I just love this place! It's small and dainty and had a great happy hour. The cocktails are made very well. The decor is blue and eclectic, and the food is always outstanding! We went with a party of four and had a reservation before the Kravis center for a show. We parked in the parking lot across the street for a small fee. They were speedy without compromising quality! I got the special, snapper over sweet potato puree and I ate every bite! One person got the smash burger and ate every morsel. Another got the po boy with shrimp and he said it was just as good as one from NOLA. They all got fries and said they were some of the best fries! We got two desserts, a bread pudding of some kind and a cobbler. Both were outstanding! We wanted to lick the plate. We've been back several times and will continue to return. The only draw back is the size, the noise level is high, there is only one bathroom so you have to wait and it can get warm because of the open doors. Otherwise, it's a great dining experience!

Nice restaurant with good food without breaking the bank. I recommend trying the pate it was creamy and smooth. I believe the toast is made in house as well. The gochujang pork chop was a nice find that is a good Asian fusion dish that was flavorful, I just wished it was a bit more fatty/juicy. The restaurant decor is interesting with a mix of light fixtures and chairs.

If your looking for place that gives a vibe of dining alongside s beach on a Sunday afternoon then this is the place to be. The place is open, bright and airy. I feel the spots opens up your mood to feel good. The drinks and light and refreshing and the food is southern comfort with a twist. Food 10 Drink 10 Decor 10 Service 10

This was so fun! In a cute area and the seating was very cute. We sat outside and it was not too loud, but beware it's right by the road. Our service was a little slow, but he was very nice. The food was a fun southern twist. I got the shrimp sandwich nothing crazy special but delicious. Got the oysters too and those were very fresh

This was a wonderful dinner spot! We loved the cocktails, its in an active part of town, and the serving staff was fun! The team at Sassafras did a great job with the interior decor- its very cute. It was above casual dining but not formal. The food was delicious- a variation on southern cuisine that wasn't heavy but still had a lot of flavor. The biscuits are a must try and the steak was well cooked and delicious. They also make a great espresso martini!

Amazing service and a super cool spot. Looking for a bite to enjoy with my love before heading on a trip. This place had some great ratings so we gave it a shot. So we ended up going with happy hour plates. My date had a hamburger and I chose the gumbo. Solid stuff but more of a tapas size dish. Great flavors and a great time. We will be back

Had lunch with some friends. Nice airy place. Clean and simple. We got the chicken and waffle, cheeseburgers and fried chicken sandwich. The food was fresh, but the chicken and waffle would be better without the strawberry as it made the waffles soggy. The burger and sandwich were ok.

We sat at the bar for happy hour this past Saturday. The bar counter top had wires coming out of the bottom and the glass case had masking tape around the top of it. I ordered an espresso martini and I had to send it back as it was overly sweet and not good. The bartender made me a second one and it was just as bad. For food we had the cheddar biscuits (delish!!!)... but the fried greens tomatoes, gumbo, and mac & cheese were lacking flavor and took a while to come out. The place its self was small and I was hoping our experience would be the same as it was back when we were there a few years ago. We won't be back anytime soon unfortunately.

Came here for Happy Hour with a friend. We arrived around 6:20pm (Happy Hour ends at 7pm) so we were just in time. Our waitress quickly sat us at a cute table with the regular menu and the Happy Hour menu. The restaurant wasn't packed. One party sitting at an outside table and an almost full bar inside. She started with waters and vodka sodas. We skipped appetizers and ordered the double cheeseburgers with a side of fries to share. I also ordered a side of mac and cheese. The burger was delicious. I practically finished mine entirely. Juicy flavor and the sauce they put on the buns was super tasty. The fries were ok. The dip included with them had a nice flavor (I assume to be Mayo, mustard and ketchup mixed). The mac and cheese was seasoned nicely but something was off with the consistency of the cheese sauce itself. For my second drink I chose a tequila pineapple and ordered the key lime tart as dessert. The key lime tart was the highlight of my dining experience for sure! The drinks overall were just ok. The menu isn't complex so I'm not in a rush to try more items but I could definitely see this being a cute spot to meet a girlfriend to share happy hour wines and a charcuterie board.

