I have to say that this place hands down is the best biscuit and gravy I have ever had. The biscuits are huge as well. They are equivalent to the size of two normal sized biscuits. The white sausage gravy is a nice compliment to the biscuit. I also tried the corned beef hash. This dish provided an excellent flavor and the corned beef was so juicy and tender. This is a fun little nostalgic place with the rock and roll memorabilia theme. The service was very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant when you are in Petaluma. read more

Tiffany S. (Owner) let's tell the truth about what happened. I'm one of the older ladies at the table and no one was bullying your staff. The initial waiter (your daughter?) was clearly already stressed and overwhelmed before she even finished taking our orders. She had gotten drinks for everyone at our table except the hot tea for Vanessa. When asked a couple times for the hot tea Vanessa was told the "water was boiling". Vanessa wasn't feeling well so her mom asked Mary if she could just go grab the hot tea because the waiter started taking orders for a table of 11 adults BEFORE grabbing the tea. The waiter was so stressed about Mary getting up to grab the tea she couldn't even concentrate on taking our orders properly anymore. We were a difficult table in the sense half of us wanted specific requests for our dish and Vanessa may have looked irritated she hadn't gotten her tea yet, but we never said anything to the waiter that could have upset her. She may have heard us discussing the fact that she told Vanessa it was boiling and when Mary came back with the hot water for the tea she said it was in a holder you just flip the handle to poor the hot water. The fact that she left and went to the back and cried is not our doing. She was clearly already overwhelmed just taking our orders. When our food came out and 4 of the dishes were incorrect we were simply asking for them to be corrected. It wasn't our fault the orders were not taken correctly and if wanting what we ordered is being difficult you should reconsider the business you chose to be in. Even with all of the errors on the orders everything would have been fine if one of the owners (was that you Tiffany?) hadn't sat down at a table across from where we were sitting and started bad mouthing our table to the other owner. When I heard her doing this so loudly we could hear everything she was saying along with the table next to us, I was flabbergasted. I think I may have even said out loud, "Is she talking shit about us?" At that point she got up and approached our table in a very aggressive manner and started defending her daughter and blaming us for being difficult and rude. She at one point was very close to Vanessa waving her finger and called her "weird" and rude. Vanessa asked her to please step away from her as she felt she was too close and being too aggressive. This went on for way too long and should have never happened in the first place. I apologized to the table next to us and they all said we shouldn't apologize that they felt the behavior of the owner was very uncalled for. I don't live in Sonoma, we were visiting family from out of town. I will say my food was delicious and they did fix the errors in my plate to my satisfaction, but Vanessa knew her burger didn't look right and was trying to show them. Turns out she was served a veggie burger when she ordered a turkey burger. So I guess I'm just trying to say, if you ever have a difficult table again and feel like talking crap about them, you may want to do that where the people you are degrading cannot hear you. Sometimes it's better to just keep your mouth shut and walk away. read more

