A pleasant surprise! The service was exceptional and the food was on point! Well prepared and delicious! The ambiance is old New York! Great location close to theatre! Make reservations or get there early!

We went to Sardi's in early November for a girls' night before seeing Romy & Michele at Stage 42, and it was exactly the old‑Broadway, slightly kitschy experience we were hoping for. The room is lined with classic caricatures and feels very "time capsule," a little dated but in a way that's clearly part of the charm. And you're probably paying a bit extra for this as well. I had the Shrimp Salad, with jumbo shrimp over greens and citrusy vinaigrette, and my friend had the cannelloni; both were enjoyable and the service was impressively fast for a pre‑theatre crowd. There's a bathroom attendant, which always makes me feel a bit awkward, but she kept everything spotless and even helped me fix my dress, so she genuinely improved the experience. Overall, Sardi's delivered exactly what we wanted: solid food, quick service, and a very old‑school Broadway atmosphere before our show.

It was all we expected and more. The food was delicious and loved the atmosphere. Service was 10/10. We had reservations for dinner and had requested to sit at one of the iconic red booths and they kindly obliged our seating request.

Sardi's is a fun place to enjoy drinks and food! The bar on the second level is fun to have drinks and meet new people. I really enjoy the meatballs. All the food is good and comforting. It's fun for lunch and dinner.

Great service ambiance and food. Very nice pretheater dinner experience. Iconic characters on the walls .

Walked in without reservations to have pre-show drinks. Located the heart of Times Square across from Shubert Theater where we were going to see a show. The place was super busy but we were able to get a small table upstairs that overlooked the street. Being from out of state this place is what I imagined an old school Italian restaurant would look and feel like - very nostalgic and even some customers speaking Italian (loved that). The walls are covered with caricatures of famous people that have dined there. We walked up to the bar to order our drinks and didn't have to wait long for them to be brought to the table. All in all it was a great experience. I'd like come back and have dinner next time.

This is a very well known restaurant in the NYC area. It is located right in the heart of Times square and is a good choice to go to if you are catching a show in the area. This restaurant is filled with the walls covered in Caricature's of famous people who have once dined here. This is a big tourist spot. There is a small bar area to your left when you walk in too. My friend and I both had a salad for dinner and no cocktails. I had a cob salad and my friend got the chopped one. Hers looked better than mine. She said it was very good. We both ended dinner with cappuccinos and a I had a decaf one. If you use the bathroom here it's very chilly in there at least in the ladies room. And there is a bathroom attendant who is very nice.

We stumbled upon this spot simply because it was close to the Broadway theater district and had an open reservation -- and wow, did we get lucky! I later learned this place has a long history of celebrity visitors, which made the experience even more fun. The walls are lined with charming caricature portraits that give the restaurant such a unique, nostalgic feel. I tried one of their signature dishes -- the cannelloni with beef and veal -- and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered the appetizer portion along with a spinach salad with bacon dressing, which was the perfect amount of food before our show. I also enjoyed a champagne cocktail that paired beautifully with the meal. Best of all, the restaurant is just a couple of minutes' walk from the theater, making it an ideal pre-show dinner spot.

Sardi's is our favorite restaurant in the theater district. Always very consistent food and drinks. You will see the same staff here year after year. Top notch! It's not stuffy, it's a comfortable place to refresh after running around the city for the day.

Wonderful martini at the bar before seeing Cats: The Jellicle Ball. The bartender delivered a perfectly crafted martini and instantly provided an appetizer of Ritz crackers and potted cheddar cheese when we were hungry. The cannelloni were delicious, too, and it was fun to sit at the bar and talk to the regulars.

Best place to come for a pre show drink. You can't go wrong with a yummy martini. The price, though, is pretty steep. You only live once so enjoy!

Came in for a pre-show drink. It was the height of dinner and pre-show rush. The bar was jammed packed but moving quickly. The decor is old school theater with portraits of stars current and classic. Kristy and I found a spot to squeeze into and two very kind ladies who were getting ready to go gave us their spots. We ordered French martinis. At $20 a pop they were a little steep but were strong enough to sip slowly while we waited for the theater to open. They served food as well but we had just eaten. The vibes were extremely chill and its a great spot for a pre or post show drink or meal. Felt very old NY and camt believe I've never been here before in my whole life as a NYer. Won't be the last either.

Good food and great ambience, excellent service and the food was tasty. It's pricey, but that's all part of the course in this neighborhood.

Do I need a reservation if I just want to get dessert after a show?

It's not a requirement to have a reservation but considering it can be busy that time of the evening you might want to consider it. There is quite a bit of theatre traffic through there as well.

I have heard conflicting stories, one that Sardi's has closed down, the other that they are still open. Does anyone know the status of this place? I have sent Sardi's a number of messages and they never return them.

For my entree, I ordered the vodka rigatoni and a side of buttered broccoli. The vodka rigatoni was really good - liked the flavor and a decent size of pasta. The broccoli was really good for some reason to me. Also tried the truffle mac and cheese which was incredibly rich and tasted great. As a dessert, we had the chocolate pie which was dense, rich, and topped with a huge dollop of whipped topping. I really liked the atmosphere of the place, loud roaring 20s style with jazz playing. Plus I kept finding myself checking out the mural on the wall. Try it for yourself - but worth the fight to get a table.

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water. I would return to Friedman's when I'm in the Herald Square area, or check out one of their other locations in the city.

I sat at the bar and ordered a simple pasta with red sauce, some meatballs, and broccolini. The pasta was perfectly al dente and absorbed the red sauce nicely. I appreciate that I was not offered grated cheese or fresh ground pepper. It was served as the chef intended, showing off the tomatoes, accented only by the herbs and spices. It was not too oily either, if anything it could have had a touch more, but again this let the tomatoes come through. The pork and beef. meatballs are dense and served in a thickened tomato sauce. The bread that comes with it is nice for finishing that gorgeous sauce which does have a sprinkling of parm. The broccolini had a a touch of garlic and served with a lemon.
