This Sarku Japan is located within the food court at The Corner Mall in Downtown Boston. It is a fairly busy location but the people running the place move very fast so I've never had a problem being able to place my order and receive my meal rather quickly. The last time I was there I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki meal which is served with rice and vegetables. It was very delicious and I really enjoyed it. I also ordered a spring roll just for a little something extra to add to my meal and it was also very good. There is plenty of seating in the food court dining area to sit and enjoy your meal. The prices are not bad at all and you get plenty of food for what they charge for it. It is definitely my eatery of choice when I am at The Corner Mall. read more

Value is unbeatable and the flavor is classic. Any of the protein options are great I usually do beef or beef and shrimp since I'm not a huge chicken fan but the amount of food piled in is insane. Standardly you get white rice veggies and protein. The dumplings and spring rolls I also get often and are very tasty. It moves fast and is always really fresh. Tasty and great for my cravings. There's plenty of seating inside or you can take it to go read more

We stumbled across this mall while walking around downtown Boston and stopped in for some lunch. We heard and smelled some sizzle and immediately went towards sarku Japan. The prices were reasonable and the portion size as good. I got the chicken and shrimp teriyaki that came with vegetables and fried rice. Only thing it was missing was spice to it but overall it was good. read more

The food here is absolutely amazing. Always come here with my partner and because they serve so much for one meal, we usually get one and share it. We tried it the last time with a variant of noodles, chicken and shrimp with extra chicken. Just soooo good. Service is fairly fast. There was a massive line one time and they were just zipping people out super fast. I just had to write a review expressing how amazing the service is here too and how nice the workers are too. read more

More than an ideal option inside the corner mall. Very fast service, inexpensive (11 dollars), generous portions and delicious chicken teriyaki. Operates like a conveyor belt and there's a reason they are so consistent. Ignore any negative reviews. read more

Good help and veg options! Healthy, didn't have to add sauce or anything else! Good to watch them making my dishes!

Probably the best food you'll ever find in Boston. No wait and if theirs a line max you'll wait 5 mins. It's spanks every time. Can't go wrong. The spot is Boston very single time. Diversification of people for sure. I love the dudes in suits keeling us safe. read more

price keeps getting higher yet the food is less ridiculous and don't ask for extra sauce they look at you crooked. like yes I want more sauce if they giving all this rice with barely any meat. what do you think? Smh... read more

TLDR: Fantastic deal for teriyaki chicken I get it. You're hungry, you're not looking for anything fancy. Just something that will fill you up and taste good. Well, Sarkus got you covered. You get a ton of tasty chicken on your choice of rice, fried rice or lo mein. Don't like chicken? There's a beef and shrimp option as well. Yeah foods a bit basic but it always hits the spot. Plus it's fresh made right in front of you. read more

Comparing this location to the one at the Galleria mall, this one lacks in comparison. I've come by twice...with a span of 5 months in between because the first time I came, during lunch hour, my rice had NO SAUCE whatsoever and the amount of sauce on the chicken could not get onto my white rice. I found the meal to be gross and very dry. I thought, maybe they just forgot to put the sauce on my rice like the other location does?????? So i came back a couple of days ago and he put no sauce, but this time I watched and then asked him for some "extra" sauce which is really just putting some sauce on my rice, and he also put some on the person behind me as maybe the guy thought we were together or maybe he was about to do the same thing and ask... for $7.16 I think I'll just head over somewhere else... the chicken was kind of dry and overcooked. They do have a stamp card they give you. I won't be returning to this location sadly. read more

Rude service. Bland food. Will not even provide cup of water with meal. Avoid this place.

My overall experience was good. The line moved at a decent pace. The staff was friendly and the food was prepared in a timely manner..however the food was kind of underwhelming. I was disappointed because I didn't remember it tasting like that before.. It was really dry (specifically the rice and veggies) the pack of soy sauce isn't enough. On the bright side the chicken was nice and tender and they give you a lot of it. Whatever they use to season it is great. The chicken dumplings are very good..I like that they fry them I enjoy dumplings with texture. I definitely recommend however just request extra soy sauce. read more

Seriously the best affordable on the go food I love this spot for how quickly you can get a simple plate with teriyaki chicken, vegetables and rice. If you're looking for a Japanese bistro experience, this is clearly not the place but as far as a solid quick bite of something tasty, make sure you grab a friend and drop in for some quickly made japanese tastes read more

I ate here the other day. I ordered a chicken teriyaki plate and a lemonade. I got to my table, went to put my straw in my drink and realized there was a small roach floating on the top inside my drink! I went back to the lady that took my order, told her that there was a bug in my cup. I needed another drink. She proceed to turn around, dump it out and went to fill up the SAME cup with lemonade! I said, no! I need a new , CLEAN cup. She then, with an attitude, fixed me a new drink in a new cup. She was aggravated that I asked for a new cup. They obviously have roaches, bad manners and poor service. Do not eat there. read more

