This is close to our place in Douglas - great beer choices, and in my opinion as an adult who eats like a child, they have the best chicken tenders in the Midwest - they are amazing. Visited this place over the weekend on the way back to Chicago. I'm so glad we got to check it out. We were seated outside on the patio and really enjoyed the weather. For food, we ordered the falafel wrap (not pictured!) which was huge and very filling and the soft pretzel and the fries. Everything was super tasty. I am already a fan of the blueberry lemonade shandy so I decided to try the blood orange blonde ale and really liked it! My husband tried the regular blonde ale and really enjoyed it as well. We visited Saugatuck Brewing Co around 2PM on a Thursday for a late lunch. As we walked up, the music was really loud and an odd, depressing gong-like song played. We were seated straight-away on the patio near a larger party who complained about the horrid music choice. Luckily, the music seemed to change after a while. We weren't offered a high chair by the hostess, but a waitress, who we later found out was not ours (bummer), offered one along with coloring pages for our kiddo. Thank you! Our actual waitress was taking care of us and the aforementioned large table, who was done with their meal but fussing with their checks. Her attentiveness to us was lackluster. Our drinks came after our meal and even then, we had to ask a different waitress for our beers. Sigh. My husband got the tacos, which he truly enjoyed. I got the fried chicken sando and plain fries, which were fried to perfection and the slaw on the sandwich was vinegar-based, which I prefer. Despite the subpar service and ambience, the food was great! The craft beers, the lager and peanut butter stout, left more to be desired. We stopped by Saugatuck Brewing Company on a whim for some appetizers and a cider. We had the most delicious cheese curds! The pull was 12 inches plus! ;) I really enjoyed the cauliflower Asian wings. Super flavorful & delicious! They had amazing hand cut French fries and dry rubbed chicken wings. I washed the tasty appetizers down with the Lucky Stone Cider, nice and delicately sweet with a crisp finish. I will definitely go back for dinner when I visit next time! We LOVE Saugatuck Brewing Company. We have been patrons for years and are thrilled that vaccinations and warmer days have allowed us to safely return! We first discovered the brewery when we stopped for a Saturday tour. If you've never done this tour, we HIGHLY recommend it. I learned SO MUCH information about brewing, beer, and good business. And it was all presented in a fun way WITH plenty of beer samples! Check it out as soon as yours return! After the tour, we discovered the incredible variety of flavorful beers AND the amazing food. We've been hooked ever since. For beers, some of our favorites include the Bonfire Brown, the Blueberry Lemonade Shandy, Oval Beach Blonde Ale, Neapolitan Stout, all of the IPA options, and Blueberry Maple Syrup Stout. There are so many flavorful and bold beers, there is always something new and delicious try, which is why their six 5 oz flights for $14 are SUCH a good deal. With so many beers to try, you'll never get board! Now to the food: it is all delicious. Some of my favorites include the Rueben, the avocado burger, and the pizzas. My spouse loves the cheese curds and the fish and chips. So many good things to eat! You can't go wrong. Plus the prices are great, the staff are wonderfully friendly and welcoming, and everything is up to date and clean. Great outdoor seating. As soon as we saw the sign that said 31 beers on tap and a full menu, my husband hit the brakes pretty hard, and we popped a U turn and pulled into the parking lot. The place itself was pretty cool. It was mostly quiet because of the time of day, but the space inside was so amazing that I'm quite confident that there's no way that that place is quiet all the time. I even saw a sign on the wall that said that you could brew your own beer inside, so that pretty much covers it for me if you're gonna call yourself a brew house. Of course, it was adorned with all the brew house usual items but the way they decorated and organized the rest of the bar and the space, was fun and classy, and yet still felt comfortable enough to let your hair down and enjoy a few. My husband and I both enjoyed the chicken sandwich, and let me tell you.You know if a chicken sandwich is good if you order two of them and they're both totally amazing. Part of me wants to give half of the credit to the chicken, which of course, was tasty and flavourful and juicy, but the other half goes to the chef who knew how to handle that bird so that when we got it, it was delightful, and not just a piece of bird leather. And of course you have to talk about the service if you're going to discuss a restaurant. Service here was pretty good. Our server was actually training another server and so it was almost double the service (except there was a time when they both disappeared and we didn't see them,) but even that seemed somewhat usual in the world of food service. All in all, I would have to say that I was very pleased with this experience and should I ever find myself in this neck of the woods, I would absolutely go back in there and enjoy it. The only hard part about that was, once we continued our journey, we saw about 50 other cute little diners and cafes and nooks and crannies that we may not have enjoyed more but found ourselves also wanting to try. Went there for lunch and sat outside. The outside seating was spacious and nice. We ordered cheese curds, Asian cauliflower, and wings in Asian chili sauce. It was all very good. This is always a solid staple when in the area. Especially on a busy weekend when I don't want to go into town, it's my number one go to.

