    Hot cocoa with whipped cream!
    Schyler B.

Stepping into this restaurant felt like stepping into a small town cafe, I was greeted so warmly and though the place was small it was not cluttered at all and I got to whiteness the staff very often chat with their customers, greeting them by name and asking if they want their "usual" It seems like a very community oriented cafe! very homely, so so kind. I love restaurants like this, so personable and really made my day! the decore is fun! I got to sit in an alcove with cool chicken pictures on the walls! hot chocolate is always a win! Tastes the same as my childhood! My eyes went immediately to the Chipotle Bacon sandwich, ooooooohhhhhh SO GOOOD!!! I am one to alway eat half and save the rest for later but I sat and devoured the whole thing! The bacon is realllllly good!!! I will definitely be coming back here, I'm just sad I found this cute little cafe a few weeks before I move out of county (Price was REALLY good! food was delicious and service was spectacular!)

I came for the stuffed French toast, and it was well worth the trip! They were busy on a Saturday morning but we snagged a 2 top pretty quickly. The dining area was pretty basic but we had the window table which was nice. If you plan to visit, bring cash and you'll get a free homemade cookie to go!

Food is great quality diner type food. And just what you want on a weekend morning when you can treat yourself. All of the breakfast dishes were great (been here twice and had pancakes, breakfast burrito and regular breakfast dish with eggs/toast). One thing that makes you want to come back and enjoy the experience is the service. Joe and Kelly (forgive me if names aren't correct) are great. Joe has been my primary server on both visits and he not only calls everyone friend he treats you like a friend. I'll be back again!

Thank you for letting us know why your family owned business has been around for over 30 years. From the moment we walked into the Borderline Cafe; we immediately felt the warmest of welcome extended to each and every customer walking through the door from Rae and Joe. We loved the "Hi Friends" and other pleasantries extended as guests entered. The service was with a smile and the food made with love. Our breakfast tasted just as good as the service. Everything we ordered was delicious and coffee was hot and refilled before my cup was empty. If you are ever in the Cleveland area, beeline it to Borderline. They will help you start your day off right.

Long waits. Excellent breakfast. Try to get the seat in the window if possible. It adds to the experience of having a good home cooked meal. While we all should be able to take our time, eat, and chat; be a team player, don't linger--eat, and be on your way.

This place is a sweet, funky little casual restaurant with a great menu and excellent customer service. Looking forward to our next visit to try more on the menu!

This place surprised me. If you're planning to come here, keep a few things in mind: 1) you wait in line outside to be called in (no list, no call ahead seating), 2) the menu items are large portions so order a half portion if you're worried about that and 3) it's no longer cash only! After waiting for 45 minutes outside, I got to have Sunday breakfast here. I tried the huevos rancheros verde with chorizo, a side of home fries and the special stuffed pumpkin French toast! All were great and I would get them all again.

    Cuban sandwich with queso tots

My family and I chose Borderline Cafe from Yelp reviews while spending a morning in Lakewood, OH. It's a small place with not a lot of tables, but a hard-working staff taking great care of their customers. We had a late breakfast/ early lunch. I ordered the Cuban sandwich pictured here, and it hit the spot. Quality meats, tasty mustard and pickles, and melt cheese. As a side I chose the tots, and just couldn't help myself and added some queso. While the queso was good, the tots already well-spiced, so it wasn't necessary. All around a great meal. Bring cash for a discounted bill. They accept CCs, but they pass on the fees which is perfectly understandable. Enjoy this place if you haven't already.

We got the tostada and the biscuits and gravy. The tostada was a work of art! And bursting with flavor. The biscuits and gravy. Where to start? The biscuit was super flaky, moist, cut in half and filled with scrambled eggs that seemed to be layered. The whole thing was covered with a gravy, chock full of sausage and, perfectly cooked mushrooms. I got a sweet potato cinnamon bun to go. Can't wait to try that later today!

Both were delicious! The biscuit was perfectly buttery, and it was covered in a rich, flavorful mushroom gravy and came with scrambled eggs. It was filling but somehow not too heavy. I licked my plate clean. The pancake was also wonderful. It was topped with a thin layer of rhubarb jam that brought a nice tartness along with a dollop of sorghum butter and whipped cream, and served with Ohio maple syrup on the side. I could have easily had a whole stack of the pancakes. The staff was friendly, and though the place was busy, the service was efficient. Excited to come here again! We found TownHall, and it wasn't far from where we were. We got lucky and found a parking spot on the street right across from the restaurant. When we went inside, we noticed there are two different sections--one for dining and the bar area, and another that appeared to be more for takeout and quick service. We were seated fairly quickly and chose to eat inside since it was getting later in the evening. I had found TownHall on Yelp but honestly didn't spend much time looking at the menu. I trusted some of the highly rated reviews from Elite Yelpers and figured we'd give it a try. Our server was very friendly and asked if we had been there before. When we said no, she took the time to explain the menu and how the restaurant focuses on organic and healthier ingredients. My wife and I don't typically dine at organic-focused restaurants, so we didn't realize that was TownHall's concept. She did a great job explaining the menu and pointing out some of the more popular items. My wife ordered the grass-fed burger with Brussels sprouts, and I ordered the steak bites with white rice from the appetizer menu. While we were waiting for our food, we witnessed something that was a bit disturbing. A customer had a dog sitting on a bar stool next to him. An employee brought over a cup of whipped cream, and the customer fed it to the dog directly on top of the bar. The dog then proceeded to lick the bar top. A short time later, someone brought the customer a plate of food, and he appeared to encourage the dog to eat from the bar area as well. Personally, I didn't think that was very sanitary and felt it could be a health concern. Thankfully, the food completely changed the tone of our visit. When our meals arrived, we were genuinely surprised by how good everything was. The grass-fed burger was cooked well and had great flavor, and the steak bites were outstanding. The sauce paired perfectly with the rice, and it ended up being one of the best dishes I've had on our trip. Despite the issue we observed at the bar, the food and service were excellent. Based on the quality of the meal alone, we would definitely consider returning the next time we're in Cleveland but after seeing the dog lick all over the counter and not get cleaned probably not. Would have given a lower star but the food was good management must have thought the dog at the bar was fine?

We weren't really greeted as we walked in but a woman said hi as we took a seat. No one else acknowledged us and we didn't realize she worked there because she was just kind of visiting at a table. It's really standard food that kind of just feels like you went to someone's house for breakfast... including a little burnt edge on the pancakes.
