What an all-around perfect spot to enjoy a modern take on Roman Italian dishes. Set in the heart of the Monti district, tucked away on a cobblestone street with open-air windows facing the foot traffic, this is a wonderful restaurant to enjoy a fresh fresh fresh Caprese salad. Created with simple and incredibly fresh ingredients, their Caprese was one of the best dishes I had during my stay in Italy. The tomatoes were red, ripe and juicy and tasted as though they had been plucked from the vine that morning. The thick slices of mozzarella oozed milk as you cut into it and the olive oil drizzled on top was earthy, pungent and sweet. My only complaint was that I would have loved a few more basil leaves, it seems in Italy they only give you 4 or 5 at the most, perhaps to ensure that your focus is primarily on the three prior ingredients and the simplicity of the salad. A deep-fried egg dish on a bed of fresh ricotta cheese topped with thin crispy onions, an onion I have never heard of or seen before was a modern and dramatic, (not to mention creative) take on an egg appetizer. Servers are polite and friendly and speak quite a bit of english. I would like to go back to experience their dinner menu which changes seasonally. read more

Had an excellent 3 course meal here. It was a cozy and tastefully decorated establishment on a small side street a block from a Metro station. I shared the ham with cheese and blueberries and the sausage crostini with bri for appetizers. Then we had risotto with lemon zest and carbonara. Unbelievable. Finished with steak and pork with bacon and champignions. 4 of us ate all this plus 2 large waters and 4 Leffe beers for about 105 euros. Highly recommended! read more

After walking around the Colosseum, this place was about 15 minutes away by foot. Small venue compared to what you may be used to. I started off with the Parma Ham and Mozzarella. It came with bread to use with it. The Gratin Courgette Blossoms was an interesting flavor. It was a flower like wrap with a ricotta and ham combination. It was unique and not terrible but not something I'd order again either. The Lombichelli with bacon and artichokes was delicious even though it was extremely salty. If they drained some of the grease from the dish and let the parmesan help add the needed salty factor, the dish would have been a great hit. In addition, had the Sedani with pork and pumpkin cream sauce. This was phenomenal. The pasta was cooked al dente with a balance between the salt of the sausage and creaminess of the sauce. The staff was accommodating with my terrible attempt at speaking Italian. I recommend this place after exploring the Colosseum. read more

We happened to find this place by accident while walking around Monti and liked it so much that we booked a second time to take the rest of the family. The menu changes slightly from time to time but I found that this lets you experience all sorts of different and amazing food. The music and atmosphere is very relaxed and romantic. The food is delicious. I personally recommend the carbonara and the tiramisu. We didn't need a reservation the first time (we only had 2 people) but we went ahead and made one the next time (4 people). I can't wait to go back. read more

The two of us ordered an appetizer (gratin courgette was by far our favorite dish - full of flavor), a pasta dish, a main course (the calamari and prawns - absolutely delicious) and tiramisu, we split all four dishes so we could get a taste of everything! Best meal I've had in Italy!! Everything was so delicious. We started with the bruschetta, it wasn't anything special but still very good. I got the carbonara with prawns. The prawns were so juicy and flavorful, and the pasta was the perfect chewy texture. The sauce was cheesy and eggy, everything I wanted. My partner got the beef fillet with cheese and bacon. The sauce was very good- even though it was cheesy, it wasn't overly heavy or dense. We shared the grilled vegetables as well, which were very yummy as well. We finished with the tiramisu- light, creamy, coffee taste was not overpowering. Eat here! You will not regret it! read more

This was one of my favorite restaurants during my trip to Rome. It was off the beaten path enough not to be one of the tourist restaurants so prevalent in the area, but very easy to find. We started with a fried calamari and leek with drizzled balsamic appetizer and it was amazing, crispy and flavorful and sure to be something I find myself craving until I can get back to Rome! Our main courses lived up to the first -- balsamic pork for my mom, and sausage, leek, and pecorino tagliatelle for me. Hands down, this tagliatelle was my favorite pasta of the trip, which is really saying something. Unfortunately, I can't speak for dessert since I was stuffed. The atmosphere was nice, though. It was dimly lit and several flickers of candlelight around the place added to the ambiance. The music was at a pleasant level and helped keep the conversation noises down for the most part, which was helpful since some of the tables were fairly close together. The staff was friendly and the prices were very reasonable. I would absolutely recommend a visit for dinner and hope to be back soon! read more

