Chicken schnitzel sandwich
Adam D.

"The Perfect Chicken Sandwich" is what me and my friend have started to call the chicken schnitzel sandwich. We've gone back three times just for the sandwich of our dreams. The juicy chicken is perfectly breaded, crispy and juicy smothered in a delicious sauce and cabbage. On the side are the crispiest French fries that miraculously stay crispy until the last bite. It's serious magic. Coupled with a Mr. B's cocktail and I leave satisfied every time. The staff is always super friendly and the food is prepared in almost no time. The atmosphere is casual, very old Florida. And the when the DJ is playing, the music is always great. All in all, Mr. B's is our new regular spot!

I had received word about the same people who own the beloved kitchen on Belvedere opening a new neighborhood lounge with vintage vibes in West Palm Beach that had a cool bar offering cocktails and a food menu. Naturally, I had to check it out and pleased with the old school Floridian meets Polynesian interior and local vibes. Plus the cocktails were good from the one I ordered. With GPS, I discovered that Mr. B's is a lot further south in West Palm than I anticipated. If you aren't familiar with where Georgia Avenue is then you are definitely going to need GPS with either Waze or Google Maps. You have to either go up or down Parker (depending on your direction) and hook over to Georgia via one of the side streets or get on the Avenue south of where it's located or north of Southern. The bar can quickly sneak up on you if you aren't paying attention. But once you see the brick-red painted building with the tinted rectangle windows with the large signage overlooking Georgia Avenue, you will tend to remember it. Parking is available either by the lot in front of the building on the property or on the streets surrounding it. Depending on when you go during the day, you may need to look for spots on the streets since the lot parking is limited, holding about 12-14 spaces total. The inside definitely recalls a 60s Elk Lodge meets 70s Polynesian without all the excessive palm branches and statues. A large stingray hangs on the north wall overlooking all the red leather bar stools, booth seating and table seating. A large painting of a tiger known as Frank apparently hangs over the liquor shelving in the middle of the bar area; hell, there is a drink also named Frank the Tiger (which I ordered and it was good). There is a game room in the southwest corner to the left of the bar that has an electronic dart board and a pool table. While I only stayed for a drink, the experience was fun and chill, definitely radiating neighborhood bar vibes in an old Florida setting. The Frank the Tiger reminds me mostly of a Negroni with the Campari. It certainly packs a punch between that, the gin, the rum, and the Montenegro. Haven't had tried any food from the menu yet, but look forward to checking out on my next visit.

Mr B's is a vibe!! Has a Dj playing music, of course they serve food as well. Seems like a sports bar setting with a night club twist! If you're looking for a place to eat, watch some sports tv, and enjoy some music. This is your place!! Not a huge place, just the right size.

Opened December 2024. Owned by the people who run the kitchen on Belvedere. Smart dive bar with limited menu and unusual cocktails. Clean and welcoming and attentive server. Food very tasty if very limited. Apparently small stage used for music on weekends.

We heard about Mr. B's Tavern from some friends, so had to check it out for happy hour, and WOW! It's got that old-school tavern charm but with a cool, updated vibe. We sat at the bar, there is a cozy dining area, and even a game room in the back. Service was amazing and the bartender was super friendly and attentive the whole time. We'll definitely want to come back for brunch! Smoked Fish Dip - the bartender recommended and honestly one of our faves of the night (we ate it so fast we didn't even get a picture). Grandma Han's Wings - Asian-style glazed full of flavor, crispy and perfectly cooked, HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Lobster Roll w/ Sweet Potato Fries - toasted bread, generous chunks of lobster in every bite, not drowned in sauce, just perfectly balanced. Banana Cream Pie - dessert was OMG! Even if you're not a dessert person, this was unreal, elevated in every way. Creamy, crunchy, chocolatey, and not overly sweet, every bite was SO good.

