I don't usually do fine dining, but I was so glad I did on Thursday night. A colleague of mine recommend recommended this place when I told her I was going to see a Broadway show that evening. I stopped in only planning on getting the French onion burger, that she suggested, but wound up with a three course meal. I started my meal with the Oeufs Mimosa (deviled eggs). They were incredibly delicious and smooth. I ate them all very quickly and even eat the sauce underneath. Then, I ordered my French onion burger, which my colleague had suggested. The burger was so melt in your mouth. It came on an English muffin that was incredible. A must try! Finally, I decided to order a dessert and had the peach Melba. The peach was so well done as was the raspberry sauce and the tiny cone. It was a deconstructed ice cream with peach on top. The wait staff was very kind and checked in on me multiple times. I also loved how everyone kept using French although I don't think most of them were from France or of French descent. It definitely helps at the mood though. All in all, Le Rivage was an excellent choice for dinner.

Came into the city for a much needed get away. Friend is a local chef and said Le Rivage was the move so we checked it out. I made a reservation a week ahead of time on Open Table. Confirmed. We invited our other chef friend to enjoy a night on town. I ended up calling earlier during the day to push back reservation 30 mins as friends were coming from Delaware and Jersey. Restaurant was great with the accommodation. We started off with a few apps and they were great. Also had a blood orange margarita and excellent. I went with the award winning French onion soup burger and delicious. Overall great experience. I will say our original server wasn't the nicest but the guy who took over mid shift was amazing.

Outdoor seating does not have heat lamps so you will freeze if you're dining alfresco during the chillier times of the year. Cozy, classy, lovely ambience. Loved all the tiny, white twinkle lights that made the space feel truly festive. The vibe was the highlight of our experience. However, be prepared that the space is small and too many tables are too tightly packed together. You're literally sitting next to strangers whose table is barely 5 inches away. Prepare to listen to some interesting conversations and keep your conversations PG. Not suitable if you're looking for an intimate setting where you can feel close to the person that you're with. Noise level gets high once the space fills up around 6 PM. Get a reservation. This restaurant is popular for all the theatergoers, since it's next to theater row, so the whole experience is catered to ensure that you eat quickly and are out of there to make it to the show. That felt very rushed and hectic. I could not relax or enjoy. Our waiter and all the staff made me feel very rushed and we had to change tables because there was another reservation right after ours, even if we haven't spent two hours dinning yet. On Fridays and Saturdays, you're forced to do a prefix meal for $70: one appetizer, an entrée, and dessert per a person. Some confusion with pricing happened at tables all around us, as more additional charges were added for no reason. Good money making scheme. They're running here during busy, peak dining times right before Broadway shows. Would not return just for feeling so rushed and pressured after paying so much money for a meal that was just OK. Escargot for appetizer was delicious. Great garlic butter pesto in which the snails were served. Seafood, pancake for appetizer was very underwhelming. Borderline bland. Almond trout was tender and delicate. Get this if you're not very hungry or are watching your calorie intake. Poulet sous brique (chicken in sage oil with butternut squash purée) was the highlight of the meal. Good portion of protein. Half a chicken. Tiny dollop of purée. Very well, balanced flavors that he could actually taste and enjoy. Highly recommend. Crème brûlée tasted very bland. I was eating it and not feeling anything. What a this disappointment. Profiteroles were one of the highlights of the meal. Not too sweet, but perfectly balanced.

Food was really excellent! The service was super friendly and really warm and attentive. Feels like a real French Bistro sitting in the neighborhood.

Went for our anniversary. Food was good but what really soured the evening was the server. He's clearly been there for awhile. I think Justin was his name. The moment we mentioned pre-fixe and mocktail, his entire demeanor changed. It made us feel less than that we don't drink and went with the theater prefixe, Considering we are locals and dine out a lot it was not the welcoming come back again experience. He also never once checked on us or asked how our meal was at any time. That's bad watering 101. Expect better. WARNING: be careful of writing anything negative. The manager will privately message you, and in the most egregious and toxic way, deflect away from any accountability while telling you how you were the problem, not them. I'm unbelievably dumbstruck by the phone call and private messages and audacity of establishment that should be above such behavior.