I traveled through Venice, Florence, and Rome and this was by far my favorite restaurant! I actually discovered it on TripAdvisor, which has more reviews on this place, while doing a nearby search of places to eat near by hotel. It's a cute restaurant and unlike other Italian establishments, you're not an inch away from the next table; here you have maybe a foot (which makes a huge difference). The pastas here are AMAZING. I tried four different ones and I can't decide on a favorite because each were delicious in its own way. Their lunch and dinner menus are slightly different (I came on both occasions) in the types of pastas offered, but prices are the same. I came for a late lunch service and an early dinner service and there were no waits. I think the only comparable pastas I've had are at super fancy Italian restaurants in CA or NY. The portions are kind of small. Pastas range from 8-11€ so it's not expensive, but you'll need to order more than one dish. Their house wine is only 5€ and water is 2€. I also tried the fried veal entree and the cheesecake dessert. The cheesecake is really good! It's Italian cheesecake so more fluffy than American. I highly recommend this place! read more

This place was wonderful! I had this lemon risotto with zucchini and it also had cheese to give it a great creamy feel. (Very rich so I couldn't finish, but that didn't detract from how good it was). My mom had the veal and it was wonderful! Great size portions, not too big and not too small. We also had the fried squid which was good too! Had the pasta with cheese and peppers with fried calamari on top - I think the heaviness plus the fried was not a good combination - on their own would have been better. Absolutely delicious local foods! Menu changes daily so everything was fresh. We went with our five kids after our morning bike tour and couldn't have picked a better place!!! I got the bruschetta and the Argentinian beef which were both very good however, stray from that selection and the tomatoes were not completely ripe and the mozzarella slightly too firm and crumbly, the small octopus was mushy and tasted frozen, while the pasta with clams was only good. The beer and wine selection is extensive with many options, mine enjoying the Italian darker brew. To close out our stay in Rome, we had a great meal at Sciue Sciue. Our airbnb was just down the street, and our host recommended it. Definitely stop in at lunchtime to book a table for dinner - they were nearly full-up when we arrived at time, with plenty of locals as well as a few tourists. We had a wonderful caprese salad to begin - just not nearly enough basil, although the tomatoes were fresh and spicy and the cheese was tangy in a way that grocery store mozzarella is not. We were very impressed with their homemade pasta, and the way that they perfectly cooked the tuna steak for our secondi. We couldn't fault them on a thing, including the romantic, candlelit ambiance and the friendly service. A neighborhood gem that you must visit if you're in Monti. read more

My fiance and I were lucky enough to be seated without one, and we were impressed with everything from that moment on. It was a little difficult to find tucked out of the way on Via Urbana, but so worth it. I have to agree with most comments, both meal and service were outstanding and the chef visited our table to suggest a second course, which was a nice perk. I have to admit dessert was a bit of a let down, but not for flavor or quality... I just really wanted some more gelato before leaving Italy and too full to eat it! My wife and I walked in thinking it looked like a good spot. Unfortunately we were treated terribly by the staff and ended up walking right back out. I'm sure they have great food but we didn't want to stay as the server was rude due to my wife only wanting to share a meal. I've never been treated so poorly by a server my entire life. Maybe he was having a bad day? Either way, we took our business elsewhere. This was disappointing for my expectations of food in Italy. I was hoping for homemade pasta. They did not make their own. Despite expectations not being met, the food I did eat was cooked well. I was a bit perturbed by the serving of bread in a brown paper bag? It didn't quite match with their theme of a more "fancy" restaurant. We lucked out here. The place looked good and we gave it a shot and it was... good. Name means something like "quick, quick" but likely with a fresher connotation like "improvised." My pasta was a spaghetti with squid in a white sauce that was not much more than pasta water and parmesan and was delicious. Wife ordered bream and the garnish was roasted mix of eggplant, zucchini and red peppers served atop the fish like a sauce. We had a great pear cake for dessert. read more
