This was the first time I ever had German foods. It is special for sure but I probably wouldn't eat it often. Their services are great and they have good outdoor seating. The dining area is huge and they offer complimentary freshly baked bread!

The atmosphere is fantastic; very cozy, dark wood, and Bavarian flags throughout. The waitresses wear dirndls and white aprons, which is gorgeous! It's a good idea to make a reservation: On a Sunday afternoon, it filled up quickly, despite having three rooms! Our food arrived quickly and beautifully plated: Sauerbraten with red cabbage and a dumpling and carrots; Jaeger schnitzel with spaetzel and mushroom sauce. Dessert was a must-have: A slice of black forest cake and a slice of warm apple strudel with vanilla sauce. Both were excellent! Street parking on Sundays is free.

We made a reservation (via phone) for New Years Eve and were super happy that they were able to accommodate us a little earlier than our reservation time. We had celebrated the very rainy do-nut drop at Meritus Park and were ready to warm up after the fireworks! The sign in the entry way said the dress code is business casual, though I was not wearing business casual, but I wasn't alone. Our server was super sweet, helpful and decisive when we asked for recommendations. We started with some bread and it came with butter and a cream cheese mixture with pickles, anchovies and capers. I got a cup of potato soup to warm up and it was just what I needed. I got a Hefeweizen to drink and ordered the chicken Wiener schnitzel with spaetzle. It came with lemon slices and that spritz of lemon really elevated the dish. It was so much food-I ended up taking some home. For dessert I got the cheesecake which had ricotta cheese and lemon. It wasn't too sweet, which was perfect. We also got a complementary spiced rum eggnog shot, which was so nice.

Calm and sweet atmosphere, delicious food, kind and courteous service - alles gut!! Based upon previous reviews, we ordered the wurst sampler (we likewise loved it), also the fried tomato appetizer (yum!) 4 entrees profiled in the pictures were also very good. Forgot to take pics of the desserts, but enjoyed a medley of Black Forest cake, Apfel Streusel and Käse Kuchen. Draft beers rounded out the meal perfectly. Dankeschoen Schmankerl Stube!!!

Such a great gem in Hagerstown. The food is authentic German and quite tasty as well. The beer is also traditional and comes in the giant steins Germany is famous for. We got way too much food but managed to eat most of it because it was so good. The wursts sample platter was a huge winner and included delicious dips for the sausages. The spaetzle was amazing. We tried both the cheesy one and the plain one. The streudel was delicious and the whole thing was a great night.

Fantastic German cuisine in the heart of the Hub City. We made a reservation for 4:00p on Sunday, which wasn't really necessary. Inside is warm, cozy, and inviting. Our server was cheerful and pleasant. Meal was Goulash Soup, Smoked Salmon plate, Wurst Platter, and Schweibraten. Everything was fresh, delicious, and satisfying. Def worth a try!

In the words of Sgt Schultz, i know nothing. 1. The empty beer arrived that way 2. The Salmon Appetizer was pre-eaten Okay, so we wandered over to Hagerstown to run a few errands. We decided to enjoy lunch. From that point on, all activities will be unclear. 1. The food was amazing. 2. I have to say the Mashed Potatoes were the best I've had in a long time. 3. The Salmon (appetizer) was the perfect mix of smoked Salmon. 4. The desert should be and probably is illegal in at least 48 states and 23 countries (oh my). Our server was awesome and explained everything. The beer was simply out of this world (I mean, German beer is awesome). This is a we will be coming back place!

Absolutely loved this place. A total must-go in Hagerstown! It's an authentic Bavarian restaurant with draft German beers and lovely food. The service is quick and accommodating for both small groups like ours or larger groups. Very friendly staff who check on you. Everything we ate was awesome. Would recommend the combo platter and Black Forest cake.

The service was excellent! They bring over the entire tray of dessert making it difficult to say no. I'd say their food is okay - I was hoping for it taste similarly to the food in Germany but was slightly disappointed. The Wiener schnitzel wasn't as how I remembered it tasting like. Overall, I didn't love the food but the desserts are delicious!

Bayerische Schweinebraten with green beans, spätzle, and rotkohl/blaukraut. (We had already started eating!)

Is there covered outdoor seating at this restaurant?

The food was delicious! I started with the French onion soup to start, it was great and topped with not only the cheese it had fried onions on top which gave it a nice crunch. After all that I gave in and ordered the apple strudel ala mode, very tasty, and a nice crust! Overall the whole experience was great! Worth the hour and a half ride. The place was busy (as to be expected on a Saturday night) but they were well staffed. Service was excellent! I wish I could remember our server's name. She was very attentive and had no problem keeping up with my boyfriend drinking gallons of tea. I tried it, I can see why, they have really good sweet tea!! I had the BEST Hefeweizen and we started with an order of calamari to share which was cooked perfectly. It was served with some sort of mayo-based sauce which I don't like, so I asked the server if they had cocktail sauce. "We don't.....but I think I can make you some!" She came back a few minutes later with a cup of cocktail sauce they whipped up for me!!! For entrees, he ordered the filet. It was a beautiful cut of steak, tender, and cooked perfectly. I was craving fish n chips but my friend had demanded I try the jagerschnitzel....so I ordered both lol. I'm going to have leftovers for days and I'm not mad about it!! Both meals were incredible and very generous portions. Fish was perfectly crispy and the gravy on the jagerschnitzel....mmm....I don't even have words! The beer selection is awesome, they have an exceptional Heffervisen. However, the service has always been sketchy. I'm giving it a one star because this last experience earned it. We were seated at a table that lines up against the wall, guy brought water over, and then nothing. No one ever talked to us or even acknowledged our presence. There were not a lot of customers and most of the staff were very busy on their cell phones. After 10 minutes we talked to a busboy, I think, because they don't seem to have a uniform, and asked if we even have a waiter or waitress. He went over to the hostess (only person that actually did their job) and it looked like he yelled at her. Lot of finger pointing. After another 7 minutes (I timed it) we called it and were starting to get up when the water guy came over to take our order. We said not a chance, thanks, goodnight. Both my wife and I have worked in the service industry, we treat staff well, we tip well at 30% at least, and we don't bitch a lot. When I write a critique it's usually in the hopes that the manager or owner will reach out, say they are making corrections, and then we will try it again. If there is nothing then that's exactly how much of our business they get in the future. Easy fixes, pick a uniform, train your staff, manage your staff, and make sure they keep their cell phones out of sight of the customers, no one wants to see that. Thanks, hope to hear something back.

Our assigned server only came to our table twice--once to take our order and once to drop off the check. It was another staff member who actually provided a majority of the service - she brought us warm bread, delivered our food, and refilled our drinks multiple times. When it came time to pay, I paid in cash using a larger bill. The server assumed I was giving a large tip and was about to walk away with no intention of giving me my change. I made no comment of "keep the change" I then had to awkwardly ask for my change back so I could leave a tip separately. He proceeded to ask how much change I wanted, putting me on the spot and feeling pressured to leave a large tip (mind you, I was going to already leave a tip). Because of this, I ended up leaving a much larger tip (over 50%) than I had intended, especially considering the level of service he provided us. I understand that I could have been more firm about asking for all my change back, but guests should never feel pressured or uncomfortable when paying. Overall, the service experience with our waiter overshadowed what could have been an otherwise enjoyable visit.