When I crave for chicken teriyaki, this is the spot to go to for lunch. Not to the Japanese restaurant or chinese restaurants that surround your office. It's fairly priced at about 6-7 dollars and you can add extra meat for a dollar. I only eat the chicken based on 2 rules, 1. Never eat seafood at a food court and 2. Beef Teriyaki should only be eaten on a stick. The flavor and texture of their chicken would've given the place 4 stars by itself, but you got to get veggies with your rice plate and that unfortunately made it fall short. It's basically steamed scraps of cabbage, broccoli, and carrots cut into really thin and small pieces. If they improved the quality of their vegetables it would've secured 4 stars pretty easily. Nonetheless this place is a very consistent lunch option. read more

I visited this location (Corner Mall), today, on my lunch break and the guy that I guess was the head cook/ in charge wouldn't give me what I paid for. The guy at the register started talking to one of the cooks (in their language) when I asked him if what I was looking at was supposed to be extra shrimp. When they finished talking, the guy at the register said yes. I had already paid with my card and again, I was on my lunch break so I took the plate and left. I ordered the chicken and shrimp teriyaki with noodles and vegetables. I know how they give more chicken than shrimp so that is why I ordered extra shrimp. Unless, they count their shrimp at the Corner Mall location in downtown Boston, MA, they didn't give me extra shrimp. I have ordered the same option from the Longwood Ave and Brockton location, with no problem, with getting the extra shrimp and it's obvious that they give you extra shrimp. At one point, I thought that the guy didn't charge me for extra shrimp but I knew that wasn't the case when I looked at the receipt. I gave this location one star because of the way that I was treated. It makes me wonder how many other people have they done this too, especially now that they have an app so you can order ahead. You won't know if they gave you what you paid for until you sit down to eat ,or if you look at your order in person. I don't see a lot of people going back to say something after the fact. It's things like this that makes me leery about dealing with food delivery apps. read more

Despite the negative rap this place gets, it's one of the cheapest meals in the Food Court, as well as the fact that they make the chicken on the spot, make this a great choice for quick and great tasting food in the area. They are QUICK! You're in and out of there in a minute. The food is delicious and it does not fail to make everyone in my office hungry. Get the chicken combo: it comes with white rice and vegetables for just a little over $6. You can't beat this deal. There are some negatives, but they don't outweigh the positives. The beef tastes good, but I've been spoiled by other Japanese teriyaki places that have beef cooked with mushrooms. Overall, the food is fairly greasy, but it's fresh. Sometimes you get varying amounts of meat, but it's always a very filling meal. Great stuff! I come here about once a week! read more

Extremely terrible service!!! The old lady with the moe is very rude! The younger woman that stir fried vegetables yell at my friend and I very loud to tell us to go down the lane even when there is 3 people in front of us. Asians only know how to pick on their own people! How can I move down the lane when there are still 3 people in front of us waiting for food to be prepare??? She even spoke very loud to her co-worker about that he's coming to work today and spraying her saliva on the vegetables. The chicken is like scraps of junk meats. Rice still too hard need more water. Also stop throwing the foam containers from cashier all the way to where u cook veggies. It's very rude and not sanitizing!!! Low quality people makes low quality food. Never will I come here to eat! Paid almost $7 and I'm not even full but threw half of the big away in the trash! What a rip off with terrible service. read more

If you've ever tried Sarku you know exactly what to expect. Chicken Terriyaki with rice and veggies for $6? Pretty hard to beat that. I would give them 4 stars, but I had to knock off a star for their griminess when it comes to their stamp cards. I forgot my card a couple times and so I had 3 cards that I asked them to combine. They said they don't do that...I think...they said a bunch of words, but all I could make out was No. Also, the card comes with an expiration date, but they stamped an additional expiration date to be about a month or so. My 3 cards didn't have this additional expiration date so they threw it out saying it's not valid anymore. I wanted to protest and never come back...but $6 chicken terriyaki...so yeahhhh read more

This is one of the best values for lunch or dinner. Chicken Teriyaki with white rice and vegetables is around $6.39 after tax. Sarku japan is pretty common in a lot of food courts at malls or other busy retail locations. The food taste pretty consistently in just about all the locations. This one on the other hand, the teriyaki sauce is a bit stronger and has a less subtle taste. You have to ask for teriyaki sauce, they won't put it on your plate unless you specifically ask. Trust me, it'll make the meal taste much better. The portions is huge so if you have a big appetite like myself you won't feel hungry after you finish the meal. You can also get extra chicken for another dollar or two, but I don't recommend it as it is a lot of food. I use to use the loyalty card where every 5 meal I buy, I get one for free. Not sure if they still do that. read more

For starters, I've been to many Sarku Japan's all over the place, and this is about what you would expect. Incredibly generous portions. You definitely get what you pay for and more. Rice and veggies are good and taste fresh. The meat is fresh, plentiful, but unfortunately extremely greasy. If they removed like 75% of the oil it would be perfect and even "healthy", but alas... There can be a long line at times but it moves really quickly; you will usually get your food within 5 min if not faster. It's good food at a great price point for the area, but the greasiness....... read more

