letting her know. Thank you to everyone else who helped soften our experience. It was very appreciated. Every person who brought a dish to our table was extremely kind. We all had something different on the menu and there were no complaints!

I'm so sad about this, but this was not my favorite experience at Leavened. Customer service was great of course but my selections fell short. I got a mushroom and ricotta croissant, which was fine. I forgot the ricotta was supposed to be there because it mostly tasted liked mushroom, but it was good. I also got the cinnamon monkey bread. This was not good. It was seemingly cooked in the paper that it was served in so the top of the bread pieces were crunchy, the middle was softer and then everything else was completely stuck to the paper. I didn't get to eat about 1/3 of what I paid for and I had to work really hard for the other 1/3. Also, the bread had a very spicy taste. It must have been cinnamon and allspice, but it was entirely too much and very overpowering. It truly tasted like a spicy savory bread which is not what I was expecting or wanted. Monkey bread is usually gooey and sweet. This missed the mark, but that's okay. I'll certainly return for another treat soon. Also the bread was looking fire this day.

The guy at the register said the bread pudding still has a "cinnamon roll base, so it has orange in it" despite nothing in the sign denoting this awful addition to bread pudding and the fact that cinnamon rolls are not orange rolls. But I digress and I won't fight with a cashier over their poor decisions lol. Also got a cherry chocolate sourdough on impulse. Pray it is soft inside.