I'm honestly still very hurt by what happened here. I came to this restaurant with my family expecting a normal meal. Instead, I left feeling embarrassed and bullied by the owner. I ordered a turkey burger with onion rings, something I have ordered here before. When the food came out, it looked completely different from what I expected. Later when we looked at the receipt, we realized it actually said veggie burger, not turkey burger. I was also given fries instead of onion rings. At first they told me they would bring more pesto because the burger was lightly pesto. By the time the pesto finally came out, the burger had already been sitting in front of me for quite a while and the rest of the order was still wrong. At that point I was honestly just over it and asked to send it back. The situation escalated when the owner began loudly talking about our table to another table nearby. People sitting next to us were looking over because they could clearly hear everything she was saying about us. Then the owner walked over to our table and got in my face, pointing her fingers at me and yelling that we were a difficult table and that we had made her daughter cry (the server). During this confrontation she called me "weird" and a "bitch." I was completely shocked. I had never been spoken to like that by a business owner in my life. How is it that I go to a restaurant, simply order food, and end up being bullied and called names by the owner because my order was wrong? I was the one who walked away crying because I could not believe how the situation was handled. No customer deserves to be treated like that, especially over mistakes that were made by the restaurant. Mistakes with food happen. But calling a customer names and confronting them aggressively is never okay. At the end of the interaction, you mentioned that if I gave you my phone number you would send me the video footage. I would gladly like to see that. We stopped at Sax's Joint for brunch and were so happy we did since our friend in the area recommended this spot! There was no wait for a table of 2 at 12:30pm on a Sunday and we got seated in their back room. They have cool retro decorations that add to the diner vibe and friendly service which made it really feel like a local spot. I ordered the eggs with sausage links, hash browns, and the homemade biscuit. My boyfriend got the french toast that came toasted with cinnamon sugar and topped with their marionberry cream cheese. Everything tasted high quality and homemade, I LOVED their homemade biscuit, it might be the best I've ever had. It was so fluffy and moist on the inside, while maintaining a good crust on the outside. The eggs also tasted high quality, which I really appreciated in a time where eggs = $$$. The hash browns were clearly freshly cooked to a crispy outside and soft potato inside. The french toast was unique and balanced well with the cinnamon sugar and marionberry cream cheese. We didn't think it needed syrup at all, it was perfectly sweet with a slight tang. With a coffee and apple juice, the bill came out to $45 before tip which was so reasonable for the quality of food. One of the best 50s Style dinners in America! Went to Bodega Bay for a week get away, stop had breakfast, pancakes with a huge bowl of vanilla frosting. It was absolutely delicious. I had the sausage patties and eggs with the biscuits and gravy in it too was amazing. It was so good. We drove the extra 30 minutes from bodega Bay back to Petaluma to have it again and then a week later we drove on our way out we stopped and had it again. The people are super friendly. Great breakfast in the North Bay! We tried a lot of items while on a family roadtrip. The seating is a bit tight, but it's worth it. FYI, no strollers per restaurant policy. Came here today with my 2 sons and enjoyed it. Service was excellent, we were greeted with smiles and quickly seated. The place wasn't super busy, and the vibes were good. Our food came out swiftly and was nice and hot. Our server checked in and made sure everything was great. I ordered the crab cake melt with fries and my son ordered the biscuits and gravy, with 2 eggs and sausages with a cookies and cream milkshake. The serving sizes are very generous. Wow! How is it that I am a third generation Marin native and didn't know about this place?! Stopped in for a late Friday lunch and ordered the Pesto Burger. This monumental burger, cooked, as ordered, to medium rare perfection, blew me away! All ingredients balanced nicely - not too much pesto (which can overwhelm), a generous helping of perfectly ripe avocado, ripe tomato slices, red onion and fresh lettuce. The fries were hot, crispy and SO tasty. The bun was toasted and completely complimentary to the burger. The portions were huge, so much so I could not finish the burger, which is rare. I felt like I had been invited to a friend's house for lunch and my friend was an excellent cook with a sense of decor that matched my quirky, whimsical, retro tastes. Classic rock appropriately filled the kitschy pink and black, shabby chic (a very good thing) space. Even the bathroom felt like the bathroom at a friend's - a vanity replete hair dryer and the usual vanity items but clean and welcoming. There are multiple seating options - counter, front room, back room and a covered outside alley (which is where I sat). I could just come and hang out here. My server, Rosie, was so kind, familiar, cute and totally on top of it. We were on the same wave length. Thank you Rosie! I loved the menu and will absolutely return. Horrible. I wanted to love this place, but the service we received and witnessed today was genuinely disappointing. The energy felt off from the moment we tried to order drinks, despite the restaurant not being full our server seemed more interested in other things than actually taking care of us. When we tried to order, she cut us off twice to rush off. The breaking point, however was the owner's behavior. In the middle of waiting for our meals, the owner started reprimanding a nearby table, accusing a couple of the guests of being "difficult." The poor customers looked absolutely stunned; they were sitting there with a young child seemingly unsure of what they had done that warranted such a hostile response from the owner. It was uncomfortable to witness management project internal stress onto customers in such a public and aggressive manner. It's unfortunate because the food might have been good, but the attitudes, inattentive service, and unhinged behavior from the owners ruined the afternoon. A busy shift is never an excuse for a lack of basic courtesy, especially in front of families. Due to this unprofessional experience, I cannot recommend this establishment and will not be returning. read more

I love a classic diner and this one is as good as it gets! We were in town for the lacrosse tournament and I found this spot based on Yelp reviews. We had a group of 5 and were nervous to come as walk-ins on a weekend since they don't take reservations. 2 friends got there at 9:45am and put our names down. The inside feels like a typical diner with staff running around, everyone in matching black + pink diner t-shirts, photos and oddities lining the walls, a visible opening into the kitchen where you can see the cooks working hard...it all has a laid back and comfortable vibe that makes you feel welcome! The staff were all friendly and attentive to our needs. The menu is huge, it was hard to make a decision. 2 of my friends started with mimosas which came out in mason jars with a bright pink sugar rim! I got one of the breakfast combos that came with eggs, bacon, country potatoes topped with sour cream & green onions, and a homemade biscuit! So much food for $15! Everybody in my group loved their food, it was all delicious and came with great serving sizes. I got a cinnamon roll togo, it was massive and oh so good! I wish this diner was closer to where I live, I would definitely be a regular here! They have some unique breakfast items that I would love to try in the future. We were driving through town and my husband was starving so I looked up what was near us. Cute little retro cafe that had all the feels. I ordered the crab cake Benedict with the eggs poached hard. And hubby had the French toast. His French toast was super yummy and he was super pleased, until he overheard the waitress telling the table next to us the specials. Whatever he heard he said, that's what he would have ordered but we were never told there were any specials. He still liked what he had but was disappointed. My food came out cold!
