It's not gourmet, Michelin starred eating, but it's exactly what I need when I want a ton of delicious Japanese hibachi-style food at the mall. Service is always top notch. It's not the friendliest, but it is efficient and it is fast. The cooks are back there cooking their butts off, and I appreciate it. The food is pretty standard, and it's pretty good. I was feeling particularly hungry that day. I got the triple meat combo, with chicken, beef, and shrimp. All of the meats were cooked pretty well. Glistening with the sauce they use. The noodles and the veggies are cooked well, too. Not too much bite on that broccoli. Overall, this place is an excellent bang for your buck. Teriyaki Japan is no longer an official Sarku Japan, even though the sign still advertises "Sarku" chicken. Name aside, their teriyaki chicken might actually beat the real Sarku locations nearby. The generous mound of sweet, savory meat and rice they serve for ten dollars keeps pulling me back. Unfortunately, the milk tea is a letdown: it tastes like a powder mix, and the boba pearls sit in plain water until they turn into slippery, flavorless marbles. To elevate the whole experience, they could brew their tea fresh, and store the pearls in a light brown-sugar syrup. The food comes out super quick at around 5 minutes on average and is freshly made. Every time I go to pick up my brother from work, I'm always excited to receive a complimentary teriyaki chicken skewer from one of the friendly employees at the food court. As a self-declared noodle enthusiast, I found the noodles to be a bit too stiff and not as fresh as I would have liked. This location has freshly made chicken cooked in front of the customer. It's really good. I ordered a meal with extra chicken, 2 egg rolls and a drink for my partner and I to share. It came up to be a little less than $20. It was very tasty. Service was quick but there was a line. I liked the signage advising to stay there for your food as other locations sometimes whose food is whose can get confusing. Really great egg rolls. I would like the seating in the mall to be more inclusive as the chairs are tiny and the chairs are the only options. No benches in the food court. My portion appeared pretty big and then I felt pretty big in my stomach. It's a typical Mall food court restaurant that has that one dish that you can't recreate it any other restaurant. We literally ran into Sarku Japan right at closing to get dinner. They were in the middle of cleaning up to go home, but my son started passing out. Carlos noticed it, ran into the back, and grabbed his own dinner he gave my son !! Then refused to take any form of compensation. He had such an amazingly kind heart and sweet spirit. What an amazing blessing he is to put himself out for a complete stranger. We love the food here and this selfless act was beyond outstanding customer service. Any day or time of the week, this restaurant hands out samples of their Sarku chicken which adds an addictive pop of flavor. The combo appears to be a popular menu choice which comes with Sarku chicken (a sweet teriyaki flavor), a vegetable blend, and a choice of steamed rice or fried rice. The staff are true entrepreneurs and can at times be viewed as extra eager in soliciting customers within the food court and zipping customers through the register as quickly as possible but there's nothing wrong with having minimal wait, right! Man if you haven't had this place yet please try it. I would always see people in the mall ordering large orders of their chicken and I stopped to try it. Best Bourbon chicken I've ever had . Well I just found out it's called " Sarku chicken " It's not like the other places where some of the chicken is kinda burnt. It's soft & delicious. There's signs with pictures so you can pick the type you want to try. It comes over a bed of Fried or white rice and mixed veggies. Whites or "white passing" only. If you're poc, save your money because you will be discriminated against and it will be very obvious and embarrassing. First time I thought it was an oversight, second time I thought it was a mistake, but today when I paid for extra chicken and received a half portion of food, I realized it wasn't a coincidence. I've always given them the benefit of the doubt. I didn't want to make a scene for $11.21 so I waited until I got to my car to call and tell the woman there was an error and her exact words, "I don't know what to say. Sorry. I don't remember you." I'm not expecting her to remember me, but the least she could do was offer to fix it. I had my receipt showing it was a special order and I paid extra for double chicken. There was even the toothpick stuck on the box to indicate I paid for extra chicken. The cook removed it, added the few pieces of chicken and said done. I was in shock and disbelief. Because as I'm closing my box, the guy behind me with the exact same order gets an overflowing amount of chicken. I wish I was making it up. I never pull the "race card". But when there are five other boxes ahead of yours and you can see what goes in for which customer, you are only left with one explanation, especially when you see her indicating to the cooks with hand gestures to add more to certain people's boxes. What can I say about Sarku other than awesome!!! We've been going to Sarku for close to 10 years now. This is one of the main reasons we visit the Oviedo Mall as often as we do. They always have someone outfront to have you taste the Sarku chicken. I always take a piece just to make sure thats what I have a taste for it and I always do! Its so tasty! We always do the sarku chicken (usually double) and I flip flop between all steamed rice or steamed rice and veggies. I also ask for extra sauce over the rice which makes it more delicious! I have tried the shrimp before and you were given a generous amount of shrimp, it just doesnt compare though to the Sarku chicken. The Maki Roll (Spring Roll basically) is also very tasty and affordable. My husband usually gets the same but ops for Noodles instead of veggies. Reading other reviews, I've never really encountered them being rude. I have encountered being rushed... but being in that mall and you have the longest line I would want to rush and get everyone through too. I think it also has to do with that they cook the chicken right in front of you so they want to make sure they put out enough to cook at the same time to try and get people out quicker. Usually you go to malls and other food resturants are trying to get your business as well, so before you change your mind they want to get your services which is another reason why they are quickly moving you through. Sarku is also a chain and I have visited other locations and they don't compare to this specific location. The Sarku chicken & veggies over Brown rice is what I get every time. They have extra sarku/teriyaki sauce on the end along with Sriracha, to put the finishing touches on as you see fit. My favorite place to eat when I'm at the Oviedo Marketplace. It's a quick and simple lunch or snack when I want some teriyaki chicken or sarku chicken with white rice. I used to get seafood soba but they don't have that anymore. Both chicken dishes are pretty much the same way of cooking: Teriyaki chicken has the sauce pour over once the chicken is cooked; Sarku chicken is the same chicken they cook on the hibachi hotplate and then pour it into a sauce pan with the sarku sauce (it's like teriyaki but not as sweet). If you want cheap Japanese food this is the place to go. In Orlando there are many malls that have Sarku Japan but the one in Oviedo is for sure the best. At Sarku the same staff have been working there for years. They are friendly but they like to go fast. They also have free teriyaki sauce AND white sauce. This is the only Sarku I know of that has sauces. I always order chicken, noodles, and vegetables. The sample they are handing out of the chicken that most people order. I believe they have orange chicken as well . They also serve rice with the meal but it costs extra. Although mall Japanese might seem a little sketchy I think it's worth giving it a try. In all the years I've never had a problem. One downside is they done accept Amex. So keep that in mind when going. Also the cashier is rude and likes things to go very very fast. My go to Oviedo mall food :) I love the teriyaki chicken and rice w/veggies. Tip- if you get it to go you get like twice the amount of food. Some people have complained about the service not being good but it's fine for me. They ask what you want and then you pay, they make it for you and you take it and go. No communication needed basically. What I love most though is they make perfect fried rice. A lot of Chinese food places put those little cubes of meat that I think is disgusting but their fried rice is just rice. Never a disappointing experience here.
