Gotta do another review here a year later because this remains my favorite authentic, local Thai restaurant. I get to-go here often as well and it is always correct, tasty, and consistent! Eating here while the food is fresh-out the kitchen is always a treat so here's my review from last night. The phone did not eat first tonight.... We started with an appetizer of spring rolls and krab ragoons. Both came out piping hot and SO perfectly crispy. The duck sauce with the spring rolls and sweet chilli sauce with the ragoons pairs incredibly with both. For our meal, my bf and I shared a huge portion of the sweet and sour chicken. This is our favorite entree here and it never disappoints. The veggies in the sauce are so amazing too! The restaurant was packed on a Saturday night and we were still sat and served immediately. There is always the same, kind server -she's the best. It was only her for to-go, serving, and bussing/setting tables....now that's impressive!! The restaurant isn't the fanciest, but the food and quality makes up for any imperfections. Great for a casual date night around the beach. read more

I love Sawaddee Thai & Sushi Restaurant in Normandy. It's been one of my favorite Thai spots in Miami for years. One of the best parts is that it's BYOB since they don't sell alcohol, which makes it a fun and relaxed spot to bring a bottle and enjoy dinner. The food is always amazing--the sushi is fresh, and the noodle dishes come out hotttt and full of flavor. It's a cozy neighborhood gem and easily one of my go-to places in North Beach when I'm craving Thai food. read more

Pretty good Thai food! Seemed family run. The pad Thai was flavorful, as expected, and felt the tofu protein nicely made. It was my first time trying a crispy snapper curry, and enjoyed it too! I'd reorder the papaya salad, but the soup wasn't for me (my friend enjoyed it). Service was friendly, at times a little absent. Nice interior. I think you could get by casual here. read more

I hear so many great things about this place but unfortunately I have not had the best experience with it. I love the energy of the place and the staff are very welcoming but I have concerns. I have a tree nut allergy and I noticed the menu does have specific items that have cashews(my specific allergy). When ordering togo I not it and call the restaurant to make sure this is not and issue and to question about cross contamination. I have been assured by the restaurant that it is safe and have gotten good with cashews in it, even though it's not even in the dish. I have also gotten cross contamination from other times I ate there. It's no longer worth the risk but I am disappointed by the way they handled things. Also, the Tom Gar soup fell far short of expectations. Real bummer. read more

This Thai spot was surprisingly good!! I noticed in Miami the Thai places have sushi. Weird combo for me. Since we were in the mood for Thai, that's what we got! The place is medium-sized with prompt and attentive service. I forgot to take photos because we were so hungry and parking took a while...difficult to find!! Here is what I liked and enjoyed: spring rolls, papaya salad, red curry, garlic delight. My family ordered other dishes that I did not sample. All the dishes weee good and if you ask for spicy, you truly get it. I like that. There are plenty of tables. Nice decor. Smells authentic. It was a win! read more

I always go here for new years and my birthday and they never fail to present amazing service. I believe there is only 1 server and they are absolutely amazing, they even remembered the dish I always get. The food is out of this world, I will say there are things I personally don't like but my family loved it. The food isn't for everyone and you shouldn't rate bad for that. The inside of the restaurant is like any other place, it is a little small but otherwise it's calm and cozy. read more

I'm just learning about Thai food. It's quite a complex cuisine. We'd heard this was a good place - it was ok. I had the Pad-See-Ew - a dish with chicken, noodles, and vegetables; The sauce was particularly tasty. My husband enjoyed one of the curries with tofu. Our daughter ordered a dish with rice noodles and beef; actually we switched dishes as hers was not satisfying. As they say on the cooking shows, it was not toothsome! Service was very good, but the atmosphere was not comfortable. The large of two rooms was way too cold; I had to order tea for us to get warm. I stopped by this past Sunday , since I was craving Thai and wanted to try a new spot. Tucked away from the 71 St causeway and next to a municipal parking lot, Sawaddee seemed like a cool hidden gem for Thai cuisine. My final analysis: it's a cool neighborhood spot and if you're not in a hurry. I stuck to my usual dishes and have no complaints on the flavor. After getting my server's attention in a relatively empty restaurant, I started off with their steamed pork gyoza. The noodle's texture was just perfectly chewy, the greens fresh and the sauce delish. As it were, I ordered an extra sauce for my fried rice. While tasty, I was told I could get only a vegetable fried rice and not a chicken one. Their volcano chicken was my main dish, with kudos to the chef on the sauce as it was perfectly spicy! It was served on a bed of steamed vegetables and the sauce on the side. The tempura ice cream was yummy as well. Again, the food was pretty good. My only complaint was really on the time between dishes and getting attention. read more

Sawaddee is a small Thai restaurant in Normandy Village. Parking is available in the paid lot behind the building (it's free in the evening hours) and a few spots on the street. No alcohol is served. You enter and your nostrils are filled with the tangy aroma of fish sauce & various other savory scents-always a good sign. Like most FL Thai places, they have both Thai and sushi. Pre-Covid Sawaddee had a really good lunch menu at affordable prices. I haven't been here for lunch since the pandemic, so I don't know what it's like now, but will update my review when I do. I recently went for dinner. The entrees on their dinner menu are a bit pricey. However, we found some affordable apps to try as a meal-fried tofu, papaya salad, and Tom kha kai soup. I will be back soon for the papaya salad and soup. Get the papaya salad medium and the soup mild. The salad has a delicious, spicy kick and the soup cools down your taste buds with tasty flavors of coconut milk, fresh veggies, and chicken. I went on a night when the small dining room was almost full and there was an endless string of takeout orders. There was one person taking orders, working the register, taking orders, and running food....and service did not suffer! read more

