It was about a 10 minute walk from our AirBNB off Washington Ave and 12th. It was surprisingly empty, except for 2 other customers, so service was quick! Our server and sushi chef were pretty quiet, but that was okay. I loved the mural on the wall. We ordered a few different rolls including their special rolls, and everything was delicious! This place was a pleasant surprise. Located on Washington in the heart of South Beach, I would not have thought that I would be able to get quality sushi at reasonable prices. I came in here after a night of looking at art and in search of a quick bite. I almost walked right past it, on the Monday night I went in there was no one in the restaurant. At first I thought it might have been closed. Once inside we were greeted right away and given menus. My friend doesn't really do sushi but she ordered the shrimp tempura roll and devoured it. I had the tuna Cali roll and I have to say it was fresh, simple, and delicious. The restaurant is rather small but gives a cozy feel. The place is open late and a few blocks from the beach. The sushi is prepared carefully and delicate cuts and taste very good. I had a bowl of soup, sashimi, and a special roll. EVERYONE STAND CLEAR. The ONLY reason I am giving Sushi Song a ONE STAR review is because of HOLLY THE WAITERESS. For a sushi spot on the strip, this place clearly had no sense of hospitality. Holly tried to upsell every single dish and made us feel uncomfortable with smart remarks if we didn't comply. She even brought us two beers that we didn't order and got upset when we said to take them back. To worsen the situation, when my friend tried to order the filtered sake, Holly insisted that she get the unfiltered version. My friend obliged but said if she didn't like it she would switch to the regular filtered sake. The waitress brought out the beer and my friend didn't like it. When we tried to send it back, Holly refused and said "I'm not taking that back. Your gonna have to swallow that down". We were all appalled at her lack of customer service. She continued to argue that the unfiltered sake, which was not what my friend had initially chosen, was an acquired taste, and for us to give more "food for thought" before we "take a suggestion from someone". She even told us "opinions are like ass holes everyone has one". Despite her distasteful attitude, we decided to try to order more food. When we got her attention, she acknowledged us only to walk out the restaurant to hug a man smoking a cigarette. By this point, we were no longer interested in patronizing this establishment. We asked for the bill and for the imposed items to be removed from the check and we were met with more rude comments. One of my friends felt so uncomfortable, he left the table to go sit in the car. When Holly brought the check, we politely tried to tell her how dissatisfied we were with our experience but she kept cursing at us and cutting us off. She told us to write a review if we were unhappy with the service. For the first time in my life, I walked out on a check. I have never been treated, talked to, belittled, or dismissed in a restaurant like how I was today. The sad part is THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! Found this small sushi bar (only one table) when visiting Miami Beach. Very nice proprietor and the sushi was very good. They also had a spicy miso which was unique and quite good as well. I went here at a late time in the night to satisfy a craving, and it did just that. The service was great and I liked how it's a small intimate setting where they make the sushi in front of you. If you're a sushi person like I am, you can tell the quality of fish wasn't as fresh as nobu or an omakase restaurant, however they have a large selection to choose from to satisfy a craving. Pretty good price for sushi in south beach! I dined here with one other on a Wednesday night, and we were able to sit down very quickly. Most of the seating here is bar space, so there was a large group that left because they wanted a table setting. The gyoza was awesome, with a spicy dipping sauce. We got two hand rolls and two rolls, which were pretty good for the price we paid (and we watched the friendly chef prepare them!) Service was fabulous - the waitress was social and very attentive, and got us everything we needed very quickly. WORST DINING EXPERIENCE I EVER HAD! My friends and I (group of 6) randomly chose 'Sushi Song' because we love sushi and it was on the strip. HOLLY, the waitress was unfiltered! Cursed at my friends as soon as they walked in, making them feel instantly uncomfortable. My friends and I all come from a restaurant industry background so we understand the downsides to servicing customers but not once were we rude or asking too much. We tried to give her the benefit of the doubt but every turn she chose to prove to us why she was right, when she was in the wrong. The sad part about this entire experience is that the sushi was delicious. We were ready to buy over $200 worth of sushi and possibly come back. But this ENTIRE experience was damaged because of one unprofessional, aggressive, rude waitress named HOLLY!!! Well, the water was delicious. Don't believe the hype. I've eaten sushi in over 200 establishments and this was the worst. Worse than gas station sushi. The first thing that tipped us off was the sound of the microwave cooking, then "ding!" I thought it must be a toaster oven used to warm the shrimp tempura. But my dining companion insisted she saw three bags of rice coming out of the microwave. The shrimp tempura and spicy tuna rolls were bad, but mostly because the rice was still very warm (warmer than Miami room temperature; yuck!). The Japanese Bagel lacked salt and flavor entirely. The spicy tuna hand roll looked appetizing but had a bizarre flavored sauce; we asked and the "chef" said it was Kimchi... We finished most of it but because it was 5 PM and we hadn't eaten lunch. No other customers should have tipped us off. The ding of the microwave should have sent us running. We paid because we ate, but honestly they'd have to pay us to ever return. read more
