We LOVE this spot! We come like once a week. We just moved to the area a few months ago and while we want to try new restaurants, it's hard to not keep coming back here. To start- if you're looking for amazing service or cheap food, this isn't the spot. They get you your pretty food quick and it's worth the $$ to me. We often order and then take our buzzer over to the bar Lucky 13 next door. They have their regular menu as well as a specials menu and while I try to order new things, I always go back to the classic cheeseburgers. The hush puppies are SO good! The fries are too! Arguably the best burger and fries that I've ever had! Burger was flavorful and fresh, fries flavorful and had that nice exterior "crisp" we are always trying to find. Found them as a food truck outside a brewery-- had very low expectations, but was more than surprised at how amazing the food was. When my friend suggested coming here to get the blueberry bacon blue cheese au poivre, I was skeptical by the combination of flavors since I'm not always a huge fan of sweet and savory being mixed. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the blueberry sauce completing the blue cheese and basil aioli. They only have outdoor seating and bring the food out to you which was fine since we happened to be there on a really nice day. I appreciated that they were willing to switch out the beef patty for a vegetarian one. It's a little pricier than I would love, but tasty enough that I would return on a nice day. read more

Not for me, went to this place after work and was disappointed, it's pricey for the burgers and sandwiches and it dosent even come with fries, they have specialty fries which I can see them having you pay extra for those but you can buy a "baby fry" for 5$ but that literally should come with the sandwich, drinks were also separate too which was fine most places do that anyways. But your gonna pay 16-20 for just the sandwich or just the burger. The chicken sandwich is flavorless they don't use salt. So if you want at least some flavor get the spicy one. Came here while visiting friends in Oakland that had raved about their burgers. You go in and order and then all the seating is either outside or you can sit at the tables in the bar next door. I got the classic cheeseburger, a half side of house fries, the fried pickles and a side of the Hawaiian Mac salad. The fried pickles were really good. The burger was cooked medium and it was good, not anything amazing but it was good. It was also huge so I had to remove some of the lettuce to be able to take a bite. The fries were perfection and the amount I got seemed waaaay more than a half order so I can only imagine the full order. The Hawaiian Mac was a major let down, it was very bland and only after having to ask for salt to add was it tolerable. A big miss unfortunately. Overall this place has good food, I'm not a fan of blue cheese but I have heard that the blueberry bacon blue cheese burger is delicious. The Blueberry Bacon Bleu Cheese Au Poivre Burger is still one of the best burgers I have ever had. I am allergic to bleu cheese, but I always ask Scolari's to substitute it with American cheese. The blueberry sauce (or is it a jam?), along with the arugula, bacon, and peppercorn crusted juicy beef patty just vibe in a way that makes this burger really delicious. It is a costly burger at $19, but it's a mom and pop style joint and I am happy to support a local eatery for their delicious food. A few years ago this place dodged the 5 star rating because orders taking super long. Scolari's came back for vengeance. They didn't take long this time at all. They offer out side dining right in front of the restaurant . The food : A great philosopher by the name of Guy Fieri has inducted this fine establishment in to the Flavortown hall of fame. (The restaurant made it on the TV show) The food was incredible. The Buffalo fries large portion will feed two / three people (I was starving so it was great and sweaty lol ) not because it was hot outside but because it was spicy . Like that spicy that hits the right nods , it's a weird thing to have to explain over the internet . ( I love spicy thou so please continue making the heat) . The spicy chicken sandwich was actually spicy . It wasn't like the Places that call it spicy and put one grain of black pepper. This one was spicy in the best way possible. The chicken was succulent , crispy and juicy . It had a cool slaw on it to balance out the spicy and balance the crunch too. It was a very well thought out dish . I'm just updating my review to add how much I LOVE Scolari's. Literally just the most CRAVEABLE burger and fries I can think of in the East Bay. If I want a burger, I want Scolari's Blue Burger (it's called something long, but includes blue cheese, blueberry sauce, bacon, arugula, red onion and peppercorn crusted burger patty). The burger has the perfect balance, a little sweet from the blueberries, a little spicy from the peppercorn, umami and salty from the meat, blue cheese and bacon, just perfect. This was a great find for us. We came from Fresno to go to see the USS hornet museum ship. They weren't open yet so we went exploring, looking for somewhere to eat. Some how we ended up at Scolari's. The service was excellent the young man was courteous and seemed super busy. He was able to take our order and answer questions for me. I even got plain grilled chicken sandwich for my dad, which was excellent he said the meat was marinated and delicious even though it was just a piece of chicken on a bun. We ate outside along the street before we knew it. The young man brought our meal. My son had a Nashville chicken sandwich that looked delicious. My Nephew had the other chicken sandwich and I had a double wimpy burger with bacon. We had a giant plate of french fries they were delicious. All The food was delicious. The seating outside was wonderful all the people with their young babies and everyone was so nice. We had a wonderful time. It was a great Sunday. Lunch would definitely come back again. read more

