They had good music playing we were singing and dancing in our seats the whole time. Our waitress was friendly, she made conversations and recommendations. We shared the French toast it was light and the sauce was amazing but it was overall very sweet. I had the catfish and grits which was extremely well done and I left with leftovers. I was really disappointed with my experience at Double Nickel on September 11, 2026. Our food was ordered at 11:14 AM and did not arrive until 11:55 AM. We waited approximately 41 minutes for our food: a BLT with fries, Chicken & Waffles, and a crab cake platter with over-easy eggs and potatoes. Unfortunately, when the food finally arrived, EVERYTHING was cold. I brought this to the manager's attention, and I was offered the option to have the food reheated. Reheated? How do you properly reheat bacon that has already been cooked? Fries that have already been deep-fried? A waffle? Over-easy eggs? At that point, I would have expected the food to be remade fresh, rather than reheated. The food itself had good flavor, which makes the experience even more disappointing because I would have liked the opportunity to actually enjoy it fresh. Instead, I couldn't eat my meal. Paying $20 for a cold BLT and cold fries after waiting 41 minutes is simply not acceptable. Unfortunately, the customer service experience made things even worse. The manager's energy came across as rude, uninviting, and unwilling to genuinely listen or assist with the situation. When a customer has waited 41 minutes and receives an entire meal cold, I would expect the manager to be empathetic, listen to the concern, and make a genuine effort to resolve it. There were also some things happening throughout the restaurant that were concerning from a cleanliness and professionalism standpoint. I observed the bartender and employees playing cards at the bar, while kitchen staff were walking around the dining area in their aprons. I also witnessed a kitchen employee rub their nose with their apron. Seeing an apron used in that manner was especially concerning to me from a food-safety and sanitation perspective as aprons shouldn't be worn outside of the kitchen. I understand that restaurants can have busy days and that mistakes happen. However, the combination of the 41-minute wait, an entire meal arriving cold, the response from management, and the lack of professionalism and cleanliness I observed made this a very disappointing experience. I hope management takes this feedback seriously. Customers should be able to expect their food to arrive hot and fresh, and when something goes wrong, they should feel that management genuinely cares about making it right. read more

Ambience- it was game day and I like to see basketball or football when I'm out- they had several large screens. Food- the menu was small but when it comes to brunch if you do it right you don't need too much. I was with my 6 yr old and 17 yr old and we found items for everyone's taste. The shrimp and grits was seasoned to perfection with great portions. The steak and eggs were right the first time. I snuck a bite of the chicken and waffles which were light as well. I can't give them any more stars because we waited nearly 30 minutes for the check. I received a water refill once in the 1.5 hour visit. That part of the visit was disappointing. read more

Last weekend 2 friends and I visited Double Nickel for Sunday brunch. There was a short wait for a table, so we decided to sit at the bar. The restaurant is small but comfortable, and there is an extra room for private dinner parties. They offer bottomless mimosas for $25/person, which is a pretty good price. I was happy to see that the mimosas weren't pre-batched and that we could switch between cranberry, pineapple and orange juice. There were a few other drinks on the brunch cocktail menu that looked good as well. They were out of the cinnamon roll skillet, which we were going to have as an app, so that was a bummer. I did see a few people get the French toast which was big and looked yummy. Myself and another friend got the fried catfish which came with eggs and your choice of grits or breakfast potatoes. The catfish was excellent. Perfectly fried and well seasoned. I got the breakfast potatoes which were likely not homemade but they did add sautéed peppers and onions, so they were pretty good. My friend got the grits with cheese but said they came out a bit cold so they weren't enjoyable. I tried a bite of the salmon croquette. Let's just say it didn't change my feelings about salmon croquettes. It's a no for me. Overall, Double Nickel is a good, low key spot for brunch. Nice portions that will leave you full and food that is simple, yet packed with flavor. The service was pretty mediocre. Our server/bartender was not overly friendly and somewhat nonchalant, but she wasn't mean. The service was extremely slow. We waited nearly an hour for our food after ordering. One of my friends had to box up their food immediately when when it arrived because they couldn't wait any longer. Our waitress was extremely apologetic and I appreciate that but waiting an hour for food it's unreasonable. We drank cup of coffee, after cup of coffee while waiting for our food. Our waitress was very attentive. I was not pleased with my meal at all. I got the New York strip with eggs, potatoes, and toast. The New York strip was extremely overcooked, and I doubt if that was even actually a steak to be honest, it looked and tasted more like pork if you ask me - I don't know I just was not happy. I did not tell this to the waitress. This is not her fault and we had already waited so long. I was just disappointed and paying $25 for a meal that wasn't even good. The decor is beautiful - the very cute space and they also offer a room for private events which I think is pretty neat.
