Incredible service and food. While yes, the service was slow in terms of getting the food out, good food takes time (and this was no exception)! I attended as part of Restaurant Week NYC for lunch, which was a 30$ pre-fixe menu. It was fantastic! I got the Tomato and Burrata Salad, Sautéed Branzino, and Panna Cotta. All were absolutely incredible, while dining in a Parisian inspired restaurant- it really made me feel fancy and in France! The utensils were switched after every course, which was a nice touch. Booked a reservation for after graduation from Columbia (Class of 2026 right here!) and glad that we did because everything in the area was as busy as I've ever seen it in all my years in the area. We were seated inside away from the front, which was a huge plus with it being 90+ degrees that day. Front of house staff were warm and welcoming, injecting some humor into what I would guess was a stressful day for them. Drinks were ordered quickly, Champagne to celebrate and a cocktail each, and food order was placed as well. Everything after that was a blur of celebration and fun, but the food stood out overall. Afterwards, we were treated with Congratulations Class of 2026 chocolates, which was icing on the proverbial cake. Had the absolute pleasure of dining at this restaurant after my husband's masters graduation. With so many students looking to walk in, our happily made in advance reservation was taken immediately at the check-in desk. We were walked over to a beautiful table in the corner of the restaurant by a nice size window and immediately greeted by water service and our servers. The manager or possibly owner of the restaurant came to check on us multiple times and was simply lovely. Each of our three meals were to die for and exactly what we needed after a hot morning of graduation commencement. We were also treated with beautiful homemade chocolates that were customized to match the graduation ceremony and school colors, which was both delicious and very thoughtful. 10 out of 10 recommend, will absolutely be returning in the very near future. read more

Be aware of extreme event markups here. During graduation weekend, they raised a standard $26 item to $36 - nearly a 40% price increase. Many tables had similar problems waiting 20 minutes for water, 40 minutes for main course. Also ordering 1/2 bottle of wine was more cost effective than by the glass. We asked for bread which never came. Watermelon Carpaccio was very unique and Steak frites peppercorn very tasty. Le Monde has a lovely cozy atmosphere, and was perfect to warm up in during a cold winter's night. Though we didn't order wine, they have an extensive wine selection with a focus on Loire Valley wines. We ordered an Endive salad to start - crunchy, a touch of tartness, and some nice tang from the Roquefort. I ordered the Steak Frites and my partner got the Duo of Duck. The fries were perfectly salty and had a good crisp to them. The steak was also cooked perfectly to medium rare, and it was great to try both of their steak sauces. I capped off the evening with a lovely little decaf espresso. Leshawny was a fantastic server! He made sure we were taken care of, was attentive without being overbearing, and was very kind. I celebrated my birthday at Le Monde Restaurant last night (02/07/2026), and it was an absolutely flawless experience. A huge shoutout to our waiter, Luis, who was the star of the evening. He went above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome, but what touched me most was how he looked after my mother. Since she is a Spanish speaker, Luis was able to communicate with her effortlessly, making her feel completely included and well cared for. Managers Khalid and Hakeem clearly run a tight ship. It was a drizzly day, but we chose to sit outdoors and people watched. We were quickly greeted by several waiters and were rewarded with a fresh bread basket after mulling over our order. -French Onion Soup: 5/5, was too full to enjoy the whole thing, but the cheese pull was satisfying, and the soup was rich and flavorful. Food was quite average. I got the crepe that was alright, but the hot chocolate was warm milk with sugar with a whole lot of whipped cream, and no hints of chocolate. Others on the table were equally disappointed with their beverages. The shakshuka wasn't good at all. We got the peach melba crepe and chocolate gateau for dessert, those weren't bad, but nothing great either. The challah French toast was genuinely one of the best I've had. Crispy on the outside, soft inside, and the fruit tasted fresh and bright. The sweetness was perfectly balanced and not overwhelming. I ordered a side of bacon to go with it and the sweet-savory combination was honestly addictive. Their cappuccino was also very good, smooth with well-textured foam. The atmosphere is cozy but lively, comfortable without feeling crowded. Marco was warm, attentive, and gave great recommendations. Definitely a solid brunch spot in the neighborhood. Overall such a cute spot for brunch! I'm surprised it wasn't more crowded... granted we did come on a Thursday close to 11am. We ordered the Challah French Toast, the Breakfast Croissant, and the Peach Melba crepe. They were all really good! Honestly not many complaints. Very disappointed with the food that was served. We went for a late lunch and got the mushroom ravioli - which to be honest was the only decent tasting dish. However the portion size was pretty small for the price. I also got the shakshuka and it was terrible. There was no flavor in the tomato base and the eggs were just raw and uncooked. I barely ate it and the bread they served was probably the best part about the dish. For dessert we got the Nutella and banana crepe but it seemed like it only had bananas with a light drizzle of Nutella on the top. This is a cute French restaurant near Columbia University. It was very busy when we went around 1pm but luckily we were still able to get a table without a reservation. They have a lunch menu where there is a soup of the day and entree that comes with a dessert. Today's special came with a BLT sandwich, soup, and sorbet. I have had a lot of French onion soup. Le Monde served me the best I have ever had. Even though I live on the UWS, I don't travel up here by the college much. I don't know why, because whenever I do, I find out how many incredible places I have been missing. Le Monde is one of those places. I will become a regular here. The food is incredible, and the price is fair. I loved all of the things that you usually love about a comfortable restaurant. I was there with friends for a conversation, and my only complaint is typical superficial curmudgeonly: the music was too loud. I really enjoyed eating here. I can't wait to come back. read more

Place was fantastic! I had lamb chops and it was just amazing. Luis was amazing and super knowledgeable and helpful.

Poor quality meal and lacking service. Very expensive for what you get and just not as flavorful as it should be. Very disappointing.