I went here for a birthday date with someone. She chose here, so we went there. We were seated quickly and the menu came fast. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and made the experience memorable. The Steak tartare and escargots for the appetizer were amazing. I wanted to try escargot so why not here? Buttery, garlicky, incredible flavors, just incredible. I ordered beef bourguignon and she ordered canard à la orange. The beef bourguignon had a taste that made me go "If I was snowed in and only this was available all winter, I would not be upset in the slightest". The caned à la orange was a beautiful blend of fatty duck, tangy orange sauce, and they paired perfectly. Dessert, she ordered the molten chocolate lava cake and I had the crème brûlée. They were both rich, but not heavy. The right serving to end the experience without feeling stuffed. Le Rivage is absolutely a must go in Restaurant Row!

Despite being located on the tourist heavy Restaurant Row, this place is serving up some yummy French brasserie food. They even have some outdoor seating, if the day is nice enough. Great calming French vibes among all the busyness. Steak Tartare: A classic French starter! The meat was finely chopped and so tender, definitely high quality. Came pre-mixed, except for the quail egg, so packed with nice spices and herbs. The toasted bread was a good pairing, though felt kinda skimpy given the amount of meat. French Onion Soup Burger: For the next course, I had my beef cooked. Everyone seems to rave about this burger, so now I understand why. Total umami bomb with the caramelized onions infused with onion sauce. Lots of Swiss cheese and minimal carbs from the English muffin. The side of fries were decent.

This is the only restaurant I eat at every time I am in NY. Normally I try to go to as many places as possible.. I'm a neophile, but Le Rivage is perfection. Every time I go I feel welcomed like an old friend and the service is VIP for everyone. The staff never misses a chance to make you feel valued. It is cozy and intimate and the food is always on point. If I live long enough I will try everything on the menu. This time I had the pate, the Beef Bourguignon, and the Peach Melba. Everything was good but the Beef was the best. The potatoes in it were creamy, buttery, and delicious. The beef fell apart and was perfectly seasoned. I saved some of the Lardons to the end and I was sad when they were gone. I will be back every time I am in NY. I am thankful for chef Paul and his family tradition of excellence. I also enjoy his podcasts.

So one of our family friends recommended this restaurant to us, so we went before seeing Six on Broadway--which by the way, this spot is super close to the theatre! So fun! Anyways... I love French cuisine, so when my mom's friend recommended this to us, I was excited. The service was spectacular and the ambiance was very moody and definitely reminiscent of a French restaurant you'd find in Paris. But the food... eh. For people who know me, duck is my absolute favorite meat AND duck a l'Orange is my favorite dish. Period. So I was excited to try this! However, for (I think) $42, this is not enough. You receive very little duck and the orange sauce is extremely bitter. The root vegetables were fine but kind of bland and did not add anything to the dish--it came with rice with green onions on top. It did not feel rich or luxurious which is what this dish should be! I was upset and ate what duck I had and didn't eat as much of the accompaniments. Presentation was also very clunky. My mom got the coq au vin and again, $38 for a chicken leg and a few vegetables is crazy! I don't mind spending that much on a good dish, but she was thoroughly unimpressed with the dish. I will say, the salad was great and the mustard and horseradish vinaigrette was very good. The crème brûlée was fantastic and the molten chocolate cake was so decadent and indulgent... but appetizers and desserts cannot save the entrees which should be the stars of the meal! It was fine for what it was, but definitely look for a better French restaurant (unless you care more about ambiance and service).

Good affordable French food in Hell's Kitchen. Got the escargot, beef bourginnon, and chocolate mousse. The menu is huge and diverse. You can pick an app, an entree, and a dessert. Escargot was well flavored. Beef biurginon was also delicious. I liked the chocolate mousse--it didn't feel too heavy nor sweet

Got seated pretty quickly for our reservation. We celebrated my birthday. I got the prix fixe menu. Started with the seafood crepe, then chicken for the entree, then the chocolate molten cake for dessert. Everhthing was so delicious. Love the French ambiance but wish the tables were bigger and weren't so close together.

A gem, to be treasured. $46/ 3 course prix fixe lunch is a steal. Kind of reminded me of the old Le Veau de Or. The room is magical with wood and so well thought out with spacing of tables. The prix fixe had a huge variety of options all delicious. Ate: Lovely baguette Celeriac Trout almondine with pomegranate sauce Basque cheesecake My cousins beet soup tasted like borscht on steroids was outstanding. Loved my appetizer and entree & the basque cheesecake was light and divine. I might be a new regular.

    Thanks for the sweet drink.

After work, I headed over to Midtown West for a wonderful night out with good friends! While waiting for the others to arrive, the hostess invited us to wait inside La Rivage. You get this cozy feeling when you walk into the restaurant with the warm lights and beautiful paintings. The service is amazing and the dishes are so delicious at La Rivage. My favorite dish was the tender steak. We got complimentary glasses of a sweet port wine for the birthday boy. Thanks for an amazing experience, La Rivage. We'll be back for more!

