Best Peruvian food on the north shore. The chaufa is spectacular and it reminds me of my childhood. Would rate 6 stars if I could.

Came here for my birthday! It was really really good just like I remembered. I was a bit late to…read morethe reservation but that wasn't a problem. Definitely need a reservation for Friday night. I've been going to the locations in the city before but I'm so glad they opened one up here. The drinks were delicious we tried the watermelon margarita, passionfruit sour, virgin Pina colada, and brisa de Lima. Made very well. For apps we got the grilled octopus and Nikkei ceviche. The grilled octopus came with two delightful sauces and some grilled mini potatoes. It was tender and flavorful. The Nikkei was like Peruvian tuna poke but I wish it was a little less salty. For mains we went all out. We got the matador combo and an arroz con mariscos and a full platter of jalea. It was enough food for 6 people with quite a bit left over. One of the standouts we never expected was the seafood rice.. the sauce it came in was rich and complex and creamy. Not like a paella, more like a risotto.. that was finished quickly everyone loved it. For the matador combo it is a huge amount of food. The chicken was standout juicy and came with a ton of sides like avocado salad, rice and beans, tostones, and salchipapas and fries. It was all really good and can fill up your party. The other fun food was the jalea, it's a fried mix seafood platter. I enjoyed the seafood used they had a mix of white fish, baby squid, calamari, clams, and yucca fries, all drizzled with this light but umami filled criolla salsa, which is a mix of red onions corn garlic and yumminess. Everyone was stuffed. Finally we had cake that I night and the cappuccinos we ordered were good as well. And the bill wasn't too crazy for 6 people with drinks. The only annoying part was that the roof was a bit drippy it rained and I felt occasionally drips of water on my head..

The lomo saltado is also very good and flavorful. Not pictured is camarones cuzco. Its an amazing shrimp dish in a aji amarillo sauce. The service can be slow when its busy. It also gets very loud.

I am appalled by this behavior l, unfortunately the owner was not there. She is Peruvian and always supports Peruvian business, not this one anymore. Only because she is Latino would they treat her like this. I will Make sure to never go to this location, I rather spend my money on the other Vicharra in Glen Cove.

Like what the other reviewers said, the ambience could be better and the wait staff does need more training. We had a sweet waitress but got our orders wrong and really didn't know anything about Peruvian food. It was almost comical. Good thing we were the only ones there and we were in no rush. The food though....super YUM! From the green sauce with the corn nuts, down to the churros. We got a shrimp ceviche, steamed fish with tomato sauce and fried fish with yucca fried and tomato onions. I loved the steamed fish. Really delicious and cooked perfectly. We wolfed it down before I could take pictures. The fried fish was crunchy on the outside but not over cooked. Tasty! Both dishes came with a mound of pyramid shaped rice. Churros were simple but delicious. Ours came with a sprinkling of cinnamon sugar, which was fine for us. I will be back to try more dishes on the menu. Would love to see their famous rotisserie chicken offered here as well. If they work on the service, it will bring the restaurant to a whole different level.

It's a small place so I thought I'd check it out…read more Usually tiny little places tend to please with very authentic food at good prices since the over head isn't as high. This place was not clean and the food wasn't great. There are a lot of really great peruvian restaurants out there but this one doesn't compete. Be prepared because they only have a few tables. Their prices were definitely not competitive with other similar establishments. I don't mind paying a lot of money for good food but my bill was over $100 with tip for lunch for mostly veggies. I walked out feeling like I just got robbed at a tourist trap. I figured people must be using some sort of coupon or deal when they go in there because I can't imagine that most people are paying $100 for a basic takeout lunch. FYI- I didn't eat any meat. Again, $100 no problem for a delicious meal. For example $22.00 for a large side of sliced potato. It wasn't even a whole potato. Just a few slices and I usually get this peruvian dish as a side with my lunch and have never in my life paid even half of that. I ordered it but I assumed it must have been special or very large. Nope, it was typical except cold and not tasty. In many peruvian places you can pay that much for the whole lunch special and this was just one side. Also when I got my bill I told them that the bill didn't match the menu and they told me that they hadn't updated their menus in a long time and these are the new prices. I said ok and I figured it's a one and done anyway. Btw- the prices and menu you see in the photos are NOT the menu or prices I got. Maybe they have a local menu and another? Also, I called before I came because they're sign says Machu Picchu restaurant and pizzeria. Which I thought was strange but figured they served both. When I called the girl acted like I was crazy and laughed about the pizzeria thing. I got there and they have a 2 huge signs that say Machu Picchu pizzeria on them. ‍
