A 24/7 Turkish bakery?! Whaaaaaat. This was a no brainer for me. I HAD to stop by. The parking situation is a little crazy. They have a lot with maybe 4-5 spaces in front of the store, but it's tiiiiiiny. I'd rather look for street parking nearby. I came by on a late Tuesday night and I was half expecting it to be empty inside, but I was wrong! The bakery is warm, inviting, and clean. There's ample seating (both indoor and outdoor). I noticed that some people had their laptops with them, so maybe it's also a good study/work spot? All of the baked goodies looked appetizing! I explained to the employees that it was my first time trying Turkish pastries and asked for recommendations. Prices are reasonable with most items being around $3-$10 each. I ended up ordering a Turkish coffee and kazandibi (pudding/custard). *Kazandibi (~$8) - This is one of the most best selling items! It's a thick, milky pudding with a golden-brown coating of caramelized sugar. I LOVE custard and pudding so I really enjoyed this. The taste reminded me of vanilla pudding, but more earthy. I also tasted hints of milk and egg whites. The texture was velvety smooth and silky. *Turkish Coffee (~$4)- The presentation was adorable. The coffee came in a cute cup and plate set. The flavor was a lot more intense and bold than other coffees I've tried! I was caught by surprise when I took a gulp of the grounds at the very bottom of the cup... but consider me a fan!!! I was really craving a fresh Simit so when I found this nearby bakery, I decided to pay a visit (a 24-hour Turkish bakery in NJ is reason enough to go). Each simit is $2.90--a bit pricier than I expected, but they had a great crunch, a nice sesame flavor, and a mild sweetness. I visited this bakery a few weeks ago after celebrating my birthday. My friends and I chose this place because we wanted a cozy spot to talk and enjoy some drinks. I've always loved this bakery, and the atmosphere has always made it one of my favorites. During this visit, I had a very disappointing experience with one of the employees. I was ordering my drinks, a woman with black hair made an inappropriate comment to me. I was just adjusting my hair when she told me, in a harsh tone, "Stop touching your hair, you're leaving it everywhere. This is a bakery, and we have to clean everything." I didn't fully understand what she said because of her strong accent, so I asked her to repeat it. When I realized what she meant I was shocked. I wasn't anywhere near the food but her tone and approach were unnecessarily rude and made me feel disrespected. As someone who also works in customer service at a coffee shop, I understand the importance of maintaining hygiene standards but there are respectful ways to communicate with customers. I really hope the management takes this kind of feedback seriously. The bakery itself is great, but customer service matters just as much as good coffee and pastries. I also want to mention that there's a lady with blonde hair who works there, she's always so kind and welcoming. She truly seems to love her job and always makes the experience pleasant. Very cute, clean and welcoming bakery. They have indoor and outdoor seating but today was gorgeous out so I opted for outdoor seating. Although my mouth watered for their desserts , I was too full after I finished my latte and Turkish bagel. The bagel was good, fresh and toasted to a perfect crunch. My coffee was good, not crazy amazing but it did it's job. The service was very fast and very friendly. I didn't think they would have these but they did! This is mainly a Turkish bakery. Everything was clean and bright. No labels on the desserts which i dislike. So you have to ask what everything is. So that can be a negative since it would be nice to have an identifier with an explanation of eat items may be. Also no prices. But I think they're moderately priced. We ordered a cupcakes, cheesecake, Turkish custard and a latte. Everything was delcious. We did not like the Turkish custard. But that's due to taste. We did not know what it was. I had something similar to a croissant with beef inside (like an English pastie) and it was delicious. I then tried some of the cakes which were super fresh and also delicious. Decided to buy a loaf of bread and that did not disappoint either...it's so hard to find good, fresh baked bread and this was as fresh as it comes. The most special feature of this bakery is the customer service, which is warm, personal, attentive and kind, no matter how busy it is. Melis and Peri always greet us with smiles and an earnest "welcome," and attend to us as if we were long time friends. We observe that they treat all customers with this special spirit of service and personal care, though, sometimes, they are stretched, as it can get busy. No matter what, they make this bakery feel special, while keeping service efficient and the tables clean. While looking for a great place to pick up slices of cake and wanting to avoid grocery store cakes, I came across Saray Bakery. This bakery has only recently opened up and is conveniently located on Gorge Rd. My first impressions of the bakery are quite positive. The shop is very welcoming, clean, and seems like a nice place to hang out while grabbing dessert. The wide display of desserts including baklava, bakery items, and cakes (both by slice and whole cakes) that spans most of the bakery is colorful with a variety of desserts and filled with items that are clearly fresh and high quality. I ordered the bakalava and tiramisu. The tiramisu is bold and has deep notes of coffee while also having the traditional taste. The bakalava has the perfect level of sweetness and is also the ideal amount of crunch and nutty flavor. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and ratio of flavor profiles and will definitely be stopping by or even making Saray a regular spot for me. Pros: - Cakes and bakery items are fresh and high quality, potentially even made same day - Bakery has a vibrant mood and welcomes customers to relax and have a nice dessert - Taste profile of cakes and desserts are clearly well thought out and gives a unique taste for each slice/item - Staff are amazing and helpful - Cakes are priced fairly for the quality and availability Cons: - The bathroom has clear glass window facing Gorge road so this could present a potential privacy issue. Heard this place was open 24/7, had to see for myself so went there a little passed midnight. The man over the counter was very nice and he packaged all of our items nicely. We got the sütlaç (oven rice pudding), kazandibi, & banana cream roll cake. Everything in total was around $21. We took it to go & ate it at home. The kazandibi & banana cake were good but the rice pudding was a little watery. Super cool that they are open 24/7 so would come here again after a night out since nothing in our town is really open late night! Theres a small parking lot & outdoor seating.