I had a 7pm reservation, but was running late, and they were flexible and told me to come any time. Upon my arrival, I was seated by the piano. The pianist playing that night, Andrew Abrahamsen, was very talented. He played an eclectic mix of songs, including "I Will Survive," Disney's "When You Wish Upon a Star," and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." As the night went on, he played Happy Birthday for me, and went on a 90s Disney Renaissance spree, playing songs including "Go the Distance" from Hercules, "Out There" from Hunchback of Notre Dame, "Beauty and the Beast," and "You've Got a Friend in Me" from Toy Story. Ordered black tiger shrimp for my entree. It smelled wonderful, and especially peppery once the waiter added pepper to it. The risotto the shrimp sat on was also very delicious. I ended up taking this to go, and it still tasted great later on! For dessert, I chose the lemon tart brûlée with raspberry sorbet. It came with "Happy Birthday" written on the plate with chocolate, and a candle on the sorbet. As always, the ambiance and decor is very beautiful, with portraits of Josephine Baker to honor the revolutionary badass woman. Thanks for the great birthday dinner, Chez Josephine!

Starters: - French onion soup, au gratin, was perfect. Great onion profile and lots of it. Not overly salty so that was good. - Beef tartare, classic French bistro staple, must order this. The portion was quite generous and it was delicious. We couldn't stop eating it. The petite toasts were a nice accompaniment as well as the raddiccio salad - cheese board, IYKYK, I never met a cheese I didn't like. This board was matched with nice pairings. Think grapes, fig jam, and marcona almonds. The cheese were a classic French variety - bleu, comte and brie. For our entrees, my son opted for a sandwich and I got the steak. His croque Madame was really delicious. The bread, the ham, the baked cheese and the fried egg was so savory. Yummy. My steak was a sizeable portion but I purposely ordered the bigger ounces since I know we'd share. Fries are nice and skinny, perfectly seasoned. Our waiter was attentive and I asked for the table next to us given all the food I know we were getting. He was not sure if he could accommodate but I insisted he check with management. They came over and put it together for me. I appreciated that given a table for two, for how much we ordered, it'd never fit. Totally would return. If you like French food, this is a solid spot to try.

I've been craving a soufflé, and I'm not an expert but I wish I hadn't poured all the sauce in as the mariner was fairly strong and almost overpowered the soufflé in flavor. The lamb chops were cooked to the requested temp and seasoned well. We left no crumbs. This one is definitely worth a try!

This space felt larger than the other locations I've been to, while still keeping the same cozy, charming, and beautiful vibe that defines their brand. We were a party of three, and each of us ordered different sandwiches and pastries. I got the Katie's Chicken Sandwich, which is one of my absolute favorites and something I order almost every time I'm visiting the city. For pastry, I tried the Cherry Croissant Cube for the first time, and I was honestly speechless. It was incredibly flavorful, delicious, and truly made my day. I 100% recommend trying it. For drinks, I ordered the seasonal Cherry Elderflower Spritz. It was just okay compared to everything else, but not bad. Overall, Maman continues to be my go-to brunch place in NYC, and this visit reminded me exactly why.

Unnecessary confrontation over a 5-minute early pickup…read more I'm a regular Too Good To Go customer and have picked up bags from Maman before without issue. This visit was a frustrating exception. The app activated the swipe button shortly after 5PM -- which Maman and several other stores have recently started allowing as an early pickup signal. I went to the store accordingly. The young male Hispanic employee at the register refused to hand over my bag, insisting the pickup window didn't start until 5:15. All the bags were already packed and ready. There were no other customers in line. I tried to explain how the app works and that early pickup had been allowed here before, but he repeatedly cut me off. At one point I said "if you want to play by the book, so be it" -- meaning it as a neutral acknowledgment. He took offense, raised his voice, and kept repeating "I don't play, you play" in an increasingly hostile tone. I asked if he understood the expression. He just kept repeating "I don't play." When I asked to speak with a manager, he said there wasn't one. When I asked what a customer is supposed to do when there's a problem with an employee, he told me to come back tomorrow and talk to him. This was completely avoidable. The bags were ready. It was a 5-10 minute window, allowed by the app. The confrontation served no purpose. I noticed the review posted the day before mine mentions "poor customer service at the register" -- I suspect we encountered the same person. Maman has a good reputation worth protecting. I'd encourage management to review this interaction and make sure this particular staff is trained properly.