We came here for a celebratory dinner. They were pretty busy between in person orders and then orders that were coming in for pick up or delivery. Masks are required. Staff was friendly. Think i only saw one girl working the front register and taking all the orders. She was really hustling around. She was very helpful though in helping me find something that would be gluten free and vegan. They had a very LARGE menu. They would like folks to have the option of scanning the QR code. However none of our phones do that so thankfully they had a hard copy menu that they were able to bring us. Their food was very very tasty and good! Portion sizes were good. We all left very full. Even my teens were stuffed. There is a little lot for parking right next to their location and thankfully parking there was actually affordable. I paid 35 cents for 90 minutes. Way more reasonable than most of the other parking i paid for while in miami. read more

Enjoyed Sawaddee for take out and it had everything you look for in a solid Thai food haul. The portions are really ample and the food super tasty. We ordered Shrimp Pad Thai, Massaman Curry, something with beef that I can't remember, papaya salad and wakame salad too. There were most definitely leftovers and everything was solid. While we didn't order, the menu also has a variety of sushi available. Always a good option when one person can't decide if they want Thai or sushi (which tbh I always want sushi). Sawaddee is on my list of regular restaurants to go to in the Miami Beach area. It's located probably a mile west of Collins and 69th Street in a small strip mall, and we've been going to Sawaddee for 3-4 years now. The restaurant is really small, with about 15 tables or so, and is really cozy and relaxing. They also allow BYOB with no corkage fee which is a major plus! - we always bring a bottle of wine :) One time we brought white wine and they offered a bucket of ice for an additional $5 charge, and we declined, so now we typically just bring red wine. The restaurant also has an expansive non-alcoholic beverage selection. For food, we always order the Coconut Shrimp ($7.95) - and it is absolutely amazing, very flavorful with very large shrimp. We also order the steamed pork Gyoza ($6.95) - and they are also very good as well. For entrees, we typically mix it up - most recently I ordered the Macaroni Pad Thai with chicken ($15.95) - this is my favorite, but most times we go they are out of it. They have the small elbow macaroni noodles in the dish, and is a great new way to enjoy Pad Thai! If they have it when you go, you have to try it! My partner ordered the Pad See Ew with chicken $14.95, and loved it as well. Each dish we usually order is usually a large portion, and everything is very fresh. Service is always very friendly and very efficient, and it's always a great experience. If you're in the mood for good Thai food and are in the area, give them a shot! read more

We decided to come in here for dinner since it's been a while. I had sushi here other times and they were very good. Its byob and we brought wine for our dinner. It was pretty busy as usual. We got chicken satay and sashimi for appetizer. It was ok. I was craving thai curry so I got red curry with fried snapper. I wish I had known that it was gonna be drenched in curry I wouldn't have ordered. Curry was different, it had purple grapes and pineapple chunks. It's almost too sweet. The fish's skin was still in tack which made me hard to eat. It became soggy and not very pleasant in texture. Maybe steamed would've been better choice. As for other entree Garlic chicken was ok. This place is really really good. It definitely is a hidden gem in the north shore/ bay village area. I've dined in twice here and it never disappoints. From their sushi to curry, they have something for everyone. We went with three dishes this time around. The green curry, massaman curry, and a more savory dish the basil beef. All so good. I was surprised they weren't that spicy this time around but easily resolved, just ask for some spice. They give you powder and sauce. Since they don't have a liquor license, they allow you to bring in your own bottles of wine without a corkage fee! Smart move. We stayed more and ordered more. Tempura cheesecake was so good. Finally found my go-to Thai place in the neighborhood I don't think they accept reservations (perhaps for bigger groups), but we were just fine for 2 people on a Saturday night. This place doesn't serve alcohol, but it's BYOB with no corkage fee. We wanted some Pinot noir to pair with the Thai spices, so we grabbed a bottle from the liquor store down the street. The service is great and very welcoming and knowledgeable on all of their dishes. What we ordered: 1. Tom Yum Kong soup - SO good. I love lemongrass so the sweet and spicy in this soup was just perfect. Very flavorful. 2. Spicy Basil Duck - an absolute must. crispy and delicious. comes with a side of white rice. 3. Kaow Pad Poo - pairs really well with the duck. The portions are huge, so we had plenty of leftovers to take home after ordering those three dishes. I will definitely be back here! read more

Hands down my favorite Thai restaurant. I live outside the county about 45 minutes away however I don't mind the drive. Its a small place but it's packed with flavor. My wife and I absolutely loveeeee this place. We've been several times already since moving to the area a little over a year ago and they are always on point. The vibe is super laid back, but at the same time nice enough for a romantic little date night. The food is exploding with delicious flavors and spices that only legit Thai dishes can deliver. We didn't have any appetizers but for the beef salad Thai style. It was very different and delicious! Lots of beef with onions, cucumber, tomatoes and lettuce. It is cold too, hence salad. Asked for it hot as the spicelevel but it wasn't very hot. Also got the crispy red snapper curry. Oh my! This was so good!!! And they got the spice right with this! It went very well with the grapes and pineapple in the curry!! Mind you, it did have veggies in it too, not just fruit. Then to finish we had the Thai donuts. I dream about these sometimes.
