Sean is amazing! He is kind-mannered, punctual, experienced and knows what he is doing. My car got stuck inside the garage in a tricky situation. Sean was able to take care of it easily while other people I spoke with before him did not have a clue. I'm glad I hired R.Lance Towing. read more

The "owner" made it very clear that the hours for picking up the car were from M-F, 9-5. We arrived from Stanislaus County at 4:50 to retrieve our vehicle. The gate is locked and the person who answered the phone (assuming it's the "owner") claimed to be on a "priority" call and we'd have to wait "an hour or hour and a half" and that there was no one who could help us. When I pointed out it's unprofessional and a bad business practice not to have someone who can actually run your business during YOUR STATED BUSINESS HOURS, he hung up on me. Fortunately a man who worked in another yard was able to get us our car, but I would not ever recommend this company for a tow and if it gets towed by them, good luck. read more

God sent! That's how I would like to start this review for R Lance towing. My car needed to be towed from my home to the mechanic so that they can take a look and see what is wrong with it. I actually bought AAA membership to have them tow it and waited 48 hours before my membership was active. AAA came back with a huge bunch of requests and problems for me and I ended up getting a recommendation for R Lance towing. From the moment I met SEAN and the time he actually followed me to the mechanic and dropped me off Sean was anything less than absolutely amazing !!! He was helpful , friendly , kind , courteous and I felt so very comfortable with him. Sean went over and beyond and was able to start my car and I could drive it to the mechanic myself, Sean followed me to the mechanic but did not charge me any money for the service . What amazing, honest service !!! Highly highly recommend!! read more

Sean to the rescue, again! I called R Lance towing as my battery was dead. Sean arrived within 15 minutes, jumped my battery, took a quick once-over of the battery. He took the time to make recommendations. He suggested I drive the car a bit and waited for me to get behind the wheel and out the driveway before he left to his next call. We can always depend on R Lance and Sean to get us back on the road again. read more

I got a flat tonight and the first tow truck I called was not available but they recommended R. Lance Towing and I'm glad they did. The price was reasonable to have my car towed and Kenny who came out to help was very nice, quick and professional. He got to me in 20 minutes and 20 minutes after that it was done. If I am ever in need of a tow truck, I know who to call. read more

I had a very upsetting experience with Central Towing today trying to get my son's bike released after an accident. See yelp review. I called Farmers Mike Mc Gann and spoke with Laurie and she had R Lance on site within 30 minutes. I cannot tell you how relieved I was to see RLance show up. The driver conducted himself in a professional manner and was very understanding. Thank You I can't remember his name. Later today I received a call from Shaun and he wanted to follow up and see that the bike got home and to see how I was doing. Thank you Shaun for being compassionate when I really needed it. Today my Farmers agent and I had a 3 way conversation with CHP and we will be talking with LPD tomorrow. read more

Really helped me out after a hit and run. I would use them again but I hope I don't have to.

My stolen motorcycle was recovered and then towed by R Lance towing. Jeff, the manager, he went me through all the steps and details and helped me with the bike! Don't even think twice, call R Lance Towing if you need any help on the road! I appreciate people like Jeff and wish him business growth! read more

SEAN TO THE RESCUE! It was sunset, just driving our 30' travel trailer off the exit of 580 when... the truck died on the exit ramp. We got a few feet off the road but massive trucks were whizzing by (or stopping short) due to our partial obstruction of the ramp. All this after having driven 8 hours... to be 3 miles from our final destination. ‍ Sean was able to help us get to the service station of our choice without any problems. Fast, courteous, and HYGIENIC service during Covid. Thank you, Sean, for saving Christmas. You're the best! read more

Shoutout to the gentleman from R Lance towing who saw us on New Year's day with a flat tire on the side of Santa Rita road in Pleasanton. He stopped to see if we needed help and provided a good hand to help us figure out how to change the wheel. Thank you for being such a kind and thoughtful person! My family and I are very grateful for your generosity. read more

Sean Hill was amazing and super helpful. We needed a tow for our car last min as one of our tires got disconnected and wasn't responding to the steering wheel. He came out to help us even though he wasn't on duty and was able to get our car to the body shop before they closed. He was really knowledgeable about what was wrong with the car and was very professionall and cheerful. And after he got our car to the body shop he called to let us know everything went smoothly. Hands down the best tow experience I have ever had! I would highly recommend him to everyone. read more

I did not get a chance to use this tow company, but when I was stranded in a town where I didn't live in the middle of the night. I was given vital information which allowed my family and I to get home safely! Thank you for staying on the phone with us, and checking up on us the next day. Above and beyond the call of duty! Not sure if his name is spelled Shawn, or Sean. But thank you again! read more

Sean is awesome. That about sums up my review. Okay fine, here's a blurb. My car needed to be towed from a dealership service center in Burlingame to a mechanic's workshop in Dublin. I called Sean the day before to see if he was available and sure enough, he was. My husband coordinated with him to move to car across the Bay and Sean was on top of it all. Definitely made the towing experience pleasant, is what my husband said. We highly recommend. read more

