I read reviews and thought we would give this place a try. The woman working was very nice and the cook came out and said hi to our son. However, we ordered the Sausage Biscuits & Gravy and Dominic Bowl with Kielbasa and kids pancake. My husband said the biscuits and gravy was more like gravy soup with a couple biscuits included. Came by this place pretty much by accident after we were in the neighborhood and decided to look for a place to have brunch nearby. A very cool vibe inside. I expected this place to be your run of the mill breakfast diner serving your staple bacon, eggs, and hash brown breakfast. Oh no, no, no!!! Try a handful of different omelets, breakfast sandwiches, chicken and waffles, just about *anything* & grits, etc. It's a very eclectic and exciting menu. I ordered breakfast for the family. I spent $85 including tip. I'm sitting in an area reserved for customers dining in as there where no sits available for customers waiting on carry-out. That Breakfast Place really is THAT Breakfast Place. I've ordered pick-up from here many times and I have never been disappointed. This weekend's meal really blew me away though. I got chicken wings and french toast and the dominic bowl. The dominic bowl is a breakfast potato bowl with peppers, onions, and cheese and topped with eggs. You can add meat if you'd like. I get this often and it's always good. It comes with a piece of wheat bread toast. The potatoes are well seasoned and fully cooked and the peppers and onions are seasoned too! However, The star of this meal was the wing dings. I could not really place my finger on the combination of seasoning that they used on the chicken, but it was phenomenal. It tasted kind of sweet but perfectly salted. They were 6 wing dings all breaded, fried, and seasoned to perfection. The french toast pieces are hand-dipped and made using a thick bread. I appreciate the fact that they aren't too thin or soggy and they are topped with delicate powdered sugar. The whole meal lasted me all day. I've never eaten in, but everything I go to pick up my food, the place is pretty full and they do a lot of carry-out orders. This place was awesome. Very unassuming exterior and dining area, but the food was great. I had catfish, grits, biscuits and turkey gravy. The gravy is homemade and they bread their own catfish. First time going here. First of all, the music was too loud and the person taking the order could barely hear me and I could barely hear them. (Lots of head cocking and "repeat that"s between the two of us). Next, I asked if I could get the catfish cooked without salt and I was assured that no salt would be added. (The tastebuds of the person that the fish was for cannot tolerate much salt). Guess what? The batter contained salt, PLUS salt was sprinkled on the fish AFTER it was cooked. Next, I ordered the Steak, home fries and egg plate. I asked if I could get the steak cooked medium and was told that their steaks are always cooked medium. Well good, I thought. Someone knows how to make a juicy steak. Guess what? My steak was cooked well done. But I guess that could not be helped because the steak was so thin, the heat from a light bulb would have overcooked it. That steak was probably no more than 1/4" thick. Being that it was so thin and overcooked, it was kind of dry. Not quite beef jerky, but one had to do a bit of jaw work to get it down. But despite my disappointment in the quality of the steak, it was redeemed by the flavor. The liquid that it was marinated in, was quite tasty and not salty. I'm not sure of all of the ingredients in it, but there was a hint of Asian flavoring. It was really good. I also ordered eggs over easy. They weren't bad, just different. The eggs were cooked enough to get rid of their opaqueness. This made a dish of barely formed egg white swimming in a viscous yellow liquid. It didn't look appetizing, but using their limp undercooked toast to sop up that liquid was so very tasty. I usually order my eggs over easy, but I've never had them this undercooked. So my critique about these eggs is just that they are a bit undercooked than one would expect. Also, I now want them like this all the time. Even at home. I also ordered grits. They lacked salt, which didn't bother me because they were smooth and creamy. Even better, with their delicious turkey sausage gravy. Even though I was disappointed with some of the food, it's likely that I would visit this place again because the prices were reasonable, the staff was welcoming and friendly, most of the portions were fair and most importantly...the grits and gravy! read more

This place encapsulates everything that I love about a greasy spoon: a funny and friendly server, cheap prices, and delicious food. Some menu highlights: home-fries were perfectly crispy and well-seasoned, the bacon is OUT OF THIS WORLD, scrambled eggs were not overcooked. Was visiting for the weekend and our friend took us to what it seems like a humble breakfast place from the outside. But don't let the less than flashy exterior deter you. You walk in and it's already crowded with people waiting for seats or take out orders. The inside is small but the service is fast and the staff were so friendly. I brought several out of town relatives to That Breakfast Place last year or year before, I can't remember what year. However, after we ordered, we patiently waited on our meals, which was a lengthy wait. After seeing the food we thought the wait was going to be worth while. However, this place did not use real butter. They use a tasteless yellow oil that looks like butter. i don't even know if it was margarine. Everybody was angry with me. I didn't know they didn't serve real butter. As a matter of fact, I don't know any restaurant in Cleveland that does not serve real butter. If they think margarine is a suitable replacement and/or is healthier than butter then they need to do some research. My relatives hated their food without real butter. If anyone knows of a restaurant in Cleveland that does not serve real butter please post it because I do not. No artificial processed yellow oil or margarine can compare to the taste of butter. If they are trying to cut corners they might instead be cutting away customers. I ate there myself again and, again, no butter. Tiffany led us in the right direction when I asked her what to order for a hangover. I want to be her friend. I am healed! Oh! This place is one of those hidden gems you hear about! We travel 2 hours to visit this place for the amazing customer service and food. My go to is the egg and turkey sausage croissant with a side of the turkey sausage gravy. The portions are huge, and the quality and taste is unparalleled. It seems most everything is handmade and you can tell: the biscuits, the gravy and worth traveling hours for. The selection is varied so there is something for everyone. Amazing! The wait was very short, good music, and oh my gosh, the food was fantastic. My family got, a shrimp and grits bowl, didn't leave anything on the plate after, a traditional place, still left nothing on the plate, and chocolate chip pancakes. House fries had amazing flavor and texture. "Crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside." The coffee was great, and the service. Let me start by apologizing about the pictured plate. Here's why: I have been wanting to try this place for 4 months!!!! And today was finally the day! I have a cousin that is greedy like me and loves breakfast at all times, so it was a hit that we linked and we pulled another cousin in and it was a triple throw down in the making. BOOM! Ambiance very simple, if you like unpretentious family style you will feel at home here. The music matched my preferences and you can hear families chatting but it is not loud. Service is good, it is nice to see a warm smile when ordering food. It was obvious that the waitress was eager to help. It puts you in a good mood while waiting for food. Maybe 10:30am is too early to eat fried catfish and grits, but where do do find such offering in a northern USA diner menu. I could not resist and I was right about it.
