Favorite Thai place on LI! The Siam noodle is delicious- the duck is succulent and the duck fat really holds the dish together. I also love getting the whole fish, it's fried and the sauce that it comes with is fresh with a little heat. read more

Sarin Thai has been a fixture in the community for so long I was surprised to find that the food was as poor quality as it was. It goes to show you that the average local has no clue when it comes to good quality of food. The duck salad was meh, thrown in a dish with a few pieces of iceberg lettuce. No flavor no spice no presentation. The pad see ew was meh too. Just poorly made and lacking taste and quality. The chicken cashew was really awful. The chicken looked like it was a pre cooked ingredient. In fact everything else was too. The kitchen is deficient. No one cares about freshness and taste. The three dishes were $45 for take out. The place in hillside Ave SriPraPhai is so much better. I mean there's really no comparison. Sarin is not mediocre at best. I will definitely not go back there again. I have to say service is a 5 stars That's where it stops Duck is so greasy it is inedible Chicken - well more like misery paper fried up. The salad part was great. I had to tell the waitress five times that I like things separated. Best Thai food on long island! They're portions are huge and the quality is amazing! (They also offer lunch specials!) The ambiance is great! The only thing I would advice about is parking and wait list. The restaurant is fairly small and they get busy quickly. Parking is an issue I've always had. My staple is Chicken Pad Thai (spicy) or Thai spicy if they will do it. I proceeded to dig in only to my dismay. =( I was so looking forward to having some Thai food, that maybe my hopes were too high. The noodles were slightly bland and needed a little more seasoning. The noodles were on the mushy side, but I can forgive this. Spice level was certainly missing!! I had to utilize one of my hot sauces from my spice collection on my desk to bring it up to where it should be! Friends I know who has traveled to Thailand, tell me that most meals are pretty spicy, so I didn't expect anything less. Both green curry and red curry are very delicious. Fried rice is sweet but still good. My favorite meat choice is duck and fish. Both fried and very crispy. Not a fan of Pad Thai because it's way too sweet. They don't have enough hot sauce serving during lunch time when they are always busy. Servers are not really friendly, they often yell at you or act really rude when they are busy during lunch time. My friends love this place, so they took me there. Decor Clean. Spacious. New. Food The Pad Kee Mau with chicken I ordered was solid. Not too spicy, and not greasy. The chicken in it was lean, and there was a generous portion in it. Service Typical waiting time for food to come out. They were attentive. By far the best place to eat in the area. Food is always AMAZING and staff is super friendly. You can never go wrong with the Pad Thai, but all the curries are really good as well. This is hands-down the best place for Thai food in the area. Well, to be honest, I don't know any other Thai places in the area... but I've never looked for any, because Sarin never fails me. The green curry is great, the red curry is great, and the pad thai is AMAZING. For apps, the chicken sauté with peanut sauce is great and I also love their steamed mussels. The servers are all very friendly and accomodating. The place is never too busy (although it should be!) and the food comes out pretty quick. read more

I've gone to this restaurant numerous times, especially because I went to college nearby. It was always a hit or miss but after today's experience I am never going back, nor am I recommending this place to anyone else. 1. I ordered a Thai iced tea (not my first time) and it was much sweeter than it has ever been. So I asked our server if they can add something to adjust the sweetness. Instead of offering to add milk or more tea she said it was pre-sweetened and it couldn't be changed. 2. As we finished and received our check, we were waiting for the server to take our payment we noticed a huge centipede on the wall our table was touching. As someone who is extremely scared of insects, I kept it to myself without screaming. I told the server immediately and their excuse was "because it is raining outside" (it was not raining outside). The owner then went to the table and took the insect into a napkin and then took it into the kitchen. The best part was that he showed me that he got it in the napkin. I'm not sure why he walked in to the kitchen with it though. There was no apology. Apparently it is normal to see insects in a restaurant and to keep calm as if nothing happened. I would understand if it was an ant or a fruit fly but a centipede? There's no reason for a centipede to be at a decent food establishment. Like I said before, I kept it to myself. I was with my best friend and if she had seen it first, she would've created a scene. They are lucky that we left the restaurant once the bill had been settled without saying a word to the other individuals eating their dinner. All I have to say is, I definitely did not expect this, our server was rude, as was the owner (god forbid they smile at you) and I will not be going back. read more

I love the Gang Puck vegetable curry, and the Papaya salad for starts , if you eat fish, the squid rings are delicious. The Pad Kae Mao is also a favorite... I have it with extra veggies and skip the shrimp but with the shrimp it is also divine. and if you're into shrimp the Pineapple Fried Rice is yummy. All I can say it was a horrible experience. The bathroom was filthy dirty has not been cleaned in months and months the wallpaper was peeling off and so dirty I was scared to touch anything. Then after washing my hands with the soap that was almost finished there was no paper towels to dry my hands that is unacceptable. I ordered the red curry w/ shrimp . Besides being small shrimp and a tiny portion of food the sauce seemed watered down ?? I've had the sauce 1000 times and it usually has a little spice and plenty of coconut milk this was watered down !!!!!! I asked the Waitress for maybe some more coconut milk or some sauce cause it was watered down and she said NO I will have to charge you an extra 7.95 for more coconut milk . I told her this was absurd and said well can you bring me a little coconut milk when she said no we don't have that ??? Everything in the restaurant from appetizers to entrees to desserts had coconut milk but she couldn't bring a little portion to correct the sauce that was absolutely watered down. i like this place. i like it because it was the first thai restaurant that i went to that wasn't trying to be hip, posh, chic or pretentious. it actually seemed quite authentic with their modest decor that consisted of artifacts from thailand and the women servers dressed in their native clothing. their lunch special was reasonably priced and as always, i ordered a curry dish. they didn't have panang curry so i went with their green curry, which was really good. i don't know if it's just me, but i have never really had bad thai food. i find that thai food is quite consistent wherever i go -- kind of like chinese restaurants. you get me? read more

I love Spice in the village and when I changed jobs and started working on Long Island, i was a bit sad I wouldnt have easy access to my favorite Thai restaurant, and then someone took to me to Sarin I was hooked. The food is unbelievably good and has a very authentic flavor (granted Im not Thai so how do I know, but I do know good food when I taste it) The chicken soup is soooooo tasty and the lunch time menu is an unbelievable value $9 -10 dollars for entree soup or salad. The only draw back to this place is the menu becomes somewhat pricey at dinner time for the same entrees you get at lunch and yet the portion sizes stay the same, but if you order the dinner specials then its worth it. read more

I'm bias, I love Thai! There aren't too many Thai choices on the North Shore of LI, so for this reason it gets a 4. Its also inexpensive. Its tasty and the service is good, attentive and quick.
