probably the best breakfast spot in cleveland, hometown diner with amazing pancakes and friendly service. minimal frills but if you're into a good greasy spoon place, this is the spot to go!

George's Super Special ($7.95): bacon, eggs, and pancakes -- on Tuesday, 25 April 2023

QUICK REVIEW -- Simple and delicious diner food. HUGE inside with plenty of room to sit including sitting at the counter. Quantity is average and similar to most diners (not too much and not too little food). The server Cindy was really nice and attentive (5/5 for Cindy). I first visited in April 2023 and then I visited again in July 2023, both times for breakfast. I've had their orange juice, french toast, omelets, tried their pancakes, eggs, and bacon combo (George's super special at $7.95). Their french toast is my favourite item on their menu and it is topped with powdered sugar. I certainly will be back as this is one of the most affordable restaurants in Cleveland that I've been to and it's very decent food. I recommend this local and small business. **** - 83/150 total reviews in 2023 - 634 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 9 November 2023

The waitress was very friendly and very attentive. The food was delicious. I ordered the veal parmesan. I love a lot of sauce and for the first time going to a restaurant I didn't have to ask for extra. I also got beef barley soup and a side salad. It was just the right amount of food with a little left over. It's a cozy neighborhood restaurant that is a must try.

My fav!! Corn, beef Reuben sandwich 20/10 !!!

Best place to eat, the employees very nice and friendly... extremely recommend. I love everything from this place

The food was delicious and the bill was only 22 bucks. The food came out fast and the service was great.

Really not good. Like so bad. Would've given only 1 star but the prices are so cheap that I gave 2 stars because wow I can't believe how cheap. Like how do you pay employees a fair wage with these prices? Hmm. The staff was unfriendly, it wasn't very clean overall, bathrooms were filthy, they didn't space out tables so unmasked patrons are all sitting near each other as if there isn't a pandemic happening, and every patron around us just gave off very bad vibes. The food all tasted like it was fried in old rancid oil. Like smelly old fryer oil is the only flavor anything had. Definitely a no go. Very divey. Very poor service. Very bad food. Great prices? You decide if it's worth a visit but I will not return.

Biscuits and gravy were unremarkable but very cheap at less than five bucks. Pumpkin pie slice was really forgettable. Cheap though. Place is always busy.

Friendly Staff, prices are good. The food is pretty tasty. But it needs some or upgrade in the restaurant and the bathrooms.

The place was packed, but the wait for a table was no problem at all--it was clearly worth it. I ordered the French toast (and calling it that doesn't do it justice). It was apple cinnamon toast layered with sweetened cream cheese, Ohio maple syrup, and Nolan's milk bread--and it was beyond anything I've ever tasted. Every bite had my taste buds popping. I couldn't finish the whole plate, but only because I was full, not because I wanted to stop. The space itself is small, cozy, and incredibly charming--cute, quaint vibes that make the whole experience feel warm and special. Truly an unforgettable brunch. I'm already dreaming about going back.

We started with the Cheddar & Chive Biscuit served with butter and seasonal jam--and honestly, it was the perfect start to the meal. For my main meal, I ordered the Toast & Peaches, which might just be the best breakfast I've ever had. It featured local peaches, bacon, whipped blue cheese, pickled onion, arugula, and basil, all layered on a thick, perfectly toasted slice of bread. Absolute perfection. My husband went with the Gravy & Biscuit, which came with local mushroom gravy, kale, soft scrambled eggs, and house-made sausage crumbles. If you're looking for a breakfast spot that's creative, fresh, and downright delicious, this is a must-try! I can't wait to go back!!

I wanted to try the pierogi and the Polish boy and the KRAUT and having an extensive beer menu doesn't hurt either. Friendly neighborhood watering hole literally on the corner and basically across the street from the a Christmas story house allowing you to eat within eye sight of the leg lamp. I wanted basically everything from the menu that came vegan (spoiler alert there are tons and tons of things) but gastric space comes at a premium on vacation so we settled on the fried cheese. I was very excited to see the Polish boy (and vegan option no less) I didn't have much of a choice. GF ordered the vegan pierogi platter with vegan kielbasa on a bed of kraut. Firstly the fried cheese was head and shoulders above any mozz sticks or anything of the sort that I have had in memory. The breading is seasoned and crispy and heaven on earth. The cheese is PIPING. Like you will burn yourself if you, like me, have no patience. The accompanying tomato sauce is also steaming. So good. The Polish boy was also in a league of its own. Love that they have a vegan version. What a combo. Probably one of Cleveland's most important community contributions. We ordered the latkes to go and they were orgasmic. What a special place.

We arrived a little bit after 11 and there was a 15-20 minute wait. It was busy for brunch! We ended up getting seated at the bar. My husband got the fried cat fish, and I got the NY strip. I also opted for the bottomless mimosas for $30. Our food took a bit to come out but it was fine just enjoying the ambiance (and they were busy). When the food came, I tried my husbands catfish which was really yummy! The NY strip steak was a really thin steak which I was a tad disappointed in, but overall the portion sizes were large and for the price ($27) it still felt like it was worth it. Their potatoes were super crispy too which I enjoyed. The staff were all very nice and even welcoming to us as Ravens fans :P

They sat two other people that came in 10 minutes after me, then when I got upset explained that they were waiting for a specific table to leave. (The people paid their check and sat for another 45 minutes, leaving the same time we asked for our check) I explained that seating people before me, then hoping a table would leave to accommodate me, while not communicating with me is not ok. I was met with "oh" and "yeah, but". I ended up sitting at a high top which is uncomfortable for me but they seemed unwilling to help find a solution other than apologies. (Lydia was very nice) I am light skinned and my partner is white, everyone else was black. It crossed my mind as to why, but I hope it's not the case that we were discriminated against. I'm so sad about this, but this was not my favorite experience at Leavened. Customer service was great of course but my selections fell short. I got a mushroom and ricotta croissant, which was fine. I forgot the ricotta was supposed to be there because it mostly tasted liked mushroom, but it was good. I also got the cinnamon monkey bread. This was not good. It was seemingly cooked in the paper that it was served in so the top of the bread pieces were crunchy, the middle was softer and then everything else was completely stuck to the paper. I didn't get to eat about 1/3 of what I paid for and I had to work really hard for the other 1/3. Also, the bread had a very spicy taste. It must have been cinnamon and allspice, but it was entirely too much and very overpowering. It truly tasted like a spicy savory bread which is not what I was expecting or wanted. Monkey bread is usually gooey and sweet. This missed the mark, but that's okay. I'll certainly return for another treat soon. Also the bread was looking fire this day.

The bread was fresh and crusty, there were two small strips of tofu that had maybe been dribbled on by hoisin sauce at some point, some lettuce and jalapeño slices, and carrots. The sandwich was dry as a bone and a really sad empty version of a banh mi. The chocolate rye cookie I bought as a back up was thankfully still deliciously chocolatey and soft as usual. The guy at the register said the bread pudding still has a "cinnamon roll base, so it has orange in it" despite nothing in the sign denoting this awful addition to bread pudding and the fact that cinnamon rolls are not orange rolls. But I digress and I won't fight with a cashier over their poor decisions lol. Also got a cherry chocolate sourdough on impulse. Pray it is soft inside.