My inlaws brought us here while we were visiting. Since it was right in the midst of COVID, the first thing I noticed was the measures that were taken to ensure people were safe. There was plexiglass installed in key areas. Everyone was required to wear a mask. Hand sanitizer was readily available. And the menu was only available online (you had to use your phone to look at it). I thought it was well done and equally important, well explained via signs and other cues from our server. Beer-wise, it was fine. I wouldn't say it was great beer, but it wasn't bad. Certainly enjoyable to drink. For food, we had a couple of things... we tried one of the pizzas, which I thought was just OK. But we have very high standards for pizza. The crust was really thick and doughy. We had the roasted cauliflower appetizer, which was pretty good. We had some tacos, which were also good with a nice fresh fruit salsa on top. And we had the wings, which were the hands down table favorite. Our server was very patient and friendly. She also fetched us several samples of beers before we ordered. Very good service. Came out in less than 10 minutes which is amazing. They make their good beer. I and my friend have purchased a case or two to bring back to Chicago. Got a flight of Oval Beach Blonde, Ghost of Neapolitan, Bonfire Brown, Blueberry Maple Stout, BA Chocolate Raspberry, and BA Dramanatrixx. The Ghost of Neapolitan really stood out as this super flavorful white stout beer. Would definitely get again. I also quite liked the Chocolate Raspberry but the Dramantrixx was disappointing i thought, too much coffee. Great value for the flight too! Wife and I split it and it was plenty for lunch. I got the reuben and she got the chicken club wrap. Maybe I had lower expectations, but damn was that reuben good. Loved the rye bread, tons of corend beef and an awesome thousand island. I would get this again in a heartbeat, would seek it out. The chicken club wrap was fine, nothing special but solid. We both upgraded to fries. The fries were amazing and super plentiful. Unfortunately, this place has gone downhill fast. The beer is seriously disappointing. There's not one beer that would ever be anyone's favorite because they are all average. Even if their beer in retail was 50% cheaper it would be hard to buy cause they just aren't really special. The food is just as underwhelming, overpriced for what you get, and lacking any real flavor. Service was fine, but it's clear management isn't keeping up with quality. Wife and I stopped for a quick beer before heading back to our rental property. There was no room to sit inside so we opted for the outside patio. Service was backed up so that quick beer took a little longer to receive than anticipated. The patio was a nice area, but with the sun it was just unbearable to sit outside. My travel thermometer registered over 110* on the table. Umbrellas were not allowed because of some sort of high winds (quite calm the entire time we were there). We moved to the barrel room that was not staffed, but it was much cooler and was a place I would opt for in the future. Beers were just alright. The cotton crusher is their attempt at a sour. However, after the initial sour blast it just falls off in sour and in flavor. read more

I was super excited to come here. They make one of my absolute favorite beers, the Bonfire Brown. So when I saw that this brewery was on our itinerary spots to stop at I was very happy! This was a great brewery. Very big and spacious.! We sat up at the bar but they had plexiglass hanging everywhere. Definitely were being cautious of covid. We enjoyed a couple of beers. Obviously, I had the Bonfire Brown. He ordered their IPA. They had a lot of merchandise for sale so we stopped and checked it out. We grabbed two tagabrews and had our hop passport stamped. This is the kind of brewery that I love. Nothing too commercial, a great brewpub area, and things to do! The back room has darts, shuffle board, and bumper pool. This made for a great start to an epic bachelor party bar crawl. It was also my first time playing bumper pool and it was tons of fun. I have been a fan of Saugatuck Brewing for a while and visiting them in person makes me like them even more. This was our second stop on a multi brewery tour as we traveled up through northwest Michigan. My boyfriend loved the beers he tried here!! He's had the Blueberry Maple Stout and Neapolitan Milk Stout a few times and really likes those, but we can buy that closer to home. Saugatuck has so many more beers that seem to only be available in Michigan or at the brewery. I think his favorite was the Lux 13 and the Ghost of Neapolitan Milk Stout. I have a feeling when we travel through Michigan again, we will definitely stop here again to stock up on some newly discovered favorites! Oh, and the Saugatuck Antique Pavilion is right next door.