We're visiting West Palm Beach this week and looked on Yelp for recommendations and Sassafras seemed like a solid choice because of the wonderful reviews and boy, were we glad we decided to come!! Justin was our host and he was all smiles and huge personality, one of the most genuinely sweetest people we have ever met. He asked us if we would like a table inside or outside he chatted with us and made us feel right at home and so welcomed to be there. The ambiance was absolutely fabulous, the table settings, the colors of the restaurant, the chandeliers and even the music was banger after banger. We totally loved the whole vibe of the space and were so excited to be dining here. Because we were staying in a hotel we decided to order a few appetizers and sides so that we wouldn't have leftover food that we would have to haul back to the hotel or feel bad about throwing away, plus it gave us the opportunity to try so many items on the menu and nobody was left feeling stuffed and weighed down at the end of our meal. We start our meal with the pork belly and yellow watermelon salad, all of the salad elements were bright and fresh, the watermelon was juicy and refreshing and the pork belly had an absolutely perfect sear. Next came the charcuterie with the chicken patè and pimento cheese, everything on the charcuterie board, the pickled green tomatoes and the accruediments were all absolutely lovely and the horseradish mustard made a wonderful accompaniment to that chicken liver patè adding a pungent savoryness to the richness of the patè. The chicken skins were probably one of the items that sent us over the moon, they were breaded and fried and came with an aioli I believe but we were all big fans of the chicken skin and of course the black truffle gnocchi was probably the star of the evening. Everything about this dish I felt like elevated comfort and love, the gnocchi were so tender and perfectly flavored with the sauce that didn't only include truffles but a variety of gorgeous mushrooms and bright peas. We did also have the crispy shrimp sandwich that I completely forgot to snap a picture of but the shrimp in the sandwich were huge and succulent. Every single item that we had knocked it completely out of the park, we were completely satisfied after the meal but not stuffed. I highly recommend visiting Sassafras anytime anyone is ever in West Palm Beach!!

Fresh, yummy and light. I did the pimento cheese, a salad with chicken and the yogurt. Normally a breakfast yogurt has withered fruit and it is not filling. This was surprisingly full of fresh fruit and granola. There was a true assortment of true and the granola was tasty. Came here with a big party for a going away brunch. The Table also tasted the chicken and waffles and that was a large portion. The location of this restaurant is prime West Palm. The servers were all very nice and tolerant of our rowdy party. Not gonna lie, my favorite part was the vibe. It reminded me of cute little breakfast cafes when I visited Italy. Classic blue China, clean white lines inside and simple but timeless decor. Looking a Sunday or understated casual dining. You found it.

    Falyn H.

I went here a few weeks ago on a Sunday for a bachelorette party and we could collectively agree that this place was a great vibe. Delicious food, beachy ambiance, yummy cocktails, and the bartender was dressed like a shark, which was a fun vibe! I had the mushroom omelette and it did not disappoint. The only disappointment was that our friend gave the cook her number and he never called her. Major loss on his part! Haha

Dropped in to Sassafras on the whim for happy hour before Night by Clematis. Sat at the bar, was waited on very timely and the bartender also recommended drinks to me. She ended up making me a lemon drop and it was pretty good. Regarding the food, I started with the chicken skins! They were absolutely delicious and I wish I could eat some right now as I type this. The accompanied sauce was divine and the skins were super crispy. I also ordered the happy hour gumbo. I was hella disappointed in it. The bowl was super small, slightly on the dry side, and primarily made of rice but it had a decent amount of chicken in it. It was supposed to also have sausage, it had one or two little rounds. I asked the guy who brought it to me and he said that's normal. Boy bye.... Also, I know we're in downtown WPB which in my opinion lends to the older crowd, but I'd rather not have a lap dog being petted next to me at a restaurant.

    Does Sassafras serve alcohol?

Yes they do, and during brunch there's a bottomless mimosa ☺️

That fried chicken with waffle looks good. Is it boneless?

The fried chicken was not boneless, however it is possible they may sell a boneless version, I’m not sure about that. Hope that helps.