The frites were the best I've had - super thin and crunchy and the mussels were fantastic in a delicious white wine sauce and again a LARGE portion. While the French Onion soup was still a stand-out dish, the painfully slow service detracted. There appeared to be a single waitress working. I didn't notice during my first visit if there were multiple servers, but the first time I did hear the waiter advise another table that the kitchen was behind and there would be a wait for food. (This didn't affect me since on my first visit I only ordered soup.) Same thing happened this time, and there was a significant delay between our soup/salad course and entrees. We were told the kitchen was backed up. this is apparently the norm. For appetizers, the French onion soup was a gold star dish. My friend had the goat cheese salad which she said was also very good. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was good, and a hard-to-find dish in NYC. While eating our entrees, the server never checked on how things were or if we needed anything. Once finished, we sat there for a long time waiting for our plates to be cleared, and finally had to "announce" that we were done and request our dessert (as we had ordered the prix fixe menu). For dessert we ordered the Dame Blanche and Profiteroles. I would recommend neither. The ice cream (in both) was poor quality, crystallized and not creamy. A real shame. In all, the meal too 2.5 hours due to the slow service. The soup remains fantastic. I'm downgrading my review to recommend this spot only for soup and salad and not a full, hours-long meal. For that, it's 5 stars, for a full meal a middling 3.

This spot is alllll about the shareable items…read more We visited for Mother's Day brunch and the restaurant was packed! However, we were greeted warmly and a server was with us very quickly. They did however seat us at a table that was directly in the way of a lot of movement through the restaurant. Many waiters found themselves squeezing between our table and another to attend to other tables. Some were carrying very heavy looking trays. Beyond that, we had a blast. We ordered the butter service, which was super fun! The waiters make a whole show of it, seasoning the butter at the table, talking it up a bit, and then allowing us to go to town. The added shallots on top bring an extra hit of umami. The chorizo spread was a little grainy for me, but others at the table were going for seconds and thirds. I especially enjoyed the marinated leeks and the eggplant dip it was also served with. Our entrees were a little underwhelming. We ordered the lobster frites and the french onion soup burger. The burger wasn't overtly French oniony. It was just a solidly good burger. The lobster was delicious, but not anything I am continuing to think about. What I am still thinking about though, are the creme brulees! We ordered the corn creme brulee for a side. It was sweet and salty, with a great crack and chew to the top. I also loved the espresso creme brulee for dessert, which also had a nice light saltiness to it. We also got the spicy orange carrots which were totally delicious. In addition to the espresso creme brulee, we also ordered the lemon ice cream cake. It was bright and refreshing. The only downsides were the wait for the desserts. The wait was so long that our waiter insisted that they would be comped for our inconvenience. However, they were still on the bill at the end of the meal. He did remove them immediately when we pointed them out, though. And finally, coat check accidentally gave our Mother's Day bouquet of flowers to the wrong mom! We wound up with a much prettier bunch, but lost our balloon as part of the switch. Oh well! Next time, we'll definitely be ordering the brulees and I'll be damned if I leave without having their french onion soup!

I am writing to share some constructive feedback regarding a recent dinner at Quality Bistro…read more Having been a loyal patron of Quality Meats and Quality Italian for many years, I was eager to experience your take on the French bistro concept. While there were highlights to the evening, several aspects of the experience did not meet the high standards I have come to associate with the Quality Branded family. First, I must address a significant comfort issue two weeks ago. Our group was seated in one of the large booths, and we found that the cushions were so soft that we sank down uncomfortably low. It was quite awkward to dine when several guests could barely see over the top of the table. For a restaurant of this caliber, guest ergonomics are essential, and I would strongly encourage looking into firmer seating support for those booths. Regarding the menu, we found the oysters to be a bit of a letdown for the $5 price point. The citrus toppings were so heavy-handed that they completely overwhelmed the natural flavor of the oyster. Additionally, as a long-time fan of Quality Meats, I found the steak to be lacking in both presentation and precise execution. I had hoped for a dish that mirrored the excellence of your sister properties, but this fell short of expectations. On a more positive note, your staff was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout the night. We also thoroughly enjoyed the bread and butter cart; the butter was truly lovely and stands up well against international varieties I have tried. Furthermore, your desserts are stunning and were the highlight of our meal. I share this because I truly enjoy your restaurant group and would love to see Quality Bistro refine these details to match the world-class experience of your other locations and competitive locations in the neighborhood. I look forward to returning in the future to see how the space evolves.
