April 21st, 2016. My wife's car battery was completely dead, so I called AAA. They promptly sent Byron in under 30 minutes. He had a little machine that confirmed the battery was dead and "needs replacement". Thankfully, Byron carries one in his truck and replaced it within 10 minutes. Someone from this company replied to my post from A YEAR AGO - today. Here's what I can see. Just a week ago, another poster had equally horrible service and communication from Save Tow. Get your act together! In his comments to my post he wrote, "We do the best we can to maintain contact with the AAA members to inform them of their call status and estimated time a driver will arrive. I am sorry we were unable to get to you sooner." If you consider NEVER calling me to update me doing the best that you can - then your best is an absolute train wreck. Had I not called over and over and over again, I never would have known when someone MIGHT come to assist me. Sitting in a truck for 3-1/2 hours in 108 degree heat while waiting for someone to MAYBE call you back is never going to be my definition of trying your best. read more

If I could give Save Tow a negative rating, I would. Not unlike the other yelpers that have complained about negative experiences via AAA, I am here to complain about the horrible roadside service I received. Being absent minded, I accidentally locked my keys in the car. Of course I called AAA to come to the rescue. Twenty minutes passed before I received a phone call notifying me of the driver's arrival. They sent out an incompetent man from Save Tow whom I watched spend all of fifteen minutes attempting to unlock my door. This simple task should have taken no more than two minutes for someone who actually knew what they were doing. Anyway, as I watched him shove a long narrow tool into the window sealing, I thought to myself, 'I hope he knows what he is doing...'. Eventually he unlocked my door and I drove home. The next morning I attempted to unlock my driver's side door but it wouldn't open! My key wouldn't even turn! I immediately knew that the dumby from the night before was responsible for my broken lock! I called AAA to file a complaint. The representative was rude and not at all compassionate. She told me I needed to contact Save Tow and give them an opportunity to rectify the situation once they determined whether or not they were responsible for the damage. I called Save Tow and spoke to the repair manager, George. Bitchass, George. I will explain further how he earned this title with me. I spoke to him and explained the situation. Initially George was understanding and told me that I could take my car to a local shop since I reside outside of Livermore and that he would arrange payment for my repairs. I was relieved thinking that this unnecessary situation wouldn't become a huge inconvenience. The next morning, I called George and told him that I was en route to get my car repaired and to expect my call shortly. I went to my appointment at the Toyota dealership. The man assisting me said that the estimate for the diagnostic was $100. When it came time to sign paperwork, I called George to update him on the costs. He proceeds to tell me, "Why would you take your car to the dealership? If you go to a dealership they will try to rip you off! Everyone knows that they will charge you 2-3 times more! It's too expensive. You did not tell me you were taking your car to a dealership." At this point I excused myself to step outside and continue this conversation. I was livid. I responded, "I took my car to the dealership because that is where I am most comfortable taking my vehicle to be repaired! I did not tell you where I was taking my car, nor did YOU outline any of your conditions or stipulations. But let's not forget that YOUR employee messed up MY door, so I should be able to take my car wherever I want to be serviced. In fact, this is an unnecessary repair and I am now wasting my time!" He interrupted to say, "No, what are you talking about? This type of thing happens all of the time." "No! I shouldn't have to drive all around town to find a shop to get my car fixed because your company made a mistake! What exactly is my incentive as the customer to save you money?! If I take my car to another shop we will NOT have this conversation again. Correct?! You will pay for the repairs?! Correct?!" I had to brace myself from using any profanity because I was so insulted by his audaciousness. He responded shortly, "Yes." At that point I hung up the phone and went back inside ranting to the man behind the desk. Of course, he agreed with me and told me that he completely understands my frustration and wished me well. I went back to my car, called AAA again, and followed up with my complaint. The representative was quite helpful and filed a claim. She said it would take between 3 and 5 business days before someone contacts me. ...Long story short, AAA did not do anything beyond documenting my complaints and was not going to further assist me in that moment. I went to another shop that determined that the idiot driver from Save Tow had broken a latch. The part was ordered and I will return in a few days to get the repairs. Sigh. read more

My vehicle was taken to this facility after a collision that landed me in the hospital. AAA asked me to contact them the following day and release the vehicle. At great inconvenience and pain on my part I took a cab there to release the vehicle and gather my belongings. I stated this to them clearly when I arrived and they intentionally only gave me the forms for releasing my personal items and DID NOT have me sign off the vehicle so that they could charge many more days storage. I was told by AAA that this is a frequent scam pulled by them. Be very aware that they are scamming you because it is likely that you will not have a choice of where your car is taken to begin with. read more

Save Tow is just horrible. I don't know why aaa is even contracted with them. They lie and take hours and I mean hours to finally show up. I used my aaa roadside assistance twice now and both times had to go through save tow since they are contacted with aaa in our area. First time I called 9am and aaa said save will be there in 1 hour to tow your car. Ok that's not bad, 1 hour later I a little pick up shows up. Hi I'm here to service your car... He can't tow it but he's here just to say hi and tell me I got to wait another hour. So I wait and wait and until 5PM when the actual tow truck finally shows up. I waited 8 hours! That was the first time. Today same thing I call aaa and they tell save tow will be there and once again the little pick up shows up to say hi, I mean it's just ridiculous. Now once again It's been 4 hours since i called and no tow truck. I called back and ask them what's going and they tell me it's going to take longer. They are not sure when they can tow my car, no time frame at all. I canceled and request for aaa to please find a better tow company to service our area. read more

Major headache. Not only did it take over two hours for them to get to me on the side if the road, they hung up on me twice when I tried to ask where the truck was. We are AAA members, I would recommend AAA to take them off their service list. I called AAA for a battery problem. Tony from SaveTow arrived about an hour later. He was very professional and determined that I needed a new battery. He had one on his truck so I agreed to purchase it and let him install. After an hour went by, he had installed the battery but the car would still not start. They ended up towing the car to their shop, where they discovered a fuse that also needed to be replaced. They called and made arrangements to return the car the next morning. I figured that in spite of being inconvenienced, they had done reasonably well under the circumstances.....until I got in the car. There was a nice big greasy handprint on the fabric just inside my driver side door. I will be lucky if I can get it out. That cost them at least one star, maybe two. read more

I was in need of a replacement for a dead battery in my '01 Toyota Camry. Byron came right out in that familiar yellow Save Tow Truck. The service was professional and quick. Love the fact that he put some cleaner on the contacts of the battery to fight corrosion, not to mention that it was a wet and rainy day. Byron also ran the needed test to find out if anything else in the car had an issue (starter/alternator/etc.) and before he took the battery out, he put a replacement charger in to keep the presets in the Camry going so that I didn't need to reset the radio clock (which is a pain).
