Beautiful ambiance at both the bar and in the dining room. We only had one drink. There was barely anyone there while we were there, but the music was still blasting. I think it would have been slightly more enjoyable if the music matched the nice atmosphere, but I think they were trying to transition to more of a nightclub vibe. It's definitely on the pricier side, but the bar staff was nice! The whole time we were there, they were making tons of their signature "Hotshots" (hot espresso layered with vanilla liqueur and whipped cream). We didn't try one this time, but they seemed to be the go-to drink because we saw so many people ordering them. The smell of espresso was amazing! Came here for the ladies night special on Thursday for their girl dinner with a group of friends which included truffle fries, Caesar salad and martini of your choice (I got an espresso martini with tequila while the rest of the group got lychee martinis with tequila). It was definitely not packed for a Thursday night on clematis but it's also off season and we were promptly seated when we got there. I made a reservation but you definitely don't need one. Our waitress immediately brought us water and was able to take all of our orders all the food and drinks came out super fast. I did ask for my salad dressing on the side which wasn't done which is why I'm taking off one star but that's ok. It did end up getting a bit loud once we were about to head out around 9PM so we couldn't hear each other but definitely more people started to come in. All in all we all paid about $30 each for this special which is not bad at all since it included a drink and very good portion sizes. That blackened chicken was divine and so flavorful! read more

Came here with a party of 8 for a birthday dinner. The vibe is dark and moody. We sat in the back and we did not feel apart of the vibes. Unfortunately, the service was also moody and we felt forgotten about. We experienced long waits throughout the night, from ordering drinks to finally being able to place our food order (not until 10pm). It was disappointing for a celebration. The food, was pretty interesting. Everything had a twist. The tuna tartare stood out, and I appreciated the unique Swedish-inspired menu. The salmon, meatballs, and beef Rydberg were table favorites. The shrimp linguine was more zesty than normal. Drinks were fun and varied. Some stronger than others, but overall a good mix. See our reviews below. I was invited here for a birthday party on a Tuesday night. Found metered parking on clematis close by. Our party was already seated. This was all of our first time here so we pondered over what to order. I went with the black truffle linguine because it seemed to be a popular choice. It was quite delicious. Decided to try the new location that opened on Clematis. The service was on point, granted the restaurant was pretty empty for early dinner service. We got there at 6:30pm. The food came out pretty quickly and while the food runner "jumped the gun" and delivered our food at different times, our server made up for it by bringing us a complimentary cocktail. (More like a mocktail but I guess it's the thought that counts!) The overall vibe is pretty chill and the setting was sexy enough for me to feel like I wasn't in a dive bar. If you do go be sure to venture into their "members only" spot located by the bathrooms which we stumbled upon! Overall a good experience! read more

My husband and I came to Waxins with two friends during their opening weekend, and the place was packed. We were seated near to Eric Trump and his Secret Service agents--getting side-eye from them definitely made for an interesting evening, haha. We started with an espresso martini and the Midsomer Old Fashioned, both delicious, though the Old Fashioned was served with regular ice instead of a large cube, which felt off for a $16 cocktail. We shared the Swedish platter appetizer--tasty, but very small for the price, so we had to order two. I had the tenderloin pasta, and we also ordered the Wallenbergare with risotto and broccolini. The risotto was just okay and the broccolini was bland. The best dish there was the tenderloin pasta. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, but the music was so loud during dinner that conversation was difficult. Dinner for the two of us was $155. Great spot for drinks and energy. Since it was opening weekend, I'd be willing to give it another try once they fine-tune a few things. read more