Decided to try both their garlic scampi and Buffalo fries. 1) garlic scampi fries is definitely garlicky which is just what I like. Can't call it garlic fries if it doesn't have that kick of garlic. But I think it's a tad too oily - probably because they cook the garlic in oil and so with the fries, it becomes pretty oily that it taste gross after a little while (and that's even with a half order). Would probably be great if they dry cook the garlic with minimal oil. 2) Buffalo fries is what I have liked before and still do. This time, I asked for both the Buffalo sauce and the blue cheese dressing on the side. It was even better!! By having the sauces on the side, it prevent the fries from becoming soggy and it allows you to personally determine how much sauce you prefer. Yum! This is how I'm going to order this from now on. Plus with the celery and carrots, just balance out the oil. Highly recommend! read more

We had the blueberry bacon burgers and they were dry and flavorless. All I could taste was the blue cheese and it just was not tasty. The fries tasted like 2 week old fry oil. The place reeks of stale grease which my partner could smell on me when I returned with the takeout. I can stomach that smell if the food is good but unfortunately it's not. I think I tried this place once before and had similar feelings but forgot about it after 3 years. Two fries, two drinks, and two burgers was $70. Five guys is better. read more

Service is quick and friendly, and they'll come find you with your order. Good ol Boy Chicken sandwich was really tender, flavorful and just delicious. Scampi fries are fantastic. A half order is plenty to share, but you'll finish them all. Cannoli chips and dip is just like a cannoli, but less messy. Love, love, love this place! My mom who lives in WA also loves this place and every time she comes to town, we have to go. She came in for the weekend, so naturally this was our first dinner. My mom always gets the bacon, blueberry, blue cheese burger medium well and we always split an order of hand cut fries. I also always get the bacon, blueberry, blue cheese burger but medium. My partner just discovered their spicy chicken sandwich and she swears by it. We were there on Friday night and the wait was still only 20 minutes. We grabbed a table outside and ordered beers from Lucky 13 while we waited. The burgers were delicious as always and the chicken sandwich was great, but too spicy for me. They have a partnership with Lucky 13 bar right next door so you can take your food in there and eat it, and post pandemic they also now have outdoor street seating with benches and tables. Horrible parking as it's on Park Street, but you may get lucky parking a block away or so. If you're a burger person, You must try their Blueberry Bacon Blue Cheese Burger, one of the best burgers around, and their house fries are really good. I have also tried their New Jersey Taylor Ham, Egg, & Cheese Sandwich and it's really good too, kinda salty bc of the ham so don't eat it if you have to watch your sodium intake (okay maybe just a bite to taste lol). When I first moved to Alameda in 2016, Scolari's was one of the first places I tried because it had been featured on food network and popped up on Yelp everywhere. I have lots of photos of their food, but my fellow Yelpers are better photographers than me, so I won't bother uploading mine when there are already so many good ones here. If you eat meat, you have to try the bacon blue cheese blueberry burger. It sounds totally weird, but is actually amazingly delicious. The burger is incomplete without all ingredients (you get a pass if you remove the raw onions, like me) because all of the flavors work better together. The peppery beef patty is cooked to medium juicy perfection and creates a flavor bomb enveloped with bacon umami, salty and pungent notes from blue cheese, and rounded out by the sweetness of a blueberry compote. If you're debating whether to get the garlic fries as a side, DO IT! After all - the burger will already annihilate your breath. The hot chicken sandwich should come with more than an adjective as a warning. This sandwich is HOT!!!! Though the burger is the most interesting thing on the menu, this chicken sandwich is their true star because its "just another chicken sandwich" and still makes me do a happy dance after each bite. If you like to torture your tastebuds like I do, jalapeños are served on the side to add even more heat to the glorious Nashville sauce. It's located on Park Street, where you can do anything but park....expect to walk a few blocks. :) This place is the epitome of "hole in the wall" restaurants. Pre-pandemic they had 3-5 seats inside and room for standing for maybe 1-2 other people to order food and then typically wait outside for your order to be prepared to allow fellow patrons their space to order. They now have outdoor picnic tables if you wish to eat your food fresh. Or you can go next door to Lucky 13 bar to eat and grab one of their several draught beer options to wash down your burger. +1 Food, +1 Service, -3 Price I'm trying to be nice when I say this but if you want the minimum burger experience of fries, burger and a soda the minimum spend here is $20 for the smallest burger upwards of $30-35 for their classic/blueberry options. Don't get me wrong, the food is tasty but these prices are insane. For something that is a hole in the wall, with no indoor seating, and an overall dining experience of a quick takeout experience--IMHO you shouldn't be charging sit down dining service prices. I'd advise to take your $20-30 that could stretch out way further in not only food but a nice interior (with table service) to sit in on so many other options on the island.