My brother and I had the misfortune of breaking down on Highway 5, northbound, just south of Kettleman City on Saturday, July 10th at about 5:30 PM. I called AAA, (I have their "Plus Membership") and after 3 hours they were unable to find a truck to accept the tow. Really? It was 108 degrees, no shade and my brother and I are both senior citizens. Not a desirable situation in the least. My brother searched on his phone and found R Lance Towing out of Livermore. He called and one of their tow truck operators, Kenny Rios, answered. He was polite, professional and immediately said he was on the way. He said due to the extreme distance it would be about 2.5 hours. CHP stopped to check on us and informed us southbound 5 was closing at 8:00 PM- (which it now was). That meant R Lance Towing, coming southbound to reach us, would be detoured with all other southbound 5 traffic. That would add about 70 miles to Kenny's trip. I called Kenny back and informed him of the detour. He didn't hesitate for a second and said, "No problem. I am coming." When Kenny arrived he was able to hook my car up and have it loaded, secured and we were on the way home within 10 minutes with no damage at all. Total time stuck on Highway 5 was 7 hours. I can not say enough about Kenny and R Lance Towing. R Lance Towing saved the day for us and Kenny was truly a gentleman, expert tow truck operator and someone I consider a friend after all he did to get us off Highway 5. Thank you R Lance Towing and a special thanks to Kenny Rios. If I could give R Lance 10 stars, I would. Michael H. Alamo, CA read more

We were in the middle of moving, and taking our trailer up to Sacramento to get the rest of our stuff. Coming down the Altamont the trailer popped off the hitch. Called USAA (my insurance) and they connected me with R Lance Towing. Jeff was able to get to us within 30 minutes, which was great timing. Jeff not only helped us put the trailer back on the hitch, he did it very safely and was friendly and great to talk to. I would definitely recommend his company to anyone. Another blow out on the freeway. Different car, different freeway. I don't drive around with bald tires. Nope. I'm one of those people that constantly keeps track of the oil changes, the tread on the tires... but doesn't give a shit about the dog hair in the car. Leaving work the other evening, flying at about 90 mph on 580 approaching Livermore, I heard a 'BOOM'. And then felt a bit of a fish tail. Being a person in total control (this is when you click 'FUNNY'), I grabbed the wheel, and maneuvered the car to the shoulder. Dialed AAA, noted the time (11:46pm), was told that arrival time was about 1:15am. Really, I figured they were giving me a rough estimate and knew the time would be much sooner. Guess what time they arrived. 1:00am? No. Midnight? Nope. 11:51pm. NO SHIT. I was back on the road in minutes. Thanks again, R. Lance! You rock! read more

Thankfully I did not need the services of R. Lance & Sons today...but it was close. My truck broke down on I580 last night and I decided to leave it and return the following day to either see if I could fix it, or have it towed to a local repair shop. At the risk of jinxing myself, I did a little preliminary Yelp! research and picked a tow company and a repair shop. We got to my truck and replaced the fuel filter but it still wouldn't start. As I was prepared for this scenario, I dialed up R Lance and was told a truck would be there in 35-45 minutes...great! About 5 minutes later the dispatcher called me back to let me know that because I was on the side of the freeway, there would be an automatic $200 charge for a high risk or hazardous tow. I asked if this was a mandated fee that everyone would charge or if it was an R Lance policy. The dispatcher couldn't say. He said other tow companies might charge a similar fee and I was welcome to call around to inquire if other companies were cheaper, or I could discuss the fee with the tow truck operator and he could decide whether to waive the fee. This made me think it was a specific R Lance charge. I felt like I was in a bind at this point so I had him send the truck regardless. As we were waiting for the tow, a Freeway Service Patrol (FSP) tow truck pulled up. I was not aware of this free service, but the FSP representative told me he could tow me off of the highway for free! This would save me the $200 high risk charge that R Lance wanted to charge me. Anyway long story short, he did more than tow me off the freeway, he was able to help me get my truck started so I could drive away on my own! ...now back to R Lance. I feel like they probably know about FSP and could have elected to tell me about their services. They chose not to. The bottom line is that I will probably call them next time I need a tow (knock on wood), but I will be more informed next time. And if I'm on a highway, I'll call 511 first to see if a free service is available to me. read more

Person named Matt picked the phone and was not helpful at all. He intentionally did not pick up the phone after recognizing our numbers. Extremely unprofessional person tarnishing the name of this business. Would always look for alternatives! read more

I have had several experiences with R Lance...Most recently was last week. My husbands car has been having problems lately, and he commutes from Stockton to San Jose, and drives to Fresno every other weekend. My husband found himself on the El Charro off of 580 with a sickly car that insisted on resting. Now I know damn near everything about AAA and emergency road service, since they just laid me off after 6 years but, alas...this isn't about me... I know the crap I am about to go through with the people on the phones. Long story short, they put the call through, but not without sad moments. Like when the operator didnt know where El Charro was on EB 580. Ok, it is between Santa Rita and Airway Blvd, Livermore or Pleasanton... I even told the rep the contract station name and their number to send the call through...nope, she is in Arizona and has to find that shit on the map before she sends it...alrighty... My concern was that since I was not with the vehicle, the tow truck driver could have refused my husband service. I could have had to drive to EL CHAAARRROOO from Stockton at 8pm with 3 kids. Thank you for not making me! The tow truck driver arrived, hooked and booked my husband home. Dave the driver was amazingly awesome, provided my husband with some much needed humor and a pleasant ride home. Thank you Dave! Thank you for bringing my husband home safe. Thank you for your AAA stories. Thank you for being a great driver. Also, should you need to call the shop during the day, John the dispatcher is awesome. read more