Waxin's on Clematis opened only about a week before a friend and I showed up for happy hour. It's a lovely looking space with an upscale interior, while the full-size windows (almost floor to ceiling) facing Clematis remain open (or they do in good weather, anyway). It's also on a corner, so there's a lot to see and hear. There's a private back room that can be booked for celebratory occasions (or whatever), and then there's the bar and dining room. We sat at the bar. We had a few bartenders over the course of our two-plus hours there, and all were professional, competent, and friendly. I started off with a couple tequila cocktails, the 'zesty cucumber blaze.' I liked them, and they were even better at happy hour prices. My friend just had a couple Grey Goose on the rocks. We later had glasses of Prosecco, and then we absolutely had to try their very popular 'Hotshot, an enticing concoction of vanilla liqueur, hot espresso and whipped cream. Those were so good we ordered another round. As for food, we had Toast Skagen, peeled shrimp, horseradish, lemon dill mayo over butter-fried toast. That was very good -- shrimp, mayo, lemon and butter toast -- what's not to love? I can't remember anything else. I barely remember leaving, but I ubered so it's ok. Waxin is always a treat, we normally go to their Palm Beach Gardens location. This time we tried the West Palm Beach and just as good. I like this location a bit better since they have a bigger bar. They have a nice size dining room and able to fit larger group. Everything we ordered was off of happy hour menu. The fish taco was really nice, tasty and good size, burger was nicely done but the fries was very salty. The meatball came out cold, but the bartender took care of it right away. Overall good spot, I think the food had room to grow. We will give them a try again another time and see! read more

This spot opened around Thanksgiving, and I finally had the chance to check it out the day before Christmas Eve during happy hour. It's a Swedish-American restaurant, though on this visit I didn't try any of the Swedish dishes--saving that for next time. I ordered the happy hour Old Fashioned for $8 and also tried the Midsommar Old Fashioned ($16), which is not included on the happy hour menu. The Midsommar is made with bourbon, house-infused blackberry and rosemary syrup, and Angostura bitters--very smooth and well-balanced. For food, I went with the happy hour burger, priced at $15 (regularly $24). It's made with Angus beef, aged cheddar, thin red onion, Bibb lettuce, red cabbage slaw, truffle mayo, and comes with French fries. The burger was good, though not the best I've had. The ambiance is very nice, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout my visit. Overall, a solid experience, and I'll definitely be back to try some of their Swedish menu options. read more

The vibes here are on point! Super moody and refined-- service was a 10, we had Angelina as our waitress and she was fantastic! The drinks were refreshing and innovative! Went for dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday. Their AC was broken, we were sweating, our poor server was very sweaty. We couldn't wait to leave. I get that things happen but we would have appreciated being notified earlier in the evening about the broken AC so we could have possibly made alternative plans. It's hard to pivot at 8PM on a Saturday night when you drove 35 minutes to get there and have a baby sitter on the clock. This experience showed a complete lack of respect for customers. The food and drinks at Waxin's was not the problem, absolutely delicious and reasonable. This visit, although on the 4th of July, the restaurant was not packed. Our party of 8 was seated in a terribly dark room. Our waitress at first was doing great. We got our food but that took a very long time and didn't come out all together. After that we didn't see her . When we tried to find her to remind her of our shot order and to get the bill...at one point she passed right by my friends who were trying to talk to her ... she blew them off and disappeared bar or private room? The only person we could find to do anything was a very pleasant security guard who flagged down the head waitress who took care of us and to her credit she gave us a discount on our food and was polite. But our original waitress had been missing for an hour or more. We could hear them complaining about us behind the curtain between our table and the kitchen. It was the men in our group who complained and somehow the attitudes from waitress were targeted to the women in our group. I will only go back to the bar/front area of clematis location and preferably have a server who is professional and professionally attired for the level of restaurant Waxin's is. I will go to hooters if that's the experience I want . Not a prude in any way... it's just not the place for that. Also it should be added that the door of the restaurants and flyers from being there the previous week promoted 25% off of their Italian dishes. It took all night to get any answer on that, even though posted on their door and on passed flyers not one person working knew or admitted to knowing about that promotion. The carpaccio was delicious! The drinks were good. The waiter was extraordinarily unfamiliar with the menu. Nice guy, but got a lot wrong. I ordered snapper as my main, I got salmon, Wtf! The waiter was super apologetic they took it off the bill then brought me snapper which by that time everyone had already finished eating and I didn't want it. They brought it out so I had it wrapped it to go. My friend had the Skagen, which she said was good. The billing is done on an electronic machine, so you never actually get to see the bill and just have to trust that everything that's on. It is correct. read more