We had a very good dinner here. Parking is in the small lot out front or on the streets nearby. No valet parking fees to deal with. The area itself is a warehouse and industrial district. We lucked out finding a space as someone was just leaving as we were rounding the block for the first time. We were meeting friends and got there a bit early. Early enough for my husband to grab a glass of house wine at a happy hour price. The place was jumping. Obviously, this new casual restaurant (by the chef from Kitchen) is already on the radar of the in-crowd who like to try new places. Most folks were in jeans or the like. Every seat at the bar was taken with folks waiting for a seat. And every booth was occupied. We got a four-top table in the middle of the room. The tables are quite close to each other so there's not much privacy, but that wasn't a problem. What was a bit uncomfortable was the loud music which made conversation not the easiest. By the time we left, every seat in the place was full and there was a line of about a dozen folks waiting. The menu is limited, but there are enough choices. Our friends started with a chopped Italian salad. It had a little bit of everything in it including salami. This was quite good. I'd get this in the future. After that he had their fried chicken schnitzel sandwich. It looked good and he enjoyed it. She had their Greek salad with added chicken. She liked it but was hoping for a bit more variety in the salad. My husband had their tavern burger. There was special sauce and sauteed onions on it. Both his burger and the schnitzel sandwich came with French fries, coleslaw, and a pickle. He said the burger was very good. I had their local fish bites. The fish was mahi. The "bites" (an appetizer) were breaded and fried. It came with an herbed tartar sauce. I liked them. I took a couple home as I was saving room for dessert. Each couple shared a slice of their coconut cake. The cake was wonderful. Light and airy and nicely covered in coconut. The slices were large and perfect to share. There are a lot more items on the menu that I'd like to try in addition to their chopped salad -- like their fish dip, wings, eggplant "burger", as well as their banana pie. I hope we can return soon. PS. Just a note: They add an automatic 20% gratuity onto your check.

Mr. B's Chicken

Disappointing. I really wanted to like this place. It has a lot of potential which is squandered by having such extremely mediocre food. It's got a kitschy kind of vibe and it's squirreled away and a mostly industrial type neighborhood. There's a fair amount of table and booth seating and we didn't have to wait at all for a table for two around 530-6pm on a Thursday night. Our server was very energetic and attentive enough. Where things fell was the food. The crudite platter had decent vegetables, but the dips were pretty awful. The hummus was more like a dense, flavorless chickpea paste - under-blended, thick and without an hint of lemon or tahini. The babaganoush wasn't any better, but the tzatziki wasn't terrible. My brick chicken was flat out boring and lacked meaningful flavor (go try the chicken at Hive or RH). Darn shame in my opinion.

Greek salad (maybe?)
Jessica K.

What do you love about Greek salad? Feta of course. It was so hard to find feta in this salad which was basically a bunch of shredded lettuce with very few small cucumbers, grape tomatoes, and green peppers. It's possible there was enough feta but I really don't know. Also, sadly the poached shrimp I added were three cocktail shrimp. I was expecting shrimp that were at least warm in temperature and recently cooked based on the description. Really disappointing, especially for a place that has such a great vibe, and prices in the high end especially for the location. I really hope they improve the Greek salad. They seem to have sufficient knowledge on how to create a successful restaurant. It's so not hard to make a good Greek salad. I don't usually like to leave bad reviews but I am going Mr. B's will do something to improve this.

Amazing atmosphere with fantastic service. Not a problem at all getting quick seating, fantastic burger and wings and my friend got the alla vodka pasta and said it was amazing. Highly recommend. Great cocktails as well

Looks like they turned an old bar which it was into a slightly upscale tavern in a warehouse district. I probably wouldn't let my wife go there at night without accompanying her. I asked the difference at happy hour between a well drink and a top shelf drink and it was $16 compared to $20. I think that's a bit steep for the location. It was probably a pretty cool bar for the neighborhood before they took over. I don't think many Palm Beach people frequented the old place. The owners of the kitchen own this restaurant as well and have some upscale food and drink. The menu was a little limited but sufficient for this type of establishment. A salad, a burger and an eggplant burger with a perhaps blue ribbon beer and two vodkas came to $112. I thought that's a little bit overpriced for this area and this establishment. Maybe it's a trend for the future.

Chicken Parm

I'm not understanding how some people like this ersatz dive bar/restaurant as the food was underwhelming. However I could understand if someone is coming in for just drinks as the pours were fine and inexpensive and made even better with the friendly service and inviting vibes. But the food was just low quality and amateurish and this despite the years of experience from the company that runs the restaurant. The Lobster Roll was doused in mayonnaise and if it were fresh (or good) it would have been served with just a modicum of mayo or butter as to not negate the supposed freshness of the lobster. The Lobster Roll was bad quality terrible and should not have been served and seems indicative of the kitchen's lack of appreciation or understanding of food. The accompanying fries and cole slaw were unfortunately pedestrian. Chicken Parm was a nice sized portion but was cafeteria basic with an acidic sauce and a bad tasting cheese that didn't melt properly. A banana cream pie had an off-putting artificial taste and tasted of chemicals and really who wants that? This restaurant might be fine for Happy Hour drinks but the food was not good.

