Cajun Style Shrimp & Grits subbed for fried catfish
    Priscilla A.

I got the catfish, shrimp, and grits but subbed for fried catfish. The catfish was perfectly fried and crispy. The sauce was a tad bit too runny for me. It tasted really good, but something in it made me feel nauseous halfway through my meal. My friend had the same reaction and couldn't finish hers. Could have been something we had prior. The French toast my other friend ordered looked very good.

I was looking for something good and hearty near the library during a conference and I found Double Nickel on my way to somewhere else. Normally my meals require way more research but I decided to take a chance. I enjoyed my meal overall. Under smooth R&B I got a good plate quickly and I felt like I was at an aunties house. My food came out hot except for the potatoes, which really needed some love and attention. Service was good for a busy Saturday morning but I was not a fan of the automatic gratuity.

Food was pretty good. I really enjoyed the flavor of the waffle. The bartender was an amazing server, Daryl (Not a guy)! Great ambience and music playing. There was a little confusion on seating but after it got worked it was all good. The hostess, Lauren, had the most amazing smile and was accommodating, at first she didn't look happy, then after we talked she showed that amazing smile. I look forward to coming back!

Favorite meal of the day is always brunch and finding new and delicious options is a hobby for me. This place was on my radar for a few months and I'm glad we made it on a Sunday afternoon. 1. Location: downtown which I enjoy - I didn't have high hopes for parking and needed to valet for $25. arrived around 1pm and were seated right away in the ht the cozy space with tons of windows and lighting. 2. Ambience- it was game day and I like to see basketball or football when I'm out- they had several large screens. About midway through the meal a DJ setup and played some nice R&B throughout the rest of brunch which my kids and I loved 3. Food- the menu was small but when it comes to brunch if you do it right you don't need too much. I was with my 6 yr old and 17 yr old and we found items for everyone's taste. The shrimp and grits was seasoned to perfection with great portions. The steak and eggs were right the first time. I snuck a bite of the chicken and waffles which were light as well. I can't give them any more stars because we waited nearly 30 minutes for the check. I received a water refill once in the 1.5 hour visit. That part of the visit was disappointing.

Excellent food. Down home southern breakfast in downtown Cleveland! They give you big portions and the food was flavorful. Service for the most part was really good. They get really busy and I don't believe they accept reservations. So expect a wait if it's the weekend. (There is a counter that is first come first serve which could be quicker than getting seated at a table) Valet parking is available right in front but you may be able to find cheaper street parking in the area.

Food was really good. Service was cool. Ambience is cool time for some touch ups though

This place is busy on the weekend, we put our names in and was able to sit and dine after 30 mins wait. The chicken and waffles was really good, the biscuits and gravy is ok, the veggie omelette was ok. Would like to try the french toast next time, so far, I highly recommend the chicken and waffles. Chicken is really crispy and flavorful. The waffle batter is also delicious. They have a clean multiple stalls bathroom. The decor looks modern.

FIVE STARS?????? Thats not enough ~How bout 1M stars ok?!?!?! My husband are in Cleveland for a conference and had breakfast here this morning AND IT IS THE BUSINESS YALL...PERIODT!!!!!!! The food is AHHHHHHMMMMMAAAAZZZZIIINNNGGG!!!!!!!!!!!EVERYTHING on their menu is on point~matta fact, you can close your eyes and touch the menu and can't go wrong! The portions are generous, the seasoning is on point...just like at your grandmother's house...not sure why salt and pepper is on the table...you won't need it...the food is just that good! The music is lit, is just a earshot to enjoy the groove without screaming your conversation to your table guest (that really matters 2 me) the customer service begins when you walk in and for us that is PRICELESS ~ when you care, it shows! When in Cleveland, you MUST matta fact VERY NECESSARY that Double Nickel is on your list. FOODGASM?! YASSSSSSS!!!! Don't believe me? Stop by, see and taste for yourself and have your own Foodgasm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both were delicious! The biscuit was perfectly buttery, and it was covered in a rich, flavorful mushroom gravy and came with scrambled eggs. It was filling but somehow not too heavy. It was topped with a thin layer of rhubarb jam that brought a nice tartness along with a dollop of sorghum butter and whipped cream, and served with Ohio maple syrup on the side. I could have easily had a whole stack of the pancakes. The staff was friendly, and though the place was busy, the service was efficient. Excited to come here again! I couldn't finish the whole plate, but only because I was full, not because I wanted to stop. The space itself is small, cozy, and incredibly charming--cute, quaint vibes that make the whole experience feel warm and special. Truly an unforgettable brunch. I'm already dreaming about going back.

I wanted to try the pierogi and the Polish boy and the KRAUT and having an extensive beer menu doesn't hurt either. Friendly neighborhood watering hole literally on the corner and basically across the street from the a Christmas story house allowing you to eat within eye sight of the leg lamp. I wanted basically everything from the menu that came vegan (spoiler alert there are tons and tons of things) but gastric space comes at a premium on vacation so we settled on the fried cheese. I was very excited to see the Polish boy (and vegan option no less) I didn't have much of a choice. GF ordered the vegan pierogi platter with vegan kielbasa on a bed of kraut. Firstly the fried cheese was head and shoulders above any mozz sticks or anything of the sort that I have had in memory. The breading is seasoned and crispy and heaven on earth. The cheese is PIPING. Like you will burn yourself if you, like me, have no patience. The accompanying tomato sauce is also steaming. So good. The Polish boy was also in a league of its own. Love that they have a vegan version. What a combo. Probably one of Cleveland's most important community contributions. We ordered the latkes to go and they were orgasmic. What a special place.

I'm so sad about this, but this was not my favorite experience at Leavened. Customer service was great of course but my selections fell short. I got a mushroom and ricotta croissant, which was fine. I forgot the ricotta was supposed to be there because it mostly tasted liked mushroom, but it was good. I also got the cinnamon monkey bread. This was not good. It was seemingly cooked in the paper that it was served in so the top of the bread pieces were crunchy, the middle was softer and then everything else was completely stuck to the paper. I didn't get to eat about 1/3 of what I paid for and I had to work really hard for the other 1/3. Also, the bread had a very spicy taste. It must have been cinnamon and allspice, but it was entirely too much and very overpowering. It truly tasted like a spicy savory bread which is not what I was expecting or wanted. Monkey bread is usually gooey and sweet. This missed the mark, but that's okay. I'll certainly return for another treat soon. Also the bread was looking fire this day.

The bread was fresh and crusty, there were two small strips of tofu that had maybe been dribbled on by hoisin sauce at some point, some lettuce and jalapeño slices, and carrots. The sandwich was dry as a bone and a really sad empty version of a banh mi. The chocolate rye cookie I bought as a back up was thankfully still deliciously chocolatey and soft as usual. The guy at the register said the bread pudding still has a "cinnamon roll base, so it has orange in it" despite nothing in the sign denoting this awful addition to bread pudding and the fact that cinnamon rolls are not orange rolls. But I digress and I won't fight with a cashier over their poor decisions lol. Also got a cherry chocolate sourdough on impulse. Pray it is soft inside.