If you want fast and cheap chicken teriyaki, this is the place for you. It comes with white rice and "vegetables" if you like. Try to stand as far from the grill as you can while waiting for your food though. If you don't, you'll smell like chicken teriyaki for the rest of the day... If you are concerned about that kind of thing. Be ready to order when you get to the front of the line too - the ladies here move, and talk, fast. read more

Sakura has been a staple ever since I was young. Rather downtown Boston or at a mall- you had to eat at Sakura. I love the teriyaki chicken with veggies and fried rice. I always ask for extra sauce and extra meat. My theory is dont half ass- go big or go home/ eat a salad. hahaha. On Monday after taking the rest of the food to go, my best friend and I wandered through the commons and gardens. I knew that I would be able to enjoy the rest of my food when we got back to her house. Unfortunately my food was lost in the hustle and bustle of the Boston Marathon attacks. Whatever the case is I will enjoy Sakura before I go back to LA. Peace, Love and Safety Yelpers- GO EAT SOME SAKURA!! read more

Yeah yeah it's a chain and comes out fairly quick but the food is still made in front of you and to order. I usually get chicken teriyaki with veggies instead of rice. The best part is this is in a food court and is an awesome spot for people watching. Definitely one of best Chicken Teriyaki dishes I have had in my life. Service is pretty fast -- food is ready within 1-2 minutes. I always go with the Chicken option, except one time trying the Beef which didn't go that well with the sauce. You can also ask for extra teriyaki sauce, which will make it taste so much better. For just about $7, this ia the best deal you can get in downtown Boston. read more

So it feels weird giving a chain food stall at a food court a 4 star rating, but the food here is actually pretty decent. I got the chicken teriyaki (on the daily special for $6), and you can see them cooking it on the pan on the spot which makes it all the more appealing. It comes with vegetables and rice (the plumper, slightly stickier Japanese rice which goes really well with teriyaki) and a generous serving of chicken. Not bad at all for the price! read more

I would give 0 stars if possible. The customer service here is absolute garbage. I went around 12 on a Monday when it wasn't busy at all and the jerk behind the counter was rushing us to take our order before we were even in line (keep in mind nobody as behind us). Then when we get to the register to pay, I'm told 3 times in 3 seconds how much the food costs and actually am told to hurry up. This all must have transpiring over the course of 3 minutes. This place is absolute trash, if you're looking to eat here, save some money and eat out of the garbage container out back. read more

Pleasantly surprised by this food court food! Very cheap prices and good service. But, it is still food court food so don't get your hopes up too high. Good for a quick and cheap meal. My boyfriend shared the teriyaki with noodles and veggies and were very full. We will be back! read more

Haven't been here for a while, but let's grab something quick for lunch. Ordered the chicken teriyaki and went back to work to grub. Lack of sauce and the rice taste like they have used too little water to cook it. It was almost as if it was dried out or the rice was yesterday's. I will not return and will not spend on this spot for lunch next time and beyond. read more

I been going here consistently last year. I can not believe how addicting this is, I always order chicken teriyaki with vegetable and white rice for around$6.09 sometimes i get the stamps for buy 5 get one free i think or buy one get one free or half price, i cant remember. The price is great, the food is fresh and delicious, the wait time is fast! I sometime brought two, one for now and one for dinner. Even when i eat it six hours after it is made, it is still taste great! The reason why i brought two sometimes is because when i am craving for Sarku's Chicken Teriyaki There are none around me. They only open at the Mall... I wish they could open on the street near me, that would be great! so I dont have to take train to the mall or find parking and walk for a distance just to get it. If they open one on the street or drive though, even delivery! I would definitely be a regular. So Sarku owner, if you are out there and reading this, then please please open one Not in the mall but on the street with drive-though and delivery in Cambridge(I know there is one in Cambridge Gallirea Mall, but it is still too far away) Like right now, i am craving for it. But i am struggling if i should go though all the dazzle just to get it! Also one more demand, please open late, you guys close too early especially on weekends :,( *tears. Im going to give for stars, save one star when they become convenient like Mc.Donald. Also their fresh healthy steem veggies... Yum Yum Yum hmm..... read more

Typical Sarku Japan. However, beware if you're paying in cash here. My friend, who was with me at the time, paid with a 100 and received 20s back as change. Found out the next day that one of those 20s was a counterfeit. At worst, it means the cashiers were trying to stick the next unlucky guy with a fake. At best, it means the cashiers are inattentive and will hand you back fake money. read more

Sometimes I walk aimlessly around Downtown Crossing during lunch, hoping something will catch my eye (or stomach) enough to decide upon it for my meal. In instances where nothing really jumps out at me, this little Japanese place at The Corner mall is one of my defaults. The only thing that I (and seemingly about 99% of the other patrons I see there) really get is the teriyaki chicken with white rice (I ask for extra sauce on it as well). Mass-produced, but tasty, greasy, and satisfying (and something different from a fast food burger) -- for $5-6, you can't go too wrong. read more