The vibe is super cool, cozy seating, great ambience, dim lighting that feels like a hidden gem. I sat on the comfy couch and ordered sushi from OKA, which was honestly better than ever. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The cocktails were delicious too; strong, creative, and exactly what I wanted for a chill night out. I was having a great time, enjoying my meal and drinks, when disaster struck right at the end. I had literally just finished eating when a huge roach crawled right by my feet on the couch area. It was massive and absolutely disgusting. I jumped out of my seat so fast, thankfully I was done with my food, or I probably would've lost it completely. I didn't scream (which is a miracle because I definitely would have at home), but it was such a gross turn-off. I get that this is Lake Worth and Florida has its bugs, but come on, a roach that big in a dining establishment? That's not okay. You really need to step up the pest control. Also, the bathrooms could use some serious help. They're outdated and feel neglected, definitely in need of an update or renovation to match the rest of the cool vibe. Overall, the sushi shines, the drinks are spot-on, and the atmosphere is fun... but that roach ruined the ending for me, and the bathrooms don't help. Fix those things, and this place could be amazing. Hoping it was just a one-off bad night!

Sophisticated, over-the-top, stylish, swanky, expensive, with a strong exclusiveness that radiates…read moreas you enter the inner sanctum that is the bar and dining lounge, Mary Lou's is an experience. You may experience it once, or multiple times, depending on how comfortable you are with strictly valet parking and, in particular, the Palm Beach prices, but the food, the cocktails, and the service are on point. For as long as I have lived in the West Palm Beach area, the building that now houses Mary Lou's was a bait-and-tackle store with a respectable craft beer selection. The structure has been in existence since at least the 1960s, by my knowledge, and the owners of what has become Mary Lou's have kept the exterior aesthetic to make it appear like an old but unassuming store on Southern Boulevard, but once you're inside, you realize you're in a completely different universe. Once you valet your car and walk inside, you're greeted by ship-like, polished wooden walls and intimate lighting as you head to the greeting desk to check in. Yes, please reserve a table in advance. Once checked in, you're escorted through a set of doors into a darkened hallway before a circular, circus-like lounge area and bar appear that radiates 70s vibes, not too far from what you may watch on the show Palm Royale from Apple TV. After being escorted to our table, we enjoyed a myriad of lovely cocktails and small and large bites with excellent service. I enjoyed cocktails such as the Olive Ave and Old Soul: the former was a filthy martini made with love and understanding, the latter was a bourbon-based powerhouse with applejack, Barenjager, and mango. I also ordered off the menu and enjoyed a Paper Plane and an Old Fashioned. Both were fantastic bourbon cocktails that the bar made well. The Beef Carpaccio Salad was wicked good with the goat cheese brulee and pine nut butter, while the maple pork belly skewers were solid. The crispy octopus was excellent with the fav bean puree, while the grilled lamb chops were piquant. The Banana Creme Brulee for dessert was very good, shaped like an actual banana with a chocolate shell that evoked Andy Warhol. Everything we were served was meticulously prepared and exquisitely delicious. The service was prompt and accommodating. We rarely waited long for drinks, for additional items off the menu, the bar accommodated us well with different drink selections -- we were a party of six and didn't have delays per my observation. The drawbacks are pricing and exclusive valet parking. Most cocktails run at least $20, and the small and large bites are priced between $30 and $45, with some slightly lower and some slightly higher. You can easily spend $75 to $100 before tip. Therefore, this serves as either a special-occasion spot or a regular-occasion spot for those who can afford it -- definitely Palm Beachy in that regard. The on-site parking spots for Mary Lou's are reserved for valet; self-parking is not readily available, as I have observed. If you're concerned about valet parking, consider either coming with a large group and carpooling or using Uber. After 10 PM at least on Saturdays is when the lounge turns into a dance club with the lights darkening, the spotlights shining, reflecting off the mirror bar, with dancers and DJ spinning music. It can be a lot of fun to take part if you make a reservation at the right time to experience both sides of the establishment.

For a restaurant at this price point, these charges should be clearly explained before the bill arrives, not left as an unexpected surprise for customers. The restaurant was also uncomfortably cold throughout the entire evening, which took away from what should have been an enjoyable dining experience. What was most upsetting, however, was the treatment by the bouncer. He was rude and physically shoved me without any reason. No customer should ever be handled in that manner. It was inappropriate, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. For the amount charged, I expected a much higher level of service, transparency, and respect. Instead, the evening felt overpriced, uncomfortable, and hostile. I will not be returning and would strongly encourage management to address both the hidden fees and the conduct of their staff.