I have used these guys before when they were AAA company for the area. Recently I needed a tow when my car wouldn't start. AAA referred me to some other company that I've never heard of. I preferred to use R Lance because of past positive experiences, and I wasn't going far. Plus, they are a local business and I would rather spend local any day of the week. The driver showed up in less time than quoted. He was very careful with my car. My repair shop called me 20 minutes later to let me know he was there. I will continue to use R Lance&Sons Towing and recommend anyone in the Tri Valley Area do so as well! read more

If you actually have to call a tow truck service -- which admittedly is about as popular as having to pay taxes -- R. Lance makes the experience painless. They've always been prompt with tows, both from AAA dispatches and direct calls (when I've got problems AAA won't tackle). The drivers are polite, careful with the loading and unloading of vehicles, and prompt -- even when it turns out the first truck can't handle the tow (I have some odd-sized vehicles, and didn't think a big ol' pickup truck with a work body needed the heavy duty hook). read more

I broke down on top of the Altamont last Saturday heading to an event, after waiting at least 2 hours for my insurance tow, we decided to call R Lance Towing, they said 20 minutes and they were there in 20 minutes. Sean was awesome, so helpful and so nice, he even called later to let me know my car had been dropped off and offered any help to get reimbursed by my insurance. Oh and after we were already on our way, the other tow company called and the guy said he was running late and wouldn't be there for another hour Thank you R Lance, will always recommend you read more

A little background. We live in Newark. Our car was in Livermore. 35 miles or about 45 minutes away. I've lived in the East Bay for most of my 41 years. Been to Livermore, maybe 3 times. Driven through it a bunch more, but I have zero experience with any of the business in that town. Similarly with the rest of the Tri-Valley area. Today we had to have our car towed from 580 by the CHP as it had died on the side of the road last night. The CHP had called Allen's Automotive and Towing (1 star) in Livermore and had them take it away. We found out where Allen's was and how much it would cost ($290 total). Yelp reviews for Allen's were horrendous and I already knew they were waaayyy overpriced. So I looked on Yelp and found both a different tow company, R. Lance and Sons, and a different repair place, Cartech Automotive Repair. I then called R Lance and Sons and arranged for them to come to pick up the car once we had gotten it out of hock. They said to call when we were ready. We drove to Allen's, paid them, and then I called RL&S dispatch. They said it would probably be at least an hour and did I still want them to come out. As I'm always told at least 45 mins for a tow, an extra 15 mins is no big. "Yes, please." Bruce showed up 28 mins later according to my phone call log. Woohoo! But. Turns out, Allen's hadn't bothered to tell us that our car was not there. Not even when we handed over $290. Not one word. Bruce had to go ask. According to the blame-game chickie behind the counter at Allen's, _other_ tow companies are just supposed to know to call Allen's to ask where the vehicle is as they have two locations in Livermore. Bruce was so nice, he told us we didn't have to follow him to the actual storage yard, he would go get the car and take it to Cartech (Also found on Yelp.) He knew where it was and would meet us there. Bruce also only charged us $80 for the hookup and tow. Not $210. We followed the useless iPhone Google instructions and got lost on the way to Cartech. (It sent us first to Pleasanton then to _Old_ 1st st in Livermore!) We finally gave up and called Cartech for instructions. The receptionist gave the phone to Bruce to tell us how to get there. Yep. Bruce had already hooked up _and_ dropped off our car by the time we called. Then Bruce went out to the corner to wait for us to flag us down. Thank goodness he did! We would have driven right passed if he wasn't waiting. "I sum up." 1. Showed up in half the time quoted. 2. Courteous and friendly. 3. Extra steps to be helpful. 4. Only $80. Saved $130! Thank you so much, Bruce! read more

Do not come here. They are not a honest business. Our car got stolen and police found it. The car was with this company and we paid full amount two weeks ago to get the car back. My timing belt went out on WB 580, just over the Altmont Pass. I was able to coast into the weigh station. After some tears and numerous phone calls (and foul ups, not his hubbys fault) to my husband, he found R Lance towing. He was told it would be a 20 minutes wait when all others said 3 hours. As soon as I hung up, Sean arrived to save the day. He knew I was upset and a little scared. He got my car loaded up and to mechanic he knew and trusted. Sean did not BS me and gave me the straight poop about approximate costs and stayed with me, telling me jokes, showing me pictures of his dogs, anything really, to keep me from freaking out until my husband could pick me up. Never have I had a tow driver be so courteous, funny, and calming as Sean. Five gold stars for him. He also had no hesitation calling my husband and telling that he's picked me up and that I was safe. If I am ever stranded in Livermore again, I will be calling R Lance Towing. read more