There used to be a little place "Sassafras - Twisted Southern Cuisine" on J St. in Lake Worth years ago ... is this any relation to that?

Leon, I can't answer that question for you but I remember that restaurant well because I loved it! I, too, am now wondering if it's related to that one. Maybe we will just have to go and ask them ourselves.

For the burger or butcher's cut etc is the meat from creekstone farms or a different vendor? Thanks…

When is brunch? Is there a menu we can check out?

We brought the issue to the attention of the manager, who acknowledged it initially but never returned to follow up. To their credit, the salmon was removed from the bill and an alternative dish was offered. However, the overall experience still fell far short of what should be expected at this price point and reputation level. What disappointed me most was not simply the food itself, but the complete lack of genuine hospitality and ownership from management. Strong restaurants understand that service recovery matters just as much as the meal. There's a reason establishments like The Capital Grille or Flagler Steakhouse have earned reputations for professionalism and customer care. Sometimes I genuinely think managers at places like this should spend time training in environments where hospitality is treated as an art form rather than an inconvenience. The following day, I was still disappointed enough to write this review. At a certain point, guests should not have to spend over $200 while simultaneously educating a restaurant on how to deliver proper service and quality control. With an abundance of superior restaurants nearby, this is not a place I would return to, even if offered a complimentary meal. Don't chance it.

Came here with my bf while we were visiting the area. It was a Sunday afternoon and they were BUSY…read more The hostess was no where to be found for a while but finally we were able to put our names down for a table. The wait was pretty long but the bar was first come first serve so we hoped to snag a spot there instead. The restaurant itself is tight. It's long but thin and the waiting area is like nonexistent so you're basically all huddling around people's tables. Luckily we were able to get drinks while we waited and the drinks were delicious. I ordered "The Crush" which had green grapes in it. It was so refreshing and delicious!! It's been a couple of weeks since we went and I'm still thinking about how good that drink was. I forgot what my bf got to drink but he enjoyed it as well. Finally some seats opened up at the bar and we were able to sit there and I'm so glad we did. Our bartender, I believe his name was Sam, was on point. Just exceptional service from him. He was great at his job and we also really enjoyed our conversation with him. To eat we ordered the deviled eggs, the tuna tartare and the Emerald Kale Salad with Rotisserie Chicken. The salad was just so incredible we ordered one to go as well. The food is absolutely worth coming back here for, the tuna tartare was also fantastic. The deviled eggs were okay, but I'm not a good judge for them as I'm not a huge deviled eggs person. Next time we're in the area I need to come back here. So good!!!

Small, limited menu, but all items are properly executed and taste delicious!!…read more Our table ordered a bunch of things and shared them all- the dip duo (jalapeño queso and guacamole with chips), chicken meatballs, crispy chicken sandwich (homemade torta, Swiss, tomato, spicy slaw), the burger (with a side of spicy mayo), deviled eggs, shoestring fries with seasoning, and the prime rib sandwich (with Jack cheese and horseradish). My favorite items were the chicken meatballs (perfect texture, with the right amount of spicy mustard) and the prime rib sandwich (the bread was soft, steak was juicy and tender, horseradish was creamy). ALL of our dishes, however, were soooo good, and I'd order any of them a second time! Small seating area inside (just a few tables and bar seats), and they don't accept reservations, so expect to wait a little bit. The inside is dark, with warm lighting and big leather booths; you don't feel like you're in south Florida anymore, it's a northern cozy vibe. Service was nice, but didn't check in often enough (often times having to flag someone down for utensils, plates, etc). I would definitely return here for dinner!!

It was definitely not packed for a Thursday night on clematis but it's also off season and we were promptly seated when we got there. I made a reservation but you definitely don't need one. Our waitress immediately brought us water and was able to take all of our orders all the food and drinks came out super fast. I did ask for my salad dressing on the side which wasn't done which is why I'm taking off one star but that's ok. It did end up getting a bit loud once we were about to head out around 9PM so we couldn't hear each other but definitely more people started to come in. All in all we all paid about $30 each for this special which is not bad at all since it included a drink and very good portion sizes. That blackened chicken was divine and so flavorful!
